Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Review
Sniper ghost warrior 3.
Review: Scoped out

- Great sniping
- Patience is a virtue
- Can be boring
- Not a lot to do
- Open world is okay at best
- Constant technical issues
Available on PS4 (version tested), Xbox One and PC
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3’s decision to go open world is a very smart one on paper. The series is so dedicated and serious to the art of long-distance shooting that allowing the environment to enhance that makes a lot of sense. After all, if you’re able to prepare and setup the shot before pulling the trigger, there’s an argument to be made that a successful hit is going to be all the more satisfying.
Buy Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 from Amazon UK | Amazon.com
This is true to a certain extent as well. CI Games has once again show an unrelenting passion for sniping, and Sniper Elite 4 aside, it’s hard to think of another title that wants to emulate the idea as authentically as this one. From wind speed to how heavily you’re breathing, every tiny detail has been considered to separate this from the usual ‘get man’s head in the circle and fire’ method. That’s not what this is about.

Rewarding the more patient gamer – as the genre should given that’s the whole point of being a sniper – the developer is keen for its fan base to take on a larger role as a marksman as opposed to just be pointed in the right direction. Such ambition is worthy.

That’s not to say there isn’t variety here to some degree. Taking its own name and making it part of the game itself, CI has three specific level trees for you to invest in, Sniper, Ghost and Warrior. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the rewards of each, and it’s also a very clear statement that you can play three different ways. Whether you’d want to is a different matter entirely.
Whereas sniping is very good, the Call of Duty, run and gun approach does not benefit what’s here at all, and if you’re thinking of trying option three and sticking to the shadows, you may as well just hang back, taking enemies out with your rifle. If you find yourself at a loss it’s nice that you can to attempt to shoot your way out of trouble, but this is not where the game shines. If anything it’s just a distraction until you get back to what you actually should be doing.
With all that in mind, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 isn’t too removed from its predecessors. That was their main appeal as well, but there are wider reaching problems here in the form of tech issues.

This wouldn’t be so bad if there weren’t other problems, like the poor frame rate. Freaking out when you least expect it, it just raises an eyebrow as to whether CI Games struggled as they adjusted to an open world format, or if these kinks will be ironed out with a patch. To its credit it looks nice enough, but that can’t stop it from being a bit rough around the edges.
Overall, this is likely going to appeal to the same group it always does. There’s a story in place – and all involved would like you to care about what’s happening – but it’s not that engaging and, ultimately, exists to connect the dots as opposed to swallowing you up emotionally.
This is the point, though. At its core, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 just wants to be the most realistic sniping game there is, and while there may be some bells and whistles surrounding that goal, none of these are enough to mask the fact this is the case.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 offers some of the most satisfying sniping you can imagine, but everything outside of that just feels too drab and lacklustre to truly make it standout.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
April 25, 2017 by PowerPyx 32 Comments
Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Trophy Roadmap
- Estimated trophy difficulty: 3/10
- Approximate amount of time to platinum: 20-30 hours

