‘Ghost Hunters’ New Season Details and Episode Descriptions

The TAPS team is reuniting for a reboot of Ghost Hunters premiering on discovery+ on New Year’s Day. The new season stars paranormal investigators Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves, and Dave Tango, as well as Shari DeBenedetti and the Destination Fear team.

The upcoming season will consist of 12 new one-hour episodes.

“It’s such a great feeling doing what we love together as a team and under the show name that created a genre,” said Hawes. “ Ghost Hunters is back with the names and faces you recognize, investigating some incredible locations with new equipment and in our style.”

“This whole new season of Ghost Hunters has some of the creepiest locations, best evidence, and familiar faces that the viewers will be excited to see,” stated Tango. “I’m excited for everyone to get that classic Ghost Hunters nostalgia they’ve been missing, but in a whole, fresh new way.”

discovery+ provided the following synopsis and new season episode descriptions:

“The reboot of Ghost Hunters follows the team as they crisscross the country searching for answers in the nation’s most haunted locations including: the Old Joliet Prison in Joliet, Illinois; a haunted hotel with a dark past in Nebraska; a brewery in Pittsburgh; and a Virginia castle that might have visitors from outer space. Joining the core team are a host of experts from different paranormal backgrounds that add their own points-of-view and prowess to each unique case. Even the rock legend Meat Loaf joins the TAPS team on an investigation of an old haunting that is still scaring the local community.”

Ghost Hunters New Season Episodes:

• Episode 1 — “The Lost Souls of Joliet” Begins streaming Saturday, January 1, 2022 on discovery+ Dakota Laden, Tanner Wiseman and Alex Schroeder of “Destination Fear” join TAPS as they take on Old Joliet Prison. Unsettling paranormal activity has been ramping up at the now-shuttered penitentiary, and volunteers there are desperate for answers.
• Episode 2 — “Lost Bones of the Argo” Begins streaming Saturday, January 8 on discovery+ Satori Hawes and Cody DesBiens join TAPS for an investigation at a Nebraska hotel with a grim and grisly past. With frightening phenomena taking hold of the property, the owners need TAPS’ help to determine how safe it is for guests.
• Episode 3 — “The Haunted Brewery” Begins streaming Saturday, January 15 on discovery+ TAPS investigates a church-turned-brewery in Pittsburgh where ominous apparitions roam the floor and ghostly footsteps echo above. The team looks to an accidental death that took place on the property to help solve the mystery behind the haunting.
• Episode 4 — “The Castle Light Mystery” Begins streaming Saturday, January 22 on discovery+ TAPS heads to Virginia to explore Bacon’s Castle where for centuries people have witnessed an eerie ball of light traveling around the property. UFO expert Ben Hansen joins the investigation to determine if this ghostly orb is extraterrestrial in origin.
• Episode 5 — “Ghosts of Gaines Tavern” Begins streaming Saturday, January 29 on discovery+ TAPS visits a 19th-century Kentucky tavern plagued by a series of murders and suicides. The city is getting ready to reopen the building to the public, and the mayor wants to be sure that remnants of its tragic past don’t resurface as dangerous entities.
• Episode 6 — “A Boy and Buried Secrets” Begins streaming Saturday, February 5 on discovery+ A Virginia winery is ripe with unexplained occurrences. Frightened by the daily disruptions and run-ins with apparitions, the owners bring in TAPS to investigate the strange phenomena to find out if it threatens the safety of family, employees and guests.
• Episode 7 — “The Haunted House on the Hill” Begins streaming Saturday, February 12 on discovery+ Rock legend Meat Loaf joins TAPS to investigate an old farmhouse in Tennessee. Rumors of terrifying activity have plagued the property for decades, but the new owners want to reassure the community that their home doesn’t harbor dangerous entities.
• Episode 8 — “The Girl With No Eyes” Begins streaming Saturday, February 19 on discovery+ TAPS calls in Dustin Pari to join them in a baffling case in rural Kansas. Residents of an old farmhouse have reported unnerving paranormal activity over the past decade, and the new owners desperately need answers as to who – or what – is haunting the home.
• Episode 9 — “Wraiths of Winchester” Begins streaming Saturday, February 26 on discovery+ TAPS investigates the Philip Williams House, a historic Virginia home bloodied by the Civil War and haunted by unexplained apparitions and violence. Secrets concealed beneath its floors may be tied to the extensive paranormal phenomena.
• Episode 10 — “Moonshiner Spirits” Begins streaming Saturday, March 5 on discovery+ Amy Bruni and Adam Berry of Kindred Spirits join TAPS as the team investigates White Hill Mansion in Fieldsboro, New Jersey.
• Episode 11 — “The Shadow Man” Begins streaming Saturday, March 12 on discovery+ Former Ghost Hunters investigator Kris Williams joins TAPS as the team investigates the Collingwood Arts Center in Toledo, Ohio.
• Episode 12 — “Tortured Souls of Cresson” Begins streaming Saturday, March 19 on discovery+ The Ghost Brothers and Dustin Pari join TAPS as the team investigates Cresson Sanitorium in Pennsylvania.

