Nathan Fielder Catches Up with the Ghost Realtor in This ‘Nathan for You: A Celebration’ Sneak Peek

Tomorrow, Comedy Central will air an hourlong Nathan for You special called Nathan for You: A Celebration , where Fielder will reunite with some of the people he’s worked with over the past three seasons on the show. In the above sneak peek posted to Facebook today, Fielder checks in with Sue AKA “The Ghost Realtor” from season 2 , who has embraced her rebranding and even has a new psychic partner. The special also features updates from P.I. Brian Wolfe and some other past season guests and airs on Comedy Central tomorrow night at 10:00pm. After that, season 4 of Nathan for You premieres on Thursday, September 28th at 10:00pm and wraps up in early November with a two-hour finale. Comedy Central promised that the finale will be “unlike anything that has been broadcast on television before,” and Rolling Stone says the finale episode “makes even ’The Hero’ seem simple by comparison.”

The 10 Best Nathan For You Episodes
Relive the times Nathan Fielder made you laugh, cringe, and... develop a deeper understanding of the human condition?

If you can endure the sheer cringe of the social exchanges between Fielder and the people on the show, the series is easily binged, with 20-minute-long episodes. Relentlessly determined to follow through with his plans by almost any means possible, Fielder never failed to astonish. Each episode shows such a chaotic series of events that it's hard to look away, no matter how uncomfortable you get. Whether you’re looking to revisit some of the most remarkable Nathan For You episodes, or you want to get a taste of Fielder before watching his latest show, The Rehearsal , we’ve got you covered.
Watch Nathan For You on Amazon
S2 E6: “Dating Website; Party Planner”

Fielder titled the dating website for his idea to have a chaperone observe a woman’s first date from a distance... “Daddy’s Watching.” To receive help on the date, women just have to yell, “Daddy, daddy, come over now. Save my life you made a vow.” Cringe.
S4 E7: “Finding Frances”

The final episode of Nathan For You series is unlike any other. Aside from its longer runtime at almost an hour and a half long, the episode didn’t center a business in need. Instead, it followed Fielder and Bill Heath, a Bill Gates impersonator previously hired on the show, who search for Heath’s old flame.
S3 E3: “The Movement”

“The Movement” started as a solution for the rising cost of labor in the moving industry. Then, it transformed into promoting a new exercise program with a professional bodybuilder as the face of the fad. Fielder landed the attention of the press with a bodybuilder who claimed to have never stepped in a gym.
S4 E5: “The Anecdote”

In “The Anecdote,” Fielder cracked the formula for the type of story that would make a late-night talk show audience laugh. To ensure he had a story prepared for his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! , Fielder spent six figures to orchestrate “the ultimate talk show anecdote.”
S3 E4: “Sporting Goods Shop; Antique Shop”

An antique shop with a “you break, you buy it” policy struggled to make sales. What was Fielder's totally normal solution? The host lured drunk customers into the store under the guise of free pizza—to increase the likelihood of shattering goods. A man that Fielder found at a bar waltzed right into his mouse trap, bumping into shelves lined with breakable antiques.
S1 E2: “Santa; Petting Zoo”

Fielder faked a video of a pig saving a goat from drowning in hopes of it going viral and putting a petting zoo on the map. While it initially seemed straightforward to pull off, it required more work than anticipated. The extra effort paid off. The video accumulated hundreds of thousands of views within a day. It even aired on Good Morning America!
S2 E1: “Mechanic; Realtor”

In hopes of capitalizing on the half of the population that believes in ghosts, Fielder rebranded a real estate agent as the Ghost Realtor. To attest the homes for sale were ghost and demon-free, Fielder hired a psychic to take a look. The psychic cleared all houses but one. To stay true to Ghost Realtor’s claims, Fielder booked an exorcism. It got... pretty intense.
S1 E8: “Private Investigator; Taxi Company”

