Ratings and reviews

Location and contact.

We’ve become ‘regulars’ here on our trips to Hamilton Island. The experience has always been wonderful and the food is exceptional. At our latest visit Laura was an exceptional host and Christapaul and the wait staff are attentive, passionate and knowledgeable. Can’t recommend it enough.... Also, a mention to Chef Trent Dawson who created this beautiful tasting menu we experienced this evening. More

yacht club restaurant hamilton island

The restaurant is located at the yacht club and has been styled to resemble a boat. It is a very good fine dining. The service was good, and the food was very tasty. The cheeseboard for dessert was a bit of a let down....very small.... The only thing that was disappointing about the restaurant was the lack of a sommelier, which was unusual for this caliber of restaurant. We also had to wait a few minutes before anyone showed us to our table. But definitely one to visit if you enjoy fine dining and are visiting Hamilton Island. I should also add that you should definitely have a pre-meal drink on the Bommie deck outside. Amazing views, and the drinks were actually very reasonably priced. More

We had a large group with GF and vegans and whilst initially unsure about the high priced set course menu, we could not have made a better choice for my 60th. Everything about the experience was as good or better than Melbourne's finest - from... booking to the bill. Our vegans said it was the best food they had ever eaten, which we have not heard before in a non-vegan restaurant. Our waiter, Chris, was amazing and made the night extra special. It's by no means a budget dinner but it is good value. More

We were shocked that such beautiful food in such an expensive restaurant was so bad. We had the 3 course/chef's choice dinner (forget what it was called) and each thing was underwhelming to say the least. The presentation was beautiful! But everything down to the... fresh catch dish was disappointing. The waitress had raved about the fresh catch saying that others had said they would come back just for that dish. So we were so excited about it and both ordered the same thing but were both underwhelmed. It was also too salty so I barely ate any of mine. This was our one night out by ourselves (we traveled with kids and some family offered to babysit). So we were wishing we had spent that precious time and all that money somewhere else! Waitress was great and she really took care of us. I didn't have the heart to tell her all the food was not good. Maybe it's a difference in our US tastes but we did have many meals in Australia that we loved. Hamilton Island's food overall was a bit disappointing but we did enjoy Manta Ray. Didn't get to try any of the other adult only restaurants. More

The restaurant is closed. If you’re planning on heading to Hamilton Island be aware that a number of the restaurants are closed and others understaffed. Book well in advance. Book accomodation somewhere you can cook for yourself - The IGA supermarket and BWS are both... very good, although a little more expensive than on the mainland. ( the food at the pub was simply terrible) More

Bommie is the perfect place on Hamilton Island to celebrate a special occasion. My husband and I frequently visit the island and thought we would treat ourselves with the three-course meal. The views of the sunset out across to Dent Island were beautiful, as is... the decor in the restaurant. Our server, Mia, was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing lots of titbits about the wines and food. I was particularly impressed with the vegetarian menu as it was very unique and delicious. We will be making a reservation at Bommie every time we visit the island from now on! More

The restaurant has a tasting menu of nine courses every Saturday night so we chose to go as it was our last night on the island. The menu for me was a pescatarian one and for my wife a meat based one. Both were fabulous... and the staff so attentive the night just whizzed by. More

Bommie was the Bomb! My Wife and I had dinner here for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and had we not be leaving for Melbourne the next day we would have been again for Dinner again the next night. From the time we walked in we... were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. All the staff knew it was our special night and treated us like royality and were so welcoming. We had the 5 course tasting meal, which was the best we have ever had. The Chef came to our table and poured us a shot of Limoncello before our dessert and had a wonderful chat, she is very talented and a lovely person also. Oh did I mention the staff. The staff that were assigned to us, had so much time to chat and walk us through what each of our meals were and how they were made..They really went above and beyond and looked liked they loved working there...Was it pricey, yeah sure it was, but you pay for what you get and we got service and food of the highest standard. Thank you Bommie for making our night so special and a night that we will remember untl we come back.....Soon! More

