Disney’s new Haunted Mansion  movie will arrive on Disney+  on October 4th, just in time for Halloween.

An October release for Haunted Mansion on Disney Plus would be perfect timing for Disney it seems. Waiting three months from the movie's theatrical debut means that Haunted Mansion 's streaming release date could be right before or exactly on Halloween. Haunted Mansion follows a widow named Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) and her young son, Travis (Chase Dillion), who move from New York to the haunted Gracey Manor. They become trapped in the mansion, and with the help of a psychic and ghost tour operator, try to make sense of all the ghostly occurrences in the house. They learn a larger, evil plot is at work too. 

The movie also features LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Daniel Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost.

Disney's 'Haunted Mansion' is no 'Pirates of the Caribbean.' It's scary bad

Uninspired, unimaginative and boring. “Haunted Mansion," Disney’s latest movie inspired by one of the park's signature rides, lacked everything that made another such film, “Pirates of the Caribbean,” work. 

Where "Pirates" had originality, sharp writing and a fully-fledged world to play in, "Haunted Mansion" is dull and flat.

Directed by Justin Simien, the man behind “Dear White People,” and written by Katie Dippold, whose credits include “Parks and Recreation” and 2016 “Ghost Busters,” you’d expect a certain snap to the story. But perhaps Disney’s white-gloved, iron-grip on this film stifled any real imagination. Or maybe the idea of turning a haunted house ride into a movie was simply too tall an order.

Who is the main character in 'Haunted Mansion' 2023?

The action takes place at a rundown plantation property outside of New Orleans. It is appropriately spooky-looking with the requisite Spanish moss hanging from the trees, an unkempt garden and various age-stains on the outside of the house. 

Single mother Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) purchased the house with the intention of opening a bed and breakfast. Her 9-year-old son Travis (Chase Dillon) is something of a dandy, sporting impeccable two or three-piece outfits, with bowties or even boloties. His fashion sense would make more sense in a Mary Poppins movie. (And he wonders why he’s bullied at school.)  

What is 'Haunted Mansion' about?

The house is haunted (well, duh), and Gabbie and her son are made prisoners inside it. Her attempt to get help draws in a questionable priest by the name of Kent (Owen Wilson), an astrophysicist by the name of Ben (LaKeith Stanfield), Bruce (Danny DeVito), a kooky historian, and a medium named Harriet played by Tiffany Haddish. 

As for the spooks and spine-tingling, they’re very tame. This is a kids' movie after all, but there’s also very little to keep parents entertained. The plot unfolds in a very predictable manner. Nothing comes as a surprise. The jokes are mediocre and it just feels like Disney was trying to cash in yet again on a subpar story idea. 

Don’t get me wrong. Younger kids are sure to have fun. The mild scariness should suit the tastes of elementary children. And I will say, each of the actors committed fully to their characters, even when underutilized.

Jared Leto's and Jamie Lee Curtis' roles felt like afterthoughts

You’ll see Jared Leto’s name touted in trailers, but he’s barely worth mentioning. He plays the evil ghost, but his character is so CGI and the voice is so over-modulated and manipulated that it could be anyone playing the ghost.  

But what about Jamie Lee Curtis, you ask? She’s pretty much a side character who appears to help the gang in their fight against the ghost. But even this doesn't quite track. As a medium herself, she holds untold power, but despite that, she somehow was defeated over a century ago by the same evil ghost. How she’s now powerful enough to assist is never explained.

The scariest part of this film was the insensitive use of saging

Unsettlingly insensitive was the use of saging in the movie. For broad swaths of our culture, saging is seen as a new-age remedy to clear the air of bad…vibes, spirits, energy, take your pick. Celebrities, Influencers, liberal-leaning bookstores and more tout the benefits of burning little bundles of white sage. The issue with this is the clear cultural appropriation of Native American practices and ongoing issues with sage poaching.

Will 'Haunted Mansion' 2023 be on Disney Plus?

There was one sweet idea in the movie: “ghost winks.” In the movie, the concept refers to the phenomenon of a loved one who’s passed on sending a message through something that reminds the living of them. The cutest ghost wink was channeled by Tatertot the cat. 

If you have young kids and want to spend two hours out of the house in a cool, air-conditioned theater, then go see “Haunted Mansion.” But if you can hold out until it’s released on Disney+ all the better. It’s really not worth spending money on the ticket.