The Team is Back for New Revival of “Ghost Hunters” Coming to Discovery+ Later This Year

The mega-hit paranormal television series “Ghost Hunters” is getting brand new episodes on the Discovery+ streaming service, we’ve learned today via an official press release.

The press release explains, “This is the revival of the series that started it all. discovery+ has given the greenlight to the iconic series, Ghost Hunters . O riginal team leader  Jason Hawes and Steve Gonsalves , Dave Tango and Shari DeBenedetti are taking back the paranormal reins in epic haunted locations. And don’t be surprised to see some familiar faces and special guests join the team on the hunt in this all-new version of the hit series. The 13 one-hour episodes will begin streaming later this year on discovery+.”

“Fans are obsessed with the Paranormal & Unexplained hub on the new streaming platform,” said Matthew Butler, general manager, Travel Channel. “ Bringing back ‘Ghost Hunters’ with their favorite cast members is a thrill.  And fans who want to remember why this show is a classic can watch seasons from the original series – they are available now on discovery+.”

“Ghost Hunters” is produced by Pilgrim Media Group for discovery+. For Pilgrim Media Group, the executive producers are Craig Piligian and Eddie Rohwedder.

For discovery+, the producer is Kristen Teraila.

“Ghost Hunters” originally premiered back in 2004 and ran for eleven seasons. The series was revived by A&E for two brand new seasons in 2019, bringing the total to 13 seasons.

Jason Hawes

Jason Hawes has been investigating claims of paranormal activity since 1990 and is looked at as the leading authority in the field of supernatural and paranormal studies. Due to his pioneering efforts, the practice of paranormal investigation has advanced to international phenomenon status. Hawes has handled cases for law enforcement, religious organizations and U.S. government agencies.

Prior to the reboot of “Ghost Hunters” on discovery+ in 2021, he and his fellow investigators launched “Ghost Nation” on Travel Channel in 2019. Hawes served as the co-creator, narrator, producer and star of “Ghost Hunters,” which ran for 11 Seasons on the Syfy Channel. Hawes is a New York Times best-selling author of six books on the paranormal and is the creator and co-host of the nationally syndicated radio show “Beyond Reality Radio.”

He is also the founder of the most visited paranormal website in the world, The-Atlantic-Paranormal-Society.com, and he has created a network of paranormal researchers known as “The TAPS Family” that spans the globe with bases in more than 40 U.S. States and 14 Countries. He has been featured on the “Today Show,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “The View,” “CNN, MSNBC, “Dateline,” “20/20” and more.

STEVE GONSALVES

Steve Gonsalves, a former police officer, has been a public speaker and educator about paranormal phenomena for more than 18 years. Prior to the reboot of “Ghost Hunters” on discovery+ in 2021, he and his fellow investigators launched “Ghost Nation” on Travel Channel in 2019. The paranormal pioneer helped pave the way for a worldwide paranormal explosion as a main cast member of the hit television series “Ghost Hunters,” which included the spin-offs “Ghost Hunters Live” and “Ghost Hunters Academy.”

Gonsalves started his work in paranormal studies at a very young age and is well-educated in the field, having investigated over 1,000 reportedly haunted locations. He had the privilege of working closely with famed investigator and paranormal pioneer Dr. William G. Roll (Poltergeist) at the Rhine Research Center, and Ed and Lorraine Warren in the field.

Along with his multiple appearances on a variety of paranormal series, Gonsalves executive produced the horror short “The Captured Bird,” alongside famed writer and director Guillermo Del Toro. He has also been a featured guest on numerous television shows and radio programs, including “The View,” “Fox and Friends,” “Steve Harvey,” “Larry King Live” and “Katie” featuring Katie Couric, “Dr. Oz” and “The Drew Barrymore Show.” Aside from his work on camera, Gonsalves has an untitled book in the works and recently he directed and produced the #1 documentary of 2021 “The House In Between.”

Dave Tango – better known as “Tango” – is one of the world’s leading paranormal authorities, best known as an investigator and tech manager on the hit shows “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Hunters Academy.” Prior to the reboot of “Ghost Hunters” on discovery+ in 2021, he and his fellow investigators launched “Ghost Nation” on Travel Channel in 2019.