Disappointed with standard of food, particularly starters and desserts. Staff front of house were friendly, knowledgeable about the food. However, given the pricepoint we were disappointed and very pleased we didn't add $50 for truffle to be added. The delay between courses was ridiculously long... (45 minutes)...... views fantastic as sun went down, but not enough to compensate for the food which was why we went. Would only go back if significant changes into quality of food was implemented, OR price was re-evaluated. More

Definitely the most classy feeling restaurant, and also best service on the island. As soon as we walked in, the decor is beautiful, soft carpet underfoot, comfortable chairs, great sunset view etc. We had the 3 courses for the 4 of us, plus an extra... of oysters to start, and including 2 bottles of wine bill was $750. So yes it is expensive but everything is on HI, so you have to forget about that. Was it good value? Average value. The food was nice, and presented beautifully, but taste was nothing amazing. We agreed that the best dish was the oysters. My wife also enjoyed her steak. Overall I felt the dishes needed more flavour. I would still come here again though, its the nicest place in HI to eat for sure. More

My partner and I went here in January 2024 and Loved loved loved the food! We had a lovely Sommelier / waiter Alex, who offered great service and answered all questions!! We tried the 7 course chef special with the wine pairing- we left with... our stomachs full and feeling a little bit tipsy Very nice atmosphere and great tables, food came out in a consistent fashion and we were never waiting long between courses. Door was fresh; flavourful and we struggled to rate the best dishes Thank you Bommie for taking care of us, we had a great time! More

yacht club restaurant hamilton island

Beautiful view, favourite restaurant on the island. We enjoyed cocktails at sunset on the outside deck during our stay on Hamilton Island. On our final night we had dinner in the Bommie. Definitely my favourite restaurant, 3 course menu, food were generous sized portions. We... started with extra course of oysters 3 ways then, crispy skin pork belly for entree, tenderloin beef mains very tender, desert was cheesecake with rhubarb and sorbet. Excellent food and service More

yacht club restaurant hamilton island

We went for the 6 course degustation and were underwhelmed by the food ingredients and the wine options. Not worth the price to me. I suppose it's hard to get nice ingredients shipped to an island. The restaurant is indoor seating only, and the bar... area is outdoors (very pretty). It's nice if you have the budget to spend, but otherwise, save your money for cities like Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. The food was prepared well enough, and the ambiance was pretty, but some dishes were pretty basic, like cucumber, tomatoes and balsamic. For that price, I would have expected gourmet ingredients like nuts, micro-greens or rare seasonal items. The wine list was limited and our bottle tasted off. Should have sent it back. Adjust your expectations. More

yacht club restaurant hamilton island

Terrible food and definitely not worth the $130 pp they charged for the 3 course menu. It was certainly not fine dining! Firstly, we found a hair in our oysters which was quickly taken away and replaced. The scallop ceviche was tasteless and drowning in... a consommé that did not complement the dish. The crisp was soggy with a burnt after taste. The Moreton bay fettuccine was a disaster. Pasta was undercooked and seafood (prawn and Moreton bay bug) was over cooked and chewy. The cheesecake dessert was also disappointing, as it was basically a thin slice of cream cheese presented on the plate with a dabble of sauce. No texture or flavour. The only saving grace was the friendly and attentive staff. However even they could not save the overpriced and underwhelming meal we had. We will not be returning nor would we recommend this restaurant. More

Echoing all the other reviews that state the food here is the only disappointing aspect. Service is exceptional (although they need some alcohol free wine options - currently none and the space between courses was a little too long. The oysters were the best part... of the meal (and they were extra on the tasting menu) The presentation was incredible but everything was bland or ok - which is so odd because the opportunity to wow was definitely there! We were kind of bored by the time the dessert arrived and keen to go home - not what you want from a fine dining experience A nice opportunity to get dressed up and dine in a beautifully designed restaurant More

Pebble Beach

Inside the award-winning resort, Qualia, is, you guessed it, a highly awarded restaurant. Pebble Beach is the island’s gold standard of fine dining, and it’s pretty hard to beat. The dinner format is a six-course tasting menu celebrating local seafood and produce. It’s a modern Australian restaurant with international inspirations shining through the flavours, including Asian. The menu consistently changes, but in the past, it has featured cuttlefish choux, marron with porcini and fired seaweed, and a 6+ score tajima wagyu, dressed in qualia botanicals. The matching wines hail from Australia, Italy, and France and are highly recommended.

