Hasbro's Massive Star Wars Ghost Ship to Enter Production After Successful Fan Campaign

With more than 20,000 supporters..

Hasbro's massive Ghost Ship from Star Wars: Rebels is officially preparing for departure after a hugely successful fan campaign smashed all targets to allow the Vintage Collection vehicle to move into production.

First unveiled at Comic-Con , the iconic Star Wars Ghost ship measures over 28 inches by 34 inches and sits over 13 inches tall, making it Hasbro's largest collectible ship since Jabba's Sail Barge . As a result of its immense size and the costs involved in making it, the product required crowdfunding through Hasbro's HasLab platform .

The funding window to get The Ghost in flight ran from July 21 at 2:45pm PT to September 6 at 8:59pm PT. During that time, the campaign received support from more than 20,000 people despite only needing 8,000 backers to get the greenlight, meaning the project is now fully funded, and the vehicle will enter production.

An announcement appeared on the crowdfunding page shortly after the campaign hit its initial funding goal. The message read: "Thanks to YOU joining the crew, the Ghost is FULLY FUNDED and officially takes flight in Fall 2024! The HasLab team can't wait to bring this epic vehicle from our imaginations into your hands."

Fans also unlocked all three bonus tiers offered in the campaign, giving collectors additional pieces to expand the scene, including a figure of Ezra Bridger (11,000 backers), Kanan Jarrus (14,000 backers), and Zeb Orrelios (17,000 backers), which will come on exclusive Star Wars Rebels cardbacks alongside captain Hera Syndulla.

The Ghost includes several interactive features, including a removable Phantom II shuttle that plugs into the back of the ship as well as an opening front ramp, removable landing gear, a rotating cannon turret, crew and captain's quarters, and the capacity to fit at least 15 figures in the ship, including four in the cockpit.

The Ghost weaves stories together from across the Star Wars galaxy, from Star Wars: Rebels to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the Disney+ series Ahsoka. Hasbro's high-quality and extremely large version of the iconic ship (with all four figures) has a price tag of $499.99 and is estimated to start shipping in Fall 2024.

The ghost comes to life: a closer look at the newest haslab star wars project.

StarWars.com catches up with Hasbro designer Chris Reiff about bringing the iconic starship to toy collectors.

The Ghost was first introduced in the animated Star Wars Rebels as the ship and home base for the new heroes of the Spectre crew. Piloted by Hera Syndulla , the Ghost went on missions across the galaxy, helping to build a burgeoning Rebellion in the early days of its fight against the Empire. The Ghost quickly became a fan favorite and a character itself, much like the Millennium Falcon before it.

Since then, it’s been glimpsed briefly in live-action, both at the Yavin IV base during Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and at the Battle of Exegol in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker . But it has not appeared in its full glory in live-action until now, with the Ahsoka series on  Disney+ . And the Ghost is coming to life in another major way.

For years, fans have been clamoring to bring the Ghost into their toy collection, but the sheer enormous scope of the ship has always been a question mark. Not anymore. Available only through Hasbro Pulse’s HasLab program , it’s the largest vehicle that the toy maker has produced since its release of the Khetanna , with the Ghost measuring in at 28 by 34 inches, and space for at least 15 figures.

Here's an up close look at hasbro's haslab star wars ghost ship thanks to tested.

Last week at San Diego Comic-Con, Hasbro revealed its awesome new Star Wars HasLab project with the Ghost ship, which was introduced in Star Wars Rebels. We already shared some photos of the ship when it was first revealed, but thanks to Tested, we have a video for you to watch that shows off all the crazy awesome details!

We take the hull off of The Ghost--Hasbro's newest HasLab project recreating the fan-favorite ship from Star Wars Rebels and the upcoming Ahsoka show! Product designer manager Chris Reiff and Brand manager Jing Houle walk us through this massive 34" long ship that from end to end is decked out with interior details. Here's how the designers collaborated with Ahsoka's production team to get those details right, and the considerations they made for collectors to modify and personalize the model when it ships.

As just announced at Comic-Con, Hasbro is developing a high-quality and extremely large version of The Ghost as part of the Star Wars: The Vintage Collection line. The ship measures a whopping 28 inches by 34 inches and sits at over 13 inches tall, making it the biggest Vintage Collection vehicle since the Jabba's Sail Barge set.

