A TRULY RARE FIND IN TODAY'S

As soon as you step aboard FIVE STAR, you are immediately struck by the true beauty of this exquisite yacht. If you have boarded via the completely rebuilt hydraulic swim platform you will see your reflection in her paint work. ( IMRON 2021) Up 3 teak clad stairs located to port and you are in the heart of the social entertainment area. New tasteful designer cockpit upholstery ensures comfy seating or sun bathing. The large U shaped seating also converts to a great sun bathing pad. This area has the "right stuff “to make entertaining a breeze with the built-in ice maker, sink and a refrigerator at an easy reach.

The aft center of the seating lifts up to show a user friendly set of steps leading down to the Laundry room, the spare store room and the engine room. There is ample storage outboard on both sides in this area as well as separate washer and dryer. Heading forward one enters through the watertight door into the engine room filled with 2 very well mannered Cats.

Back up on deck we can open the 2 highly polished stainless steel framed glass doors which will nest bringing the inside saloon/helm deck and the aft cockpit into one enjoyable space.

If you can pull yourself away from the comfortable ambience of the aft deck you may enter into the upper saloon/helm deck. The fun just continues here. The addition of a new 44' Samsung TV (2021), Polk Sound bar(2021), and internal speakers (2021), one may dance the night away. An L shaped settee to starboard has a beautiful table with Burl accents and to port is the entertainment center. Tasteful ultra leather seating, new designer drapes, and carpet (2021) all complement the wonderful amount of natural light provided by large side windows and of course the total windshield across the front of the pilothouse. (New wiper blades 2021) As FIVE STAR handles like a sports car it is only befitting that she should have an opening convertible top. The center window in the windshield is also power operated and will open at the touch of a finger.

FIVE STAR'S helm deck is up one step from the bridge deck saloon. A custom Captain's chair and adjacent forward facing ultra leather seating means a couple of your favorite peeps can enjoy watching you the master at work.

Boasting a classically sporty silhouette, and reaching the high-speeds characteristic of a Mangusta, the 28m (93ft) superyacht FIVE STARS (ex NUMBER FIVE) was built in 2005 by Overmarine and last refitted in 2017. A seamless fusion of flawless style and superb function, she really wows guests with her outdoor spaces.

Guest Accommodation

This motor yacht has room for 10 guests across 4 elegantly appointed ensuite cabins. This includes a wonderful master cabin (with its own sauna for guests to soak in after bronzing onboard all day long) a VIP cabin, a twin cabin and a single bed cabin. Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 32 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 35 knots with a range of up to 400 nautical miles from her 7,100 litre fuel tanks at 31 knots.

Five Stars knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with a selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Principle among these is a waterski that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. Another excellent feature are two SEABOBs, offering a truly remarkable experience that lets you skim along the surface or swim with the fishes quietly and safely. I had a great experience working with Lisa and the entire Five Stars Yacht crew for my surprise engagement party for my fiance. Lisa was so communicative in the lead up to the event, explaining everything I could do for decorations and food on the boat and even allowing me to tour the boat before booking. I ended up preparing all the decorations and food beforehand and bringing it on the boat, and the crew was very helpful and accommodating to set up everything beforehand. The boat was perfect for my party of 40 and the views of the Bay with the full moon were stunning that night. Highly recommend working with Five Stars Yacht for any party in the future!

