Since 2013, Below Deck has been captivating TV audiences across the globe by offering a voyeuristic peek into life on board multi-million dollar luxury charter yachts . Taking readers behind the scenes, YachtCharterFleet identifies the yachts featured on the show, as well as those which have appeared on the celebrated spin-off series Below Deck: Mediterranean , Below Deck: Sailing , Below Deck: Down Under and the latest iteration, Below Deck: Adventure .

Bravo’s hit reality TV series Below Deck chronicles the lives of crew members who work and reside aboard a luxury yacht during the charter season.

Each season features a different crew configuration, and the episodes show how the crew members interact and deal with personal issues alongside their working lives. The seasons are filmed over six weeks, with every episode featuring a new group of charter guests.

Getting even closer to these Below Deck superstars, we take a look at each of the stand-out features of every yacht that has appeared on the show.

Below Deck (US)

Many crew members are recurring on the show;  the longest-standing is Captain Lee Rosbach, who been on the show since 2013. A fan favourite, he has been at the helm of every yacht on Below Deck and seen a number of different crew formations.

The latest Below Deck season 10 is rumoured to be his final swan song, although his legacy on the show is such that whoever replaces him will have very big shoes to fill.

Among the crew members, Chief Stewardess Kate Chastain was an integral member of the team from season two to season seven. Alongside her, Chef Ben Robinson was a permanent fixture of the crew from season one to season four, before stepping out for season five.

Throughout the course of the show, the yachts have played an important role.

Hiring a Below Deck yacht will cost from €140,000 per week - and that price doesn't include expenses such as fuel. While some of the yachts were given an alias over the course of filming, their real names can now be revealed below; as well as the exact cost to rent them.

The largest yacht in the show's history, the 10th and 11th seasons of Below Deck  are set around the Caribbean islands of St Lucia  and Grenada onboard the luxurious 60m (197ft) superyacht ST DAVID . Delivered in 2008 by Italian shipyard Benetti, the yacht has an impressive sleek, supercar-inspired profile that instantly turns heads.

Onboard highlights include her well-appointed sundeck with sunloungers and sunpads where guests can kick back and relax, a spa pool and her al fresco cinema screen set up for unforgettable movie nights.

One of the yacht's most distinctive features is her sophisticated spiral staircase that leads through all three decks and is lit by a skylight in the spa pool of the sun deck. The yacht is very versatile for a variety of charter party configurations, with room for 12 guests across six elegantly appointed cabins.

Making an appearance on seasons 9, 8 and 6 of Below Deck , the majestic motor yacht STARSHIP (known on the show as MY SEANNA) is a yacht charter favorite.

The yacht has traveled far and wide for the show cruising to the jaw-droppingly beautiful St Kitts and Nevis in season 9, the sun-kissed Caribbean in season 8 and the  South Pacific  islands of  Tahiti in season 6.

Known for being among one of the most opulent yachts on the charter market due to her ornate interiors and glossy fittings that have been brushed in 22-carat gold, it is safe to say that this yacht is one of the most opulently styled and extensively equipped yachts on the water. Refitted in 2021, the Delta Marine yacht can accommodate 12 guests across 6 cabins and is extremely versatile for a variety of yacht charter party configurations.

The yacht traveled around Thailand in Season 7  where the crew and viewers were treated to a truly memorable South East Asian experience. From the iconic Phi Phi Islands to the beautiful beaches of Ko Yao Yai, there were plenty of fascinating landmarks to see on the way. Season 5 took viewers to the tranquil cruising grounds of  Saint Martin whilst season 4 saw M/Y BG in the glistening waters of the  Virgin Islands .

Accomodating 12 guests across 6 cabins, she is also capable of carrying up to 10 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

IONIAN PRINCESS

Ionain Princess season 1 Below Deck Mediterranean

Premiering on 3 May 2016, the very first season of Below Deck: Mediterranean , a spin-off of the increasingly popular franchise, took to viewers' screens. This time the ‘yachties’ took care of their guests onboard the motor yacht IONIAN PRINCESS  in the Mediterranean  destination of Greece .

The starring yacht IONIAN PRINCESS was delivered from Christensen in 2005 and was later refit in 2016 and again in 2021. Truly opulent, she bears interiors that are sleekly finished with a range of warmly toned woods and plenty of comfortable furnishings. She also boasts one of the largest sundecks for a yacht of her size.

Below Deck: Mediterranean Season 1 yacht IONIAN PRINCESS is not currently available for private yacht charter vacations.

Below Deck: Sailing Yacht

This is the first time the Below Deck franchise branched away from gleaming motor yachts, with the various weather issues that sailing yachts have to contend with adding even more drama and excitement.

The design of luxury sailing yachts  also creates far more confined crew areas than we are used to seeing on the original Below Deck . In general, sailing yachts tend to feature smaller galleys, compact stew stations and cramped crew quarters which are in closer proximity to the guests’ living areas, putting crew under increased pressure to deliver their signature silver service.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3

In addition, deck crew are placed in a far more demanding role, with sailing yachts requiring increased accuracy and precision to safely maneuver and plenty of deck duties taking place in the midst of guest areas.

