Description

The Yacht-Master, introduced by Rolex in 1992 in a gold case, was the first all-new watch from the brand since the Daytona in the 1960s. The watch was designed for adventurers and sportsmen—the topside equivalent to the diver's Submariner, to which it bears a strong similarity, though with more of a luxury than a tool watch feel. By 1999 it had become one of the most highly sought and desirable models in the Rolex stable after the introduction of a platinum version, though it wasn't until 2005 that the Rolesor reference 16623 arrived. Rolesor is the brand's term for two-tone watches that use both steel and gold, which this one does so in serious style. Like all Yacht-Masters, the bezel is made of a single block of solid gold.

This Rolex Yacht-Master 16623 has a white dial and a bracelet strap. This Rolex has undergone a thorough inspection of water resistance, accuracy, functionality and condition to determine the level of reconditioning required to meet our strict standards. It has also been referenced against technical documents and manufacturer records where available to ensure authenticity and a clean history. All our watches have a 24-month warranty for your peace of mind. One of our skilled polishing technicians has removed marks on the case and bracelet of this watch, brought about by daily wear and tear, which is why this watch does not come with the remaining manufacturer’s warranty.

II. Design and Aesthetics

Iconic datejust design elements.

The Rolex Datejust ref. 16233 embodies the quintessential design elements that define the Datejust collection. The fluted bezel, another hallmark of Rolex design, adds a touch of refinement to the watch’s aesthetic. Complementing these elements is the classic Jubilee bracelet, characterized by its five-piece links, contributing not only to the watch’s aesthetics but also ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist. The harmonious integration of these design elements solidifies the ref. 16233’s status as an iconic Rolex timepiece.

Two-Tone Elegance

One of the distinctive features of the Datejust ref. 16233 is its two-tone construction, seamlessly blending stainless steel with 18k gold. The marriage of these materials extends beyond mere aesthetics, adding a layer of elegance and versatility to the watch. The warm tones of gold, coupled with the coolness of stainless steel, create a balanced visual appeal. The fluted bezel, crafted in gold, not only contributes to the watch’s aesthetics but also symbolizes Rolex’s commitment to using precious materials, further elevating the overall elegance of the timepiece.

Rolex 16233 History

Rolex 16233

The Rolex Datejust series boasts a deep history that stretches back to its inception in 1945, when it was heralded as the first self-winding wristwatch equipped with a date display feature. The timepiece has undergone numerous transformations throughout Rolex Datejust's history , introducing new materials, movements, and aesthetic features, yet it has always preserved its fundamental qualities of sophistication and utility. Among the Datejust models, the Rolex Datejust 16233 emerged as a leading example in the late 1980s.

This specific model is distinguished by its captivating two-tone design, which merges stainless steel with 18k yellow gold, establishing it as a signature feature of the Datejust series. The appeal of this two-tone design is rooted in its adaptability and aesthetic charm. By harmonizing the durability of stainless steel with the opulence of gold, the Datejust 16233 achieves an ideal mixture of style and functionality.

The Datejust 16233 has proven its durability, continuing to be a highly coveted piece in the secondary luxury watch market. Its lasting popularity serves as a reflection of Rolex's dedication to excellence shines through in timepieces that blend exceptional performance with timeless beauty. This distinctive blend has garnered a loyal following among watch connoisseurs who value both design and functionality.

Key Features of The Rolex Datejust 16233

Rolex 16233

The Rolex Datejust 16233 is an excellent luxury watch, presenting a multitude of outstanding characteristics that contribute to its overall charm. From its durable case components to its accurate movement, every aspect of this timepiece has been meticulously designed to guarantee peak performance and outstanding visual appeal. Let's delve deeper into the critical attributes that distinguish the Datejust 16233.

Case Materials

The Datejust 16233 is equipped with a 36mm case made from a blend of stainless steel and 18k yellow gold, more commonly known as a two-tone design. This combination of materials provides both durability and a luxurious look, rendering the watch appropriate for daily use while maintaining its high level of prestige.

The stainless steel used in the case is of the utmost quality, ensuring it is highly resistant to corrosion and scratches. The 18k yellow gold elements, featured on the crown and bezel, add a touch of sophistication and refinement to the design, elevating the watch's overall visual appeal.

A standout feature of the Datejust 16233 is its 18k yellow gold, fluted bezel. With a series of detailed grooves that catch the light in a captivating manner, the bezel produces a stunning visual effect.

The fluted bezel not only adds to the watch's aesthetic appeal, but it also serves a functional purpose as it provides better grip for adjusting the date. Overall, the fluted design simplifies the process of fine-tuning the watch's functions.

At its core, the Datejust 16233 features the caliber 3135 automatic movement . This self-winding movement is renowned for its exceptional accuracy and dependability, having undergone thorough testing to ensure it performs optimally. Rolex 16233 Price

Rolex 16233

When thinking about buying a Rolex Datejust 16233, it's crucial to grasp its price and value in the market. As a highly sought-after model, the Datejust 16233 commands a premium price, reflecting its exceptional quality in terms of craftsmanship, materials, and the prestige of the Rolex brand. While Rolex Datejust prices can vary widely across different models and configurations, the typical cost for a new Rolex Datejust 16233 can range from $12,000 to $15,000, with the final price tag ultimately depending on the specific features chosen, such as the dial color and the type of bracelet.

The popularity of this model, coupled with its limited production, can make it difficult to obtain a new Datejust 16233. Consequently, many watch enthusiasts look to the pre-owned market to secure their desired timepiece. In the pre-owned luxury watch market, the Rolex Datejust 16233 is considered a reliable investment, with prices ranging from $7,000 to $12,000, with the price heavily depending on the condition of the watch and current market conditions.

When comparing the Datejust 16233 to other Rolex models and similar watches from other brands, this model stands out for its blend of style, functionality, and affordability within the spectrum of Rolex Datejust prices. Its two-tone design distinguishes it from full stainless-steel models, which typically cost between $5,000 and $8,000. Its more accessible price point also makes it an appealing option compared to solid gold watches that can cost well over $30,000. The Datejust 16233's adaptability and lasting appeal make it a smart choice for both new buyers and experienced watch collectors.