Tango’s origins in the paranormal can be traced back to the stories his father (an Elizabeth, NJ police officer) told him of his unexplained encounters while on the force. As a child, Tango was always intrigued by mysteries and the unknown, which led him to pursue magic as a serious hobby, and it remains an integral part of what makes Tango tick. He attributes this background to his knack for problem solving, and his ability to distinguish between what is real and what’s simply an illusion.

Trained by the best in the paranormal field, Tango’s ghost-hunting philosophy is to never be afraid to try new techniques and always experiment in the field. His trademark genuineness and sometimes strange curiosity are what fans most undoubtedly love about him. Aside from being the quirky one at his paranormal day job, Dave has been a fan of stranger things since long before it was cool – from 80s synth to video games.

SHARI DEBENEDETTI

Shari DeBenedetti became interested in the paranormal field at a very young age as she experienced many strange and unexplained things. But it wasn’t until her mid 20’s that she began to research and investigate the paranormal, because the house she lived in at the time was believed to be haunted.

DeBenedetti first met Jason Hawes at a paranormal event many years ago and has remained friends with him and other team members. She joined the team and was a paranormal Investigator on two seasons of “Ghost Hunters” and also appeared on the second season of “Ghost Nation” on Travel Channel. She has now joined the two in the reboot of “Ghost Hunters” in 2021 on discovery+.

Born in Schenectady, New York and now living in Boston, DeBenedetti still conducts private investigations with local teams. When she’s not on the road filming, she enjoys spending time at home with her two children and works part-time at an engineering firm.

Episode 1: “Dead Man Walking” – Premieres Thursday, April 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and Streaming on discovery+

In downtown Hanford, California, sits an imposing, abandoned county jail more than 125 years old. The Bastille, as it is known today, has captured the imagination of the residents who, for decades, have reported encountering apparitions and other strange activity in this building. In the years since this former Wild West jail was shuttered, many businesses have come and gone inside the old building, but they all share one commonality – claims of chilling paranormal phenomena. Now, many believe that the decades of suffering and tragic deaths that occurred inside the jail are behind the ongoing hauntings. Joining TAPS on this investigation is actor Chandler Riggs (“The Walking Dead”), as well as investigators Satori Hawes and Cody DesBiens.

Episode 2: “Trapped in Terror” – Premieres Thursday, April 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and Streaming on discovery+

TAPS is called to California’s Gold Country to investigate the Argonaut and Kennedy mines. On the heels of the 100th anniversary of the state’s largest mining tragedy, the team, joined by paranormal explorer Dakota Laden and the “Destination Fear” crew, faces frightening phenomena that remains on these properties from decades gone by.

Episode 3: “The Hoover Damned” – Premieres Thursday, April 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and Streaming on discovery+

The TAPS team dive into unchartered waters at the Hoover Dam as they gain exclusive access to investigate the iconic superstructure. Investigators Dustin Pari and Kris Williams join in as they seek out the lost souls and terrifying shadow figures that haunt this massive landmark.

Episode 4: “The Mansion of Misfortune” – Premieres Thursday, April 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and Streaming on discovery+

TAPS investigates an Alabama mansion that was once home to high society gatherings – as well as ample misery and misfortune. Guest investigators Satori Hawes and Cody DesBiens help dig up secrets from beyond the grave and bring peace to spirits seemingly in search of days long past.

Episode 5: “Unholy Matrimony” – Premieres Thursday, May 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and Streaming on discovery+

TAPS and guest investigator Dustin Pari investigate the home of an American Founding Father, and where a betrothed couple intends to have their wedding. A dark, aggressive energy has overtaken the house, leading to fears that the haunting will upend the impending nuptials.

Episode 6: “The Myth of St. Ignatius” – Premieres Thursday, May 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and Streaming on discovery+

TAPS and special guest Tory Belleci (“Mythbusters”) descend on the small town of Colfax, Washington, where chilling spirits haunt the hallways of the now abandoned St. Ignatius Hospital. The century-old building harbors the dark energy of illness, death and a tragic scandal, putting plans to turn it into a hotel at risk.

Episode 7: “Generations of Ghosts” – Premieres Thursday, May 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and Streaming on discovery+

TAPS answers a desperate call for help at historic Rose Mont, a former cattle and thoroughbred farm and plantation in Gallatin, Tennessee. Reports of hauntings at this grand mansion go back for decades, but a recent spike in harrowing paranormal phenomena has put the staff on edge.

SEASON FINALE: “Diocese of the Dead” – Premieres Thursday, May 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and Streaming on discovery+

TAPS is called to Ogdensburg, New York, to investigate a large family home. Once a church rectory, this imposing limestone manor is filled with terrifying entities that tie back to its religious beginnings. Alongside Jason’s son, Austin Hawes, and guest investigator Dustin Pari, TAPS hopes to calm the family’s fear of being in their house.