PARSIFAL III

Sailing yacht on Below Deck

Season 2 was set around the glistening waters of Croatia and in  Season 3 of Below Deck Sailing , M/Y PARSIFAL III came back to where she traditionally charters in the beautiful Balearic island of Menorca . For the latest Below Deck: Sailing Yacht season she ventured around the glittering coastline of Sardinia .

The yacht can comfortably charter up to 12 guests across 5 luxurious cabins with a layout comprising a master suite, two double cabins and two twin cabins.

How much does it cost to charter Home? All about 'Below Deck Med' Season 7's new luxury superyacht

'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 7 is going to be like no other seasons we have seen before. Aside from the usual crew drama, and erratic guest demands, get ready to watch Captain Sandy Yawn tackle a 163-foot motor yacht "Home" for the first time on the pristine waters of Malta.

Home, which will be the first diesel-electric motor yacht to be featured on 'Below Deck' franchise has been described as "a complex hybrid vessel" by Bravo. This "complex hybrid vessel" definitely stands up to its description as the trailer reveals Captain Sandy complaining about hitting the vessel against something for the first time in her career, and in another scene we see a crash being teased. But putting these mishaps aside, like all the other yachts featured in the Bravo franchise , Home, is no different when it comes to boasting high-end technology and amenities, that will leave the guests in awe during their luxury vacation. If you're curious to know how much it costs to charter Home, then we got you covered.

How much does it cost to charter 'Below Deck Med's luxury yacht Home?

It should come as no surprise that the cost of chartering the luxury superyacht is pretty steep. According to Boat International , the cost of chartering Home ranges from $245,000 to $273,000 per week. The luxury superyacht is also listed for sale at an asking price of  €29,500,000, which Bustle estimated at just over $30.8 million. According to the listing, Home was built by the Dutch shipyard- Heesen in 2017.

The motor yacht can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in its six cabins. The interiors feature a simple yet contemporary Ibiza-style decor that was designed by Cristiano Gatto. Some of the amenities aboard Home include a large sun deck, jacuzzi, swim platform, air-conditioned gym, and sky lounge.

Who owns 'Below Deck Med's luxury yacht Home?

According to SuperYachtFan , Home is owned by Harald McPike. The yacht is legally owned by a company named New Life Ltd. New Life is also the name of his previous yacht: a 28 meters Lazarra 92 LSX. He used to live on board this yacht, before buying the Heesen Home. The 50-metre Home was built by Dutch shipyard Heesen in 2017 as a 'home away from home' for her owner.

His net worth has been estimated to be around $1 billion.

New Below Deck Med yacht HOME layout map and video tours

Below Deck Med super yacht Home

On the season premiere of Below Deck: Mediterranean Season 7, viewers are introduced to the crew that will be hosting the next few months of high seas drama on Bravo. It would be difficult to single out the sexiest new cast member this season, but it may just be the super-fine 50 meters of hybrid yacht hotness that is the M/Y Home!

The elegant Heesen superyacht was built in 2017 and was the Dutch shipbuilder’s first to be equipped with hybrid propulsion. “In this case ‘Hybrid’ means that the yacht can draw on two sources of power for propulsion: diesel mechanical and diesel electrical,” Heesen explains in their promotional brochure for Home . “Either or both sources can be used at the same time. This provides less noise and vibration, a more flexible power management which means better efficiency.”

Home measures 49.8 meters (163 feet, 4 inches) and has an overall beam of 9.1 meters (29 feet, 10 inches). It’s lightweight aluminum hull helps Home achieve a gross tonnage just under 500. Its max speed with a half load is 16.3 knots with diesel direct and 9 knots with diesel electric.

Moving on to the stats that are more relevant to casual Below Deck viewers, Home has accommodations for 9 crew members and 12 guests. There is a full-beam owner’s stateroom for Captain Sandy, one full-beam VIP guest suite, two double guest suites, and two twin guest suites.

Superyacht Home floor plan

I’m an avid Below Deck fan and I don’t feel like I ever have a very clear understanding of the layout on the boats featured on the various shows. To help myself (and other fans) during Below Deck Med Season 7, I’ve put together a map of the layout of M/Y Home that should help you imagine the 3D landscape in which all of the drama plays out.

I’ve color coded the different levels, starting with the sun deck (green) at the top and working down through the wheelhouse (pink), main deck (yellow) and lower deck (grey).

Below Deck Med Yacht HOME floor plan layout map

Here are individual images for the lower three levels arranged vertically for easier viewing on mobile devices:

Super yacht Home layout

You will notice that the crew resides in the lower deck at the front (bow) of the boat. There are four small cabins, four bathrooms, and eight twin bunk beds. The crew mess is right next to the cabins in the lower deck.

The captain’s quarters is located on the wheelhouse level and has a door that opens directly into the bridge.

The charter guest master suite is located on the main deck. I was surprised to see that the Home’s galley (kitchen) is right on the other side of the wall from the master suite bathroom.

One question I have after checking out the Home layout is where the engineer(s) sleeps? Also, I thought production takes a room to set up their equipment? The chef, three stews, and four deck crew members take up all eight crew bunks, right? If I figure out answers to these questions I will update this post for clarification.

How Much Does It Cost To Rent The Yachts On Below Deck?

