Ghost Announces Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023

Citi and Artist Presales Begin Tuesday, February 14 th

Tickets on sale to general public friday, february 17th at 10am local on  ticketmaster.com, for approved artist images and hi-res tour art, please download  here ..

Ghost has revealed details of its upcoming RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 summer tour with special guest Amon Amarth. Produced by Live Nation and FPC Live, the 27-date tour kicks off on Wednesday, August 2nd in Concord, CA at Concord Pavilion, with stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Cincinnati, Austin and more before wrapping up with the band’s Monday, September 11th return to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Ghost continues to elevate and reaffirm its status as one of the world’s most esteemed and celebrated creative forces. Accumulating well over a billion streams, the GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock band continues to bring the  “euphoric spectacle”  (ROLLING STONE) of its live shows to ever-growing and increasingly impassioned crowds, headlining arena tours including sold out shows from The Forum in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in New York to London’s O2 Arena and Stockholm’s Avicii Arena. In March 2022, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reported in a Calendar cover story that Ghost had  “conquered metal and the charts”  when its fifth album  IMPERA  debuted at #1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the BILLBOARD 200 at #2 and bowing at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in the UK (#2), Netherlands (#2), Belgium (#2), Canada (#3), Australia (#3), France (#5), Ireland (#5), and more. Produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace — and featuring “Spillways”—hailed as a  “sweetly constructed rock tune”  by THE NEW YORK TIMES, the GRAMMY-nominated “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock #1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon” —  IMPERA  finds Ghost transported centuries forward from the Black Plague era of its previous album, 2018 Best Rock Album GRAMMY nominee  Prequelle —or as ROLLING STONE put it,  “Ghost predicted the pandemic, Now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.” The result is the most ambitious and lyrically incisive entry in the Ghost canon: Over the course of  IMPERA’ s 12-song cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs ply their hype (financial and spiritual alike), prophecies are foretold as the skies fill with celestial bodies divine and man-made… All in all, the most current and topical Ghost subject matter to date is set against a hypnotic and darkly colorful melodic backdrop making  IMPERA  a listen like no other — yet unmistakably, quintessentially Ghost.

TICKETS:  Tickets will be available starting with a Citi cardmember presale (details below) and Artist presale on Tuesday, February 14th. Additional presales will be available throughout the week before the general on sale starting Friday, February 17th at 10am local time on  Ticketmaster.com .

Ghost has announced details of its summer 2023 American tour, dubbed “Re-Imperatour USA.”

The band is set to kick off the new run of dates in Concord, CA, on August 2, touring across the country until September 11, when it will wrap things up with a huge show at LA’s Kia Forum. It will be joined on the dates by special guest Amon Amarth.

Tickets for the 27-date tour will be available through Citi cardmembers’ and artists’ pre-sales from tomorrow (February 14). Following that, tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday (17) at 10am local time. For more details and to purchase, visit Ticketmaster .

‘kick’: how inxs booted the competition aside.

The “Re-Imperatour USA” tour news follows Ghost holding its first-ever pop-up event at LA’s Whisky A Go Go venue earlier this month. “Metal Myths Presents: Ghost – Reverence & Resurrection” paid tribute to the classic 1969 era of Ghost, a band that didn’t actually form until almost four decades later.

The exhibit featured artifacts that had never been publicly displayed before, including the band’s 1960 costumes and ghoul masks, rare magazine covers, and more from a treasure trove of ephemera.

Meanwhile, Ghost also recently shared a new version of its track “Spillways,” featuring guest vocals from Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott. The new take on the song featured in Chapter 15 of Ghost’s long-running series of webisodes, with the installment in question documenting a karaoke session that goes awry in a spectacular and supernatural fashion.

Ghost Will Haunt U.S. Amphitheaters on a Summer Tour

Papa Emeritus IV is coming to an amphitheater near you. Ghost , the Swedish hard-rock band led by the man of a thousand faces, Tobias Forge, has announced a U.S. summer tour .

Titled the Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023, the trek begins August 2nd in Concord, California, and plays 27 dates, wrapping up September 11th in Los Angeles. Along the way, the tour hits cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, Tampa, Austin, and Phoenix. Fellow Swedish metalheads Amon Amarth open all dates except the L.A. closer.