Disney’s “Haunted Mansion” Movie Details Announced

As part of Disney’s Halfway To Halloween Event, some new details have been revealed about the upcoming live-action film, “Haunted Mansion”, which is based on Disney’s classic theme park attraction.

The film is going to star a huge ensemble cast that includes LaKeith Stanfield “Knives Out,” Tiffany Haddish “Bad Trip,” Owen Wilson Marvel’s “Loki,” Danny DeVito “Jumanji: The Next Level,” Rosario Dawson “Zombieland: Double Tap” and Chase Dillon “The Underground Railroad.”

This new film is being directed by Justin Simien “Bad Hair,” “Dear White People” and produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich “Aladdin.” Nick Reynolds “Easter Sunday” and Tom Peitzman “The Lion King” are the executive producers.

In this mysterious adventure, a doctor (Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Dillon), looking to start a new life, move into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much more than they bargained for. Desperate for help, they contact a priest (Wilson), who, in turn, enlists the aid of a widowed scientist-turned failed-paranormal expert (Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Haddish) and a crotchety historian (DeVito).

“Haunted Mansion will be released in theatres on March 10th 2023 and will arrive on Disney+ at a later date.

Haunted Mansion Director Reflects On The Movie’s Summer Release Date As It Arrives On Streaming For Halloween

Haunted Mansion had a July 28th release date competing with the likes of Barbenheimer. Isn’t it strange that the studio’s return to gateway horror had a summer release compared to a fall release for Halloween? Well, Haunted Mansion director Justin Simien reflected on his movie’s theatrical summer release date as it arrives on Disney+ streaming for a spooky October.

To start off the spooky month of October, Haunted Mansion made its way to Disney+. Although, it doesn’t make sense why it wasn’t the film’s original release month plan for theaters. After all, it would have given families an excuse to visit theaters during Halloween and get into the holiday spirit. We’re not the only ones disappointed in Haunted Mansion ’s July 28th release. Director Justin Simien spoke to The Wrap about the challenges he had to face during the summer.

I think the release date was really tough – I saw Barbie coming from miles away. I was disappointed by some aspects of our release, but I was not really surprised. I don't know that our campaign necessarily embraced or acknowledged that we were essentially coming out in the shadow of what was clearly such a box office phenomenon.

It’s rare for a scary Disney movie to have a summer release, with the exception of 1993’s Hocus Pocus. Barbie and Oppenheimer were setting new box office records for the year at unexpected, multimillion rates. No one would have thought two completely different movies with the same release date would lead to a moviegoing phenomenon.

According to Variety , the then- upcoming Disney movie had a July release date to take advantage of the kids being off from school for summer vacation. But as families were doing what they could to escape the heat, they weren’t exactly in the mood to feel spooked. Plus, there was the SAG-AFTRA strike, which was authorized weeks before Haunted Mansion ’s release date. This meant that Haunted Mansion 's cast wasn’t allowed to promote the movie. It appears that everything was just bad timing.

Disney’s reboot debuted at $24.1 million, landing in third place with Barbenheimer right in front. It can be easy to ponder what the fate of Haunted Mansion would have been like if it stayed away from the summer month. Fortunately for Justin Simien, he’s just thinking about people seeing the movie now on streaming as they have a spooktacular Halloween mindset.

I certainly have heard the feeling from a lot of folks, and I can't say I disagree. This is a much better time to receive a movie like this. I think with the movie coming out now... I think everyone's head is in the right space. It's just Halloween. It's the season you want to kick back with your family.

The Dear White People director has said he’s very “proud” of Haunted Mansion 's success. The critics may have had a range of mixed emotions watching the movie, but audiences had an entertaining time. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a low rating of 37% from critics, but an 84% from audiences. What people were saying about the ride-inspired horror comedy was that there were a lot of laughs, spooks, and heart that made the movie all the more enjoyable. Others, of course, couldn’t help but see the Disney movie as a love letter to the beloved theme park ride. That's a real compliment, as that was Simien's "beef" with the 2003 version . With a spine-tingling mindset for October, those at home can curl up with their families to watch a fun movie for a Merry Halloween.

Justin Simien’s Haunted Mansion may have faced some side blocks having a summer release, but I’d like to believe this movie will have more of an audience now as with everyone getting into the Halloween spirit at home. Disney's New Haunted Mansion Movie Has A Release Date

How long will fans have to wait for the new Haunted Mansion movie?