Below Deck stars Kate Chastain and Captain Lee Rosbach

Watching Bravo's  Below Deck , it's kind of impossible not to fantasize about renting one of the featured luxury yachts for yourself. For most of us regular folks, the idea of lounging around having every need tended to by a crew of hot, young twentysomethings is an experience we're only going to get watching this particular show (and its drama-filled spin-off,  Below Deck Mediterranean , of course).

Still, it's fun to dream. And if our funds ever permit us to, the first stop would be one of these huge boats replete with gold bathroom fixtures, luxuriously expansive guest cabins, and Michelin-star service. So, how much exactly would that set you back?

The Below Deck yachts do not come cheap

According to  Worldwide Boat,  the cheapest you can rent one of the featured yachts (the Ohana, from season 2) is $140,000 per week. The rest range in price all the way up to a whopping €231,000 (around $256,000 per week) for the Talisman Maiton, which was featured on  Below Deck Med  season 3.

According to  Yacht Charter Fleet , the smaller super-yachts, including the  Ionian Princess , the  Valor , and the  Sirocco , rent for approximately $154,000 to $199,500 per week, depending on the season and the boat. The good news, though, is the Ohana is $140,000 per week at any time of year, so it's something of a bargain compared to the others.

As for the mid-range yachts, the  Eros  is currently not available for rent, nor is the recently-redone  Honor . The biggest super-yachts, meanwhile, are  way  out of seemingly anybody's price range. The aforementioned Talisman Maiton goes for the same massive fee no matter the time of year, while  My Seanna , at 185 feet, is $294,000 a week in the winter and $315,500 a week in summer.

Appearing on Below Deck might save you some money

Those looking to appear on  Below Deck  might get a discount as, according to  The Forward Cabin , charter guests who feature only pay around $11,000 each for the privilege, and that includes airfare, hotels, and more. The charters are shorter, however, clocking in at just a few days each according to  Worldwide Boat .

It's still a massive discount considering the show's own Kate Chastain told  ET ,  "Generally a boat that size, 150 foot — this one's 160, Valor — but around that price range, for seven days, is around $150,000. But that does not include airfare, fuel, food, wine, docking, tip. So, I would say for a boat like Valor, for a week vacation, it would be around a quarter of a million dollars."

If you're more interested in owning rather than renting a yacht, be forewarned;  Denison Yachting  advises it'll cost around $4.75 million annually for a 180-foot vessel, including around $400,00 for fuel, $350,000 for dockage, $240,000 for vessel insurance, $1 million for maintenance and repairs, and $1.4 million for crew salaries.

They're definitely pricey, but the Below Deck yachts are worth it

Chartering a luxury yacht, particularly one featured on Below Deck, costs so much for one major reason: You're getting a first class experience. As noted by Worldwide Boat , the expert crews working these boats are the best of the best (despite what the hit show and its spin-off, may lead us to believe), and the amenities boasted by each truly have to be seen to be believed. Put simply, this is a once in a lifetime vacation.

Take the Ionian Princess, which boasts a sun deck featuring a Jacuzzi and breathtaking views. The gorgeous boat, originally built in 2005, also includes luxury accommodations across six cabins for up to 12 guests. Likewise, the Dutch-built Sirocco, which was made in 2006, also features a sun deck but it's equipped with a gym, making it even more special. Elsewhere on-board there's an alfresco party deck, theater, and plenty of other amenities for fun both on and off the water.

The yachts featured on Below Deck are basically floating luxury hotels

The mighty Talisman Maiton, meanwhile, fittingly named for a stunning Thai island, is a superb, tri-deck yacht. Although it accommodates 12 guests total, the boat also features a master suite and a VIP stateroom, so exclusivity is key. It was refit in 2016 (the yacht was originally built in 2006) and now features a glorious sun deck and spa pool complete with a bar, gym, and an all-important observation deck with panoramic views.

The  huge My Seanna also boasts a master suite and VIP stateroom, as well as a chic beach club, fittings brushed in 22 carat gold, a sundeck sauna and gym, helipad, and even an outdoor movie theater. Act quickly and you might just get a discount on it, as  Yacht Charter Fleet  previously advertised that the first three charters to the Bahamas this past summer were subject to an insane 35 percent price reduction.

Chartering a  Below Deck  yacht is something most of us will only ever dream of doing, but it's not hard to understand why those who have the cash choose to splash out for the privilege.

When you understand the various factors that can affect the price, you can better prepare yourself for the expense and find the best option according to your preferences and budget.

Size and Style of the Yacht : Larger yachts with more luxurious amenities and features will generally be more expensive than smaller or simpler vessels. For example, a 34 to 35-foot boat might rent for about €2,000 per week, whereas a 40-footer might rent for €3,200 per week for the same dates.

Season and Availability : Peak seasons, such as the summer months in the Mediterranean or the winter months in the Caribbean, may see increased demand and higher prices than off-season dates. Booking well in advance can help secure better rates and ensure availability.

Crew and Additional Services : A fully crewed charter with a luxury private villa or hotel room may cost around $30,000, including meals, transport, and activities. However, some charters require you to pay for these expenses separately, so it's essential to check what's included beforehand.