What better way to ring in 2022 than with the TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) and Ghost Hunters . The long-running series settles into its new home January 1 on discovery+ as original crew Jason Hawes , Steve Gonsalves , and Dave Tango join Shari DeBenedetti for a series of new spooky investigations. 

They’ll bring in familiar faces from the supernatural world for many of the 12 episodes to help them uncover the haunts and activity lurking in the shadows of these locales. Here, Gonsalves gives us some of the chilling details in the season to come. 

How would you explain your working dynamic now compared to when you first started together? How much has changed?

Steve Gonsalves: That’s a good question. TAPS has always been a large team. When you have a team that big, you need some structure. In the early days, you had Jason and Grant [Wilson] with me leading the tech side. That was awesome and worked for quite some time. Now we are all hands on deck where we put all of our heads together to get a resolution for our clients. It’s a different dynamic, but everything is exactly the same. Now we focus on the history and getting those facts straight. We always did historical research. We dive so thoroughly it really helps. We ended up finding in some of the investigations coming up that we’re fixing the history for some of the places. 

Is there a particular episode you’re looking forward to viewers checking out most?

There are a few cases I went in thinking we’re going to go in one direction, and quite honestly, they go in the exact opposite. That is quite exciting. In the world of the paranormal, you don’t know when or if something is going to happen. I remember at White Hill Mansion, initially there was really not much happening. Then at the end of the night, everything starts happening. It’s chaos around us. Some of it was actually quite frightening. That’s a place I’m happy we were able to go to. I believe we were the first team to go in with this thorough and professional level to do an investigation there. 

Rock legend Meat Loaf joins you on the House on Haunted Hill episode. How was having him on the scene again?

I was at a meet-and-greet not too long ago in Las Vegas, and someone said to me that they like how we invited all these guests to the show. They said, “It’s kind of like the old Scooby-Doo episodes in that you never know who is going to pop up on an episode.”  They were right. Meat Loaf is certainly one of our favorites. He has become family. He legitimately loves this stuff. Just having downtime with him and listening to his stories. He’ll tell you all these amazing things that have gone on in his life and everyone he met and worked with. He actually taught me how to play the pipe organ in that case, which was pretty awesome. And if you know him, you get to call him Meat, so that is a lot of fun. 

You also collaborate with other teams, including the Destination Fear gang and even the Ghost Brothers.  

The Destination Fear gang have become very close friends. We worked out of Old Joliet Prison. Bringing their vibe and energy combined with what we did was honestly a one-two punch. We drew out all kinds of stuff. The Ghost Brothers like to think outside the box, which is really cool. To see their eagerness and learn the deeper techniques. We had some amazing things happen. Some of the communications at the [Cresson Sanitorium] were pretty dark. There was a murder there where someone got bludgeoned with a sledgehammer. A lot of awful things. We’re pretty sure we cracked that code. That was one of those episodes we were able to get the history straight. 

Are we ever going to see the Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters crew work together?

I would love that. We’ve all met each other. I’ve hung out with Zak [Bagans] and those guys a few different times. They are really awesome. Whenever you bring two different techniques and protocols and investigation styles, you’re going to be able to really draw a lot out. For whatever reasons, people create this Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters or TAPS where it’s one or the other. We get together and have drinks. They are all really nice and super cool. I’m down to work with them. 

It’s never too early to think about a Halloween special. Any destination you’ve always wanted to explore?

We have tossed around a few different ideas. Maybe going back to Waverly Hills, the Disney World of the paranormal. Always things happening. We’ve been there quite enough though. Villisca Axe Murder House is a place that has always intrigued me. The macabre nature of it. We’ve been focusing on private residences and helping people. That has been quite rewarding at this phase of our investigations. In terms of Halloween, a private residence might be a little stale. 'Ghost Hunters' Sets Premiere Date for All-New Season on discovery+

The TAPS team is back, and they're investigating some of the most disturbing reports of paranormal activity in the return of Ghost Hunters to discovery+ on January 1. Original team members Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango, along with Shari DeBenedetti, are reuniting to revisit some of their most chilling cases and put their expertise to the test with frightening new ones. 

With their state-of-the-art technology, proven methodology and special guest investigators, TAPS is taking on reports of paranormal activity head-on in the 12 all-new one-hour episodes airing weekly, leaving no stone unturned as they search for the truth in the unknown. The Ghost Hunters reboot follows the team across the country to some of the country's most haunted locations, including the Old Joliet Prison in Joliet, Illinois; a haunted hotel with a dark past in Nebraska; a brewery in Pittsburgh; and a Virginia castle that might have visitors from outer space.