If you ask me, Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion is the best ride in the park . Also if you ask me, while Disney’s first attempt at a Haunted Mansion movie is maybe a bit underrated , it’s not that great. Fans of the excellent attraction will get another chance to see it brought to the screen however, as a new Haunted Mansion movie is on the way, and now it has an official release date. Unfortunately, it’s almost a year away.

Today Disney Parks are celebrating Halfway to Halloween and as part of that, it was announced that the new Haunted Mansion film will be released on March 10, 2023. However, while we’ll have to wait a while before we actually get to see the new Haunted Mansion movie, which was directed by Dear White People ’s  Justin Simien and written by The Heat ’s Kate Dippold, we now know more about what movie we’re waiting for.

The plot synopsis explains that the movie will star Rosario Dawson as a doctor who will go with her nine-year-old son, played by Chase Dillon, to live in a “strangely affordable” New Orleans Mansion. Once there they will discover, one assumes, their new home is inhabited by 999 happy haunts. The family will then turn to four different individuals for help, a priest, played by Owen Wilson , a psychic, played by Tiffany Haddish , a scientist turned paranormal investigator, played by LaKeith Stanfield, and a crotchety historian, played by Danny DeVito. 

Disney’s first Haunted Mansion movie came out in 2003 and starred Eddie Murphy and while the movie isn’t without its high points, and plenty of references to the attraction, the film failed to impress at the box office. The lack of success hit especially hard considering the movie came out the same year as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl , which became a massive hit and has since spawned four sequels. 

Pirates, however, has largely been the exception to the rule as for a long time, it was the only film based on a Disney theme park attraction to be a real success. Last year Disney released Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt . Jungle Cruise 2 is now on the way , so Disney appears to have found success again in this area, one certainly hopes the new Haunted Mansion will be at least as good as the recent Muppets Haunted Mansion Disney+ special which was an excellent Muppets special while also including plenty of Haunted Mansion references for fans . 

Based on the description, and the fact that the movie takes place in New Orleans, it seems the movie will be taking its primary inspiration from the Disneyland version of the attraction. While the inside of the ride is nearly identical to the Magic Kingdom version at Walt Disney World, the exterior is significantly different as the Haunted Mansion in Florida is located at Liberty Square, and thus fits in with the colonial era American aesthetic. Several international parks have significantly different versions of the attraction. There’s plenty of material there for potential sequels if this Haunted Mansion is a hit.

Hitchhiking ghosts come out to sail the seas in EW's exclusive preview of the world's first Haunted Mansion-themed bar aboard the Disney Treasure.

The crypt doors have creaked open on Disney 's newest Haunted Mansion attraction: the world's first-ever bar inspired by the classic ride.

EW has an exclusive first look at the upcoming Haunted Mansion Parlor aboard the Disney Treasure cruise ship, which will become the company's first lounge experience based on the beloved attraction when it sets sail alongside the vacation vessel in December 2024.

Billed as the "next chapter" of Haunted Mansion lore , the bar tells the story of a captain who entered the ghostly realm following a tragic dinner with his fiancée, and pulls aesthetic theming directly from Walt Disney 's original 1969 Disneyland version of the ride, including purple wallpaper, a mantel clock, a distinct chair — which fans affectionately refer to as the Donald Duck chair — tucked into the corner, and, of course, hitchhiking ghosts behind the bar. While visitors experience the seafaring character's lair, they'll hear a custom musical arrangement by Shruti Kumar that draws inspiration from the ride's iconic theme.

Disney promises that the parlor will star "legendary characters from Haunted Mansion attractions at Disney Parks around the world, as well as new seafaring arrivals" that will come out to socialize (and expose their skeletons amid flashes of lightning) within the portrait gallery inside a first-class drawing room that recalls classic cruise liners of the golden age.

Of course, the Haunted Mansion Parlor will also feature themed cocktails. A new twist on a classic margarita features a swirl of flavored smoke peppering the liquid, the purple Ghoulish Delight mixes ube-flavored fudge, oat milk, and tapioca pearls in a drink topped off with a gummy eyeball, and the non-alcoholic Sympathetic Libations harmonizes blood orange and sour cherry flavors.

Finally, the Haunted Mansion Parlor boasts new, exclusive merchandise, from miniatures of the venue's distinctive music box and mantle clock to a mug engraved with spooky sea life and a small mirror that flashes images of hitchhiking ghosts.

