Three models for performance cruising yachts at the sydney international boat show 2022.

Sydney-based Performance Cruising Yachts will have three yachts on display at the Sydney International Boat Show (SIBS) from 29 July to 1 August, including two debutantes.

The company is set to debut its first catamaran – the Dufour 48 – with the stunning and award-winning Elan GT6 also making her SIBS debut. The equally as impressive Impression 40.1 will also be at the show.

The Dufour 48 Catamaran built in Italy by JJL Catamarans, the GT6 and Impression 40.1 from Slovenian bespoke builder Elan Yachts.  The standout characteristic amongst them all is the high quality fit, finish and components used making them stand out models in their class.

Performance Cruising Yachts is the Australian and New Zealand distributor for Dufour Catamarans, formerly owned by Dufour Yachts and purchased by established Italian boatbuilders JJL Catamarans in 2020.

Matt Hayes, owner and CEO of Performance Cruising Yachts, Olympic yachtsman and circumnavigator, is looking forward to showcasing the first catamaran from the brand, the Dufour 48. “We have been selling yachts in the Australian market for 18 years and we are beyond excited to add this prestigious catamaran to our portfolio,” Hayes said.

The Dufour 48 Catamaran is beautifully constructed, built in Italy by Italian craftsmen and designed by the revered and world-famous Italian naval architect, Umberto Felci. The contemporary design ensures a combination of style and performance to make for the perfect cruising catamaran. The cabinetry is of high quality and the layout stylish and ergonomic. There are abundant outdoor living spaces for entertaining and laying in the sun. The sliding galley windows cleverly connect the galley to the lower deck seating area and open up the entire lower deck. There are four well-appointed and air-conditioned double cabins all with queen size beds and ensuites. This model also offers a separate day head, laundry and skipper’s cabin. Hayes said it is the perfect yacht for liveaboard cruising, long ocean journeys or just entertaining on the harbour.

The Dufour 48 Catamaran

This beautifully built catamaran was designed by the revered and world-famous Italian naval architect Umberto Felci. The contemporary design ensures a combination of style and performance to make for the perfect cruising catamaran. The cabinetry is of high quality and the layout stylish and ergonomic.

There are abundant outdoor living spaces for entertaining and laying in the sun. The sliding galley windows cleverly connect the galley to the lower deck seating area and open up the entire lower deck. The salon is light, bright and airy with plenty of food preparation areas and benchtop space and lots storage cupboards and drawers.

The Elan GT6

Making her debut at SIBS, Elan’s GT6 is beautifully crafted, emanating from the drawing boards of Porsche and Humphreys Yacht Design. The GT6 – winner of the Red Dot Design Award in 2021 – is a next-generation Grand Tourer that has the perfect balance of speed and power, comfort and luxury, good handling and precise control.

The high-performance hull and sail plan by Humphreys Yacht Design are optimised for short-handed, medium-range cruising. Three generations of Humphreys/Elan design evolution and extensive CFD modelling have produced a refined yacht that handles like a thoroughbred and delivers exhilarating performance on all points of sail, across the full range of wind and sea conditions. Unique styling by Studio F. A. The Impression 40.1 for Yacht Share

Also on display is the Elan Impression 40.1, a beautiful yacht with many upgraded features. The large cockpit is clad in beautiful teak wood and is very spacious with plenty of seating and storage lockers. The bimini sunshade covers the entire seating area providing shade on those long hot Sydney summer days. The drop-down transom provides a large swim deck complete with hot and cold shower and built-in swim ladder.

Below deck, this yacht is all luxury and class with masses of light and ventilation and beautifully crafted woodwork. The yacht has three spacious double cabins with plenty of headroom. SYDNEY BOAT SHOW: Six new yachts from Performance Cruising

Dufour grand large 382 and dufour grand large 310 to debut in sydney with elan s3 and elan e5.

Performance Cruising Yachts, recently named new Australian distributor for Dufour Performance Cruising Yachts, is bringing an armada of new models to the Sydney International Boat Show from Dufour and Slovenia's Elan, as well as the company's established Hunter cruisers. All up there will be six yachts on display at the Performance Cruising Yachts stand in Cockle Bay.

Managing Director Matt Hayes has high expectations of elevating Dufour to the next level in Australia: "Dufour's reputation for building quality, fast cruising boats is well illustrated by the two latest models we are bringing to Sydney – the entry level Grande Large 310 and the three cabin 382," said Hayes.