- Number of missable trophies: 0 (it puts you back in free roam after beating the story. Even though it says “in one playthrough” in the trophy descriptions you can do it all in free roam after the story)
- Glitched trophies: 1 – “Marshall” for killing all 16 Most Wanted Targets with patch 1.00 – 1.03. Version 1.00 is missing a Most Wanted Target called “Dr. Darya Kuznetsov”. She was added in patch 1.03 but in doing so they accidentally removed another target called “Stepan Chbaarta”. Up to 1.03 all versions of the game are missing a different target. There is a workaround available! You must get 15/16 Most Wanted Targets with patch 1.00 and then update to 1.03. When you combine the unpatched 1.00 version with patched version you can get all Most Wanted Targets and earn the trophy. This only works with the physical retail disc! If you have the digital version from PSN Store it will automatically download the patch with the game, so there’s absolutely no way for you to earn the trophy until it gets a proper fix. Before starting the game make sure you’re disconnected from the internet so it doesn’t install the patch by accident (PS4 Settings > Network > Connect to the Internet > Uncheck).
- Does difficulty affect trophies?: No, can do everything on easy.
- Minimum Playthroughs: 1
Introduction
Welcome to the Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Trophy Guide! First of all, let me clear up some confusion. Many of the trophy description say they have to be done “in one playthrough”. This is poorly worded – after beating the final story mission you will return to the open world and can keep doing any and all trophies. There is nothing missable! All the enemies respawn when fast traveling to a different map, so you can farm unlimited kills. What they mean by “one playthrough” is that your stats reset when starting a completely new game (as they do in most games).
SGW3 is very different from the previous two games. It’s now an open world game similar to Far Cry. There are 3 regions: Mining Town, Village, Dam. You can fast travel between these regions at any time (after they’ve been unlocked through story progression). Collectibles and Most Wanted Targets also get marked on the world map automatically when you go near them. In addition to all this, combat trophies can be farmed via checkpoint restart in missions (e.g. stealth kills, kills from below, kills from above). Farming combat trophies via checkpoint restart is the fastest way. The game is very player-friendly in that regard.
Step 1: Beat the Story + Farm Combat Trophies
The first step is to play through the game as you see fit. As mentioned in the introduction, nothing is missable. After beating the final story mission you return to the open world and can still complete all trophies. You can do the trophies in any order you like. If you want to do side missions and collectibles along the way that’s perfectly fine. You can also keep them for after the story and mop up everything in free roam later.
The only thing to keep in mind is farming combat trophies via checkpoint restart. In free roam they can be very time consuming to farm. If you see a good checkpoint, go ahead and farm enough kills to make the trophy pop. This includes the following combat trophies: 20 sniper kills, 30 luring bullet distractions, 30 enemies tagged with tagging bullets, 25 stealth kills, 15 interrogations, tag 10 enemies with CCTV (cameras), 20 kills from above, 5 kills from below.
Pay attention to the 20 kills from above and 5 kills from below. The kills from below require you to hang on a ledge and melee an enemy from below. Kills from above require you to jump onto an enemy and do a melee attack in the air. The quickest farming spot is at the very beginning of Act 2. Immediately after Act 1 ends (wedding) it will transition to Act 2. Here you are in a cave with 2 enemies and can farm those kills via checkpoint restart.
Keep in mind that you can make all enemies respawn by fast traveling to a different map. If you cleared an enemy outpost it’s no problem at all. Just fast travel away and come back, everyone will respawn.
You can also follow this YouTube Playlist along the way: Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Trophy Guide Playlist
Step 2: Most Wanted Targets, Collectibles, Side Missions, Weapons, Drone Modules
In the second step you’ll be going for game completion and finish up all the side activities required for trophies. This can all be done after beating the last story mission.
There are 16 Most Wanted Targets to kill, 31 Collectibles to find, 16 Side Missions to complete, many weapons and drone modules to unlock.
You can keep track of all these things in the statistics. Refer to the respective trophies for more info.
Step 3: Miscellaneous Trophies & Mop-Up
If you’re still missing anything such as the Triple Kill trophy you can do it now. There’s a good chance that you’ll unlock most miscellaneous trophies through natural gameplay without trying.

- Side Mission Starting Points & Locations
- Weapon Locations (Primary, Secondary, Sidearms)
GLITCH WARNINGS:
- “Marshall” for killing all Most Wanted Targets is unobtainable with version 1.00 and also with version 1.03. The game is missing one most Wanted Target in version 1.00 (Dr. Darya Kuznetsov). They patched in this target with 1.03 but deleted another one (Stepan Chbaarta). So with either version one target is missing. There is currently only one solution! Play with the unpatched 1.00 version and kill all Most Wanted Targets there. You should end up with 15/16 targets and only be missing “Dr. Darya Kuznetsov”. Now update to the latest patch and get Dr. Darya Kuznetsov there. This is only possible with the retail disc version! With the digital PSN version it will always download the patch automatically with the game. With the disc version you can simply disconnect from the internet and it won’t download anything (PS4 Settings > Network > Connect to the Internet > Uncheck). Until this gets a proper fix the trophy is absolutely unobtainable with the digital version!!!
- After beating the story there is a glitch that randomly locks all of your weapons. This resets the progress you have made with your weapon collection and all you can use is the starting weapons. To unlock them again you must replay the entire game. It is HIGHLY advised that you make backups of the save game on a USB device from time to time. If in doubt, go for all the weapons and side missions before finishing Act 4.
Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Trophy Guide

The quickest farming spot is at the very beginning of Act 2. Immediately after Act 1 ends (wedding) it will transition to Act 2. Here you are in a cave with 2 enemies. Let them get close to you, jump onto one of the two enemies and restart checkpoint. Repeat this 20 times.