This waterfront restaurant blends spicy and sweet Asian flavours with modern Australian produce and style. Commanding waterfront views over Catseye Beach, Coca Chu is a popular place for a long lunch or sunset dinner. The menu is fun and fresh, with a hawker-style street food ethos. Although, the plates are still well-presented and highly colourful. Diners will find the plates are ample enough to share and can range from crispy chicken wings to massaman curry with braised beef. The dry red curry pork belly is always a winner, as is the salt and pepper squid with nahm jim.

Pizzeria and Gelato Bar

Island living is all about the laidback lifestyle. At Pizzeria Gelato Bar, diners will find themselves in the heart of Marina Village. There’s nothing fancy about the restaurant. There are water views, barista-made coffee, and beers on tap, but the pizza here is why you will see its tables packed with families, couples, and friends. There are over 20 thin-crust pizzas on the menu, topped with everything from seafood to veggies. After munching on a slice, grab a gelato to lick on the way home. Located within the Reef View Hotel , right beside the property’s trademark Reef View Hotel Pool, this Hamilton Island restaurant offers a range of meals to help you fuel up ahead of a big afternoon, or help you wind down after a morning spent swimming.

Keep your sunnies on as you feast, overlooking the glorious lap pool, on share plates including mac and cheese croquettes, Szechuan pepper fried squid, pork and prawn wontons and crudo fish with coconut cream and a squid ink cracker. If tummies are really rumbling, there’s also the salted snapper and mushroom risottos, a classic cheeseburger with chips, the poached tuna salad and the battered barramundi with Asian slaw.

12. Clubhouse Restaurant

One of the most scenic Hamilton Island restaurants is undoubtedly the Clubhouse Restaurant , part of the Hamilton Island Golf Club and located atop Dent Island. You’ll feel totally immersed in the dazzling Coral Sea as you spy glistening waters below, plus a glimpse of Passage Peak, one of Hamilton Island’s most picturesque walking trails .

The Clubhouse Restaurant on Dent Island offers sensational views. (Hamilton Island Golf Club/ Tourism Australia)

At the Clubhouse, which requires you to set sail from Hamilton Island itself to Dent Island, humpback whales have been spotted from large glass windows that allow almost every table in the house an enchanting view. And the best is yet to come. A brilliant, seasonal menu that works inspired magic with local produce includes torched salmon with sushi rice, seared scallops with pancetta, chicken breast with Jamon croquette, caramelised fennel, brussels sprouts and chicken jus, and a lamb rump with parsnip puree, minted salsa verde, baby carrots, pistachio and hung yoghurt.

The dress code is smart casual so leave your singlets, denim, boardies and rubber thongs at your accommodation.

A great spot to grab a casual meal between your day’s activities, Sails restaurant is located at the centre of Hamilton Island’s most happening hub, right next to Main Pool. Offering hearty meals and views out of Catseye Beach plus the Instagram-friendly Dolphin Pool, Sails also serves a lavish daily buffet breakfast, available to anybody staying on Hamilton Island.

The restaurant’s a la carte menu features small plates including bocconcini pasta salad, karaage chicken and salt and pepper squid, in addition to larger meals such as the reuben sandwich with pastrami, swiss cheese, sauerkraut and fries, and the pork belly burger with house-made kimchi, chipotle mayonnaise and fries.

 14. Marina Tavern

Missing your favourite pub fare from back home? Make a beeline to the local Hamilton Island pub, the Marina Tavern , overlooking the Hamilton Island Marina. Seats are sprawled out across its large outdoor deck, which offers the perfect meeting spot for large groups.

The Marina Hamilton Island

Generous pub classics are the biggest hits on the menu here, with four terrific Parmi options taking centre stage, plus a range of burgers and wraps, battered or grilled barramundi options, porterhouse and scotch fillet steaks and a selection of salads. The selection of snacks are worth a squiz, too. Choose from cheesy garlic bread, onion rings, Buffalo chicken drumettes and more as you sink cold ones long into the afternoon.
