"Snapchat unveiled a subscription plan and their Ghost Trails feature is a little…disturbing," one Twitter user wrote.

A second person said: "Snapchat ghost trails. WHY?? I can see no healthy reason for wanting to know exactly where someone has been in the last day."

"It's just making it easier for abusers to stalk and control their victim's movements, making it harder to get help," they added, before asking Snapchat to remove this feature "immediately".

"The new 'ghost trails' is so dangerous and stupid lol so many women are going to get hurt or killed [because] of this," a third Twitter user remarked.

How to turn off your location

If you want to make sure that no one can track your movements on Snapchat, you can enable 'Ghost Mode'.

This means that your Bitmoji will no longer be visible on the Snapchat Map and no one can see your location.

To do this, go to Snapchat Map and press the icon in the top right-hand corner to bring up the settings.

How To Enable Ghost Mode For Extra Privacy

However, there's a quick and easy way to ghost everyone for those who value their privacy (or at the very least, the right to control it). Ghost Mode is a full privacy mode that makes your presence on the Snap Map visible to you alone. No one else can see where you are, not even your Snapchat friends.

To enable this feature, swipe right twice from the camera screen to Snap Map. Next, tap the gear icon in the top right corner to open Settings. Lastly, turn Ghost Mode on. When you choose to enable Ghost Mode, you'll notice that a window pops up with various timer options, including three hours, 24 hours, or until turned off. The timer allows you to choose how long you want to stay off the grid, whether it's just to lay low for a few hours or vanish for the foreseeable future.

There are more relaxed privacy settings also available beneath Ghost Mode in the Snap Map settings window. You can choose to share your location with all of your Snapchat friends – this includes any additional friends added in the future, but not people who have added you as a friend that you haven't added back. Another option available is to share with friends, but with exceptions. In this mode, you can choose specific Snapchat friends to exclude from seeing your location. The last option is to choose specific friends. In this mode, only the friends you explicitly choose will be able to view your location. As a result, there are plenty of ways to ensure Snapchat only reveals the information you're comfortable sharing.

Hide Your Live Location On Snapchat

While Ghost Mode prevents friends on Snapchat from seeing your location on Snap Map, there's also a Live Location feature that shares your live location with select friends. Even if Ghost Mode is enabled, friends you've selected to share your live location with can still see you on Snap Map. Exploring Snapchat’s Live Location Sharing: How Does the Feature Work?

In contrast to Ghost Trails, the Live Location feature is available to all Snapchat users, regardless of whether they have a Snapchat Plus subscription or not.

The Live-Location-Sharing feature enables you to notify your loved ones about your location. Basically, it gives you the freedom to share your whereabouts with the people you trust the most.

Snapchatters can use the live location-sharing feature like a buddy system to monitor each other’s locations for safety. 

Snapchat’s current functionality allows viewing of a user’s recent location, with the stipulation that it only updates your approximate location when you open the app.

Once activated, this feature broadcasts continuous updates of the user’s position on a map that their selected contacts can view for a specified period of time.

You can stop sharing your current location with friends without alerting them. This ensures that only selected friends who are fellow app users and have your permission can track your movements.

To get started with Live Location Sharing, follow these steps:

• Open Snapchat and go to the ‘ Chat section .’
• Then, tap on a friend’s/ family member’s ‘ Bitmoji avatar ’ to navigate to their profile.

• After that, choose how long you want to share your Live Location with that friend or family member. You have options such as;
• ‘ Always ’ 
• ‘ 8 hours ’ or

However, while doing so, keep in mind that when you enable the Live Location option, your device will collect data even if Snapchat is not on. 

This measure is taken to ensure the accurate sharing of your exact location with the recipient.

Snapchat makes it easy to change your location and update your live location. Follow these steps to update your live location on Snapchat–

• Open the ‘ Snapchat app ’ on your device and ‘ log in ’ to your Snapchat account.

• Now, your Bitmoji or avatar should appear on the Snap Map based on your current location but to change your location, you can either:
• Change your ‘ Physical Location ’: Your Bitmoji will automatically update if you move to a new location.
• Tap the ‘ Update Live Location ’ button at the bottom of the screen: This will refresh and update your Snap Map location without you having to physically move it.
• When you update your location, also choose the ‘ duration ’ for how long you want to share your live location.
• Next, tap ‘ Continue ’ or ‘ Confirm ’ to finally update your live-location.
• Lastly, set ‘ who can see your location ’ or ‘ skip ’ if not prompted.

Once all this is done, you’ll be able to see your Bitmoji’s updated location on your friends’ Snap Maps.

The sharing of your location can be turned off by following the given steps:

• Go to the ‘ Profile of the friend ’ that you want to stop sharing your Live Location with.

That is all! While Ghost Trails on Snapchat was previously a well-loved feature that added a distinctive trail or shadow to a user’s movement within a Snap, it’s no longer available.

However, Snapchat has continued to develop, introduce changes, and provide updates to its features, like the Snapchat Group , over the years to engage its user base.

So, it replaces the Ghost Trials on Snapchat with a Live-Location-Sharing feature that enables users to share their real-time geolocation with selected friends.

The entire width of southern Fayette County (26 miles) is traversed by the river’s flood plain. The Wolf eventually meanders more than 80 miles making its confluence with the Mississippi River right in the heart of metropolitan Memphis.

A prime hunting ground for whitetail deer, raccoon, squirrel, rabbit and other small game, Moscow features a number of checking stations where hunters are welcomed. Hunters can also have their harvests processed for food and mounted for trophies.

Snapchat+: how to turn off ghost trails, subscribers can see where their friends have been in the past day.

Snap Inc.’s Snapchat+ premium subscription service gives subscribers access to a series of exclusive and experimental features in the Snapchat application. One of these features is called “Ghost Trails,” and it allows subscribers to see where their friends have traveled over the past 24 hours on Snap Map .

These Ghost Trails will only appear for friends who are sharing their location with the subscriber and are in a location where Snapchat+ is available. These users will also need to be using version 11.85 or later of the Snapchat mobile app.

While the Ghost Trails feature is activated by default for Snapchat+ subscribers, they can turn it off if they’d like. When a subscriber turns off the Ghost Trails feature, they will no longer be able to see their friends’ Ghost Trails on Snap Map. However, other Snapchat+ subscribers will still be able to view their Ghost Trail on Snap Map, so long as they meet the above requirements.
