National treasure: making history.
National Treasure: Edge of History is a new action-adventure series brought to us by Disney + . Unlike the movies, the Series does not have Nicolas Cage as the main character, Benjamin Gates. The series instead follows the main character of Jess Valenzuela's journey as she uncovers a lost treasure, hidden for centuries. One of the notable aspects of the television series is the representation of women, with many adventure-action movies and shows typically featuring women as side-kicks or love interests of the main, male protagonist. We all love seeing action-packed characters like Indiana Jones and The Mummy's Rick O'Connell. However, it is refreshing to see another female Tomb-raider-like character on our screens!

10 best ghost hunting paranormal reality tv shows.
Ghost Hunters launched back in 2004, introducing viewers to paranormal reality TV. Many other exciting and spooky ghost-themed series followed.
It may be nearly summertime, but spooky shows don't need to be relegated to the Halloween season. Creepy shows, such as the recent Conjuring Kesha or Zak Bagan’s annual Ghost Adventures Halloween Special, enchant viewers year-round. They'll keep anyone up all night, contemplating what they know about the afterlife.
Regarding paranormal reality TV, Ghost Hunters set the stage for the rise of several phantom-seeking shows. Episodes were filled with adrenaline-fueled action and tense investigations. Even the most skeptical viewers will sleep with one eye open after a night of binging any of these haunting reality series. With new shows such as Paramormal Frequency or Lockwood & Co. in the mix, revisiting the ten best ghost-hunting series is recommended.
Help! My House Is Haunted
Following a group of paranormal researchers in the United Kingdom, Help! My House Is Haunted investigates the homes of everyday people witnessing chilling, unexplained hauntings. Created by Ghost Adventures' Zak, the series inspects places plagued by paranormal entities, in order to gauge their authenticity fully. Unlike most ghost shows that are filmed in the United States, Help! My House Is Haunted explores the ominous events of a different country, which is sometimes tied to the nation's significant and rich history.
Ghost Asylum (2014–16)
Ghost Asylum rejects the usually broad scope of ghost-hunting shows. It focuses its energy solely on allegedly haunted asylums, which always seem to be hot spots for activity in every single paranormal reality series. Though the show may have lost its longevity by choosing this route, it enriched each episode with the pasts of the facilities in question. They were often home to the most tragic and horrific stories, as patients were mistreated. Furthermore, the show offers a unique group of investigators called the Tennessee Wraith Chasers, whose passionate personalities are entertaining.
Dead Famous: Ghostly Encounters (2004–06)
As a celebrity-fueled paranormal reality show that aired for just three seasons, Dead Famous: Ghostly Encounters portrayed the high-octane quests of a clairvoyant and skeptic. They searched for the spirits of dead celebrities. Using elements of music and stagecraft, the two journeyed across America, attempting to gain contact with world-class entertainers like Frank Sinatra. At the same time, they sought to validate the existence of life after death, and the presence of thought-to-be-gone famous personalities. Their efforts are unlike any ghost series, packing on another layer of challenge.
Paranormal State (2007–11)
Led by Ryan Buell, Paranormal State is the only ghost-hunting show featuring a student paranormal research society of a university, Pennsylvania State. The club featured a revolving cast, as they dissected the supposed hauntings of American locations. What made the show truly special was the intense personalities of its cast, and the incorporation of their hectic college lives. As the show progresses, viewers are introduced to the second story arc. A demon allegedly follows Ryan throughout his life, making it that much more compelling.
Portals To Hell (2019–2022)
Following in the footsteps of many other ghost-hunting shows, Jack Osbourne capitalizes on his fame to investigate potential portals to the netherworld. They're located in some of the most haunted areas on Earth. Instead of concentrating on specific spirits, Portals to Hell examines the origins of the hauntings, and the complex history behind them. From once-slave plantations to wells that may cloak demons, the charismatic Jack and his crew risk possession and harm to bring the audience evidence of evil spirits.
Paranormal Lockdown (2016–2019)
One of the common pitfalls of ghost-hunting shows is when the investigators pack up and end their searches for the night, leaving viewers wondering why they hadn’t continued until morning. This is precisely why Paranormal Lockdown earns itself a spot as one of the best paranormal reality shows. The series remedies the time issue by going all-out, and spending 72 hours straight in each location being investigated. This leads to the inescapable terror of its cast. Left with nowhere else to run, the ghost hunters can fully process the energy that's all around them. They give the speculative spirits a chance to become more comfortable with the crew’s presence.
The Dead Files (2011–present)
Out of every ghost-hunting show, The Dead Files has the most unusual approach to uncovering and applying the potential paranormal aspects of crime, and applying it to episodes. This is done through the solid and cooperative skills of a retired detective and a psychic medium. After each investigation, the two compare notes, which almost always correlate, and seem to prove that the hauntings are genuine. The show thrives by keeping its viewers intrigued, thanks to highly accurate sketches of those who are said to haunt the locations. The crime-focused storylines also supply some bone-chilling thrills. The Dead Files season 15 will premiere in June 2023.