This overdue review is based on my overall experience with planning my birthday with Lisa at Five Stars Yacht. To summarize, I was constantly trying to work around the restrictions that Lisa failed to disclose at the time of contract. And all of this could've been avoided if it was mentioned on the very first day. I just felt blindsided every time she mentioned something new. If you run a business that hosts events, these should be listed in your contract! She was misleading, had poor communication, was unwilling to work with me, and lied. And this event is a couple $$$$. You would think that I would get better service for paying so much. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere! I met Lisa in February, through Sailo.com. While I toured the yacht, Lisa explained what I could expect from booking with them. She said I could decorate the boat however I wanted. She mentioned there were tablecloths in a variety of colors to match any theme. I mentioned I wanted pink tablecloths, and she said she had some light pink shades. She showed me upstairs and said they had tablecloths for the smaller tables as well. I mentioned I would want to decorate upstairs. I asked her if I could bring food onboard, which was okay. We went over bar service, music, and set up. She mentioned the yacht was available to set up in the morning before my event time. Now everything to me sounded great, but little did I know, a lot of what she mentioned was complete BS. I reviewed the contract in March, ready to book with her. The contract had the general cost information. I had questions about bar service, but since the company seemed very accommodating, I didn't have any other questions. Fast forward to July, my event was set for the end of the month. I was already ordering decor. Once I started emailing her details about how I wanted to decorate, many things were not approved. There were restrictions that were not disclosed at the time of contract. For example, no balloons outside, no tape on any surface;only string or ribbon. That is a huge detail you should mention early on, especially when it was clear that I wanted to decorate. After going through multiple options, I had to search for plan b, and just rented marquee numbers, since it was freestanding decor. And even she had some hesitations about that. Then, I asked her multiple times for photos of the pink tablecloths she had mentioned. 2 weeks before the party, she told me she "couldn't find them," and only had white or neutral. Clearly she did not have a variety of tablecloths. I don't even think the pink tablecloths existed. So I told her I would like the white tablecloths for the party. The next issue was food. I asked her if I could use sterno food warmers for one dish. She said no, and that I could only use electric. So, I asked about an electric griddle to set a tray on, and she still didn't approve it..Then, she mentioned a flameless warmer, but refused to send me a photo. She just said, "oh you'll see it online." I sent her an image of one option online, which still wasn't what she was describing, but still approved...all of the back and forth could've been avoided if she just showed me. To make matters worse, 2 days before the event she had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to charge gratuity on my card before the event! So I told her I do not pay gratuity before a service is given. I also asked a week in advance if I could set up starting at 10am, just 2 hours before the event time. I was told 10:30 was the earliest because the crew had to arrive at 10 and set up. On the day of the event, I showed up at 10:20 and the crew was not onboard. They showed up at 10:30 and still needed to set up. So I couldn't start decorating until 10:50, and was scrambling with the little time I had. And when I asked for the white tablecloths, they had no idea that I requested them. They didn't have any ready. They pulled out a DIRTY tablecloth that we just had to fold in half. And the captain didn't even know about any tablecloths for the smaller tables. There was clearly no communication between what I discussed with Lisa and her crew. I asked Lisa if we can bring the smaller table from the front deck inside. She told me the table outside couldn't fold up and had to stay outside, which I later found out was a lie. We had enough space for the food, but I still wanted the table out of the way. The crew told me they could bring the table in. It just shows she was unwilling to work with me and refused to accommodate a simple request. Once we left the dock, things seemed to settle down. The captain and the rest of the crew were great. Unfortunately, the crew service for the day didn't outweigh the stress I went through to plan the event. At the end of the party, I thanked the crew, but made it very clear to the captain that working with Lisa was extremely difficult and stressful.

Boy did we luck out. This was part of a 40th birthday present for my husband and it was absolutely the stand out, highlight of our day. First off, the people - Lisa, her husband (the captain) and her steward are some of the kindest, most helpful humans you'll ever meet. They are also incredibly professional. The process, from booking to good byes, was incredible simple. Now the yacht itself. Wow. She was definitely one of the bigger yachts on the harbor which had my family incredibly excited. We got a beautiful yacht, Lisa checking in and serving us, add to that pastries, fruits, an open bar, two outdoor tables (in the back and front) of the yacht, an upscale and large cabin, music, a great captain, a SECOND STORY to the boat...I mean..this kind of felt like highway robbery. And we were the robbers (they are incredibly reasonably priced) Since we're in a time of Covid I should also add that I saw them wiping the boat down several times, they were always in masks and Lisa served the food and drinks with gloves and a mask on. It's clear that they are very conscious of their health and the health of their customers. Lisa's mom is 90 and they're doing their best to take the right precautions to keep their family safe. All in all, I cannot wait to go back. I cant wait to bring friends onto this yacht (when it's safe). I couldn't be happier with this decision. Thank you so much Lisa for making a milestone birthday unforgettable!!!

Our family and friends had a beautiful day for Steve's Celebration of Life. The yacht is beautiful. The food is delicious. The service impeccable. It was a glorious day under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Five Stars for Five Stars Yacht of Sausalito! I wanted to do something special for my little sister's birthday, so I began to explore options for renting a boat and crew for a nice Bay tour and afternoon on the water. As I explored my options I was amazed at how all the little things I needed added up to one big hole in my pocket... until I spoke to Lisa with Five Stars. She was incredibly helpful, accommodated all of my wises, and offered solutions to keep me within budget. She allowed us to have a DJ on board, bring our own food and truly went above and beyond to ensure our afternoon was picture perfect. While at sea, Captain Ed took us on a beautiful tour of the Bay while Tommy and Heather made sure all of my guests were well-taken care of at the bar and throughout the boat. There were two bathrooms for use, and the view deck was truly stunning. Honestly, this yacht has it all - and the most wonderful crew to go with it. Now for the icing on the cake. When we had parted ways and regained our sea legs, we headed back to San Francisco to continue our birthday celebration. An hour or so later, one of my guests realized she had left her iphone on the yacht. Within 40 minutes, I was outside of a bar on Union Street watching Heather pull up to hand me the phone back. She drove to the city and returned my friend's phone in person!! I couldn't believe it. Truly exceptional service. Thank you Heather! Everyone is still talking about how much fun we had aboard the Five Stars Yacht last weekend. In fact I'm already looking forward to planning our next event on board!