The TAPS team is also bringing on a host of new experts from different paranormal backgrounds to add their own points of view to each case, from rock legend Meat Loaf to Dakota Laden, Tanner Wiseman and Alex Schroeder of Destination Fear as they take on Old Joliet Prison in the premiere episode. 

"It's such a great feeling doing what we love together as a team and under the show name that created a genre," Hawes said in a statement. " Ghost Hunters is back with the names and faces you recognize, investigating some incredible locations with new equipment and in our style."

"This whole new season of Ghost Hunters has some of the creepiest locations, best evidence and familiar faces that the viewers will be excited to see," added Tango. "I'm excited for everyone to get that classic Ghost Hunters  nostalgia they've been missing, but in a whole, fresh new way." Gonsalves said in another statement, "We found ourselves in some truly frightening situations this season that helped us capture some of our best evidence to date."

cannot get enough

i cannot get enough of this show. i cannot get enough of it. i keep rewatching the seasons on dvd waiting for the next season to be released. the one thing they need to not do is play music during the investigations while their cameras are on. we cannot hear the EVPs or any other background noises. all we can hear most of the time is the background music. i want to hear everything they are hearing.

I have bought 5 DVD boxed sets of Ghost Hunters and Season 3 part 1 is by far my favorite. I really liked the episodes that were filmed in Ireland and England. These episodes were some of the best episodes ever of Ghost Hunters.

if you like this show you will love this dvd set. even if you dont beleave in ghosts this show is very entertaining. i cant wait 2 buy the next dvd and get the season 4 one 2. what ever you do watch this dvd!

The TAPS team has a down to earth approach to ghost hunting. They don't deem something as haunted until they have throroughly checked out every man-made possibility. I love watching Ghost Hunters!!

Ghost Hunters Season 14 Release Date, Cast, And More Information

Spooky season is about to get even spookier! With autumn in full swing, fans of PSLs, pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and harvest hayrides — aka those who love partaking in every fall and Halloween-themed activity — are thriving. For the more daring, fall also means haunted hayrides, scary movie marathons, and ghost hunting . 

Luckily, some of the most well-known paranormal activity seekers, the cast of "Ghost Hunters," is returning with a brand new season just in time for the ghoulish holiday. Jason Hawes, the leader of the ghost-hunting gang announced the return of the former A&E series via  Instagram on September 27, writing, "This is going to be great!" alongside a clip of the Season 14 trailer. The exciting news was also announced on the show's official  website . "The series that launched paranormal TV is finally back on the air!" the main page reads. "For over a decade the Ghost Hunters team stalked the creepiest and dankest haunts on the search for signs of the paranormal. Now they're back and better than ever on discovery+!" 

With an upcoming new season set to premiere on the streaming service owned by Discovery, Inc., Jason and the team are "committed to discovering the truth to give relief to those plagued by paranormal activity," as the "Ghost Hunters"  Twitter  biography reads. When will 'Ghost Hunters' Season 14 be released?

"Ghost Hunters" fans should make sure their Discovery+ account is in good standing, because "Ghost Hunters" Season 14 is dropping exclusively on the streaming service on Halloween. The teaser for the upcoming season was released on YouTube on September 27, and showed the spirit-chasing crew as they venture into some bone-chilling places to find paranormal activity. As the trailer states, "Over 15 years of investigating together has led to this moment," and by "[trusting their] skills, experience, and each other," they're bringing together epic experiences in Season 14. 

When Jason shared the trailer on his personal Instagram page, fans were thrilled to find out the long-running series was returning. "This makes me so happy!!!!! I tuned in on episode one of the original 'Ghost Hunters' by accident and haven't stopped watching since," one fan  wrote in the comments section of Jason's post. Another  echoed , "Looking forward to it!!! You guys and gals are AWESOME!!!!" while a third user  proclaimed , "Perfect for Halloween night!"

Who's in the cast for 'Ghost Hunters' Season 14?

Jason Hawes may be the leader of the beloved ghost-hunting gang, but he won't be the only star of "Ghost Hunters" Season 14. As the show's  official website states, the program is returning "with original team members Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves, Dave Tango, and Shari DeBenedetti." The four-person crew was also re-introduced in the Season 14 trailer as they appeared on a paranormal adventure. "The supernatural exists, just out of our reach," the narrator says as Jason, Steve, Dave, and Shari make their way through what appears to be a haunted prison. "It's movement in the corner of your eye. A sound down the hall in an empty room. A tap on the shoulder when nobody's there. We don't have the answers. All we can do is ask the questions," the narration continues. 