Kindred Spirits (2016–present)
Kindred Spirits is about making contact with spirits, and unveiling their motives for haunting the area. Cast members attempt to assist them in passing over or leaving the place. This is incredibly unique, given similar series' aggravation tactics. The investigators are less frightened and dramatic than other paranormal television hosts. However, they're rewarded with more valid data to put towards solving the hauntings themselves. On top of this, the show often includes interviews, even from the people being haunted during the investigations.
Ghost Adventures (2008–present)
This is quite possibly the most popular ghost-hunting show of all time, due to the aggressive nature of investigator Zak. Ghost Adventures brings increasingly eerie, often historical locations across the world right to viewers' television screens. It shows no mercy, as ghouls are harassed. However, those spirits torment the living.
The dramatic reactions of Zak and his personable crew egg on the audience, as they experience activity that makes their blood run cold. Sometimes, the hauntings injure them, or make them physically ill. That adds considerable tension to its most significant episodes. To inflate the show's wild energy, the cast uses an array of gadgets, such as motion detectors, electronic voice phenomenon recorders, and infrared cameras. These authenticate their pseudoscientific research.
Ghost Hunters (2004–20)
The one that started it all is the best paranormal show of all time - Ghost Hunters . It follows the TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) investigative team as they scour the world for unarguable proof of real hauntings. The crew goes the extra mile by doing everything possible to debunk unauthentic evidence. They don't want to jump the gun when it comes to sharing that spirits are present. Ghost Hunters continue to up the ante with spin-offs like Ghost Nation , innovating and refining their craft using scientific equipment, such as electromagnetic field meters.

Best Hera Syndulla Episodes of Star Wars Rebels
Posted: November 24, 2023 | Last updated: November 24, 2023
Star Wars Rebels introduced the heroic crew of the Ghost to the galaxy far, far away. The animated series, which began its story 5 years before Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope , charted the journey of this rebel cell as the wider Rebel Alliance was formed and the war against the Empire began in earnest. The Ghost crew consisted of all-new heroes, who put new twists on familiar Star Wars archetypes. Kanan Jarrus became the Jedi mentor to Ezra Bridger, though his own Jedi training had been incomplete. Chopper was a far more chaotic and cantankerous astromech droid than any that had been seen before. Hera Syndulla similarly brought a strong maternal figure to the front lines of Star Wars .
Hera was a Twi'lek and the daughter of freedom fighter Cham Syndulla, who had been seen on Star Wars: The Clone Wars . As captain of the Ghost and co-leader of its rebel crew, the Spectres, she took on a central role in Rebels , growing across the series as her rebel family grew up and discovered their own paths around her. Hera has gone on to play a prominent role in Disney's constantly growing new Star Wars canon, most recently returning in Ahsoka , which saw Mary Elizabeth Winstead bring Hera into live-action. However, it was Rebels that first established and developed Hera into the legendary hero she has become.
Out of Darkness
One of the first episodes of Star Wars Rebels to focus on Hera, "Out of Darkness" centered on emerging tensions between the Ghost's captain and Sabine Wren. Hera's refusal to share details of the rebels' secret informant, code-named Fulcrum, led Sabine to feel she was not trusted by her captain. Sabine therefore insisted on joining Hera on her next supply run, in hopes of meeting Fulcrum.
The episode saw Hera and Sabine alone together at Fort Anaxes, an old asteroid base used by Republic forces during the Clone Wars . Here, Hera had a chance to connect with Sabine, demonstrating both her care for her crewmate and her commitment to the larger rebellion. When the supply run went awry and the two had to fend off feral Fyrnocks, Sabine learned to trust Hera.
10 Darkest Chopper Moments on Star Wars Rebels
"Idiot's Array" marked one of the earliest instances of an established character from the Star Wars movies appearing on Rebels , with Lando Calrissian teaming up with the crew of the Ghost. The episode saw Lando up to his old tricks as a gambling cheat and a swindler. When the men of the Ghost found themselves infuriated by Lando and Sabine started falling for his charms, it fell to Hera to keep a level head and see their mission through.
The episode demonstrated Hera's capability and strengths in fending for herself. When Lando's plan forced Hera to unexpectedly pose as a slave for the repulsive Azmorigan, she was able to engineer her own escape and return to the Ghost, where she kept the peace between the crew and Lando.
Wings of the Master
Hera's piloting skills were evident from the very first episodes of Star Wars Rebels , but they were never demonstrated more powerfully than on the Season 2 episode, "Wings of the Master." Struggling to break through an Imperial blockade, the rebels of Phoenix Squadron realized they needed a ship with the firepower to take on Star Destroyers.
Meeting a Mon Calamari engineer called Quarrie on Shantipole -- a world known to be lethal to starships -- Hera test-flew his latest creation, a blockade-busting prototype B-Wing. The episode saw Hera victoriously flying the B-Wing through the hostile conditions of Shantipole and against the Empire, but also explored her backstory, revealing she had been inspired by Republic pilots during the Clone Wars.