Ghost released their latest album, Impera , last year, a record that rails against bloated nations, empty leaders, and the glorification of stupidity. “We now have mechanisms within our own Western empire who are actively trying to, and to some degree have, created this time machine where we’re regressing,” Forge told Rolling Stone . “We’re flattening the earth. We’re submitting to stupidity, which is fucking unbelievable.”

Earlier this month, Ghost staged a pop-up exhibit at the Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip in L.A. that featured memorabilia, from stage costumes to a “corpse,” from their supposed Sixties incarnation. They also released a new version of the Impera track “Spillways” featuring Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott.

About ghost tickets.

Driven by their love for horror films and Scandinavian metal, a group of talented individuals came together and created the iconic Swedish rock band Ghost. The group began in 2006 when Tobias Forge wrote the song ‘Stand By Him,’ which he claimed was the heaviest metal riff in existence. Due to the rich nature of the music, the group developed costumes that matched the energy of their sound. In 2010, Ghost released their debut album Opus Eponymous, which was well received by critics and successfully grew their fanbase. Ghost’s sophomore album Infestissumam was released in 2013 and debuted at No. 1 in Sweden and won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal album. Following their success, Ghost released their third album Meliora in 2015, which hit No. 1 in Sweden and No. 8 in the US. Known for their eccentric live performances, Ghost captivates their audience with their heavy sound and overall on-stage presence.

“Ghost is a rock band from Linkoping, Sweden. The group got its start in 2006 but did not put out any music until 2010 when they released a three-track demo as well as a 7-inch vinyl featuring the single Elizabeth. In October 2010, they released their first full-length studio album called “Opus Eponymous” which was nominated for a 2011 Grammis Award (Sweden’s answer to the Grammy) for Best Hard Rock Album.”

“It was their second album, “Infestissumam,” that won them a Grammis for Best Hard Rock/Metal album. Finally, Ghost got worldwide attention with their third album, “Meliora,” which reached No. 1 in Sweden and No. 8 in the United States.”

“Their single, “Cirice,” won them their first Grammy Award in 2016 for Best Metal Performance. Ghost is known for its unique, eccentric stage presence, which features seven of the band’s eight members, known as the Nameless Ghouls, wearing almost identical costumes along with face-concealing masks and makeup.”

“While Ghost’s costuming makes for a striking stage presence and thrills fans at the band’s live shows, the other purpose of the costumes is to conceal the musicians’ true identities. Any person might be any band member at any time, except for the lead singer, Tobias Forge, who has remained constant.” (Stubhub)

Chicago Ghost Tours To Get Your Fright Fix

Posted: October 13, 2023 | Last updated: October 13, 2023

LLINOIS — From the river towns and prairie to the city with big shoulders, Illinois is full of ghosts bumping into each other. If you’re looking for a spectral encounter this Halloween season, Patch has rounded up the best bus and walking tours in Chicagoland and beyond.

Each touring company offers its own unique interpretation of Illinois’ local haunts, including historical perspectives, storytelling and opportunities to do your own paranormal investigations. You may even find yourself part of a YouTube video or podcast.

October is brisk for boos, so you may want to reserve now because these tours fill up fest. Much like the news, ghosts aren't known to take a vacation, so don’t be bummed if some tours are currently sold out. Many of these touring operators actually run tours throughout the year.

Chicago Gangster and Ghost Tours

Chicago Gangster and Ghost Tours runs four walking tours daily through the old Chicago Loop Vice District at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The tour dives into the city’s haunted gangster hangouts and old crime scenes where it all went down 100 years ago. Notable stops include the Congress Hotel, where ol’ Scarface himself, Al Capone, ran his incognito bootleg business, Death Alley and Palmer House. Tours are led by historians, who share the infamous stories of the ghosts and gangsters of Chicago’s streets on the 1.5 walking tours. Tickets range in price from $35 adults; $25 for seniors (age 65+), youth (7-17) $17. Kids age 6 and under are free. Book online to reserve a spot or call 708-239-8542.

Graveside Paranormal

Guests ride on luxury coach buses, where Graveside Paranormal explorers Neal Gibbons and partner Steve Leinweber keep things entertaining and scary. You’ll roam the forest preserves visiting little-known haunted destinations and sing karaoke with the ghosts at Chet’s Melody Lounge.Tours have previously uncovered paranormal activity in exclusive locations unknown to other ghost tours throughout the southwest suburbs. Guests get hands-on paranormal investigation experience with the help of EVP recorders and other ghost hunting tools. This year Graveside Paranormal is mixing things up by introducing a lantern walk through the sacred grounds of St. James Cemetery, aka Monk’s Castle, in Lemont.

