PDQ 41 Power Catamaran

The PDQ 41 design is based on all the learning experiences of the PDQ 34 coupled with extensive computer aided design and testing efforts. The PDQ 41 is the most fuel efficient boat of this class ever built and yet her performance will knock your socks off.

The walk-around bed on the PDQ 41 is surrounded by full-size windows and is located on the saloon level. In fact, the master suite also occupies the entire starboard hull. This provides a tremendous amount of storage and comfort for live-aboard cruising. With the queen-size bed in the master suite, a galley big enough to be called a kitchen, and a very large shower in the master head, the PDQ 41 was designed for comfortable living and long distance cruising.

The boat can be boarded from the transom steps in each hull, and there are handrails to ease that side-step motion. There are also two other access gates on each side deck, so there are really good options for getting on and off this cat in varying tidal and docking situations. Thirty-inch-high rails surround the side decks, foredeck, and aft cockpit, and one feels very secure walking around the boat. Additional handrails along the cabin eyebrow add extra security when under way. And the 14-inch wide side decks allow easy movement forward and back to the cockpit.

Five steps lead from the aft cockpit to the flybridge, with sturdy handrails assisting movement up to the boatdeck and upper helm. The radar arch is hinged and hydraulically driven to lower for bridge clearance and is perfect for satellite television, radar, and the various antennas. Also on the spacious flybridge is a built-in outdoor cooking area with barbecue, sink, ice maker, refrigerator, and storage, perfect for a relaxing evening of grilling and lounging.

The interior lower helm with excellent visibility is great for running the boat in lousy weather. The helm console has plenty of room for all the electronics. Forward of the helm is the spacious salon with plenty of seating and unhindered panoramic views. The open and connected galley is on the port side and has counter space on both sides and features a three-burner Princess stove, a microwave/ convection oven, a Nova Kool refrigerator/ freezer, and double stainless steel sinks.

Excellent visibility, great ventilation and brightness creates an inside space you can truly live in. Ease of movement from flybridge to cockpit to foredeck is achieved by purposeful, safe design found through out the PDQ 41. It's no wonder that these boats are seldom on the used market and hold their value exceptionally well.

Designed by Alan Slater, the PDQ 36 Capella is a well-built nimble-sailing cruising cat designed for families and not for charter companies. Overall, 100 PDQ were built , making it one of the most successful cruising catamarans manufactured in North America. The PDQ 36 Capella is handsome in profile, partially due to clever styling with a cove stripe and portlights on the cabin trunk deflecting your eye from the high freeboard that is a feature of most cruising cats. The hulls are solid fiberglass below the waterline and cored with Klegacell foam above. The decks are also foam-cored, except in areas where high-load fittings are attached. Those areas are solid fiberglass. Her fixed keels make a great deal of sense and the rudders are foil shaped.

The interior plan is one of PDQ most appealing features. She has a practical arrangement that is well suited for extended cruising. Her saloon features a large Cherry folding table with comfortable wraparound settees and unobstructed visibility. Three steps carry you down into each hull. The starboard side features a full-sized chart table amidships and a large molded head compartment with a separate shower aft. The port hull houses the galley, which includes a two-burner stove and oven, double sinks and a generous amount of counter space. Aft to port is a cabin that is designed as a galley pantry and storage room. Her two double sleeping cabins are forward, side-by-side on the bridge-deck. These spacious cabins include queen berths with overhead deck hatches and large hanging lockers. Her head is extremely spacious and has a glass-doored, separate shower. Her overall interior finish truly is practical and very beautiful.

PDQ's are known for their construction quality, with solid fiberglass below the waterline, and above the waterline and all decks fiberglass cored with Klegacell or Corecell foam except in areas where high-load fittings are attached which those areas are solid fiberglass. All fiberglass is the finest quality tri-axial knitted fabric and vinylester resin that is vacuum bagged with vacuum assisted injection, reinforced in high stressed areas. Designed by Alan Slater, the PDQ 36 Capella is a well-built nimble-sailing cruising cat designed for families and not for charter companies. Overall, 100 PDQ were built , making it one of the most successful cruising catamarans manufactured in North America. The PDQ 36 Capella is handsome in profile, partially due to clever styling with a cove stripe and portlights on the cabin trunk deflecting your eye from the high freeboard that is a feature of most cruising cats. The hulls are solid fiberglass below the waterline and cored with Klegacell foam above. The decks are also foam-cored, except in areas where high-load fittings are attached. Those areas are solid fiberglass. Her fixed keels make a great deal of sense and the rudders are foil shaped.

There are some 34-foot PDQs that used the same tooling with steps molded in instead of swim platforms glassed on.