"The Call" was the episode of Star Wars Rebels that introduced the Purrgil, giant space whales that would play a vital role in the animated series' finale, as well as in the events of Ahsoka . While this episode primarily put Ezra Bridger in the spotlight, with the young Jedi connecting to the Purrgil through the Force, a key conflict also played out around Hera.
The episode revealed Hera's dislike of the Purrgil, which she claimed were a constant danger to pilots throughout the galaxy. Her low opinion of the Purrgil led to Hera dismissing the myths that claimed they inspired hyperspace travel. However, through Ezra, Hera was able to overcome her old prejudices and see the Purrgil's value.
10 Rebels Characters Star Wars Should Bring Into Live Action Next
Hera's surname had hinted at her connection to The Clone Wars ' Twi'lek freedom fighter, Cham Syndulla. In the Season 2 episode "Homecoming," it was revealed that Cham was Hera's father when she returned home to Ryloth and met with him. The episode spotlighted the rift between the two, with Cham focused solely on helping his own people, while Hera was more concerned with aiding the Rebellion.
Hera's reunion with her father gave viewers more insight into her history and the heroic lineage from which she was descended. The episode also touched upon the complicated relationship between Hera and Kanan, with Kanan evidently nervous to meet Hera's father and then becoming eager to help them get along with each other.
The Mystery of Chopper Base
"The Mystery of Chopper Base" saw the rebels settling into their new base on the planet Atollon . The episode's primary plot dealt with the rebels fending off the predatory giant spiders with which they were sharing the planet, but a greater danger loomed over their heads: Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka were preparing for their mission to Malachor, a planet long forbidden to the Jedi.
Throughout "The Mystery of Chopper Base," Hera was seen trying to prepare the rebels (and herself) to cope without their Jedi allies, fearing what may come of their mission to Malachor. The episode was able to showcase Hera's vulnerabilities as well as her strength of character all at once, as her fear of losing Kanan motivated her to better prepare the other rebels for the future.
"Hera's Heroes" saw Hera and the crew of the Ghost return to Ryloth for another reunion with Cham Syndulla. This time around, Hera and her father were better aligned in their struggle against the Empire. After learning her family home had been taken over by Imperial forces, Hera decided to launch her own mission to recover a Kalikori, a family heirloom that Twi'leks would add to over the generations.
The episode was notable for being the first time that any members of the Ghost crew met Grand Admiral Thrawn . Thrawn realizing who Hera was when she posed as a lost servant and seeing through Ezra's Stormtrooper disguise, immediately made clear that his intellect outstripped most Imperial officers. His confrontation with Hera pitted two great minds of the Empire and the Rebellion against one another, beginning an enmity for the ages.
10 Essential Thrawn Episodes of Star Wars: Rebels to Watch With Ahsoka
When Star Wars Rebels started, Hera was simply leading the five other Spectres in their small-scale missions to combat the Empire. As the series went on, the Spectres' role developed. They joined Phoenix Squadron and steadily became more involved with the wider rebellion against the Empire. "Secret Cargo" saw them assisting Mon Mothma as she defected from the Senate and formally established the Rebel Alliance.
Responsible for getting Mon Mothma safely beyond the Empire's grasp to host the meeting where she would form the Alliance, Hera flew the Ghost through the Archeon Nebula, a death-defying act that saw Hera contending with the deadly force of a forming star. Hera's risky maneuvers paid off and Mon Mothma declared the formation of the Rebel Alliance from the cockpit of the Ghost.
On Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels , "Rebel Assault" saw Hera leading an attack on the Empire's blockade of Lothal, putting her in the cockpit of an X-Wing for the first time. The episode got to show Hera in a new light, leading a rebel squadron, rather than her usual band of Spectres aboard the Ghost. As well as demonstrating her ability at the controls of one Star Wars ' most popular starfighters , it showed her capability on the ground.
After Hera and her squadron were forced to crash land on Lothal, she led her troops as they attempted to flee the pursuing Imperial forces. Ultimately, Hera helped her allies reach safety at her own expense, offering herself up to the Empire while the other rebel pilots made their escape.
After a long and complicated relationship thanks to the impact of the Galactic Civil War, things finally came to a head between Hera and Kanan in the Star Wars Rebels Season 4 episode, "Jedi Night." The episode picked up where "Rebel Assault" left off and saw Kanan, Ezra and Sabine launching a mission to rescue Hera from Imperial captivity.
The episode sees Hera resisting Governor Pryce's best efforts at interrogation, but delivers one of Hera's biggest character moments after Kanan Jarrus arrives to rescue her. After years of having to put their feelings for each other aside to focus on the mission, Hera finally tells Kanan that she loves him. The two share a kiss, but sadly, when they come under attack moments later, Kanan gives his life to save Hera.