The October Friday and Saturday tours are waitlisted on EventBrite , but Thursdays tours are still available. The Archer Avenue Supernatural Tour departs from the Branding Iron, 7036 S Harlem Ave., Bridgeview. Tours are set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and Oct. 26. Arrive one hour early for check-in and enjoy food and drinks. Book tickets online.

Old Joliet Prison Tours

Take a tour of the Old Joliet Prison where some of Illinois’ most notorious criminals passed through its cells. The Joliet Area Historical Museum offers a variety of walking tours of the Old Jolly Tearoom, including self-guided and docent-led history tours. The prison was built with convict labor in the 1850s and opened in 1858. Before the Joliet Prison closed in 2002, Leopold and Loeb, Baby Face Nelson, Richard Speck and John Wayne Gacy passed through its cells. Tours offer a glimpse into the grim history of the state and the nation’s correctional practices. Also, you never know when Dickie Loeb might stumble out of the old prison shower.

Self-guided tours are mostly outside, but you can walk through the North Segregation Building. The 90-minute, docent-led historical tours take guests through the East and West cell blocks, North Segregation Building, cafeteria, chapel and the Honor Dorm. Tours led by former guards and photography tours are also offered. Tours range from $20 to $30, including discounted rates for museum members and children. Meet at the Old Joliet Prison main parking lot off Collins Street in front of the prison (1125 Collins St., Joliet, IL for your GPS). Ghost US Tour 2023 & Tickets

Ghost will continue to support their Grammy-nominated 2018 album, Prequelle, with a just-announced fall 2023 North American tour that promises to stage an arena-level production seen on select shows during the band’s 2018 run. The Swedish band will be joined by Nothing More for the six-week run.

Known for their elaborate stagecraft and costumes, Ghost’s fall tour will find the band performing a lengthy set against a backdrop that resembles a medieval cathedral, complete with stained-glass windows that depict the departed “Papa” incarnations played by lead singer Tobias Forge. Prior to their headlining tour, Ghost will spend the summer opening for Metallica on their 25-date “WorldWired” European stadium tour. Last June, Ghost honored Metallica with a cover of “Enter Sandman” when the metal legend’s received Sweden’s top musical honor, the Polar Music Prize.

Nothing More are known for a dynamic live show, as well, and will be out in support of their Grammy-nominated 2017 disc, The Stories We Tell Ourselves. While more dates are expected to be announced, this is likely the last time to catch Ghost before they hunker down to record their next album, which Forge has revealed will be released in 2020.

Chicago: Ghost Tours Information

#1 Rated Ghost Tour in Chicago

For over 200 years, Chicago has endured the Great Fire, Al Capone, Prohibition, Violent Riots, and Shipwrecks. These events led to Chicago’s mysterious hauntings, often experienced by locals – and even our guests. The third most populous city in the nation has become a hotbed for ghostly encounters.

Join us for a ghost tour with stories and visits to sites of old asylums, cults, and haunted bars next to dark alleys that harbor the spirits of gangsters and bootleggers. Whatever the weather, join Windy City Ghosts to walk in the footsteps of Chi Town’s Ghosts. We’ll give you a chill that cuts to the bone.

The Experiences You've Heard About

What makes chicago so haunted.

The second city of America has drawn almost as many characters as New York or Los Angeles. It’s the gateway to the Midwest and a hub of industry to rival any in the world.  The lakes, the railroads, and the rivers all drew those seeking their fortune and a new life. Many lives were ended here, some in spectacular fashion.

Our Chicago Ghost Tour centers on Lincoln Park and it’s many haunted places. For instance, you might easily pass by The Tonic Room, without guessing that it is the most haunted bar in the neighborhood, but just about every bar in Chicago lays claim to at least one ghost. This one has some very special ingredients for its phantasmagorical cocktail of the living and the dead.

Satanic rituals and sacrifices

Before it became an atmospheric live venue (with a great beer selection by the way), it was the alleged headquarters of the Order of the Golden Dawn, an Egyptian themed cult . The Golden Dawn participated in occult traditions dating back to antiquity — including astral projection, clairvoyance, exorcism, alchemy, and more.