Location : Depending on the yacht and where you plan to sail, the charter cost may vary due to regional pricing differences and local taxes or fees. For instance, a yacht charter in the Mediterranean may have different costs than one in the Caribbean or Southeast Asia.

below deck mediterranean home yacht cost

These costs may vary depending on the yacht you choose.

Fuel Consumption : The amount you'll spend on fuel is highly dependent on factors like the distance you travel, the yacht's fuel efficiency, and the price of diesel at the time of your charter. Keep in mind that the longer you cruise, the greater the cost of fuel.

Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) : The APA is used to cover expenses like food, beverages, port fees, and other costs that may arise during the charter. Typically, guests can accumulate an additional 25% to 50% of the base charter fee through the APA, depending on what is consumed. Remember to budget accordingly for these expenses.

Crew Gratuity : It's customary to tip the yacht's crew at the end of your charter. Tips are usually around 15% to 20% of the total real cost of the charter. This is an important aspect to keep in mind while planning your trip, as it directly impacts the crew's income.

below deck mediterranean home yacht cost

Finding the Right Yacht : To start planning your dream yacht vacation, first browse through the available yachts featured on Below Deck, such as St. David, Honor or Lumiere, Ohana or Rhino, Eros or Stay Salty, Valor or BG, My Seanna or Starship, Parsifal III, Mercury, Thalassa or Keri Lee III, Home, Ionian Princess, Sirocco, Talisman Maiton, The Wellington, and Lady Michelle. Consider factors such as the yacht's size, amenities, and the number of guests it can accommodate.

Contact a Yacht Charter Broker or Agency : Once you've selected your preferred yacht, reach out to a reputable yacht charter broker or agency who can guide you through the booking process. They will help you with pricing details and availability for your desired dates. Remember that the cost will vary depending on the yacht, the length of your stay, and other additional expenses.

Review and Customize Your Itinerary : Work with your charter broker to create a tailored itinerary that suits your preferences and interests. They will help you plan the perfect destinations, activities, and menu for your 3-day charter. Make sure to communicate any specific needs or requests during this stage, such as dietary restrictions or any celebratory events that may be taking place during your trip.

Sign Contract and Make Payment : Once you are satisfied with your itinerary and pricing, your charter broker will provide you with a contract outlining the terms and conditions of your yacht charter. Review the contract carefully, sign it, and then make the necessary payments according to the payment schedule mentioned in the agreement. Keep in mind that your broker may require a deposit to secure your booking and that the final payment may be due several weeks before your departure.

The 'Below Deck: Mediterranean' Yacht Is Pricy

below deck mediterranean home yacht cost

There's a new season of Below Deck on its way, and you know what that means: Another mega yacht to drool over while dreaming of sipping freshly made drinks instead of sitting at home on your couch. And, of course, the reality check when you realize just how much it costs to rent the Below Deck: Mediterranean ship: The Ionian Princess . The yachties over at Yacht Charter Fleet said that a week on the IP in the summer will cost you $163,501, but the experts at Fraser Yachts quote a slightly higher measurement — up to $185,972 a week in the summer . Want to save a few bucks? You can travel in the winter, when the cost is less exorbitant, just $140,087 according to YCF as opposed to Fraser's $163,430.

Either way, you probably need to be an actual millionaire in order to go on a month-long charter trip through the Mediterranean. I hope that doesn't come as a shock, because is anyone surprised that the yachts seen on Below Deck are expensive? Come on, if a sweatshirt from the Kanye collection is hundreds of dollars, then it should be no surprise that the vacations that Beyonce takes cost in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. But, you're getting your money's worth when you rent the Ionian Princess.

The Cast Of Below Deck: Mediterranean

below deck mediterranean home yacht cost

Maybe not literally, unless you happen to be chartering the ship when the Bravo cameras are present, but YCF says that the yacht carries up to ten crew members. That means ten people will be working 24/7 in order to insure that you don't have to lift a finger for the tenure of your stay... that is, so long as you leave them a good tip afterwards.

Room For Eleven Of Your Closest Friends

According to its website, the accommodations on the Ionian Princess include room for 12 people, split into six rooms. And there's two master suites, so no need to argue about who gets to stay in the biggest room.

A Ship With Serious Length

The IP is 150 feet long , according to Yachting magazine. To put that into perspective, the Ionian Princess is almost as long as the Tower of Pisa is tall. So, even though there's a lot of people on board, you really don't have to see them if you don't want to.

A Ton Of Watery Adventure

Yacht Charter Fleet has a list of the activities that you can do while sailing on the Ionian Princess, and they're awesome . Jet skis, kayaks, snorkels, wakeboards, waveriders, waterskis. Not mentioned: A giant rubber slide, unfortunately. I guess that's Below Deck classic-only.

Of Course, There's A Jacuzzi

View on Instagram

That's for the best, really, since the on deck hot tub always tends to get a lot of use as the season goes along. And, the crew loves to take their turn in the jacuzzi. Captain Lee always seemed a bit awkward, but maybe the new Mediterranean captain will be more chill.

A Ton Of European Style

The Caribbean yachts were a bit more relaxed and beachy compared to the Ionian Princess, which will be bringing some ornate European flair, like this glass window design.