This was the best experience. A couple co workers and I were charged with the tasks of planning a Belated holiday party for our California staff. We found this place and they worked with our proposed budget. The customer service was great! On the day of the even all the staff were excellent from the chef, the mixologist, and the boat captain. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If you are planning a boat party use this company and you will not be disappointed. I live in Southern California now but I am a Bay Area native and would definitely re book this company for any boat parties in the future.

Had a great time as the captain took us out under the GG bridge, around Alcatraz and then Angel island and finally back to dock. Drinks were delicious and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. This was for a work event, and I'd love to throw a birthday or some other event on it given the chance. Lisa was a great hostess and I'd totally ride on her boat again.

Had a wonderful trip with a lovely crew. Next time I'm definitely booking again with them. Everything was communicated well beforehand and the ship was just as expected from the pictures, it will not disappoint.

We had an experience today with Five Stats charter that was a bit unsavory. The captain pulled up to the presidio yacht club expecting to have access to the public dock which is first come first serve. He was clearly uneducated to the rules of this dock. As a captain your job is clearly to know your destination and the rules of the water way you are visiting. This particular dock you is first come first serve. He spent 15 to 20 minutes yelling at us over his loud speaker about how the dock was passengers load and offload only. He was very misinformed. His handling of the situation was very unprofessional. I tried several times to contact him over the VHF radio channel 19 which is the known mariners communication for the area. There was a large sail boat at the dock that had paid for occupancy who had every right to be there. We slipped into the shallow end of the dock with our 24 ft boat in front of the sail boat to enjoy time on the beach with our dog and friends from out of town. I am a courteous boater and understand the difficulty of operating a large vessel. The captain was nothing but rude about the situation. Had he contacted me on the radio and simply explained that he was picking up passengers I would have moved for him. Though instead he touted himself and his vessel as having the right of way which was not so. Kindness and courtesy will get you a long way. Try it next time. understand that you do not own the waterways. We all share the water. Treat other boaters as your mother taught you to treat others. You will be surprised how far it will get you. These materials and building techniques provide for a superior surface finish, greater resistance to osmosis, high degree of stiffness & stiffness/weight ratios, and greater hull strength against impact damage and thermal insulation.

Aft: Two C-shaped settees built in with raised panel detailing. Each settee has a hi/low table. Beneath each settee is storage and air conditioning systems

Forward: Helm area is to starboard. To port is an L-shaped bar with storage and a companionway forward to the accommodations below. The cabinetry to port includes a custom hide-away storage area for TV outboard of the entertainment center. There is a custom handrail at companionway heading below.

HELM STATION (Starboard)

The helm has an open view of galley below and surrounding deck. Twin powered Stidd helm seats in white with blue piping Ultra-leather cushions with chrome pedestals slide forward, aft and pivot. The helm seat has powered height adjustment; the companion seat is fixed height.

AFT PILOTHOUSE AREA:

Dinette (Port & Starboard):

• Two C-shaped cushioned dinette/settees,
• Two varnished cherry tables with Crown electric hi/low pedestals
• Rope lighting mounted under seat base
• Wall sconce lights

Stepping down from the pilothouse, the spacious galley is directly to port and comfortable dinette is to starboard. Ahead is a custom bar with wine cooler. Next to port is the guest/day head, and forward through the starboard passageway is the private main cabin with adjoining head.

• Microwave oven mounted outboard Polished stainless steel double sink with Grohe single-lever fixture with sprayer
• Hot and cold fresh water system
• (2) U-line Eschelon drawer-type refrigeration with cherry fronts
• Freezer - custom top-loading, insulated box with Grunert wrap-around freezer plate
• U-line 110-Volt icemaker

• Refrigeration is mounted aft and is accessed by a counter lift-up top

Galley Aft: There is a double polished stainless steel sink with Grohe single-lever chrome fixture with sprayer and hot and cold pressure water. Outboard the sink is a top opening freezer. The countertop has a back splash that protects the cherry bulkhead. Over the sink is a custom dish/glass storage area as well as a custom mug storage area. The microwave is mounted outboard of the stove area. Below the sink are two doors to storage space. A dome light is under the storage locker and provides extra light to the sink work area.

Galley Outboard: There is a built-in recessed electric cook top with storage drawers under and storage lockers outboard with sliding doors. A trash compactor is under the counter aft and forward is the 2 drawer-style refrigeration system behind cherry fronts.

Galley Inboard: There is more counter space with a lift-up hatch to a dry storage area. There are also additional lockers and drawers under the counter in this area.

The forward dinette (starboard of the galley) is C-shaped and has a hi/low powered table that converts this area to a double berth. The settee has a Samsung flat-screen TV mounted on aft bulkhead.

CUSTOM BAR:

High gloss cherry bar is built in forward and features beveled glass doors, leather lined bottle shaped cut-outs, storage below with two shelves, and a Sub-Zero wine cooler.