One woman even claimed to have witnessed a ritual murder here in the 1930s, when she attended a secret meeting with her father. The Society’s members purportedly included Irish poet W. B. Yeats and artist and occultist Aleister Crowley.

After the secret society was forced out by worried neighbors, it became an occultist shop, owned by Frederic De’Arechaga. He called it El Sabarum, meaning ‘of many gods.’ After many years of suspicion and maltreatment by the neighborhood, he finally moved the shop. However, a dagger was left in a basement wall above a pentacle painted on the floor. When the shop became The Tonic Room bar an early owner tore the dagger from the wall, and shortly after that, ghostly havoc was unleashed. Spirits were seen regularly as if something had been unplugged. One bartender was rendered temporarily paralyzed and refused to say what he had seen. Returning the knife to the wall did diminish the sightings for a while.

A horrible day at the asylum

Another concentration of supernatural sightings is found at what is now ironically The Alphawood Foundation Building, a grant-giving charitable organization. Before this, it was the Hobbs Institute for the insane, much like the more well-known asylum Read-Dunning institute a few miles to the East, Hobbs Institute was a dumping ground for those that society did not want to see. This included the destitute, mentally ill, even unwanted wives, accused of insanity or adultery by uninterested husbands.

There are more than a few tales of early and brutal death at this place. Like Frozen Mary, an unwanted bride, sent here sane, but reduced to a shell of a human being by the ghastly standards of ‘treatment’ at this hell hole. She was treated with ice baths, one of which took her life after a scream that the whole neighborhood heard. Her ghost wanders the halls shivering and skeletal, seeking her sanity.

Chicago gangsters and speakeasy

A short walk away from the former asylum, the John Barley Corn Memorial pub has a much more pleasant but no less colorful history, including a stretch as a speakeasy that has been reproduced in fiction and film for decades. The bar was boarded up so the police could not see inside, and a Chinese Landry next door became a front. Booze was smuggled in under piles of dirty laundry in carts, and patrons entered through the laundry’s steam and smells.  The place became a favorite hangout of notorious bank robber John Dillinger , who haunts an alleyway nearby, and was said to buy rounds of illegal booze, using the money he stole from banks.

And then there was the moose head. The head of a very large moose hung on the wall when a man named Sam Sanchez bought the pub in 1984. Nobody knows who shot the moose, but it watched over the patrons faithfully for many years. Until one night, the head simply plummeted off the wall, crashing to the floor and startling everyone in the place — who then drank a round on the house to the memory of the moose.

Entertaining and full of history – and gore!

Our tour offers thrilling supernatural insight into the dark side of the city. We also cover a wide array of educational and historical details of the city that you will not learn anywhere else!

Chicago has a fascinating history , springing from the trade of fur traders, missionaries, and business people who saw its potential to control access to the Mississippi basin and the overland routes via rail to the whole Mid-West. Many of the waves of new Americans that came from Europe, Scandinavia, and further afield were drawn to this unionized town’s high wages.

The unions and the powerful ward system of politics meant Chicago was a power base for politicians of the day, and where power flows, blood surely follows. Corruption and murder were the lingua franca of the streets for decades, and all every deal gone wrong left a ghost behind.

Find out which gangsters , bootleggers, politicians, and jazz singers still haunt the windy shores of Lake Michigan today.

Knowledgeable Chicago tour guides

When you take a tour with Windy City Ghosts, you will be in the hands of professional and passionate guides, as well as being locals and incredibly knowledgeable about local culture and stories of hauntings they are courteous and adaptable.

If you bring the family you will still have children that will sleep tonight, but everyone will be remembering the stories for years to come! The tour is fully accessible and suitable for everyone. Bring a date and have stories to share for decades, if it works out!

Only the finest stories of hauntings and real history

All the stops on the Windy City ghost itinerary give you a deep look into Chicago’s dark past and shady characters. You’ll hear stories from the Second City that you won’t find in the history books, but that will bring different periods of the history of the City by The Lake to life, in a way that will stick in your memory like nothing from school. Hear tales of human suffering, bad luck, and tragedy with twists and turns that make them memorable beyond belief.