But, if you need more convincing of why this yacht is first class in luxury, tune in to Below Deck: Mediterranean on May 3.

How To Book The 'Below Deck Mediterranean' Yacht, Because Everyone Needs A Luxury Vacation

If you aren't yet familiar with Below Deck Mediterranean or its predecessor, Below Deck , then you probably have close to no idea how glamorous yacht life is. But if you have been a fan of the Bravo series, and caught the Below Deck Mediterranean series premiere, then you're probably wondering, can you book a trip on Below Deck Mediterranean ? If you've got a couple hundred thousand dollars sitting around, then yes, you can absolutely book a trip on the Ionian Princess of Below Deck Mediterranean .

Much like the series before it, Below Deck Mediterranean will feature the sort of drama fans have come to love and expect from not only Bravo but Below Deck itself. Some of the only differences this time around are the location, which will find us enjoying the insane sights of Greece and since it's in European waters, we can also expect to have the sort of cast and crew made up of all sorts of cultures, ethnicities, and accents. A melting pot at the sea, if you will.

The trailer for the first season of the new series features all sorts of dramatics already, from the crew getting in fights (surprising) to passenger/steward relations (also super surprising. Only, you know, not). Naturally, though, the experience on Below Deck Mediterranean looks like a nonstop party and who doesn't want to be a part of that? So, how do you charter the yacht from Below Deck and what does it even entail? Should you find yourself wanting to be in thick of all of that drama, then here we go.

How Much Does It Cost?

As to be expected, in order to charter the Ionian Princess for a week at a time, it costs a pretty penny . If you are looking to have it for a week in the winter, it's going to run you around $140,087, and should you prefer to take a trip for a week in the summer, costs start at $163,501. For one week.

How Can You Book The Yacht?

Believe it or not, in order to rent a yacht, there is a lot more to it than calling the owner and giving them your credit card info. A vacation rental in Myrtle Beach this is not. Instead, you're looking at speaking to a yacht broker in order to have a middle man of sorts to speak to the owner and crew of the yacht you're looking to charter. Think of them as a travel agent , but kind of on a higher level.

How To Ensure A Spot On The Actual Show

What's that? You want to take a 3-4 day trip on a luxury yacht around the Mediterranean Sea and also appear on a hit Bravo reality show? Yeah, I know. But you don't need to be a millionaire to get to take a trip on the Ionian Princess in this instance. Bravo actually casts for guests specifically , so it has nothing to do with paying to charter the yacht yourself. For a chance to be on Below Deck Mediterranean and get a spot on the Ionian Princess, all you need to do is send your name, phone number, location, picture, and some reasons why you want to go on the yacht to [email protected]. So yeah, you have to somehow come up with why you want to take an awesome luxury yacht trip.

Everything to Know About ‘Below Deck Med’ Season 9: From Aesha’s Return to Captain Sandy’s Proposal

Everything to Know About 'Below Deck Med' Season 9: From Aesha's Return to Captain Sandy's Proposal

Fans are getting the newest season of Below Deck Mediterranean sooner than expected — and the new episodes promise plenty of bombshells.

Bravo announced in April 2024 that Below Deck Mediterranean would be airing once Below Deck season 11 comes to an end. The upcoming season hinted at another cast shakeup with Captain Sandy Yawn being joined by fan-favorite Aesha Scott , who was previously a stew on several seasons of the spinoff.

Below Deck Mediterranean ‘s return comes five months after the previous season wrapped up on Bravo. Season 9 is set once again on the Mustique but this time the charters will take place in Greece instead of Italy.

Viewers have high expectations after season 8 set the bar with drama. The eighth season kicked off with bosun Ruan Irving being accused of forging his paperwork, which led to Below Deck Down Under alum Luka Brunton to get promoted in his place.

Meanwhile in the interior, chief stew Tumi Mhlongo and Natalya Scudder got off to a rough start. The tension continued to build — with Kyle Viljoen getting caught in the middle — until Natalya left and was replaced with Lily Davison . Kyle subsequently got into a fight with Max Salvador as well after a crew night out.

The crew’s personal lives were just as over the top with Luka striking up a flirty friendship with Natalya before her departure. The twosome, however, stayed in touch and things only got worse when Luka started hooking up with Jessika Asai .

After watching the season back, Sandy exclusively told Us Weekly that she was determined to give everyone grace and patience .

“[I would work with] all of them because it’s about giving people opportunities to change. How do you know if people want to change? You give them the opportunity to show you that they’re going to change,” she explained in December 2023. “Why would they change if no one gives them the opportunity? Of course I would give them all the opportunity to show me that they will change.”

The captain added: “Every season comes with its surprises. Listen, imagine working and living together with the same. It’s not easy. So I give them a lot of credit for the staying power in the middle of it all.”

Favorite place you've been on charter? "Ponza and Palmarola, Italy."

"Honestly, I find that the job as a whole surprises most people that aren't in the industry."

Chef Johnathan Shillingford

Below Deck Med Season 9 cast: Meet Captain Sandy’s new and returning crew

Captain Sandy Yawn on Below Deck Med Season 9

Captain Sandy Yawn returns for Below Deck Med Season 9 this summer with some new and familiar faces.

