The search for a missing sailor in Queensland has ended in tragedy after a man’s body was found by water police on Sunday.

The 65-year-old Yeppoon man was travelling from the coastal town to Brisbane, with two others - a father, aged in his 60s, and his son, aged in his 20s - when the yacht overturned near Lady Elliot Island.

Father and son winched from an overturned yacht off Bundaberg

The father and son managed to climb onto the upside-down vessel and set off an EPIRB, alerting Australian Maritime Safety Authority who deployed the Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper shortly before 8.30am.

The duo held on tight for almost two hours until they were rescued.

“Less than two hours later, the crew managed to locate the men and performed two separate winch rescues, hoisting the men individually into the safety of the aircraft,” LifeFlight Rescue said in a statement on Sunday.

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew winched a father and son from an overturned yacht on Sunday, in a rescue operation off the coast of Bundaberg.

“They were then flown to Bundaberg Hospital for observation.”

The search for the 65-year-old man began early Sunday morning after the yacht overturned about four nautical miles south of Lady Elliot Island.

It’s believed the keel snapped on the boat the men were on, causing it to overturn.

Police and emergency services commenced a search and rescue operation involving multiple vessels, police divers and the rescue helicopter.

However, after hours of searching the 65-year-old man’s body was tragically discovered just after 2pm.

Unfortunately the third person on the yacht – a 65-year-old Yeppoon man, did not survive. His body was found by police after 2pm on Sunday.

“Just after 10.15am, the rescue helicopter located two people in the water,” a Queensland police statement read.

“The 62-year-old Yeppoon man and 27-year-old Yeppoon man remain in stable conditions at Bundaberg Hospital.

“Just after 2pm, water police recovered the body of a 65-year-old Yeppoon man.”

According to publication Sea Born , the keel is often a structural beam that runs in the middle of the boat from bow to stern.

The purpose of the keel is to help give the boat greater stability and control while moving forward.

Lady Green, the tycoon’s wife who lives the high life while BHS workers face the chop

As the owner of the Arcadia Group, she rakes in hundreds of millions in dividends – which goes on yachts, Gulfstream jets and a life in Monaco

Philip Green and wife Tina

  • 21:08, 3 Jun 2016

Emily Retter

When you live on a £40million superyacht moored on Monaco’s glittering coastline and your image is one of a mahogany-tanned socialite, Barbie doll tresses blanched by those Cote d’Azur rays, you’re more likely to be wearing plunging couture recommended by your hubby’s pal Kate Moss , than a matching poly mix two-piece.

So really, why on earth would anyone ever assume serial A list mingler, Lady Tina Green would know anything about her husband Sir Philip ’s UK high street business empire? Let alone its once least glamorous arm, BHS? The 66 year-old only owned it, after all.

The 11,000 BHS workers now facing the dole queue know only too well that although Lady Sunshine has continued to drink in the vitamin D as fast as the Moet while hubby Sir Philip Greed has faced the music in the UK, she is clearly in the frame too.

Lady Tina has been the legal owner of his major retail investments since 2004 - receiving a dividend of £1.2 billion in 2005.

Although Sir Philip is director, it’s Lady Tina who owns the Arcadia Group - including Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, through the Jersey-based holding company Taveta Investments.

Before Green sold BHS to Dominic Chappell, she raked in hundreds of millions more from BHS in dividends. This kind of small change makes her seventh richest woman in the country in her own right.

Lady Green had little to do with running the business – well, she’s been tied up spending those dividends, especially on gifts for hubby.

There was the £7million Gulfstream jet for one birthday, reportedly. The Monopoly set with gold pieces and a £250,000 price tag.

When news of BHS’s impending collapse was first announced, it was rightly suggested she, along with Sir Philip and Chappell, should be called to answer questions by a parliamentary select committee.

But then her trademark leather trousers slithered off the hook. Perhaps it was the heat...

It’s said Sir Philip offered to attend only if his wife did not.