We research eyewitness accounts of the hauntings, like the ghost of a murdered jogger in Oz Park, who looks real but speaks with a distinctive tinny and faraway sound, eternally looking for a safe way out of the park to avoid her horrible fate.

Fun and frightening all in one

All the reviews talk of how fun the tour is. Windy City Ghosts is not like seeing a horror movie at the cinema (although with the extended tour it is a little shorter than the average movie); the fear creeps up on you and is suggested, not explicit.

Chicago at night is an atmospheric experience. The streets have a special light, and it does not take much to put you in a supernatural frame of mind. Whether you take the standard tour or extend dive deeper into the haunted history of Chicago with the extended tour, we know you will have fun, learn something, and have some truly terrifying tales to tell your family and friends when you get home, even if your home is already in Chicago.

Join us for a whirlwind fun and frightening wander through the terrible tales of the Windy City Ghosts.

Ghost tours nationwide have an axe to grind with Lizzie Borden House owner: 'Infuriating'

FALL RIVER — When Jeanine Plumer read the news that U.S. Ghost Adventures, the owners of the Lizzie Borden House, were claiming trademark infringement against neighboring café Miss Lizzie’s Coffee , she had to laugh at the irony.

U.S. Ghost Adventures, she said, “has done that to all of us.”

Plumer founded and owns Austin Ghost Tours , a company that has guided tourists through the spookier side of Austin, Texas, since 1996.

She is also in contact with many locally owned ghost tour operators who have grievances against U.S. Ghost Adventures and its owner, Lance Zaal. She and others allege that the company, which advertises ghost tours in 79 locations nationwide including Fall River, has moved into their cities, used similar names to existing businesses, infringed on trademarks, taken ideas from their businesses, and created confusion for customers by making it seem as if they’re connected — the same kind of accusations U.S. Ghost Adventures has made against Miss Lizzie’s Coffee .

“If that’s not the pot calling the kettle black, I don’t know what is," said Jarrod Riddle, a historian and owner of Spirit of Arizona Tours in Phoenix, who said he thinks U.S. Ghost Adventures guides may have copied stories from his tour. “There’s no doubt about it that this guy is not original, between where he opens up a tour, what he calls a tour … this guy is not original.”

Zaal did not respond to multiple attempts to contact him for this story via phone, text, and email.

Did Lizzie Borden use an alias? 5 facts you never knew about Fall River's infamous murders

Orlando: Causing customer confusion in the ghost tour business

Ting Rappa is the owner of American Ghost Adventures in Florida , a corporation she registered in 2010. Since then, the year-round business leads guests on tours of downtown Orlando and other communities in search of spirits — literally, in the case of her haunted pub crawls.

She said she met with Zaal in 2016 in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he lived and a business he founded, Innovation Works LLC, is headquartered.

“He proposed to me at that time the start of what he has now," Rappa said. “He said he was looking to do some big things throughout the nation, and I think that Orlando would be a fantastic market.”

Rappa said that Zaal wanted to join her in American Ghost Adventures. According to a July 8, 2016, email sent by Zaal to Rappa provided to The Herald News , Zaal said he “would like to become a partner with you.”

“I'm not very familiar with ghost hunts, and I don't want to mess with what you have going on there, but I do believe I can do some great things with you in Orlando,” he wrote at the time.

Rappa said she asked Zaal whether a partnership meant she would have a piece of his businesses — she said he told her no, that he just wanted to be a partner in her tour business.

“I said, 'That doesn’t work for me. I’m doing well on my own,'” she said.

A tour of the Lizzie Borden House: Here's why Fall River's infamous legend will never die

According to incorporation records, a few months after their meeting, Zaal got into the ghost tour business in Williamsburg, founding Colonial Ghosts LLC in October 2016.

“He liked the name American Ghost Adventures so much. The next thing I know, he names his company U.S. Ghost Adventures," Rappa said. U.S. Ghost Adventures was incorporated in 2020. "Not U.S. Ghost Tours, not U.S. something else, but mimicking mine almost 100 percent.”

U.S. Ghost Adventures currently offers tours of downtown Orlando and pub crawls . The two companies’ tours start about a half-mile apart.

“It causes confusion down here," Rappa said, adding that even Florida’s state department itself confused the two companies, sending her paperwork intended for USGA. “That’s how easily mistaken it is. It’s so close.”