It was a shock to learn that Below Deck Med was returning for Season 9 so quickly after Season 8 had just ended.

The new season brings back fan favorite Aesha Scott to the Med after she helped launch Below Deck Down Under Season 2.

As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Aesha broke her silence and went back to where it all began for her.

There is one other familiar face on the crew that’s mainly filled with new yachties.

Meet the Below Deck Med Season 9 interior crew

Stew Elena Dubaich appeared on Below Deck Med Season 7 for a brief minute when Kyle Viljoen was out with an injury. The Slovenia native is back to shine for an entire season, showing off her eight years of interior experience.

Bri Muller is the other stew working under Aesha with three years of experience in the yachting world. She hails from South Africa and clashes with Elena, causing many problems for the chief stew.

Ironically, there are only three stews in the interior crew this season on the Mustique yacht. That’s one less than on Below Deck Med Season 8, which could mean another crew member’s identity is being kept quiet for now.

Chef Johnathan Shillingford takes on the galley with his seven years of experience as a yacht chef. Johnathan calls Dominica home, it’s where he gained his love of cooking as well as twerking and dancing.

Here’s the Below Deck Med Season 9 deck team

Bosun Iain Maclean heads up the deck team after being in the yachting world for five years. The South African native is all about positivity and being friendly, which will be interesting to watch.

Joe Bradley from Spain is all about living a life of adventure. The deckhand brings three years of yachting to the team and some romance drama.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Above Deck Podcast (@abovedeckpod)

Gael Cameron also has three years of experience in yachting and considers making people laugh her specialty. She hails from Australia and loves everything about yachting, even the sacrifices.

Ireland native Nathan Gallagher rounds out the deck team with only two years of experience in yachting. Nathan also admits to being a huge Below Deck and Summer House fan.

There is a brief breakdown of the Below Deck Med Season 9 crew.

Below Deck Med Season 9 premieres on Monday, June 3 at 9/8c on Bravo. Seasons 1-8 are streaming on Peacock.

Screen Rant

11 below deck deckhands who are the worst.

Below Deck has featured many deckhands over the years, but some are better than others. These are the 11 worst deckhands on the hit Bravo franchise.

  • Some deckhands on Below Deck have caused drama & issues with their professionalism.
  • Examples include Danny Zureikat, who flirted with guests, & Dylan De Villiers.
  • Dylan showed rude behavior towards crewmates, unlike others trying to improve.

Below Deck has cast many deckhands over the years, but some are much worse than others. As the Below Deck franchise continues to unfold with tales of drama and salacious boatmances, some deckhands stand out not for their commitment to professionalism but for being bona fide disasters. On Below Deck , deckhands are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the yacht.

Below Deck , Below Deck Mediterranean , Below Deck Sailing Yacht , Below Deck Down Under , and Below Deck Adventure have an extensive roster of cast members whose ineptitude and blunders have left a lasting impression. However, some deckhands stand out. Here are some of the worst deckhands, including cast members from Below Deck season 11 .

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

11 danny zureikat, below deck mediterranean season 1.

Danny Zureikat was a deckhand on Below Deck Med season 1, but his stint on the show was brief due to breaking rules and getting too familiar with guests, especially a model named Morgan. This included flirting with her and even writing her a poem, which was not okay given he was a crew member. He also broke other rules onboard, including sharing photos of the female guests with other guests, which Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier had to address.

Danny's lack of professionalism also led to conflicts with fellow crew members, notably deckhand Bobby Giancola and Hannah. Ultimately, Danny's behavior became too problematic to ignore , leading Captain Mark Howard to dismiss him from the yacht. The captain's decision was likely influenced by Danny's repeated infractions and his failure to adhere to any of the expectations of a good crew member.

10 James Hough

Below deck season 8.

James Hough wasn't the worst deckhand on Below Deck , but he deserves a spot on the list. One aspect that caused problems for him was his flirty personality, which sometimes blurred boundaries and led to complications. His relationship with Elizabeth Frankini made him distracted, which caused an issue with Chief Stew Francesca Rubi. While James wasn't fired, it did lead to Elizabeth's dismissal from the yacht.

Additionally, James initially found it challenging to connect with his crewmates , which may have affected teamwork and communication onboard. He even considered leaving the yacht early on but decided to stay. However, it's worth noting James improved as the season progressed, eventually finding his stride and becoming more comfortable with his role. Regardless, he didn't leave a great impression as a deckhand due to his overly flirty nature.

Below Deck Fans Believe This Crew Member Is Creating A Troubled Work Environment

9 nico scholly, below deck seasons 4 & 5.

Nico Scholly appeared on Below Deck seasons 4 and 5, but he wasn't the best deckhand. Throughout his time on the show, Nico's personal problems impacted his performance, including breaking up with his long-term girlfriend, Melissa. The subsequent romance with Brianna Adekeye seemed to distract him from his duties as a deckhand. Nico's interactions with bosun EJ Jansen were also dramatic , impacting the team onboard.

Sadly, the death of Nico's younger brother heavily impacted him, which admittedly led him to use the yacht as an escape rather than a professional gateway.