The La Rochelle based yard offers two ranges, it's popular Grand Large cruising range and the Performance range. A throughout the models are the elegant hulls penned by Italian designer Umberto Felci whose reputation for fast boats is well known. The Grand Large 31 is an ideal first yacht, featuring two large cabins with double doors forward to create an airy saloon.

On deck, a wide spacious cockpit is ideal for cruising, especially with the opening swim platform. Moving up a notch, for families or crewed sailing, the Grand Large 382 offers blue-water luxury thanks to various layout options. These include two or three cabins, along with a choice of galley styles and even a large walk-in locker.

Elsewhere in the Performance Cruising Yachts stable is the stylish Rob Humphreys designed Elan range that promise performance with fully-fitted interiors, so you can bring the silverware home from Hamilton Island Race Week while also enjoying family cruising. The hot new Elan S3 is definitely a highlight for those aspiring twilight racers thanks to its lighter 31 foot hull, removable furnishings and keel-stepped mast. The first S version to be presented in Australia features the latest vacuum infusion techniques that makes it seven per cent lighter than the standard E version.

Performance features includes a bulbed keel with lead option for high stability, a rockered shape for nimbleness and twin rudders for managing the beam which is stylishly tucked in by hard chines.

Also debuting at the Sydney Show is the Elan E5 which brings some serious competition to the 40 foot category in the performance-cruiser arena. The most popular size for cruising and racing, the E5 allows a wide variety of sailing, ranging from fast coastal hops to longer voyages. The E5 comes with plenty cruising features such as a fully fitted light oak interior and a sea kindly hull that is deep and fairly rounded, rather than flatter at the ends like its sportier sibling the E3.

Also on show will be an award winning cruiser from the American Hunter yard, the Hunter 37.

Appealing to the traditional cruising sailor because of its voluminous hull and protected cockpit, the Hunter 37 has a queen-sized aft berth, ensuite bathroom and a similar-sized galley to the 40 foot model, so plenty of usable space in this 2014 design.

For those seeking the ultimate in cruising comforts Elan's Impression range is the way to go so the Impression 40 arriving in Sydney is worth a serious look for couples seeking to voyage further. Hayes sais this luxury cruising yacht is very affordable because part ownership is available through the charter arm of Performance Cruising Yachts, Sydney By Sail.

Sydney By Sail has 20 years experience of getting people on the water and Hayes sees the Impression 40 as an ideal yacht for this. The arrival of ‘Lenny’ - the First 44 Performance in Sydney

We are pleased to announce that 'Lenny,' a First 44 Performance yacht and the division runner-up of Transpac 2023, has successfully completed her journey from Hawaii to Australia and has arrived in Sydney. This remarkable achievement sets the stage for the prestigious Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race later this year.

During their voyage, the crew made stopovers at Fiji and New Caledonia, facing challenging weather conditions and demonstrating their resilience. Overcoming a ridge of high pressure and winds exceeding 40 knots, they reached the Australian coast on October 20th. Congratulations to the crew for their determination and skill!

The Transpacific Yacht Race (Transpac) is a distinguished biennial offshore event, covering a distance of approximately 2,225 nautical miles. The race begins at the Pt. Fermin buoy in San Pedro, California, and concludes at Diamond Head in Hawaii.

The owner of 'Lenny,' Charles-Etienne Devanneaux, is a seasoned ocean racer and the proud owner of Naos Yachts, the Beneteau dealership in California. Charles shares his admiration for the yacht, highlighting its exceptional safety features, well-designed deck, and cockpit. The crew encountered minimal technical issues throughout their voyage, further emphasizing the reliability and performance of 'Lenny.'

Currently docked at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) in Sydney, 'Lenny' and its experienced crew, led by Charles, are preparing for the upcoming Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. In addition, they will participate in the Beneteau Cup – Sydney which will be held at CYCA on October 27th. This event not only provides an opportunity for friendly competition but also allows them to connect with the vibrant Beneteau owners community in Australia.

Looking ahead to the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2023, 'Lenny' will be manned by Charles and his skilled French sailors, along with Yann Masselot, Chief Brands and Communication Officer for Groupe Beneteau's Boat division. Their combined expertise and dedication make for a formidable team.