Disney's Haunted Mansion Parlor comes amid a monumental year in the Haunted Mansion universe, including the release of director Justin Simien's big-budget movie adaptation of the classic attraction as well as Disneyland's announcement that it will expand the California version of the ride 's queue with new structures, theming, and a retail location set to open in 2024.

New 'Haunted Mansion' Movie in the Works from 'Ghostbusters' Writer Katie Dippold

The spooky live-action film hails from the producers of Disney's hit 'Aladdin' remake.

Disney is developing a new Haunted Mansion movie based on the popular Disney World ride, tapping Ghostbusters scribe Katie Dippold to write the script.

THR reports that Dan Lin will produce the live-action feature via his Rideback banner along with Jonathan Eirich , and they're no stranger to Disney, having just produced the studio's hit Aladdin remake, which grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

The Haunted Mansion debuted inside the park in 1969 and quickly became a popular attraction known for its Hatbox Ghost. Disney previously turned the ride into a 2003 movie starring Eddie Murphy that grossed $182 million worldwide, but it failed to meet the studio's expectations and isn't fondly remembered by Disney fans, as the film clocks in at just 14 percent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Guillermo del Toro spent years developing a Haunted Mansion movie that would've starred Ryan Gosling , but that incarnation of the project proved to be a little too scary and intense for younger audiences, prompting Disney to turn to Dippold to find the right tone. Though Ghostbusters was fairly disappointing overall, it offered the right combination of scares and humor, and that's likely what Disney has in mind for its Haunted Mansion reboot.

Dippold made a name for herself as a writer on Parks and Recreation before writing Paul Feig 's 2013 action comedy The Heat starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy . She reunited with Feig on Ghostbusters , and also wrote the mother-daughter comedy Snatched starring Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer .

The Haunted Mansion is hardly the first Disney ride to get the big screen treatment, as the studio made a fortune on its Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and it hopes to score another hit with next year's adventure movie Jungle Cruise starring  Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt . Haunted Mansion Is Now On Disney+, But I'm Annoyed Two Underrated Spooky Disney Films Are Still Missing

Disney’s new Haunted Mansion movie wasn’t a box office hit; in fact, it's actually a bigger flop than the Eddie Murphy version based on its theatrical release. However, the new Haunted Mansion is, without question, a better film than its 2003 predecessor, and that’s something that more people will become aware of now that the movie is available to stream on Disney+ .

As somebody who loved the new Haunted Mansion movie and all its references to the Haunted Mansion attraction I also enjoy, I certainly hope the movie finds the fans it deserves on Disney+. However, as somebody who apparently has something of a habit of loving spooky movies from Disney , the fact that there are now two Haunted Mansion movies streaming on the service makes it that much more annoying that there are two excellent and underappreciated Disney “horror” movies that you still can’t watch on the Mouse House's streaming service.

Something Wicked This Way Comes Is The Perfect Gateway To Horror

In 1983, Disney adapted Something Wicked This Way Comes, a novel by Ray Bradbury. In the early ‘80s, Disney was in a difficult period as a studio. The company’s most recent animated features had failed to find much of an audience, and nothing the company did in live-action had ever really worked. An attempt was made to go against the traditional image and try to make movies with more mature themes, and Bradbury’s novel seemed like a perfect fit.

The story focuses on two young boys who realize something is amiss when a carnival comes to town that's led by the not-subtly named Mr. Dark, played by a younger and relatively unknown Jonathan Pryce. The film is by no means a horror movie; there’s more frightful imagery on the screen than most Disney films, but it’s still tame by even contemporary horror standards.

The movie was also plagued by production issues, which resulted in director Jack Clayton, who had been suggested as director by Bradbury himself, being taken off the project. There’s a version of the film the world will probably never see, and yet the version we have isn’t without its own charms. The feeling that a great horror movie gives you permeates the film, as it feels dark and disturbing from the start. At least, that’s what I remember, as it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to watch it. 

I remember just how the movie unnerved me. There was nothing overtly terrifying on the screen, but there was a feeling of menace that I found hard to shake even after it was over. My own kids are a bit too young for scary movies, but when they get old enough for them, this is where I'd like to start.

The Watcher In The Woods Is Disney At Its Weirdest

Three years before Something Wicked This Way Comes , Disney produced a film called The Watcher in the Woods , which is possibly creepier, absolutely stranger and, without a doubt, more fraught with issues. The film is even more of a cult classic, as the general critical consensus is that it isn’t very good, but where else are you going to find a Disney movie where Bette Davis plays the village crazy lady?