Naturally, The Ghost includes a number of interactive features, including a removable Phantom II shuttle that plugs into the back of the ship. The Ghost features an opening front ramp, removable landing gear, a rotating cannon turret, crew and captain's quarters and a cockpit big enough to seat four figures. In total, the ship has enough room to seat as many as 15 Vintage Collection figures. The vehicle also comes with an exclusive Hera Syndulla figure featuring a Star Wars Rebels cardback.

There is one catch, however. Given the size and cost involved, The Ghost won't be sold as a normal retail release. Instead, like Jabba's Sail Barge, it's being crowdfunded through Hasbro's HasLab platform. The campaign will run from July 21 at 2:45pm PT to September 6 at 8:59pm PT, and it'll need at least 8000 backers to enter production.

Hasbro is including several stretch goals in the campaign that will allow collectors to assemble more of Hera's classic Spectre crew. Ezra Bridger will be unlocked at 11,000 backers, followed by Kanan Jarrus at 14,000 and Zeb Orrelios at 17,000. Like Hera, these figures will come on exclusive Star Wars Rebels cardbacks.

Now that the expansion of the "Star Wars" universe in "The Mandalorian" is reaching back into the history of the animated side of the galaxy, that's opened the floodgates for various characters previously only seen in the likes of "Clone Wars" to cross over into live-action. The same can be said for the more recent animated series "Star Wars Rebels," which will see almost all of the show's main characters appearing in the upcoming "Ahsoka" series on Disney+ ( watch the trailer here ). In honor of Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger, and Chopper joining Ahsoka Tano and Zeb Orrelios in the live-action "Star Wars" universe, Hasbro is bringing their trusty ship, the Ghost, to collectible shelves.

Hasbro's latest crowdfunded HasLab project in the Star Wars Vintage Collection toy line is the Ghost, scaled to the 3.75-inch action figures. Measuring 28 inches wide, 34.5 inches long, an 13 inches high, not only is the ship big enough to hold 15 "Star Wars" action figures, but it features a lot of detailed elements for maximum playability. "Star Wars Rebels" fans will cheer as they empty their wallets. Get more details below. 

'You're In Command Of The Ghost Now'

HasLab's Ghost ship comes not long after fans successfully funded "The Mandalorian" Razor Crest starship , and since Ahsoka debuted in live-action by way of the Disney+ series, it only makes sense to follow it up with the "Star Wars Rebels" vehicle. As HasLab notes, this is the biggest "Star Wars" ship playset since Jabba's Sail Barge , and fans have been demanding it:

The Ghost is not just any ship. It's been highly requested by you, the fans, not just for its intricate design but for everything it represents: the beginnings of the Rebel Alliance, the power of resilience and found family, and maintaining hope against all odds. Now, Ahsoka Tano is on a mission to protect a vulnerable galaxy in the aftermath of the fall of the Empire. To do so, she's enlisting help from some old allies – ones that once knew her as "Fulcrum." In order for the Ghost to become a reality, the project needs 8,000 backers willing to pledge $499.99 fo the price of the starship playset . The good news is that, at the time of this writing, the project already has over 7,500 backers. With 44 days left until the crowfunding window is over, this project looks like it's destined to be produced. 

'Take Care Of Her. I Want Her Back'

By default, here's what you get with the Ghost playset, which also includes the Phantom II (seen above, separated from the Ghost), the ship's shuttle that acts as its only smaller armed starfighter. 

• Opening front ramp
• Removable landing gear
• Multiple removable panels for interior access
• Nose turret with removable canopy
• 360-degree dorsal laser cannon turret

Meanwhile, the Phantom II can fit a single figure, has functional landing gear, and an exclusive removable mini bust of Chopper that can be popped in and out behind the cockpit exterior. 