'He mimics our name intentionally,' Austin Ghost Tours operator claims

Plumer’s company, Austin Ghost Tours, has filed paperwork with the state of Texas to do business as both "Austin Ghosts" and "Austin Ghost."

The first Google search result for Austin ghost tours is austinghosts.com — a website for U.S. Ghost Adventures. They also operate tours there under the name Austin Ghosts.

Plumer's company is at austinghosttours.com . This has caused considerable customer confusion, she said.

“They meet where we meet. Go to the same locations that we go to," Plumer said. “He mimics our name intentionally to confuse customers.”

Movies, TV, books and more: 11 ways pop culture took a whack at the legend of Fall River's Lizzie Borden

U.S. Ghost Adventures and Austin Ghost Tours meet two blocks apart. One of the stops on the U.S. Ghost Adventures tour is the spot where Austin Ghost Tours meets.

In many cities where USGA operates, but not all, USGA uses similar names to tours that existed before it moved in.  Providence Ghost Tours is locally owned since 2007; USGA owns Ghosts of Providence . Then there’s Ghosts of Newport , locally owned since 2002, versus Newport Ghosts , USGA-owned. The owners of both local companies said they knew of the rival company, but had little or no contact with it.

Across the country, a representative from Haunted San Diego Ghost Tours , who declined to be named for this story, said USGA’s San Diego Ghosts has made things difficult for the company and confusing for customers.

“We've had instances of their customers showing up at our meeting locations, mistaking us for them, and vice versa,” the representative said. “Their lack of clear communication has resulted in misplaced calls from their customers seeking directions because they have no phone number on their site and the customer did not know what else to do.”

Baltimore: 'He did to us exactly what he’s accusing these other people of doing'

In the dispute over the “Lizzie Borden” service mark, The Herald News received a press release on Sept. 7 claiming that both Zaal and Miss Lizzie’s Coffee owner Joseph Pereira “have cordially resolved the use of the of the Lizzie Borden name. The owner of Miss Lizzie’s coffee shop has agreed to change the name.”

When a Herald News reporter contacted Pereira that day to verify the information, Pereira said he hadn't heard of any such agreement, was unaware of this press release, and hadn't agreed to change his coffee shop’s name. Pereira also said that Zaal was in the room with him, having traveled to Fall River to meet with him.

When the reporter asked to speak with Zaal about the press release, Pereira said Zaal declined to come to the phone.

A spokesperson for Interdependence Public Relations verified that Zaal’s company sent the press release.

'The ghosts are not happy': 2 Fall River businesses clash over use of Lizzie Borden name

But while Zaal has sought both informal deals and legal recourse from Miss Lizzie’s Coffee, one business owner who says she has been harmed by USGA has also tried both with no luck.

Melissa Rowell has been in business since 2007 as Baltimore Ghost Tours, with the website baltimoreghosttours.com . When USGA moved in a few years ago, it took the name Baltimore Ghosts with the website tourbaltimoreghosts.com .

“Once we got wind that they were using our name, which is service-marked, we sent [Zaal] a letter through our lawyer that said, ‘Hey, can you please change that to something a bit different?’” Rowell said.

Rowell provided legal documents from June 2021 from her attorney to Zaal, asking USGA to stop using their service-marked name and use another.

“Our understanding is that in at least four other cities, you have recently started a business of providing historical haunted tours in that city, and have chosen for your name the same name of an already-established business in that city,” Rowell’s attorneys wrote. “It is clear that your business plan is to ride the coattails of an established business, confuse consumers into contacting you for a tour … and provide your own service.”

Zaal’s lawyers responded by asserting that the company’s service mark was “merely generic.” They declined to change the company’s name, and added: “My client strongly denies it is engaged in any predatory behavior.”

Rowell said she can't do much else. “The only reason we haven’t filed an infringement suit is that we can’t afford it right now,” Rowell said.

Both tours begin across the street from one another.

A Google search for Baltimore Ghost Tours also reveals that the Google Business listing — a tab on the right side of the search page including hours, website and reviews — has information from both companies merged. She said she has no control over this Google Business listing and suspects USGA does. She alleges that USGA has been replying to positive reviews from her customers and deleting her own replies.

Rowell — and many other tour operators contacted — said she has no problem with business competition. “That’s fine. Just don’t try to confuse people and deceive them, and make them think that your company is ours that’s been around for 20 years. That’s all.