Of course, her address may have been the sum total of Tina’s BHS involvement. Monaco is a tax haven. Lady Tina doesn’t pay tax on those dividends earned from the British high street. And there is nothing illegal in that. Many have an opinion on the morality of it however.

Nevertheless, it’s somehow hard to believe the formidable Lady Tina is only a passive wifey.

Team Green met in 1985 in San Lorenzo restaurant in Knightsbridge. Still married to her first husband, she first thought him “arrogant”. He hadn’t heard of the swanky boutique she then ran – yes, she knew retail before she knew him. But when they met again she instantly fell in love.

They have two children, partygirl Chloe, 25, and Brandon, 23 – who enjoyed a £4 million bar mitzvah with entertainment by Beyonce.

Lady Green also runs her own interiors business specialising in kitting out yachts just like her’s.

She has claimed: “I can sell anything.”

Well BHS, its staff and pensioners have certainly been sold... down the river.

But Tina was more concerned with putting the finishing touches to the £100million Lionheart in Livorno, Italy.

She wore the medical-style shoe covers to protect the deck of the 300ft floating palace, registered in her name in Malta. It has taken four years to build and can accommodate 12 guests and 28 crew.

When finished it is expected to sail for Malta where Sir Philip, 64, will go for a test drive.

Lady Green fronts her husband’s empire and is worth £3.2billion.

MPs quizzed Sir Philip last week on BHS’s collapse, which left a £570million pension black hole.

He avoids paying millions in tax by keeping his businesses in his wife’s name in Monaco.

The scandal has led to calls for Sir Philip to be stripped of his knighthood and has brought fresh focus on his tax affairs.

Last night sources close to Sir Philip insisted he was committed to "fixing" the issues concerning the BHS pension fund.

His dad Philip's Arcadia Group went into administration late last year, after unsuccessfully seeking a £30 million cash injection to help it survive lockdown.

The former owner of brands including Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Burtons asked lenders for support after lockdown restrictions hammered sales, disrupting crucial trading up to Christmas.

Arcadia, which employed 15,000 people, was in trouble even before the coronavirus crisis. It recorded an operating loss of £138 million on turnover of £1.8 billion in 2018.

Back in 2019, Arcadia carried out an insolvency procedure known as a company voluntary arrangement to cut rents and close some shops.

Philip enjoyed almost two decades of ruling the high street after lucrative takeovers of BHS in 2000 and Arcadia in 2002.

Tina and Philip, who have been married since 1990, are also the parents of 30-year-old Chloe Green, who shares son Jayden, three, with her ex, Jeremy Meeks, 37.

Last summer, it emerged that Chloe had embarked on a romance with Italian yacht broker Manuele Thiella, 35.

A source said: 'Chloe has known Manuele for months and they have always been very close friends. They have a lot in common; they're both parents and are from similar worlds, Chloe is very happy with him. He's very much been accepted into her family.'

Farah El Kadhi, 36, who amassed more than 1 million followers on Instagram, died on Monday at the Mater Dei Hospital at around 6:30 a.m., the Times of Malta reports.

Fellow influencer and close friend Soulayma Hneynia confirmed Kadhi’s death, stating in an Instagram story that her friend died “peacefully in her sleep.”

Tunisian influencer Farah El Kadhi died while on a trip in Malta on Monday.

Hneynia described the Tunisian influencer as a “truly wonderful person, known for her kindness, generosity, and warmth.”

“Her positive spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her,” the mourning friend said.

The social media star appeared to have no visible injuries when she was admitted to the hospital, with a magisterial inquiry launched to uncover the exact cause of death, according to the local outlet.

Kadhi was on vacation in Malta, where she also promoted companies and brands on her Instagram.

Her last posts on social media featured her in the town of St. Julians, along Malta’s northeast shore, and aboard a boat docked at the Vittoriosa marina.

Both locations are relatively close to the Mater Dei Hospital, where she was admitted.

Known as one of Tunisia’s top social media influencers, Farah used her following to promote beauty tips and her fashion brand, Bazar by Faf.