Sadly, the death of Nico's younger brother heavily impacted him, which admittedly led him to use the yacht as an escape rather than a professional gateway. While this could help explain his poor performance, he was still a bad deckhand. At the season 5 reunion, Nico expressed remorse for his actions and acknowledged the need for personal growth. This indicates his desire to improve, but it doesn't fix how terrible he was during the seasons.

8 Tanner Sterback

Below deck season 7.

Tanner Sterback was introduced as a deckhand on Below Deck season 7, but his tenure was short-lived. The disrespectful deckhand showcased a lack of responsibility during his time on the show. Despite working hard on the yacht, he also prioritized having fun and engaging in romantic entanglements with his crewmates over yacht duties. Self-proclaimed mama's boy, Tanner frequently called his parents, but even their warnings didn't deter his involvement in Below Deck 's romantic drama, including relationships with crewmates Simone Mashile and ill-fated attempts to hook up with former Chief Stew Kate Chastain .

Post- Below Deck , Tanner was hit by a car while riding his electric skateboard , resulting in a fractured skull and hospitalization. Despite the accident, Tanner has reflected on his highs and lows since the show. Tanner has also started dating someone , so his philandering days are likely behind him. Unfortunately, so are his days as a deckhand.

Below Deck Season 11’s Dylan Is Jealous Of Ben (He’s Going For His Position & His Boatmance)

7 dylan pierre de villiers, below deck season 11.

While Below Deck season 11 continues to unfold, Dylan Pierre de Villiers has already proven himself to be a less-than-ideal deckhand. The deckhand has a serious attitude problem. He only joined in episode 8, but his outlandish comments about fellow crew member Sunny Marquis and his demands to be promoted to lead deckhand made a negative impact. However, he's rude and disrespectful to more than just Sunny.

To redeem himself, Dylan should apologize to Sunny and Ben Willoughby, mend relationships with the crew, and demonstrate genuine remorse for his actions.

Despite having more experience than Sunny, Dylan's immature behavior in spreading rumors about her has caused friction within the crew at large. To redeem himself, Dylan should apologize to Sunny and Ben Willoughby, mend relationships with the crew, and demonstrate genuine remorse for his actions. Unlike many of the other deckhands on the list, Dylan has a chance to redeem himself on Below Deck season 11 . However, it's unlikely he will, given his attitude problem.

6 Ben Willoughby

Below deck seasons 10 & 11.

Unfortunately, Dylan isn't the only underperforming deckhand in Below Deck season 11. The deckhand-turned-bosun has been a controversial figure in the current season, and Ben may have been fired on Below Deck . Initially introduced as a deckhand, he was promoted to bosun following Jared Woodin's departure. However, his rise in rank didn't end the drama, particularly his connection with Sunny, which caused friction when Paris Fields joined the crew. Sunny confronted Ben about his behavior, but he continued to flirt with other crew members, including Paris and Xandi Oliver.

There are plenty of signs Ben might get fired after two rocky seasons.

There are plenty of signs Ben might get fired after two rocky seasons. Ben also appeared in season 10, where he was promoted to lead deckhand and engaged in a boatmance with Camille Lamb, causing tension among the crew. Despite his five years of experience in the yachting industry, Ben's disrespectful, unprofessional, and unreliable behavior makes him a terrible deckhand. It remains to be seen whether he gets fired or quits.

Below Deck: Dylan Pierre De Villiers Is The Most Problematic Season 11 Cast Member (Can He Redeem Himself?)

5 jean-luc cerza lanaux, below deck sailing yacht season 2.

Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux's time as a less-than-ideal deckhand on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2 was marked by his wild relationship with second stew Dani Soares and subsequent actions after the season wrapped. Despite initially appearing to have a real connection with Dani, their relationship went south when Dani announced her pregnancy, and Jean-Luc denied being the father . While he eventually confirmed his fatherhood and said he'd get involved in his daughter's life, his delayed actions and absence from Dani and their child's life were too little, too late.

Jean-Luc's online silence following the backlash and his return to social media after confirming paternity suggest a turbulent period in his personal life. Despite these challenges, he has continued his career in the yachting industry, albeit away from the public eye. While he wasn't a horrible deckhand, the romantic entanglement and fallout with Dani made him a bad crew member.

4 Dane Jackson

Below deck season 3.

Dane Jackson had the potential to be a great deckhand, but unfortunately, he was anything but. While Dane steered clear of major conflicts in Below Deck season 3, he failed to forge meaningful connections with his colleagues. He had a detached attitude towards his responsibilities as a deckhand; this was irksome for the rest of the crew. He also had an incident where he drank way too much and became aggressive. Eddie Lucas intervened and got him away from the rest of the crew, which isn't a great look as a new deckhand.

Captain Lee Rosbach was eventually forced to fire Dane for his poor performance. Dane's embarrassing behavior and failure to fulfill his duties led to his dismissal. However, before being officially fired by Captain Lee, Dane attempted to resign from his position. It didn't work, and the deckhand was fired.

8 Below Deck Chief Stews Who Are The Worst

3 peter hunziker, below deck mediterranean season 5.

Pete Hunziker from Below Deck Med season 5 earned his reputation as a bad deckhand because of a racist post. He was swiftly removed from the show after the post surfaced online. Not only is Pete a racist, but Pete was also known for his disrespectful behavior towards women onboard , including inappropriate comments and hitting on crew members. It was unprofessional and unsafe. Luckily, Malia White caught on to his sexism immediately and had him demoted.