"He did to us exactly what he’s accusing these other people of doing, which is using their trademark," Rowell said. “It’s very ironic, and it’s absolutely infuriating.”

Salem tour operator: 'Nobody owns the history'

In a business where the product is supernatural folklore, it can be difficult to tell where stories originated.

Jarrod Riddle, of Spirit of Phoenix, said he’s a historian whose tours are more based in true crime than the supernatural. He started his business in 2019, with USGA opening up in town a year or so later. He said he’s done deep dives into dark chapters of local history “that you would never find on a map."

“And all of a sudden, that’s two of [USGA’s] stops,” Riddle said.

Riddle said he has not taken a USGA tour to double-check if his stories are being used by the rival company. But he said he has seen tours at locations in downtown Phoenix that his tour uses, but which have no previously documented ghost hauntings or supernatural activity.

He said he gets along well with other tour operators, but is irritated by USGA.

“Maybe I’m taking it a little personally because I’m a historian, but I just don’t like someone coming into my city, trying to tell my city’s story, and they’re not even from here," he said.

Giovanni Alabiso of the Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour in Salem — the Witch City, where every autumn multiple ghost tours can be found sharing the same narrow streets — said the theft of intellectual property by rivals sometimes happens, and is difficult to prove.

“That’s kind of everybody, though — that's not unique to [USGA],” Alabiso said.

"The history is the history. Nobody owns the history,” he said. “But when they start telling personal stories that you’re telling … when other companies start doing that, we start taking a little notice.”

Alabiso said he and his guides have not had direct dealings with Zaal’s company, except to say several rival tour companies get along and have tried to start a tour association, but USGA “had no interest in joining.”

“They don’t want to be part of the community. They just want the almighty dollar.”

Alabiso added: “I’m very happy that somebody opened up [Miss] Lizzie’s [Coffee], giving him a taste of his own medicine.”

GHOST Releases 10th-Anniversary Edition Of 'Phallos Mortuus' Box Set

In the world of heavy metal, there are iconic bands, and then there's GHOST . The enigmatic Swedish metal act has been captivating audiences worldwide with their unique blend of theatricality, melody, and darkness for over a decade. One of their most notorious releases, the "Phallos Mortuus" ritual box set, originally unveiled in 2013, is making a triumphant return as a 10th-anniversary edition. This collector's gem, laden with mystique and a heavy dose of humor, is once again available for GHOST enthusiasts and metal aficionados to savor.

The "Phallos Mortuus" ritual box set is a testament to GHOST 's artistic daring and an unapologetic exploration of their controversial themes. The "X Anniversary Edition" preserves the essence of the original, housed in a bible box adorned with gold embossed artwork and lined with sumptuous red velvet. As a hallmark of authenticity, the package includes a customized GHOST foil emblem on a divorce paper scroll. The GHOST brushed metal logo pin is yet another intriguing addition, marking this box set as an indispensable addition to any true fan's collection. And just like the original version the most eyebrow-raising inclusions in the "Phallos Mortuus – X Anniversary Edition" is the bronze-effect metal butt plug with a molded "Grucifix" logo base. GHOST has always been notorious for pushing boundaries and exploring unconventional themes in their music and merchandise, and this element of the box set undoubtedly reinforces their commitment to the bizarre.

However, the pièce de résistance of the box set is a sculpted black dildo, shaped in the likeness of none other than Papa Emeritus II , the iconic and enigmatic vocalist of GHOST . For fans of the band, this provocative addition serves as a tangible connection to the theatricality and eccentricity that has come to define GHOST 's stage presence. It's a collector's item that goes beyond the typical band merchandise, making it a talking point and conversation starter for those who dare to display it.

The "Phallos Mortuus – X Anniversary Edition" is not just a box set; it's a conversation piece, a statement of loyalty, and an artifact of a band that has consistently challenged convention. Priced at $225, it's an investment in the lore and mystique of GHOST . For die-hard fans, it's a must-have addition to their collection, serving as a reminder of a decade of devotion to this enigmatic musical entity.

For those who missed out on the initial release in 2013 or are looking to upgrade their collection, the "Phallos Mortuus – X Anniversary Edition" is currently available in the official GHOST store . However, it's advisable to act quickly to secure a piece of metal history.