"Ghost Hunters" is returning to air for the first time in two years. The series first premiered in October 2004 and featured Jason and Grant Wilson — who co-founded The Atlantic Paranormal Society — and others, and aired until October 2016. The show was later revived on A&E in 2019 and ran for two seasons. A third season was still in question by October 2020, according to an Instagram post by Grant. Though Jason wasn't a part of the cast, Grant chased ghosts alongside his group of investigators, which included Daryl Marston, Kristen Luman, Brandon Alvis, Mustafa Gatollari, Brian Murray, and Richel Stratton, according to the network's website .

What happened to Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson working together on 'Ghost Hunters'?

When "Ghost Hunters" first premiered more than 17 years ago, the show starred Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, as well as their group of investigators. However, when A&E revived the program in 2019, Jason was seemingly missing from the cast as a new crew of ghost hunters were introduced by the network. Upon A&E reprising the program with some fresh faces, Jason created a new paranormal-focused show with Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango called "Ghost Nation" on the Travel Channel . Season 1 premiered in October 2019, per IMDb , and the cast grew in Season 2 when Shari DeBenedetti joined.

When it was revealed that Jason, Steve, Dave, and Shari were coming back for "Ghost Hunters," fans were confused by the choice of name. Replying to a fan on Instagram , Jason said he and Grant split up with their own crews in 2019. "He chose to do a show when the network didn't want the entire team. I chose the team first and refused to do a show without them. Loyalty first for me," he wrote.

When it comes to why Jason is now returning with "Ghost Hunters," the TV star explained in another comment reply that "It was our baby." He added, "We would not do it without each other. We 'Steve, Dave, Shari' and others all talked it over and felt it should be ours still."

CBS's Ghosts season 3: everything we know about the comedy

The ghosts of Woodstone Mansion are back for another season.

CBS apparently loves being haunted by the hilarious spirits on Ghosts , as the network is bringing back the comedy for another season. Ghosts season 3 is set to be a fixture of the CBS fall TV lineup alongside other comedies Young Sheldon , The Neighborhood and Bob Hearts Abishola on the network.

Ghosts , which is adapted from the BBC series of the same name, was one of the top four comedies on US TV during the 2022-2023 season, per CBS. Fans have certainly come to love the show’s cast of characters, including Sam, Jay, Isaac, Alberta, Pete, Trevor, Flower, Hetty, Thorfinn and Sasappis. Though with a cliffhanger ending to Ghosts season 2 , many may be wondering what lies in store for season 3?

We'll have to wait until the series premieres to know for sure what happens next, but here is what we do know about Ghosts season 3 right now.

Ghosts season 3 release date

At this time, we do not know when Ghosts season 3 is going to premiere on CBS.

Ghosts season 3 did not arrive in fall 2023 as fans would have initially hoped because of the writers and actors' strike in Hollywood for new labor deals. The writers' strike has officially come to an end, meaning scripts for the sitcom can start being written. The actors and still on strike, however, meaning production on the show cannot begin.

In the meantime, the UK's Ghosts , which was the inspiration for the CBS sitcom, is going to make its US debut in November on CBS.

Ghosts season 3 plot

An official plot for Ghosts season 3 is not available, but the ending of Ghosts season 2 is going to have a major impact on what happens next for the comedy.

In the final moments of season 2, Sam and Jay notice a light from the house that means that one of the ghosts has been "sucked off," or has moved on into the next life. However, it is not shown who it is (Jay hopes it's Trevor). 

Which ghost has moved on and what that'll mean for the rest of the characters is going to be a big thing for next season.

Ghosts season 3 cast

We don't know yet who got "sucked off," so it's hard to be sure who all in the Ghosts cast is definitely returning for season 3 until CBS sheds some light on that. Though we can be pretty confident that Sam McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar are returning as Sam and Jay, given as living people, they aren't moving on to the next life.

As for the ghosts, they are played by Brandon Scott Jones (Isaac), Richie Moriarty (Pete), Danielle Pinnock (Alberta), Asher Grodman (Trevor), Sheila Carrasco (Flower), Rebecca Wisocky (Hetty), Roman Zaragoza (Sasappis), Devan Chandler Long (Thorfinn) and John Hartman (Nigel). Of those actors, only Hartman is not a series regular, which may mean that he is the most likely candidate to exit the show.

In a new Hulu series, five fabulous ghost hunters are truly 'Living for the Dead'

Thanks to reality shows like the long-running “Ghost Hunters” series, which aired its 16th season this year, paranormal work has had a particularly heteronormative image for the last few decades. But the new, cheekily named Hulu series “Living for the Dead” — which is narrated and executive produced by Kristen Stewart — is serving up supernatural storytelling with a different kind of hair-raising look, courtesy of its five fabulous ghost-hunting stars. 

