42m/137ft motor yacht IRONMAN (BF206) is the sixth hull in the Benetti Fast 140' range and was launched in 2018 with a semi-displacement fibreglass hull and superstructure. The exteriors were designed by Stefano Righini and the hull is a D2P_Displacement to Planing® hull with wave piercer, which was designed by Pierluigi Ausonio with the Azimut|Benetti Research and Development Centre to deliver better fuel efficiency while cruising speed and at top speed. The interiors are the work of US-based designer Alfred Karram Jr and his studio Akj Design Concepts and accommodate up to 12 guests over six cabins.

The main deck aft is furnished with a sofa and low tables that can be transformed into a large dining table. On the upper deck, the aft area is fitted with an alfresco dining table and an outdoor salon and sun lounging area. Above, the sundeck offers sun loungers along the bow, two L-shaped sofas and a third, central C-shaped sofa. The bar has an excellent selection of drinks and opposite there are two tables for relaxing with drinks while enjoying the views.
The lower deck hosts the majority of the guest accommodation, which consists of two VIP staterooms, two twin cabins and a further VIP cabin accessible through the twin cabin. The crew accommodation is placed in the bow section, where there is also laundry facilities.
The full-beam Master suite is located on the main deck and has its own en-suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and study. The main salon behind is bright and naturally lit due to the glass plating planning down both sides, which also ensures guests have excellent views of their surroundings. A dining table to seat up to 12 guests is also located within the space.
On the upper deck there is the pilothouse, Captain's cabin and the skylounge, which has a bar and relaxing seating area and opens out onto the upper deck aft through a single sliding door.

Benetti launches 42m M/Y ‘Ironman’
It is the sixth fast 140’ model launched from the italian yard….
Last week, Viareggio-based Benetti launched M/Y Ironman , a 42m semi-displacement fibreglass yacht. Recognised in The Superyacht Intelligence Annual Report 2018: New Build as the most active superyacht builder in the world, Benetti is scheduled to deliver 14 yachts over the course of 2018, which would be the highest number of units delivered annually by the yard in the last five years.
The sixth of Benetti’s Fast 140’ models, Ironman ’s exterior has been designed by Stefano Righini, and has interiors designed by US-based designer Alfred Karram Jr and his studio Akj Design Concepts. The naval architecture has been developed by PierLuigi Ausonio alongside Azimut Benetti. A key specification, the hull has been optimised to reduce fuel consumption at cruising speed and reach a top speed of 23 knots.
The yacht’s main lounge is divided into living and dining areas and features large areas of glass, creating light and an enhanced connection with the marine environment. On the same deck is a big full-beam master suite. The upper deck is home to the pilot house and lounge area. Separated by a sliding glass door, the space flows between the indoor and outdoor areas.
The rest of the guest accommodation is situated on the lower deck and consists of two VIP cabins with double beds, two cabins with twin beds, plus a third VIP cabin with a double bed, accessible via the twin bed cabin. Aft on this deck is a spacious beach club with bar and living area. A further relaxation and entertainment area for guests is featured on the sundeck.

Benetti Launches Sixth Fast 140 Mega Yacht Named Ironman Benetti’s in-house research ad development team designed a proprietary hull with Pierluigi Ausonio. Benetti calls the hull design Displacement to Planing (D2P). The hull significantly reduces wave resistance, fuel consumption and pitch and roll. At displacement speeds, it also cruises about 20 percent higher when compared to similarly sized displacement hulls. Powered by twin MTUs, the mega yacht should realize a top speed of 23 knots. Under a 70% load, she should achieve 18 knots, while a range of 1,800 nautical miles is possible at 12 knots. Ironman follows traditional interior configurations on a beam of 8.5 meters. The master suite is forward on the main deck along with a combination saloon and dining area. All guest cabins are below decks. Two sets of mirror-image staterooms, a pair of VIPs and a pair of twins are aft of a full-beam VIP. Alfred Karram Jr. Design Concepts collaborated with the owner to design the interior around how they like to live. The mega yacht will also have several notable al fresco areas, including a beach club lined with teak. Lunches and dinners will be more special on the upper deck. Sliding glass doors just forward of this area can remain open to turn the skylounge into an indoor-outdoor area. The skylounge also has a bar. For simple relaxation, Ironman’s sundeck has sun lounges, two smoking tables, a large C-shape seating area and a bar.