Brian Wolfe claimed to be the best private investigator in the Los Angeles area, but had no Yelp reviews to back it up. Fielder challenged Wolfe, tracking him for a day so he could evaluate whether his work was worthy of five stars. Fielder’s antics didn’t amuse Wolfe—they riled him up instead. “You remind of the wizard of loneliness,” Wolfe told Fielder after hearing his review.
S2 E2: “Souvenir Shop; ELAIFF”

Fielder’s elaborate plan to increase the foot traffic of a souvenir shop located further down the Hollywood Walk of Fame left him in a serious legal bind. To attract customers, Fielder hired a Johnny Depp and a Bill Gates impersonator to stage a film set at the shop. Fielder tricked extras into buying souvenirs to land a shot in the final cut. Without actually producing a movie, Fielder found himself in predicament—he could be charged with fraud. To avoid a run-in with the law, Fielder created a movie. As we found out, of course, that still wasn’t enough.
S1 E4 “Gas Station; Caricature Artist”

Each episode of Nathan For You is obviously unhinged, but this is in a league of its own. Fielder found a way for a gas station to claim the cheapest prices in the country. His idea banked on offering a rebate that would be ridiculously inconvenient to claim. The lengths that customers were willing to go through to receive their rebate is a true case study on human behavior. By the end of the segment, Fielder broke character—a rare moment for the master of cringe—when he learned a surprising wellness tip practiced by the gas station owner.

Watch Nathan Fielder Follow Up with “The Ghost Realtor” from 2nd Season of Nathan For You
This is from Nathan For You: A Celebration , which visited “clients” of Nathan Fielder in past seasons of the show.
Somehow, the “ghost realtor”, which started as a prank small business plan grew into something stranger, took on a life of its own beyond the prank, and continued to get even more strange after Nathan was done with shooting the episode in season 2.
How strange? Well, see for yourself here .