The Watcher in the Woods focuses on two young girls whose parents move them to England, where something strange seems to be happening. Years before, a young girl disappeared in the local woods, and the girls see an apparition of a blindfolded girl in the same woods. Davis plays the missing girl’s mother in what would be one of her final roles.

The Watcher in the Woods was so critically panned upon its initial limited release that the movie was pulled from theaters in New York and the ending was reshot. Still, it’s not like it would be the only movie available to view on Disney+ that wasn’t a massive hit, and there are those who have fond memories of the film regardless of its alleged quality. For many, it was the first scary movie they had ever seen. 

Why Are We Still Missing These, And Other Films, On Disney+? 

Not seeing these 40-year-old films on Disney+ is, unfortunately, not all that surprising. While Disney+ does better than some streaming services when it comes to listing older material (there are almost 100 years of cartoons to be found, after all), there is still a lot of content that has never been added to Disney+ , and the older it is, the more likely it is to be MIA.

There are some reasons why this might be the case. Much of this older material may only exist in a format that is not easily upload-able to Disney+. A lot of the stuff you can’t find on Disney+ has never been seen on DVD, much less Blu-ray, and so it certainly takes time to convert media to digital formats. With that comes upscaling it or otherwise updating it to make decades-old TV or movies still look as good as possible on modern televisions.

That’s not the case when it comes to these films, however. Something Wicked This Way Comes and Watcher in the Woods were both released on DVD and even on Blu-ray (though there’s some question regarding how much was done to actually upscale the movie for the HD format). But even so, there’s plenty of older movies and shows on Disney+ right now that hasn’t been upconverted to look as beautiful as possible. 

Now would be the perfect time to see movies like Something Wicked This Way Comes and Watcher in the Woods added to Disney+. It is the spooky season, after all, and the platform has a lot of great content for Halloween that will still give you the atmosphere you’re looking for without being truly terrifying.

The new Haunted Mansion is a fantastic addition to DIsney+ , and its October release is all but certain to get the movie more viewers than it got during its summer theatrical release. It’s the perfect blend of humor and horror, just like the Disneyland ride that inspired it. But there are some Disney movies that would be even better to watch on Halloween , and I hope that someday soon we actually get to see them.

First-Ever Haunted Mansion Bar Coming to the Disney Treasure in 2024

I have some eerie news for you just in time for Halloween ! Happy haunts will soon materialize on the high seas at the Haunted Mansion Parlor, the world’s first Haunted Mansion-inspired bar on Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure !

From inspired craft cocktails and an exclusive onboard merchandise collection to nostalgic décor and beloved characters, the Haunted Mansion Parlor will immerse guests in the next chapter of the Haunted Mansion saga, bringing this fan-favorite lore to life in a whole new way. The one-of-a-kind experience will be a swinging wake unlike any other, that of a jovial captain who entered the ghostly realm after a disastrous dinner with his beloved fiancé.

Thematic Décor

The design of the Haunted Mansion Parlor will resemble a first-class drawing room of a classic cruise liner from the golden age, invoking inspiration from the original Haunted Mansion with a nautical twist. Complete with nostalgic tributes to Haunted Mansion attractions around the world, fans will recognize the iconic wallpaper and the distinctive purple armchair tucked in the corner.

You will also encounter a few legendary characters from the original Disney Parks attraction, as well as some new seafaring arrivals, in a portrait gallery depicting the Disney Treasure’s own ghostly residents.

All-New Disney Cruise Line Haunted Mansion-Inspired Merchandise

Onboard the Disney Treasure, an exclusive new merchandise collection that will offer an array of haunted homewares and sinister souvenirs!

• The Haunted Mansion Parlor Music Box will be a keepsake inspired by an eerie music box that will be found inside the Haunted Mansion Parlor. As the rumors go, this mysterious box belonged to the captain’s bride-to-be and only opens in the presence of malevolent spirits.
• Inspired by the old grandfather clock from the original Disney Parks attraction, the Haunted Mansion Parlor clock will evoke the nostalgic allure of the Haunted Mansion.
• And, a ghost may even follow you home on your voyage… The Haunted Mansion Parlor Mirror will offer a frightening surprise when the hitchhiking ghosts mysteriously appear in the frame.

