Overview [ edit ]

From the start, Haunted Holes are encountered. Here, the player finds Eeries near the bottom of the platform near the beginning. Later, the Fishin' Boo appears. The blue light of the Fishin' Boo can hit all the way down to the ground level. In the middle of the level, the player finds a Prize Block (two in the Game Boy Advance reissue ) with power-ups, both of which give either a Super Mushroom or a Cape Feather , depending on Mario or Luigi 's status. At the end of the first room, the player finds another Haunted Hole with a door nearby that takes the player to the next room. In the Game Boy Advance reissue, there is a Midway Gate nearby as well.
In the next room, there are Boo Buddy Blocks. On top of the Gray Blocks is a power-up, which gives a Super Mushroom or a Fire Flower . The player encounters a few Boo Buddy Snakes . To get to the exit, the player can perform Spin Jumps on the Boo Buddies or fly their way up with a cape to the door platform in the middle of the room. The Spin Jump is possible only on the first of every line of Boo Buddies. Alternatively, the player can lure the Boo Buddy Blocks towards the edge of the platform where the exit is and use them as platforms to jump up to the door platform. This door leads to the exit, and the player gains access to Chocolate Island 2 . If the player continues to the end of the room, they will find a dead end and a Rotating Block with a 1-Up Mushroom .

Walkthrough [ edit ]

- The gaps in the floor move back and forth. As such, you should not try to run right in them and jump over the gaps as you see them.
- Halfway through, a Fishin' Boo will pursue you. Its flame is lethal, and its presence really restricts your ability to jump, making it difficult to avoid incoming threats.

- You can get a feather from the ? block if you wish.
- At the end, you can obviously only enter the door if it's not suspended in mid-air. Once solid ground comes back, enter it to get to the second area.

- This area contains several new enemies. The Boos move diagonally and bounce off walls just like the fireballs that appear in castles.
- The Boo blocks are more interesting: if you turn their back they pursue you, but if you look towards them they become blocks that are perfectly safe to stand on.
- The flower in the ? block is a bit difficult to collect and best avoided. You can, however, go to the very end of the area and grab the 1-up mushroom from the turn block if you wish.
- Ultimately, you will want to reach the door at the top. To do so, you must lure the Boo blocks towards you so they form a staircase that allows you to reach the door. A different, but harder way is to spin jump off the Boos in the area.
- Once you have reached the door, you're done; the door leads to the goal tape.

Safe strats, fast strats.
These Strats save a second at most, and are quite tricky. The Door fly at the end only saves time if you land on the very right of the platform after the boo bounce.
Alternate Fast Strats
This room 1 requires no floating with Mario's cape but is conditional. It doesn't work with instant fast fly. If Mario gets 51 flight speed before the fishing boo, it can be done just like in the video. If Mario gets 51 flight speed after the fishing boo appears, tap A to float for one framerule after cape cancelling on the fishing boo. The regular jump in room 2 is to start the flight meter for the door fly. Some find this method easier than using a spin fly to set the flight meter.
No Cape Categories
Damage boost.
Jump immediately after the first door in case you miss it, or just wait and attempt the door after the hole has moved out from under it. The small only strat can also be used to keep a powerup here.
With Fire Mario, a small delay is required to move the first boo line out of the way. Going as fast as possible is used in the video, but optionally, hugging the right wall while bouncing on the boo line can also (more reliably) avoid damage. With small Mario, a delay isn't required for the first boo line.

World 6 Chocolate Island
Apparently, Yoshi isn't the only Dinosaur in town. Chocolate Island is teeming with them. Chocolate Island 1 has only a gate, but if you can't figure out how to get across the last chasm, try going down the gray pipe at the end of the level.
Finally, a Ghost House with only one possible gate! However Choco-Ghost House can be hard to figure out. On the second segment, you will run over some Ghosts that when you look at them, turn into square gray blocks. Go slow and let these ghosts follow you after you go past them. A couple of screen lengths over to the right will be a door up on a platform too high to jump to. When the block ghosts are in the right position, look at them to freeze them so that you can jump on them and then up to the platform with the door. Of course, with a cape it should be easy to fly up to the platform without the ghosts.
Chocolate Island 2 can be very, very confusing. If you work very, very hard and collect all the possible coins, you will be rewarded with¿ the same path opening as the standard gate. The trick is to forget about coins, and just try to get through the level as fast as possible. If you're fast enough, you will eventually reach the key, which will give you access to Chocolate Secret.
Chocolate Island 3 has two gates and they're both at the end of the level. When you get to the end, you will see that there is a gate above you, and you can climb a vine to go through it. If you do this, you will open a circular path straight back to the same level. Instead, using either a cape or a Yoshi, you can fly across the chasm to the right and you will find another gate, which will allow you to continue to the Chocolate Fortress.
Wendy, of Wendy's Castle is just like Lemmy. You will recognize Wendy from her bright red outfit, distinguishing her from the duck faced guards that also come out of the pipes. Beating Wendy will finally grant access to the fearsome Valley of Bowser.