Nathan For You : “Mechanic/Realtor”
One of the great pleasures of Nathan For You is Nathan Fielder’s talent for staying in character, but “staying in character” feels like an inadequate way to describe the comedian’s approach. It might be more appropriate to say that Fielder has a gift for staying out of character. Yes, the insecure, half-oblivious problem-solver “Nathan Fielder” is an invention—nobody suspects we’re seeing the authentic man here—but the persona is distinguished by its lack of affectation. While the correspondents of The Daily Show are heightened avatars of lunatic TV news, skewering their interviewees from a place of authority, Fielder’s performance heightens nothing. He’s a pitiable man-child, the kind of person who fades into the background of daily life, which makes him hilariously out of place in the always-on!, always-up! broadcast realm.
Both The Daily Show and Nathan For You depend on the presence of cameras to make regular folks do strange things, but where the former program plays with the tension induced by TV’s watchful eye, Nathan plays against it. Fielder knows that the camera crew behind him inevitably raises the energy in the room, so he counters that with his low-energy approach. Caught between two poles, Fielder’s interlocutors don’t know which way to go—should they take their cues from the artifice of the cameras or from the apparent authenticity of woefully human Nathan? It’s funny to watch the participants in Nathan For You struggle with these opposing guideposts, and it’s even funnier to see the personal honesty that emerges amid their uncertainty.
Honesty is the topic of tonight’s first half, which makes it a fitting introduction of the show’s basic dynamic for viewers who didn’t see Nathan For You ’s brilliant first season. Nathan aims to improve mechanic Greg Boodaghian’s reputation by convincing customers that G&Y Auto Repair gives truthful, fair estimates. First, Nathan tests Boodaghian’s sincerity by serving him a plate of cookies made with salt instead of sugar. What would be a childish prank on almost any other show serves as a compelling test of human nature here, and Boodaghian passes, sweetly finding a middle ground between the dictates of politeness and honesty: “They’re a little salty—different!” An approving Nathan declares this semi-truthfulness “good enough,” but he also pushes Boodaghian to eat another cookie until the beleaguered mechanic finally utters a clipped “no.” You don’t get to fence-sit on Nathan For You .
The lie-detector segments reprise a gag that Fielder first pulled on the Canadian comedy show This Hour Has 22 Minutes , whose “Nathan On Your Side” segments were a spiritual predecessor to Nathan For You . But Fielder takes the joke further here, challenging the polygraph technicians more directly than he did on 22 Minutes .
When Nathan takes his second lie-detector test, there are a couple of subtle, expert touches by Fielder that lead the unwitting technician, John Grogan, into his trap. The first comes when Nathan invites Grogan to shit on less modern polygraph technology, an opportunity Grogan eagerly accepts: The older machines are “only 80-percent accurate,” he scoffs. This sets up the later irony of Grogan taking umbrage at questions about his own technology. Grogan’s first instinct is not to engage with Nathan’s inane objections and to let his professionalism speak for himself. But Fielder draws him in with another crafty move: He passingly disdains Grogan’s computer by remarking that it’s a Dell. Grogan can no longer resist. “Computer’s a Toshiba,” he mutters.
Now he’s down on Nathan’s level. Even though Grogan is aware that the objections make no sense, the technician finds himself arguing on Nathan’s terms. It’s a comical dynamic encapsulated in one moment of beautiful exasperation after Nathan suggests that the computer’s Windows 95 installation is tainting the results. “Jesus, dude, you’re grasping at straws! The operating system has nothing to do with what you’re shooting out,” Grogan says. Then there’s a short pause as Grogan tries not to pursue the matter further. His point has been made. The operating system is irrelevant. But once again, he can’t help himself: “And it’s not Windows 95.” So often when people on this show think they’re out, they pull themselves back in.
The segment plays out nicely, with Nathan—still wounded by the notion that he was fibbing about his porn habits—openly questioning the lie detector in the presence of customers who are supposed to be reassured by it. The auto mechanic proves himself to be a good egg when his claim to be “happy” with Nathan’s efforts is verified by polygraph; Boodaghian wisely makes no attempt to endear himself to the host when Nathan asks him the now-standard question of whether he might like to hang out sometime. “No,” the mechanic says. “True,” Grogan says, with admirably concealed relish.
Fielder is such a nimble comedian that his humor works whether his marks get on board or not. Where Boodaghian is skeptical of Nathan from the start, realtor Sue Stanford is eventually convinced to buy into Nathan’s “ghost-free homes” marketing plan. What ensues is a typically hilarious Nathan For You affair, as Stanford’s agreeability leads her into deeper and deeper madness. Indeed, the realtor’s interest in the ghost-free scheme only deepens as a sketchy psychic is called in to detect house-bound spirits, followed by a somehow even sketchier exorcist who banishes the demons that the psychic found. Stanford happily lets the exorcist try to cure her back pain with his patented method of yelling at her a lot. It’s a weird scene that would be entirely uncomfortable were it not for the comic relief of Nathan snapping iPhone pics in the background.
But the highlight of the real-estate segment is one of those organic bizarre moments that sometimes happen as people navigate the shaky footing of Nathan For You . After the psychic explains that an incubus rapes people until they die, Stanford says, “Wow, that’s like what happened to me in Switzerland.” It’s in instants like this one that Fielder comes close to breaking his facade: You can see his eyes lock onto Stanford before she even finishes her sentence. After the practically salivating comedian asks Stanford to elaborate, she explains matter-of-factly that she was choked by a ghost in Switzerland. “Oh, yes,” she says, “there’s been many things that has happened to me in my life.”
As my colleague Erik Adams noted in his pre-air review , that exchange was reminiscent of the scene in season one where a gas station owner recommended the healthful benefits of drinking young children’s urine. There are few shows that would be capable of prompting such odd, un-self-conscious spontaneity; Nathan For You achieves it by pairing its elaborate, inventive scenarios with a host who seems too dull to come up with something so diabolical. Because he’s devoid of TV affectation, Nathan leaves little room for interview subjects to question his motives; the only logical course they see is to go along for the ride. As it happens, when perfectly sane people find themselves caught up in an insane premise, they expose their own inner madness—a madness that is Nathan For You ’s stock in trade.
Stray observations:
- If you haven’t seen the first season of Nathan For You , I highly recommend it, especially since all eight season-one episodes are available to stream on Comedy Central’s website.
- Look closely at the bench sign for Sue Stanford’s realty—there’s a demon in the top-floor bedroom window of this supposedly demon-free home. And as you’d expect on a show with such attention to detail, the ghostfreehomes.com URL goes to a working site.
- Speaking of signage detail, kudos to the production for finding the perfect font to make “We’re G&Y!” look as much like “We’re GAY!” as possible.
- I love Stanford’s delivery as she cautiously explains the concept of an incubus. “It’s a spirit that rapes women,” she says, and then she clenches her teeth in a little “Yikes, right?” gesture.
- The exorcist’s patter gets pretty shaggy as Nathan asks him to banish the small-penis-size demons that are plaguing his body. Also, he doesn’t know what hemorrhoids are, but he knows they’re definitely demon-based.
- Nathan in a nutshell: “So is that enough small talk to make you feel comfortable?”