The quickest farming spot is at the very beginning of Act 2. Immediately after Act 1 ends (wedding) it will transition to Act 2. There are two enemies entering a cave. Hang on the wall at the cave exit where they’re coming from. When they’re over the ledge press the melee button to take them out. Restart the checkpoint to farm 5 kills here.

All enemies respawn when fast traveling to a different map (Mining Town / Village / Dam).

For the trophy “Long Shot” you must kill an enemy from 500 meters away. For “Marksman” it must be a headshot from 500 meters using a scope x10.
Doing the “Marksman” trophy will automatically unlock “Long Shot”.
First you must buy and equip a scope x10 in the safe house. This can be done after the first story mission (the one after prologue). Interact with the weapon cache in the safe house to buy and attach the scope. I was using the starting weapon (XM-2015 sniper rifle). In the game options enable “Aim Assistance” and “Sniper Red Dot Aim Helper”. When holding your breath (press L3) it will now show a little yellow dot. This dot marks where the bullet will hit. The dot turns red when it’s going to hit an enemy.

For this you need to line up 3 enemies and kill them in one hit with the sniper rifle. The best place for this is Daitbora Estate, an enemy base on the “Mining Town” map. It’s very close to your safe house, to the south-west of it (coordinates: 25.11;20.70). If you’ve already cleared out the camp, fast travel to a different map (Village / Dam — they are unlocked later in the story) and the enemies will respawn.
Three enemies are guarding the entrance to a building. Two of them are walking around a little bit and they always meet up every 60 seconds or so. A third one is standing still behind them. Wait for the two enemies to stand close together, line up the third and kill them all with one headshot. If you have armor piercing ammo (unlocks later in the story) you can do a body shot. If you fail, let the enemies kill you and they’ll respawn.

Sneak up to an enemy from behind (unnoticed) and kill him with a shot from the sniper rifle from 1 meter distance or less. Once the takedown / interrogation prompt comes up you should be close enough. Works good on lone enemies such as snipers. Can also be done on the first two enemies in the prologue.

On the Mining Town map, at coordinates 23.49;19.62, there’s a big lake (far east and about halfway up the map). The second biggest island in the middle of the lake has a box. Looting this box unlocks the trophy and achievement.

Awesome thx man!! :D
April 29, 2017 at 3:41 am
in the 1.03 version the Stepan Chbaarta is missing so you can’t get the Marshall trophy
April 29, 2017 at 4:23 am
:o For real? I’ll look into this. That would really suck. I hope 1.03 save games are compatible with unpatched 1.00. Otherwise it means yet another playthrough, oh yay.
April 29, 2017 at 4:46 am
no the suck thing is the 1.00 version also miss a guy so you have to first play the 1.00 to kill Stepan Chbaarta and update to 1.03 to kill another one
April 29, 2017 at 4:48 am
This game is just getting better every day. OMG haha.
Thanks for letting me know! I appreciate it. Added a warning to the guide so people can start without the patch.
April 29, 2017 at 6:24 pm
I have done all the missions. But still there is a objective from Blockout that I have to kill the target. When I go to the locations I can’t find him and the icon disappears. Anyone the same problem? Or hopefully a solution?
May 12, 2017 at 11:01 pm
Start over 🙁
April 30, 2017 at 4:01 am
I haven’t seen you update where the recurve bow is, and I ended up finding it by accident. In case you still didn’t know where it was, it’s in Mining Town at 24.05;21.77
It’s a person of interest on the map, and it’s in a little cave.
April 30, 2017 at 4:09 am
Meant point of interest, not person.
April 30, 2017 at 5:57 am
Thanks, just added in the coordinates for all remaining weapons. Just adding a few finishing touches to other trophies and then the guide is complete.
April 30, 2017 at 6:54 am
Trophy Guide is now complete 🙂
May 2, 2017 at 12:27 am
Quick question, with the glitched trophy Marshall. If I roll back my save file to patch 1.00, does it reset my Most wanted? Because I’ve already gotten half of the most wanted targets.
May 2, 2017 at 1:09 am
Usually when you go back from patched version to unpatched it won’t read your save game (to avoid patch jumping and potential abuse of exploits from past versions). I haven’t tried, but in all likelihood you’ll have to start over.
May 2, 2017 at 5:23 pm
I have trouble trying to unlock Drone/Weapon Trophy, even i buy it all and try dying multiple time, it didn’t pop for me.
*Sorry, please delete above post, auto filling suck.*
May 2, 2017 at 6:32 pm
I received data from fellow trophy hunter that it maybe popped after collected all weapon, it should be popped all at once in loading screen (4 trophy, 3 weapon+1 drone)
Try buying everything possible in the shop before attempt.
Myself try it and got 3 weapon trophy popped but still no drone trophy.
I SUSPECTED that it require you to buy lesser version of it because you buy larger version before lesser version and so you can’t buy lesser version and it didn’t register properly that you owned it. if you missed it, it seems to be not popped after you died. Hope this glitch is fixed.