The finished interior of the head is gloss-varnished cherry with white fabric overheads, varnished cherry battens, and a varnished teak and tulip cabin sole with a cabin sole cover. The shower area is finished in laminate for ease of cleaning.

Spanish police arrest three over death of migrants thrown from boat

MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish police have arrested three people over the deaths of five migrants who were deliberately forced off a speedboat last November, just off an Atlantic ocean beach in Cadiz in southern Spain, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

The two men and one woman detained in the Algeciras area about 70 km (44 miles) southeast of Cadiz, are accused of forcing the migrants to jump at knife point into the swell with strong currents, despite knowing that many migrants could not swim.

The trio are also suspected of belonging to a criminal organisation, offences against the rights of foreign nationals, injuries and smuggling.

Images published on social media in November showed a black inflatable speedboat circling in heavy tides off the beach and people on board pushing others off the side.

Police, who made the arrests after finding the boat, said there were at least 37 migrants on board who had paid between 3,000 euros and 12,000 euros ($3,270-$13,075) each for the journey between Kenitra in Morocco and Cadiz.

Despite its proximity to Morocco, the Cadiz area is not a common destination for migrants due to rough seas on the Atlantic coast and surveillance around the Strait of Gibraltar nearby.

The number of migrants arriving in Spain by boat in the first two months of this year quadrupled to 13,485 from the same period a year ago, interior ministry data shows.

Rights group Walking Borders said 6,618 people lost their lives during risky sea voyages trying to reach Spain in 2023.

MEULABOH – An Indonesian search and rescue ship on Thursday located a capsized wooden boat that had been carrying dozens of Rohingya Muslim refugees, and began pulling survivors who had been standing on its hull to safety.

An AP photographer aboard the rescue ship said 10 people had been taken aboard local fishing boats and another 59 were being saved by the Indonesian craft.

Men, women and children, weak and soaked from the night’s rain, wept as the rescue operation got underway and people were taken aboard a rubber dinghy to the rescue boat.

There were contradictory reports about whether anyone had died in the accident, with survivors saying many who had been aboard when the boat departed from Bangladesh were still unaccounted for, but authorities insisted everyone had been rescued.

“We have examined all 69 Rohingya that we rescued and from our examination, there was no information from them about any deaths," Fathur, a rescue officer who gave only one name, told reporters. "We managed to evacuate all 69 people and no one stated that anyone had died.”

With the addition of six Rohingya who were rescued by private fishing boats that were at the scene well before authorities launched the official rescue mission, a total of 75 people from the boat were saved.

But Samira, a 17-year-old who was among the refugees from the Kutupalong camp in Bangladesh who had been traveling to Malaysia, said there had been 146 people on board, raising the prospect that 71 could still be missing at sea.

She said the boat began foundering three days ago and then capsized on Wednesday, adding that her nephew was among those unaccounted for.

“All of us are very sad," she said. “We are very hungry and weak.”

When fishing vessels reached the scene on Wednesday, desperate refugees clamored aboard one of the boats, overloading it and causing it to also capsize. It was not immediately clear what happened to the crew on board.

After being informed about the refugees in need of help by the fishermen Wednesday morning, an official search and rescue team set off from Banda Aceh city on Wednesday evening. They didn't reach the area of the accident until early in the morning and could not initially locate the capsized boat.

When they came upon it midday Thursday, they found the refugees on its hull, desperate for help.

They rescued 42 men, 18 women and nine children and took some to a temporary shelter in the Aceh Besar district and others to a local hospital for treatment.

Amiruddin, a tribal fishing community leader in Aceh Barat district, said those rescued indicated that the boat was sailing east when it started leaking and then strong currents pushed it toward the west of Aceh.

About 740,000 Rohingya fled earlier to Bangladesh to escape a brutal counterinsurgency campaign by security forces in their homeland of Myanmar.

Thousands have been trying to flee overcrowded camps in Bangladesh to neighboring countries, with Indonesia seeing a spike in refugee numbers since November which prompted it to call on the international community for help. Rohingya arriving in Aceh face some hostility from some fellow Muslims.

Indonesia, like Thailand and Malaysia, is not a signatory to the United Nations’ 1951 Refugee Convention outlining their legal protections, and so is not obligated to accept them. However, they have so far provided temporary shelter to refugees in distress.

Last year, nearly 4,500 Rohingya — two-thirds of them women and children — fled their homeland of Myanmar and the refugee camps in neighboring Bangladesh by boat, the United Nations refugee agency reported. Of those, 569 died or went missing while crossing the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea, the highest death toll since 2014.

Returning safely to Myanmar is virtually impossible because the military that attacked them overthrew Myanmar’s democratically elected government in 2021 . No country has offered them any large-scale resettlement opportunities.