The interior of the Ghost is incredible detailed, too. The ship itself can fit at least 15 figures within these play areas inside the ship:

• Main cockpit that seats four figures
• Nose turret for one figure
• Crew quarters with bunk beds for multiple figures
• Captain's quarters with a single bed
• Galley and lounge with seating, game table, and dining table

On top of all that, the ship comes with a Vintage Collection carded figure of General Hera Syndulla with artwork inspired by the mural from "Star Wars Rebels." If you want to complete the collection, fans will have to back the Ghost project in a major way. Here are the three stretch goals for HasLab's Ghost playset:

• Unlock #1 at 11,000 backers: Star Wars : The Vintage Collection exclusive carded 3.75-Inch Ezra Bridger figure with 5 accessories
• Unlock #2 at 14,000 backers: Star Wars : The Vintage Collection exclusive carded 3.75-Inch Kanan Jarrus figure with 5 accessories
• Unlock #3 at 17,000 backers: Star Wars : The Vintage Collection exclusive carded 3.75-Inch Zeb Orrelios figure with 2 accessories

Presumably, there will be other opportunities to complete the collection with figures for Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano, maybe even Chopper. But this is everything included with the Ghost playset. Hasbro's massive star wars ghost ship broke all its crowdfunding goals.

We’ve known for a while that Hasbro’s latest Star Wars crowdfunder—first launched at San Diego Comic-Con this summer— had successfully reached its initial goal to turn the iconic freighter of Rebels and Ahsoka’s Hera Syndulla, the Ghost, into a huge new toy. But now the campaign is over—and we know Hera will be bringing a few friends along the way.

Although it was touch and go in the final days as to whether or not fans would hit every stretch goal, Hasbro’s Ghost campaign ultimately concluded with 21,768 backers throwing down a hefty $500 each to obtain their very own Vintage Collection-scaled version of the starship and a figure of its pilot, Hera. That’s well beyond the 8,000 initially required for the campaign to move forward—a goal that not every previous Star Wars “Haslab” campaign has hit—but it’s also ultimately well beyond the 11K, 14K, and 17K thresholds Hasbro set as stretch goals to see the ship come with three more members of the Rebels crew as they appeared in the animated series’ fourth and final season: Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus , and Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios.

What Comes With The HasLab Ghost Playset

Although the carded 3.75-inch-scale figure of Hera came with the initial playset of The Ghost , the other figures were part of the HasLab campaign's unlockable tiers. Ezra was unlocked once 11,000 backers were reached, Kanan with 14,000, and then Zeb with 17,000. The ship also comes with the detachable Phantom II , complete with a mini-bust of Hera's droid companion Chopper who can be removed from the pod as well.

Just in time for its live-action role in Ahsoka, The Vintage Collection Ghost achieving so many supporters is very exciting. Featuring so many details from Star Wars Rebels such as the incredibly accurate interiors and cockpit, The Ghost will undoubtedly become a major centerpiece for many Star Wars collectors. Considering its large size, it might not even be a choice for some but to have displayed on their coffee tables.

Although it was touch and go in the final days as to whether or not fans would hit every stretch goal, Hasbro’s Ghost campaign ultimately concluded with 21,768 backers throwing down a hefty $500 each to obtain their very own Vintage Collection-scaled version of the starship and a figure of its pilot, Hera. That’s well beyond the 8,000 initially required for the campaign to move forward—a goal that not every previous Star Wars “ Haslab” campaign has hit—but it’s also ultimately well beyond the 11K, 14K, and 17K thresholds Hasbro set as stretch goals to see the ship come with three more members of the Rebels crew as they appeared in the animated series’ fourth and final season: Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus , and Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios.

Where’s Sabine and Chopper , you ask? Well, good news/bad news. The good news is that they’re both coming. The bad news is that it’s only of a sort: Hasbro recently revealed that new versions of Sabine and Chopper, including the same cardbacks inspired by Sabine’s mural from Rebels and Ahsoka to match the included figures with the Ghost , are not being added as a bonus for the campaign overwhelmingly hitting its targets. Instead, unlocking the prior three stretch goals will give backers the chance to purchase the currently unrevealed figures at a later date. Chopper is already in the set in one form—his head is grafted into the droid slot on the included Phantom II shuttle—but it’s not quite the same as having a proper figure of him, and the only other way to get a version of Sabine in the TVC 3.75" scale is the upcoming version of her based on how she appears in Ahsoka rather than Rebels.

You’d think with nearly 22,000 people throwing down $500 apiece, the to y company could bundle them in! But alas. HasLab Announces Star Wars: The Vintage Collection The Ghost as New Crowdfunded Project For 2023

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is finally here and that means Hasbro had plenty of exciting Star Wars reveals across their entire toy and collectible lines including a new HasLab project that’s inspired by Star Wars: Rebels  and the upcoming series Ahsoka .