April 21, 2020 at 10:33 pm
Guys i found something new first the FM-3000 UM we can find in cave in mining town cords 25.39.22.72 Second colectable sword of anicetus for some grups of payers is on the cave next to the one of targets 26.23.11.97 you must kill some enemies than go to the left than slide down by rope and in the water will be our collectible
May 7, 2020 at 8:41 am
Side mission ‘Opium Wars V’ will not activate. I have done everything else and that one side mission is all that is keeping me from my platinum trophy.
I have tried deleting the game and reinstalling it with and without update patches. Is there a way to trigger it somehow? Is there anything known as to what causes it?
I e-mailed City Interactive, but there answer was basically ‘Sorry, can’t help you there. There was probably some kind of a bug which improperly saved your profile status. Sorry for the inconvenience’.

Eight tips to make you a sniping machine in Sniper Ghost Warrior 3

So Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is out in the wild and let’s face it, you’re not exactly an experienced, cold blooded killer who can kill his targets from half a mile away without them even knowing you’re there, are you?
Not to worry, these eight essential tips will get you up to speed in no time.
Use the red dot
The first thing you need to know about SGW 3 is that it is a fairly accurate representation of actual sniping, thus several parameters come into play when you’re lining up the shot. Wind direction and force, distance, latitude, altitude – you need to take all of these into consideration to be accurate and deadly. Thankfully, there’s a helping hand. As you aim down the scope a red dot will move independent to your cursor and show you where your bullet will end up. Make sure you use the red dot and learn how the different surrounding inputs will affect the trajectory of your shot.
Deep breath
This may seem like a rather obvious one, but there’s nothing wrong with covering the basics. When aiming down the sights your scope will undoubtedly be fidgety and hard to straighten. Keep a steady hand by press down L3 and holding your breath. This will give you a few seconds to be precise and takedown your target.
Turn off bullet cam
Everything about Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is hyper realistic, from the recoil on the guns to the way the slightest breeze will change the direction of your bullets. Everything except the use of a bullet cam. It doesn’t go into the hilarity of x-ray shots of testicles exploding, but it does drag you away from your scope to see your foe slump to the ground in a bloody heap. To me this bullet cam feels jarring and out of place with the seriousness and realism of the sniping. I’d recommend turning bullet cam off and watch your enemies fall with a thud from a distance. It’s chilling, but it doesn’t half make you feel like a silent assassin bad ass.
Scouting for Snipers
Jon North isn’t only a deadly sniper, he is also a master tracker. You have the ability to plot out routes, spot enemy footsteps and get a grasp of your surroundings. With the help of a handy drone you can also tag enemies in certain areas so you don’t have to go blindly into the fray. Before embarking into dangerous territory it is always worth scouting out where you are going, to avoid nasty surprises.
Keep your distance and make a nest
There are three vivid play styles to Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. The sniper, who keeps his distance and kills from afar, the Ghost, who sneaks in and completes his task without raising alarm, and finally, the Warrior, who goes in guns blazing, hair raising, and wipes out enemy strongholds with brawn and bluster. While the other two may be fun in their own ways, and you should play to whatever style suits you, I would say that SGW 3 is at its best when you are sniping and doing so from a distance. It feels authentic and it’s incredibly fun to take out your target from 250 meters away then slink off into the undergrowth with everyone none the wiser.
So on that note, keeps things quiet. Be careful and slow in your movements, be aware of where enemies are and keep out of sight. If you miss a shot or stand up in the open and give away your position the wrath of a thousand crashing waves will descend upon thee and fighting out of it is a slog. Automatic weapons are unwieldy and inaccurate and you’re on your own, it doesn’t take much to be gunned down.
Take stock of silencers and supplies
In order to always stay ahead of the enemy you must be prepared. Silencers are your most important tool and they are perishable, so always make sure you’ve got enough in stock. The last thing you want is to run out of them, let off a loud sniper shout unknowingly, and basically light up a “come kill me beacon” to every foe within a mile. Be smart and be prepared.
Check out the ?s
Throughout the map of war torn Georgia there are dozens upon dozens upon dozens of little questions marks. These indicate secrets or side missions for you to discover and they could be anything. From a fella blowing himself up in his meth lab to some poor hostages that need saving, it’s worth exploring these secrets and seeing what you can find.

Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior Revealed by Rebellion

Rebellion has lifted the lid on Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior, a Meta Quest-based game that puts players in the immersive, first-person perspective of an Italian resistance soldier during the Second World War. It reportedly boasts ‘hyper immersive gunplay’ and multiple modes that promise to keep budding snipers entertained for hours on end.
Become The Winter Warrior
Sniper Elite 5, the latest game in the core franchise, was released around a year and a half ago to a relatively positive reception. It hasn’t ever been the biggest seller, but it’s a top-tier title for those that like to play a little strategically – and pop Nazi testicles in X-ray killcams, of course.
Earlier today, Rebellion uploaded a one-minute trailer showcasing Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior:
It boasts several key features, as outlined by the long-time developer of this perfect franchise for sniper enthusiasts:
- Riveting Campaign
- Hyper immersive gunplay
- Sniper Hunt (a side mode) pits you against expert Nazi sharpshooters
- Hold the line in Last Stand (another side mode) against ever-increasing waves of enemies
- Experience the brutality of X-Ray Kill Cam in VR
- Feel those bullets hit with ProTubeVR and bHaptics support
It’s not going to win awards, but it looks entertaining enough for those who want to slay World War II’s German oppressors with reckless abandon.
Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior releases November 30th on Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro.

40 Cubed3 Despite still being mired with an unhealthy assortment of technical hiccups and a paper thin narrative that feels like a rejected Call of Duty plot line, there is still fun to be mined out of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 but it's entirely dependent on an individual's tolerance of the occasional glitch.

Apr 24, 2017 72 Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is the best entry in the series yet... but again, it's not good enough. The open world feels great after the last (awful) campaign, and it has more content on offer than ever, but it forgets its roots and turns into a Far Cry wannabe.

SGW is a stealth/sniper game, like Project IGI, or a little bit like Splinter Cell. Far Cry is an action game, where there is ALWAYS something going on. Which can be tiring at times. The world in SGW3 is not empty, but it is static. The civilians, enemies and wildlife will stay almost static at one place.
Jan 2, 2018 Xbox 360 3 Seamus100 This game is too buggy. Game status says you missed a secret, but I know I got them all. You can't climb stairs while crouched! You have to stand up and sometimes jump. This action gets you shot and you lose health.

Based on 275 user reviews. 70. Eurogamer Italy. In Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 there are not one but three approaches to complete the stealth missions of sniper Jon North. But despite the nice gameplay design, the poor narrative and technical realization are still blocking the title from reaching excellence. 67.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is a sequel to Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2. It has changed gameplay style now taking an open world approach for missions to be completed.
