Two super luxury yachts, Attessa IV and Cloudbreak, have been anchored in Puerto Vallarta since the beginning of the year. Valued at $250 million and $150 million, respectively, these yachts have been a regular sight in the marina for several years. The owner of Attessa IV is the U.S. entrepreneur Dennis Washington, ranked 83rd among the world’s richest by Forbes with a fortune of $6 billion. The yacht offers amenities like a gym, spa, massage room, luxurious cabins for 28 guests, and a helipad.

Attessa IV arrived in Puerto Vallarta a few weeks ago, and while its departure date is uncertain, it typically sets sail at the end of January or early February, as observed in previous years. This award-winning yacht, honored as the best luxury vessel at the 2011 World Superyacht Awards, stands out for its design and the onboard helicopter, allowing passengers to reach remote beaches or land locations.

Originally named Evergreen, the yacht was built in 1999 for Taiwanese shipping magnate Chang Yung-fa and later purchased by current owner Dennis Washington in 2007. The Cloudbreak, another superyacht in Puerto Vallarta, is a 72.5-meter vessel built in 2016, known for its sophisticated design by luxury yacht architect Espen Øino and interiors by Parisian designer Christian Liaigre. It features high-tech amenities, a helideck, a large fireplace, and claims to have the world’s biggest toy chest.

As it is remembered, for several years now, two super luxury yachts arrive every winter at the facilities of the maritime terminal from the beginning of the year, these are the vessels Attessa IV and Attessa V, valued at $250 million and $150 million, respectively.

According to various versions of social and finance magazines, the owner of the vessels is the American businessman Dennis Washington who has a fortune valued at 6 billion dollars, which places him in the 83rd place of the 100 richest men in the world according to Forbes magazine, who enjoys a few days of vacation in this region.

The yachts are considered as mini-cruises, as they are equipped with gym, spa, massage room, luxury cabins for 28 guests and 21 crew members and what attracts the most attention in the case of Attessa IV: a platform with helicopter on board.

The luxurious vessels arrived in Puerto Vallarta a few weeks ago, after having visited other ports in the world. It is still unknown how much longer it will stay at pier 2 of the maritime terminal, but according to what was observed in other years it usually sets sail in early February.

It should be added that this yacht, one of the most luxurious in the world, was awarded in 2011 at the World Superyacht Awards as the best luxury vessel in the world.

This draws attention for its design and for the helicopter that is part of its equipment, so that passengers can reach almost any hidden beach or place on land where it is possible to land.

Super Yachts Visit Puerto Vallarta’s Port

Puerto Vallarta is a world class destination and has always lured international celebrities from different scenes, who come here to enjoy a destination with a true Mexican taste. Recently, Puerto Vallarta has played host to two magnificent private yachts, whose dimensions and beauty can’t go unnoticed to anyone going by the port. They are without any doubt the largest visitors we have had in recent years.

The fabulous super yacht Cloudbreak is an explorer yacht 73.5 meters in length. It was built in 2016 by the German firm Abeking and Rasmussen. Its military style design is a creation byluxury yacht architect Espen Øino, and the subtly elegant interiors were created by Parisian interior designer Christina Liaigre.

Cloudbreak enjoys a commercially certified helipad, an expansive gym and spa, and its 7 cabins can accommodate up to 12 guests. It has also quarters for the 22-member crew.

If you wish to travel aboard the Cloudbreak, it is offered by SuperYachts Monaco at €750,000 per week.

Our second visitor is the super yacht Atessa IV, a gigantic yacht at 100 m in length, the recipient of the 2011 World Superyacht Award.

In addition to all the luxury it encloses, it is also the protagonist of a very interesting story. Its current owner is not only a lover of luxury yachts, he also likes to rebuild them, as opposed to acquiring new custom ones. It took three and a half years to completely rebuild the Atessa IV, under designers Glade  Johnson and the owner’s wife, Phyllis Washington, as well a naval architect Gregory K Marshall.

The reborn Atessa IV sports 2,322 sq m of interior spaces, with capacity for 36 guests and a crew of 21 members.

It enjoys two spas, a huge spa pool and a hanging glass sculpture by artist Dale Chihuly. It also has a helipad and a tender garage. Celebrities such as Bill Gates, who took a family vacation to Belize in 2012, have been spotted aboard the Atessa IV.

I'm not sure if this ticks all the boxes, but check out Buenaventura Grand. We stayed next door last year and thought that it seemed quite lively over there during the day. There was at least one big group of what appeared to be late high school aged kids with some parents trickled in. They were having a fabulous time. There was music in the pool/beach area and a daily volleyball game taking place.

I don't think this exists in PV. Maybe in Nuevo or Punta de Mta. Hard Rock, Iberostar Playa Mita or Dreams Bahia Mita may work. Otherwise, if the RV didn't work, then I'm not sure it does.

Yes hard rock is close and so is Dreams Bahia but just don’t have much for suite options and so dang pricey…

They are! HoweverDreams you can get connecting rooms, just have to work with them on that. I think Iberostar might work and they for sure have connecting family rooms and would probably come in less. I had a group of 100 that I went on with all ages and everyone was very happy.

I would check out Iberostar playa mita. BEAUTIFUL beach and a lot of fun. Not sure on the multiple family rooms but most Iberostars do have them. Its way out in Punta Mita but if youre not planning on going into PV its a great choice.

Hard Rock or RIU in Nuevo.

#7 - I've been reading up on the Iberostar as much as possible and it looks like they can get you a two bedroom connecting room, but late night looks pretty limited because the Disco is 18 plus.

#8 - I love the hard rock but their family rooms are so expensive... I've just returned from the Riu and it doesn't hit the nighttime activities we want - it's close but outside of the Friday night party at the Jalisco there wasn't much for the 17 year olds to do at night (can't get in the disco).

The Grand Palladium had a lot going on at night when we were there but the rest of the hotel just isn't great.

30 days – 100% refund

15 days – change of date applicable

7 days – 75% deposit lost, changes applicable with $250 USD penalty 

In case of extreme weather or port closure. Full refund. 

In case of undesirable weather, we can change the day or the hour of departure to avoid the weather if you cannot change, a 50% deposit is lost.