Emmy-winning “Queer Eye” producer Rob Eric, who serves as an executive producer on “Living for the Dead,” recalled initially being approached about the idea. 

“A call was made to us that said Kristen Stewart wanted to talk about a show idea, and she got on and said, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun if we could do something different, like gay ghost hunters?’ And we were like, ‘Gay ‘Scooby-Doo’?! We’re in,’” Eric said during a junket with the cast, ahead of the full season release Wednesday.

In the series, the queer ghost hunters take a road trip across the country, hitting the scenic highways of the American Southwest and weaving their way up to the Great Lakes region, to make overnight visits at eight allegedly haunted locations. Armed with an array of skills — including psychic sense, witchy ways and equipment expertise — the paranormal professionals give the spaces a kind of spiritual glow up by communing with the ghosts that haunt their dwellings and the living that inhabit them. 

Some of the locations, like a sprawling former sanatorium in Kentucky called Waverly Hills and the Lemp Mansion in St. Louis, are apparently well known in the paranormal community. But others, like a modern Arizona mansion with a cagey young owner and a Las Vegas strip club overseen by a protective matriarch, are more off the ghost-hunting grid. But they’re all, according to the show’s stars, verifiably infested with otherworldly beings.

“Honey, there were no duds! They made sure where they sent us was haunted as can be,” Logan Taylor, the show’s resident psychic, said. “I remember, by the very end of it, I would go to bed at night just completely used to hearing screaming — blood-curdling screaming as I’m trying to sleep.”

Alex LeMay, the group’s tech guru, agreed.

“They were very, very, very haunted and very active, and it never stopped, even when the cameras weren’t rolling,” LeMay said, citing eerie disturbances like things being thrown in the middle of the night. “I think it would turn any skeptic into a believer, just staying one night at some of the places we investigated.”

Like the rest of the group — which is rounded out by Juju Bae, a self-described witch, and Ken Boggle, a tarot card specialist — researcher Roz Hernandez has worked in the paranormal field for years. But she said that staying put in the locations overnight proved challenging between all the foot tickling and other invasive activity going on in the wee hours. 

“The ghosts did not clock out because the cameras weren’t rolling. They were there to play with our toes or do whatever they wanted to do, and I hated it,” she said in response to her castmates teasing her about trying to sneak away to hotels in the middle of the night.

She said she’s been watching ghost-hunting shows for years and has “given them a lot of side-eye,” but now she can better relate to how unnerving visiting a series of well-researched, spooky spaces can be.  

“I’ve been, like, ‘Come on, you mean to tell me, every place you go, there’s stuff happening?’ But it is sort of like a casting process. We have to make sure that these are places that truly are in need of an investigation, and they did not disappoint — any of them,” she said.

Though the group reportedly had a bevy of unsettling supernatural encounters during filming, their run-ins with the living residents of the haunted locations were much more to their liking. In several episodes, the “ghost hunties” — to borrow the series’ promo language — even take a break from engaging with spirits to have cocktails and a spooky kiki with the locals. During these rendezvous, the experts didn’t encounter much skepticism from their new friends, especially given that most of them had ghost stories of their own. But the out-of-towners were aware of not fitting the typical ghost-hunting mold.

“Listen, some of us prance into town with 6-inch heels on,” Hernandez said. “So you might be like, ‘What are these people going to achieve here?’ But we actually know what we’re doing, as much as you can when you’re talking about things that are unknown.” 

To find the right people to represent the LGBTQ contingent of ghost hunters — which is smaller than one might think, according to Hernandez — the show’s producers used a casting approach they developed for the original “Queer Eye,” which premiered in 2003. Essentially, after whittling down thousands of applications to a smaller collection of finalists, they brought the top contenders to Los Angeles to watch how they interacted with each other off-camera and to test out their skills.

“One of the most important things about casting is to not always be in the casting, but to rather step back a little bit from it and see who’s talking to each other when they’re not on camera — who’s vibing,” Eric said.

Once the in-person casting began, the producer added, he and the rest of the team could see their group of stars beginning to form, and then, during one-on-ones when the interviewees were asked to show off their ghost-hunting talents, their final five pulled away from the pack. While Bae was eliciting gasps from one part of the room, Boggle gave Eric a “terrifyingly accurate” tarot card reading. And in a more secluded space, Taylor channeled the deceased father of Eric’s co-producer, “Queer Eye” creator David Collins, recalling a private moment between father and son. 

“David came out of a room crying — couldn’t stop crying, and we’re like, ‘Yeah, this is the team. We did it,’” Eric said. “You can see it. They come together so beautifully in the show. It just feels like they’ve known each other forever, and, who knows, maybe in past lives, they did.”

