PI Yacht – State-of-the-art $120M Superyacht

The PI yacht, formerly Syzygy 818, is a 77.3-meter luxury motor yacht built in 2019 by the Dutch shipyard Feadship. She is a magnificent motorboat constructed with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. 

As a truly bespoke luxury yacht, PI yacht has been customized with cutting-edge glass technology from a computer-aided 3D design. Previously named Syzygy 818, she is considered lucky according to Chinese numerology. 

She was also named after the former owner’s birthday, which is on August 18th. Hence, the number was included in the official name of the superyacht. 

“Syzygy,” the second part of her name, is an astrological word that refers to the uncommon occasion when three celestial bodies line up exactly in the skies, as occurs during a lunar eclipse or new moon, among other things.

The PI yacht is on the cusp of perfection with exceptional construction quality paired with outstanding design and innovation. 

Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design created the yacht’s exquisite Zen-inspired interiors, and her naval architecture was penned by De Voogt Naval Architects .

One of her greatest highlights is the installation of floor-to-ceiling windows without mullions, which fulfills the proprietor’s vision of the main saloon that is genuinely in harmony with the exterior. 

Throughout, timeless style, exquisite furniture, and plush seats contribute to the creation of her elegant and pleasant ambiance.

Specifications

The PI yacht is built with an 11.20m beam, a 3.30 m draft, and spacious teak decks. She travels easily with a range of 16 knots and achieves a top speed of 18 knots thanks to her dual MTU (16V 4000 M63) 16-cylinder 2,700hp engines operating at 1800rpm. 

Additionally, her water tanks have a capacity of about 33,168 L of freshwater. This unique full displacement yacht has “at anchor” stabilizers that operate at zero speed, enhancing board comfort whether at anchor or in rough water. 

She was constructed following Lloyds Register classification society standards.

Accommodation

The PI yacht’s six suites comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests. Moreover, she can accommodate up to 18 crew members, which guarantees a relaxing yacht experience.

The yacht features three double guest staterooms, one double owner’s suite, and one convertible owner’s suite.

As for the crew members, they are housed in six twin rooms, two twin officer cabins, one single officer cabin, and one captain’s cabin. 

The outstanding leisure and entertainment amenities aboard PI make her the perfect yacht for socializing and entertaining family and friends.

This includes a beach club, Helipad (Touch-n-go), swimming platform, swimming pool, and tender garage. 

The vessel’s external lines are notable for their innovative use of double-curvature structural glass. 

Jarko Jammsen designed the vessel as his first superyacht project, which features four decks ideally made for patrons’ rest and recreation. 

The main deck aft is spacious, and may be configured for an informal setting, outdoor dining, or extensive sunbathing. 

There is also an expansive upper deck aft with side walkways connecting to the flush foredeck. The sundeck above provides the greatest vantage point on board for seeing the surrounding area.

This luxury superyacht is worth $120 million with an annual cost of US$ 5 – 12 million

Jarkko Jämsén, co-founder of Aivan, was invited to create the concept, interior layout and exterior design for a superyacht. In close collaboration with the owner client, he and the other team members created a totally unique vessel from scratch that is custom-made down to every detail.

Pi – originally Syzygy 818 – is a 77.25m motor yacht. The vessel’s top speed is 18.4kn and is powered by two MTU diesel engines. Pi can accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 staterooms, with 18 crew members. Pi has a gross tonnage of 1592.0GT and a 11.0m beam. The interior of the yacht was designed by Sinot.

Pi was built at Feadship – Royal Dutch Shipyards in the Netherlands. Feadship is a cooperative venture between two shipyards Royal Van Lent Shipyard and Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw. Feadship designs and constructs high-end luxury yachts and is one of the leading builders of custom superyachts.

Added to the fact that the Owner's birthday is on August the 18th and the number was added to the superyacht's official name. The other half of her name, 'Syzygy', is a term in astrology for the rare event when three heavenly bodies line up perfectly in the heavens, in such events as a lunar eclipse or new moon.

As a pure custom luxury yacht, PI has been personalised for her Owner and has top-of-the-line glass technology to create the curvaceous superstructure from the computerised 3D design. The Owner also had sustainability goals that needed to be met, and to reach these the electronics and engineering had to provide excellent fuel efficiency.