Pete's firing was prompted by the racist post . Bravo terminated him in June 2020, editing subsequent episodes to minimize his appearance. Despite making an apology weeks later, Pete hasn't returned to the show or reality TV. While he's moved on from the controversy, a return to the franchise seems unlikely, given his racist remarks and lack of respect for his female colleagues.

2 Ashton Pienaar

Below deck seasons 6 & 7.

Ashton Pienaar appeared in Below Deck seasons 6 and 7, and while he started as a likable deckhand, he quickly turned into a problematic figure. Despite gaining sympathy after a scary accident on the show, his behavior got worse. Ashton's heavy drinking led to aggressive outbursts, particularly targeting Kate. His belligerence culminated in punching the inside of a van door while he was drunk.

Captain Lee doesn't mess around, so he refused to work with him again. As the biggest figure in the franchise, this effectively ended Ashton's Below Deck career. However, since leaving the show, Ashton has embarked on a journey of self-improvement, focusing on fitness coaching and becoming sober. This was a mature move, as most of Ashton's issues stemmed from his excessive drinking.

8 Below Deck Cast Members Who Left Gracefully After Being Fired

1 kyle dickard, below deck adventure season 1.

Kyle Dickard's blatant misconduct on Below Deck Adventure was characterized by many incidents that showcased his terrible venue as a deckhand. One notable instance was his inappropriate behavior towards Kasie Faddah, with whom he had a short-lived romance. Despite initially seeming to reciprocate Kyle's feelings, their relationship quickly turned sour as Kyle began flirting with Kasie in front of guests, which resulted in him receiving a warning from Captain Kerry Titheradge.

Another significant issue arose in his interactions with fellow deckhand Nathan Morley. Kyle repeatedly disregarded Nathan's requests to maintain cleanliness in shared spaces like the bathroom. Despite Nathan's efforts to address these issues peacefully, Kyle responded aggressively, even making threats of physical violence while he was drunk. Ultimately, Kyle's behavior crossed a line, and he was rightly fired from the Below Deck spin-off.

Below Deck season 11 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.

Below Deck is a popular reality TV franchise that focuses on a group of crew members as they work on luxurious yachts and cater to their client's needs. After the original series proved to be a success, Bravo developed a handful of spinoff shows including Below Deck Selling Yacht, Below Deck Adventure, Below Deck Down Under, and Below Deck Mediterranean.

Where Was the New Season of 'Below Deck: Mediterranean' Filmed?

With so many beautiful charter options in the Mediterranean, viewers are curious about the newest locale.

Sheridan Singleton - Author

Apr. 30 2024, Published 3:46 p.m. ET

It looks like Captain Sandy Yawn is back at the helm of Below Deck: Mediterranean . However, this season will take place in a new location, with many new faces joining the crew. Season 8 saw Captain Sandy and the crew traveling through the Italian Riviera, while prior seasons included locations in Malta and France. With so many beautiful charter options in the Mediterranean, viewers are curious about the newest locale. So, where was Below Deck Mediterranean 's ninth season filmed?

It looks like the Below Deck: Mediterranean group will be back on the Mustique, the super yacht that was featured in Season 8. That season was certainly a dramatic one thanks to romances, or rather "boatmances," within the crew, as well as illnesses hitting crew members throughout the charter season. With a minimal amount of cast members returning, Season 9 will feature several new cast members as well as a few familiar faces.

Where was 'Below Deck: Mediterranean' season 9 filmed?

Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean was filmed in Athens, Greece. While there have been prior Below Deck Med seasons filmed in Greece, this season will be the first one that takes place in Athens. Given the ancient history tied to the Greek city, it's highly likely that viewers will get to see some incredible bits of history that will be looped into the mix of the usual bits of drama within the crew, as well as the guests of the Mustique.

Is anyone from prior seasons returning for 'Below Deck: Med' Season 9?

Captain Sandy is back for her 8th season on Below Deck: Mediterranean , but what other familiar faces will be joining her in Athens? Aesha Scott makes her Below Deck: Mediterranean return after four seasons away but returns in the position of chief steward this time around. Elena Dubaich also makes her return to the series as a steward after providing her expertise when she filled in for former crew member Kyle Viljoen during Below Deck: Med 's seventh season.

What else has been shared about the new season of 'Below Deck: Mediterranean?'

According to Bravo, Below Deck: Mediterranean fans are in for another season full of drama and excitement. The Daily Dish shared, "Captain Sandy and the crew are dealing with tumultuous waves on Season 9, featuring eccentric guests, an abundance of late-night demands that require intervention, and never before seen medical, and a never-before-seen mechanical issue that orders all hands on deck."

Will there be any boatmances in Season 9 of 'Below Deck: Mediterranean?'?

While there have not been any specifics given about who in the crew gets themselves into romances with each other, there is a scenario that apparently Chief Stew Aesha will have to mediate, as it involves a love triangle within the crew. On the positive side of things, The Daily Dish also shared that Captain Sandy is planning on proposing to her partner of many years, Leah Shafer , which will certainly be a special moment if shown during the new season.