Without the benefit of a live demonstration, some viewers may have a harder time believing in the experts’ skills — and buying into the series as a whole, which takes its supernatural encounters very seriously. Though, Eric and his co-producers attempt to bridge that gap by showing the cast performing the practical aspects of ghost hunting, much like the stars of “Queer Eye” tackle the various elements of a makeover.

“If we just had you assume that this is what Juju does to get rid of spirits, and we don’t tell you what that is, or what Ken does to contact spirits, you wouldn’t believe them. If you didn’t see JVN cutting hair, and we just showed you the final product, you’d be, like, ‘Well, wait a minute, who cut the hair?’” Eric said, referring to “Queer Eye” grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness.

Eric acknowledged that a reality series about “the woo woo,” as Bae and some of the cast amiably described paranormal work, may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But he also said that seeing people commune with ghosts isn’t entirely the point. Instead, like their “Queer Eye” counterparts, it’s witnessing the experts’ particular brand of empathy — not to mention their obvious fabulousness.

“The paranormal can be very divisive in terms of, ‘Oh, I don’t watch that, because it’s paranormal,’ or, ‘I watch it because it is paranormal.’ This show you should watch because the characters are so interesting,” Eric said.

Halo Infinite Season 5: How Forge's New AI Toolkit Works

Halo Infinite Season 5 is finally here and Forge is got a huge update. Since Forge launched in Halo Infinite in November 2022, there have been over two million user-generated creations added. Now with Season 5, Forge has a new AI Toolkit to help players make even more content and include PvPvE content. The Forge developer team sat down with me to demo the new update so here’s what I learned.

Spawning Campaign AI

The new AI Toolkit allows players to spawn specific AI from the campaign to fill out their custom game creation. Players can choose from 43 AI types and can have up to 32 AI and 24 players in one game mode. In order to spawn AI, you have to put down the AI Spawner where you’d like it to be.You can also drop an AI Phantom Spawner into your game that lets you drop a Chopper, Ghost, or Wraith with or without a driver, or pilot.

Here are the 43 AI Types you can have in your creation:

• Grunt (5 variants)
• Jackals (4 variants)
• Skimmers (3 variants)
• Elites (5 variants)
• Brutes (16 variants)
• Hunters (2 variants)
• Marines (6 variants)
• Bosses (2 variants)

When you spawn in the AI you want, you can go further and specify in each AI what weapon you want them to have equipped. You can also change the AI Difficulty from Easy, Normal, Heroic, and Legendary and also toggle a Player Count Difficulty Multiplier setting that allows you to scale difficulty based on how many players are in the lobby. The best part about both these new features is that these can be changed mid-match with a node graph script or be set as a global Custom Game option.

Control Your AI

Speaking of node graphing, to help you map out where AI move around and exist, there’s a new node graphing system to let you control all of that. You can lay out a path to tell AI units to stay within and travel back and forth from if you have a wider space selected.

AI node graph scripting can get as complicated and deep as you want it to be. You can set the trigger points for AI spawning (say walking through a doorway is the point that spawns five jackals armed with shotguns in that room). All you have to do is link the spawner to the trigger and the AI will be set.

Play PvP or PvE

The most interesting part of this update is that you can set the AI allegiance to however you want. There are eight different team allegiances you can select. So the new AI can work with you or against you. So PvPvE modes are totally feasible now with the new AI toolkit with the ability to customize teams with AI.

In case you need a little inspiration on how to utilize the new AI toolkit and the node graphing, Connor Kennelly, 343 Industries Technical Game Designer, showed us a fun example. Kennelly demonstrated how you could spawn Marines and have them follow him around or follow any object. He said, “I’m very excited for someone to hook this up to one of the ball objects so you could play catch with a marine. I don’t know how they bring it back, but maybe you could find a way with scripting.”

When I expressed my delight in the cute game of catch, Kennelly went on to say, “we definitely built this with wave based modes in mind, but we're really hoping at least I'm personally hoping to see some single player experiences in the customs browser where someone goes and makes a campaign-like space and uses a lot of the like trigger volumes we showed you or switches or just map events to kind of give you some allies, give you some enemies and make a fun little scenario.”

New Canvases and Objects

While AI is the biggest new addition to Forge this season, we also got new Barrage and Permafrost canvases to work with. Barrage is themed after remnants of a Banished bombardment with craters, abandoned earth and plant life. Permafrost is, well, what it sounds with snowy backdrops and iced over bodies of water. Along with new canvases, new Banished objects were added with over 100 new items for players to toy with.

There have also been a variety of quality of life updates brought into Season 5 like lighting, reflection, shadows, and control improvements. Players can also earn Battle Pass XP in Custom Games and is a great way to encourage people to try Forge game modes and be rewarded for it.