From the lower deck swim platform guests have access to the stern interior as well as the main deck aft. In addition to the spacious main deck aft, which can be laid out for casual lounging or alfresco dining, there is a spacious upper deck aft with side walk ways that connect around to the flush foredeck. The sundeck above has the best views on board for observation of the surroundings.

Pi Super Yacht’s Dragonship 25 , an 82-foot trimaran concept that is nearly ready to enter production, was conceived to be an entirely emissions-free boat powered entirely by the sun and sea.

“We looked at many initial designs,” says Will O’Hara, CEO of Pi Super Yachts in the United Kingdom. “Ultimately, we decided to go with traditional, timeless styling for the yacht, while encasing the latest technologies inside of it.”

They include solar panels that are connected to the sail and hydrogenesis technology that draws energy from the ocean. “Basically, it takes seawater that has absorbed carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and, through a patented extraction process, filters monatomic hydrogen (H1) from the seawater in a sufficient volume to run a large fuel cell of 100 kWh constantly,” explains O’Hara. In other words, the process siphons the hydrogen from the water and runs it into fuel cells to power the boat. Solar power also provides constant battery power.

The result is a luxury yacht with comforts like air-conditioning and hot tubs, but without the need for vast reservoirs of diesel or gasoline to run the engines and generators. The trimaran design from Gillian Gray Naval Architects also delivers a gigantic 3,100-square- foot interior, with a generous master suite located on the center hull. Pi will customize the interior for the owners. The Dragonship 25 will have five staterooms for the owners and eight guests, and crew quarters for four—notable numbers for an 82-foot yacht.

Its most noteworthy feature is the Autosail rig, a wing sail that will work in synch with prevailing wind conditions, so that sailing is simplified. “All sail handling is fully automated,” says Jack Manners-Spencer, who has been designing wing sails since the late 1980s. “The airfoil-shaped battens, like formers on an aircraft wing, fit snugly around the mast, so that the sail and mast rotate together without any twist. It’s a very efficient design.” Under control of an automatic sail pilot, a DC motor rotates the mast to trim the sail for best performance.

Manners-Spencer, a former RAF pilot who flew Vulcan delta-wing bombers from 1964 through 1970, had been designing rectangular wing sails for about 15 years through the 1990s. It then occurred to him that the elliptical wing shape of the famed World War II fighter plane, the Spitfire, could also be used for sailing, “The Spitfire wing provided superior performance over the German fighters in WWII due to its significantly better lift/drag ratio,” he says. “The same effect is produced in a wing sail, especially when sailing close-hauled.” The elliptical shape of the Autosail is also much more graceful-looking than the mainsail on a typical sailboat.

O’Hara says that Pi Super Yachts is in the final stages of funding for the production of the Dragonship 25, which he expects to be completed in 2016. The company has also created plans for a 263-foot trimaran called the Dragonship 80 , a three-masted vessel that features the Autosail and hydrogenesis systems, as well as a folding-wing keel that narrows its width for entering ports. Interiors of seventh Amels 60 designed to emanate "beach house luxury" according to designers

Dutch yard Amels , a part of Damen Yachting , has released the first interior renderings of its seventh Amels 60. The yacht is for sale and last hit the headlines when it was transported to Vlissingen, in the Netherlands, for outfitting in February 2024. Delivery is scheduled for spring 2025.

This unit marks the shipyard's first collaboration with British interior design studio Harrison Eidsgaard .

"This interior is undeniably contemporary, a home away from home with a sophisticated take on beach house luxury," explained designer Ben Harrison. "We're concentrated on the details and how they are executed, and that's where you really see the difference between top brands like Amels, and other shipyards."

The proposed interiors incorporate stainless steel, bronze, fluted details and natural oak on the floor and overheads.  According to the shipyard, the proposal provides flexibility to any owner stepping in late to the build process, allowing them to add their own finishing touches. Accommodation will be for up to 12 guests and 12 crew, not including the captain.

The Amels 60's distinctive look, characterised by geometric windows, is designed by Espen Øino . Damen Yachting is responsible for the series' naval architecture.

According to BOATPro , Amels has 11 yachts currently on order or under construction. This includes the 120-metre Project Tanzanite , which will become the largest Dutch-built motor yacht in the world once delivered.

The news follows the delivery of Satemi , the fourth hull in the Amels 60 series.