Montana resident says the violence and corruption depicted on 'Yellowstone' is giving real ranchers 'a bad name'
- Not all Montana residents are pleased with "Yellowstone," reports the Washington Post .
- A Bozeman rancher told the publication that "the show has given our ranchers a bad name."
- That's because the ranching family on the show often resort to violence to solve their problems.

" Yellowstone " might be fueling Montana's tourism boom, but not all residents of the Big Sky State are pleased with the depiction of their home on screen, according to a report from the Washington Post .
As the most-watched scripted series in America, it's hardly a surprise that fans have been flocking to Montana , the location of the fictional Dutton ranch, to get a taste of the cowboy life for themselves.
According to a University of Montana study , more than two million visitors were inspired to visit the state (and spent approximately $730 million once there) after watching the Kevin Costner -led series that follows the dysfunctional Dutton family .
But one local the Washington Post spoke to said "Yellowstone" is negatively impacting the general public's view of modern-day ranchers who work and live in Montana.
Mark Greeno, a rancher at Nine Quarter Circle Ranch, said "the show has given our ranchers a bad name."
The outlet reported that the show's depiction of widespread and deeply-rooted violence and corruption doesn't ring true to Greeno, who has spent the last six years at the Bozeman ranch with his wife.
In "Yellowstone" — which co-creator Taylor Sheridan previously described as "'The Godfather' on the largest ranch in Montana" in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter — acts of violence feature in almost every episode.
Enemies of the Dutton family, from money-hungry real-estate developers and rival cowboys from other ranches to family members, have all found themselves unceremoniously disposed of at the "train station," a Dutton code word for a roadside ditch a few miles over the Wyoming border (which was inspired by Montana's own 50-mile square mile legal loophole ).
Elsewhere, other residents criticized the show for romanticizing Montana by not depicting the state all year round.
"One thing I've noticed is that 'Yellowstone' was only shot in the summer so people are blown away that it's cold, that the wind blows up here. It looks like it's 80 degrees and perfect temperatures in 'Yellowstone,'" Nathan St. Goddard, a Blackfeet tribal member and local business owner, told the publication.
Hillary Folkvord, a native of Three Forks, added: "They're not showing the hard days when it's below zero and the calves are frozen."
However, Folkvord added that she believes "Yellowstone" has "been good for" Montana.
"It shows how beautiful Montana is. And we hope to preserve that as stewards. That's really important to us," Folkvord said.

And to be fair, a ghost realtor is probably one of the most unironically genius ideas Nathan ever had, and she was super into it. So either way I don't think she really cared, since her business actually did grow from it. As far as I know the only person who caught on and realized it was a joke was the exterminator who delivered the hotel award.