UPDATE (7.25.2023):  After  launching their 2023 campaign  less than a week ago, the HasLab Star Wars: The Vintage Collection The Ghost  project has been fully backed!  8000 fans will be adding this impressive ship to their collections in fall 2024. While the base goal has been met, fans can continue to back the project which will unlock additional action figures of Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, and finally Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios.

What’s Happening:

• One of the reasons fans attend SDCC is for the new merchandise announcements and Hasbro  was sure to wow audiences with their upcoming line of toys and collectibles for the Black Series , Vintage Collection  and Retro Collection .
• However, the most exciting announcement was about the 2023 crowdfunded HasLab project .
• This year the design team is focusing on the Ghost  as it appears in Ahsoka and this version will be part of the Vintage Collection (3 ¾-inch scale) line. The base offering will come with a General Hera Syndulla figure.

• This HasLab project needs 8,000 backers to fund the base offering which is $499.99.

Description [ ]

The Ghost is a modified VCX-100 light freighter originally made by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. The ship has a turret underneath the cockpit section, with a dedicated gunner seat and a dorsal turret midships. The vessel has a crew section at the front half and a cargo hold in the rearward half. The ship has port and starboard docking rings, like a majority of Corellian light freighter designs. It has two cockpits, one controlled the entire ship, while the other, directly in front of it, controlled the nose-mounted turret. Behind the main cockpit is the crew's quarters, and near the engine arrays are the main cargo hold.

The Ghost was first unveiled on July 27 , 2013 at Celebration Europe II , as part of some concept art for the series. When it was unveiled, it received a lot of applause. In addition, several Rebel pins also contained hidden hints to locating schematics of the ship online, which was eventually discovered to be the StarWars.com Blog's article, "Seen a ghost?".

According to Paul Urquhart, the Ghost 's cockpit was inspired by the real-life Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress .

Plot summary [ ]

Above Fondor a battle raged between the New Republic and the Galactic Empire . The Republic's Shepherd Squadron entered the battle and targeted the Interdictor -class Star Destroyer , Spectral . The pilots called in and prepared for their attack.

Onboard the Spectral , an Imperial officer reported to Admiral Ektol Traz that Vice Admiral Rae Sloane had ordered all the starships to retreat to Jakku . But Traz refused to leave, only doing so when the battle was over. He then ordered for all of his TIE fighters to be deployed.

As the Imperial Starfighter Pilots raced through the ship, the KX-series security droid , K-8Z8 ordered the guards to help him guard the ship while the battle raged on.

Shepherd Squadron charged at the incoming TIE fighters as the battle ensued. Lieutenant Bak Rychuk followed Captain Yancee Drai but then she was killed by a TIE fighter. Rychuk then charger towards the Spectral knowing that the TIE fighters would not fire on their own ship. The Spectral prepared to jump to hyperspace as Rychuk's fellow pilots warned him to pull away. But then the Spectral blasted off into hyperspace, taking Rychuk with them.

Exclusive Carded Figure: The Pilot, General Hera Syndulla  

The captain and heart of the Ghost crew, General Hera Syndulla is a gifted pilot and leader.   

If this project funds, it will include an exclusive Star Wars Rebels™ carded 3.75-inch-scale figure with a meiloorun fruit, Kalikori totem, and blaster -- so Hera is at the ready to take off in her beloved craft at a moment’s notice. As always, she’ll be complete with the high-quality deco and design that TVC fans love, based on her appearance in Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels -- plus a cardback inspired by Sabine Wren’s Spectres mural from the series finale.   

Of course, we’d be remiss to build a Ghost without its signature shuttle …   

The Phantom II  

The ship’s shuttle that acts as fully-armed starfighter, the Phantom II became the replacement short-range shuttle craft for the Ghost (after the original Phantom was destroyed on Yarma) – and includes forward laser canons.

Calling back to the original 1970s and 1980s  Star Wars collectibles, this The Vintage Collection Ghost vehicle features Kenner branding and package design for a nostalgic display.   

In the final episode of Star Wars Rebels , Sabine Wren uses her graffiti artistry to commemorate the adventures of the Spectre cell in a poignant mural. Each tier unlock figure cardback highlights the character’s portrait from the larger mural, reflecting just how important the crew is to each other and to the success of the Rebellion.