Deliciously Chilling Drinks

Get ready to indulge in a tempting selection of ghostly cocktails that capture the true spirit of The Haunted Mansion! And the team has put together a frighteningly fun set of recipes for you to make these chilling concoctions from the comfort of your home.

Sympathetic Libations

Want the perfect zero-proof cocktail? Look no further than the Sympathetic Libations, which will invite you to sip on sour cherry and blood orange flavors in a specialty tiki mug.

Ghoulish Delight

If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love the Ghoulish Delight , which will combine decadent ube fudge, oat milk and tapioca pearls into a glittery purple concoction, garnished with a gummy eyeball. 

Signature Beverage

A ghostly twist on a classic margarita, presented to guests amidst a swirl of flavored smoke, will be another signature drink at the Haunted Mansion Parlor. Topped with a lemon salt foam, this tequila-based cocktail will contain a secret message, only to be revealed by black light. 

The Haunted Mansion Parlor is one of several Disney Parks-inspired venues that will debut onboard the Disney Treasure. The exciting lineup will also include Skipper Society, a lounge inspired by the Jungle Cruise parks attraction, and Periscope Pub, which is inspired by the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea legacy parks attraction.

Haunted Mansion bar is coming to Disney’s new cruise ship

Disney Cruise Line is delving once again into the nostalgia vault with a bar inspired by the Haunted Mansion theme park attraction coming on board new cruise ship Disney Treasure when it debuts from Port Canaveral in 2024.

Haunted Mansion Parlor is a new concept that will serve up macabre drink concoctions in an expansion of the stories told at Disneyland, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and other Disney parks around the world.

It joins previously announced venues on the new ship inspired by the Jungle Cruise and 20,000 League Under the Sea, further carving out an identity closely tied to Disney’s original theme park attractions.

The next chapter involves “a jovial captain who entered the ghostly realm after a disastrous dinner with his beloved fiancé,” according to a Disney Cruise Line press release.

Those who venture into the darkly lit venue will encounter glowing apparitions appearing within the massive mirror behind the bar while music inspired by the theme park ride’s score will set the mood.

Promised to appear are “an ever-escalating anthology of illusions that immerses guests into the mysterious lore of the Haunted Mansion,” mixing old favorites from the ride with new characters that “will come out to socialize in mysterious ways throughout the experience.”

Its styling will be tied to the Disneyland version that opened in 1969 “reminiscent of a first-class drawing room from the classic cruise liners of the golden age, invoking inspiration from the original Haunted Mansion with a nautical twist.”

Throughout the bar will be tributes to the theme park attractions amid purple wallpaper with wooden finishes. That includes a portrait gallery and mantel clock that strikes 13 that will be sitting over a fireplace near a purple armchair.

Among the libations will be themed alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktails including the Sympathetic Libations, a drink that mixes blood orange and sour cherry served in a specialty mug. The Ghoulish Delight will have ube fudge, oat milk, tapioca pearls mixed in a purple liquid garnished with a gummy eyeball. Another drink will be a margarita with swirling smoke that has a secret message that can be read under a black light.

Along with the experience, the cruise line will offer exclusive merchandise tied to the venue including a music box, the mantel clock and parlor mirror with its own hitchhiking ghosts.

Disney Cruise Line queues up old and new features for new ship Disney Treasure

Disney Treasure is the sister ship to Disney Wish that debuted out of Port Canaveral in 2022, the second of three in what was originally called the Trident class of ship, slightly larger than the older Disney Dream and Fantasy coming in at 144,000 gross tons, but sticking with the 4,000-passenger capacity also on Dream and Fantasy.

It’s currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany and will begin sailing alternating seven-night, eastern and western Caribbean itineraries out of Port Canaveral with its maiden voyage Dec. 21, 2024. A third unnamed ship in the class is due in 2025.

Previous highlights unique to Disney Treasure that have been revealed include a new stage show based on “Moana,” a dinner theater experience based on the Disney Pixar movie “Coco,” a new dessert venue themed to “Zootopia,” and a high-end suite inspired by Epcot.

Like Disney Wish, it will have a version of the combination dark ride and water coaster AquaMouse, the children’s play area Oceaneer Club with venues tied to Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Imagineers, Disney Princesses and Mickey and Minnie; and new iterations of both the Worlds of Marvel and 1923 restaurants.

The Haunted Mansion Parlor takes the place of the Star Wars-themed bar found on Disney Wish.
