We hired the boat for our family of 4 and it couldn’t have been easier or more fun. We parked right outside the office and we’re immediately taken by boat on a short ride to meet the skipper and crew for the day. The boat was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for a fun day. The restaurant Estamine on the island had the most incredible fish dishes and the Staff were really friendly.

This was a wonderful experience. The staff were very friendly and gave us options of what to do with our time on the catamaran. We chose to go out to sea first where we were surrounded by dolphins! They then took us to a cove to swim, it was lovely. The boat is beautiful and we were sad to get off.

Annie our hostess and Pedro our captain were so friendly and knowledgeable about the areas we sailed to. We anchored and were able to swim to the beach some used paddle boards which were supplied. Great value for money and the best day spent with friends. Highly recommended

We had such a great time all around, absolutely no complaints. We loved the boat itself but what really made the experience so great was that the skipper and hostess were wonderful. Extremely friendly, welcoming and accommodating. They will tailor the experience to you for whatever activity or sights you would like to see or do. We had beautiful weather and just wanted to get out to the open water and sail, and hopefully see some dolphins, and their genuine excitement really made it apparent that they love their job, and that always makes an experience better. If we ever get the opportunity we will absolutely go again, and the next time we will book a longer trip. Thank you all very much.

Carlos and Daniela provided us (2 couples) the most amazing, unforgettable day with a private all-day tour in Ria Formosa! They were so incredibly nice and knowledgeable about the area, helped us with everything we needed, the boat was big, beautiful and ideal, gave us access to the most beautiful beaches, we had a blast doing paddleboard and swimming in the gorgeous water... It was the most perfect day!

We had a really great time on the boat. Bruno was really nice and helpful since the beginning. Once in the boat Carlos and Filipa were welcoming, warm and full of small attentions. For sure we will come back next year ! Do not hesitate to book this excursion 🙌🏻

I researched for smaller yachts and catamarans for my sister's bachelorette party in Faro, Portugal and when I saw this posting, I immediately knew that this was the perfect choice for our party. Bruno was completely helpful, communicative, flexible, patient and transparent during the time leading up to the point of purchase — I actually contacted him of another site and he recommended that I go directly with him as it would be cheaper! The day of we had Annie and the skipper of the boat who were so friendly and warm and offered us drinks, prepared the snacks we brought , took our pics, and had really informative conversations about the island we were anchoring at and general nice talk and jokes. We even forgot our picnic basket on the boat and Annie offered to go out of her way to drop it off at our Airbnb!!! You'll also want to set aside time for exploring the narrow, winding streets of Guimarães' UNESCO-listed historic center, which is lined with cafes and charming plazas. Encircled by medieval walls, this town about 50 miles north of Lisbon is straight out of a dream. Óbidos' charm lies in its whitewashed architecture, cobblestone streets and purple bougainvillea flowers. Stroll down Rua Direita, Óbidos' main street, to browse shops and cafes, or snap a photo of the town's colorful azulejos at Porta da Vila (the town gate). Dating back to 16 B.C., this city roughly 35 miles northeast of Porto is one of the oldest cities in Portugal. 1. Spend the day at the beach

If you and your family are beachgoers, then you’ll love the Algarve coast. It has over 200 km (125 miles) of coastline and 133 beaches for you to discover.

Most of the Portuguese beaches are family-friendly. Some of the best ones for kids are Praia Do Anção, Praia Do Barril, Praia da Rocha, and Praia Do Burgau . 

These beaches are perfect for children, so expect many other families. Kids will love connecting with children from around the world. Also, the beaches have lifeguards on duty during the summer to keep everyone safe in the water.

Praia da Marinha is a very popular spot because it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve. We only recommend it if traveling with older children as there is a narrow cliffside walkway to reach the beach.

The family can enjoy water sports like renting a kayak or trying a stand-up paddleboard. This beach can be extremely crowded, (especially during the high season – summer) so it doesn’t provide the tranquility you will find at other beaches.

What kid wouldn’t love to take a ride in a boat? There are kid-friendly boat tours all over the Algarve. During the summer months, these are especially popular as they allow you to see the Algarve coastline from a different perspective. 

Some cruises focus on finding dolphins, while others head to the famous Benagil Cave (Algar de Benagil). They all offer views of limestone cliffs and unique rock formations. Some will even take you through sea caves.

4. Explore the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa

There’s a great family beach here called  Praia da Ilha de Tavira  that has lounge chairs with umbrellas and a restaurant for when the kids get hungry.

Families can enjoy one of the many hikes in this area ranging from 2 to 10 miles. You can choose the best one for your family and enjoy some of the area’s panoramic views.

5. Visit animals at Lagos Zoo 

The Lagos Zoo has animals from 5 continents as well as local birds and mammals. The zoo opened in November 2000 and has been a hit with the locals and tourists alike. Some animals your kids are sure to love are monkeys, crocodiles, and toucans.

They also have a swimming pool, restaurants, and a place where the kids can feed animals like pelicans, otters, and even lemurs. The zoo is a short drive (about 30 minutes) from the center of Lagos and there is also public transportation that goes directly to it.

6. Go on a Jeep safari 

If you want to do something out of the ordinary, take your family on a Jeep safari. These safaris will drive you and your family around in some incredible places. 

Look for animals as you drive on dirt roads through streams and over mountains. Some of the best Jeep safari tours are:

You can either charter a boat with a captain or join a tour. July to September are the best months for fishing and some of the fish you could catch are sea bream, sea bass, and mackerel.

8. Visit a castle

The Algarve has a lot of medieval castles spread throughout the region. No matter where you are staying in the Algarve, there will be a castle nearby. They range from the 8th to 18th century and come in many architectural styles.

Some of the most famous ones in this area are Castelo de Tavira, Silves Castle, and Castelo de Castro Marim. These castles are great learning opportunities for kids and will help them to understand Portuguese architecture and its rich history.

9.  Explore the  Centro de Ciencia Viva in Faro 

This small building may not look special from the outside, but inside is a kid’s paradise. The Living Science Center is the perfect place to take your child who is obsessed with science or loves interacting with other kids while learning. 

Inside, there’s an aquarium, an interactive science exhibition, and an area that teaches about local animals. There are also temporary exhibitions that change throughout the year, so check on their website to see what the latest exhibits are.

It’s all indoors, which makes this a great place to go if you are getting too much sun and need a break from the beach.

10. Visit The Largest Park Of Sand Sculptures in Lagos

Sand City is a park with over 120 sand sculptures across 5 hectares (12 acres) of land. It features important landmarks from around the world, as well as Portuguese landmarks and animals. 

If your kids like to build sand castles, you must take them here. The Park only takes a couple of hours to walk through, and once you are done, there’s a space for picnics and even a snack bar.

Also, if you have small children, you can rent a golf cart to drive around the park and see all the amazing sculptures from the comfort of your seat.

11. Go horseback riding 

When it comes to horseback riding in the Algarve, there are many places to go and several tours you can book. One of the best ones is  Horse Riding in Portugal – Picadero Kids . 

This tour is made especially for kids and gives them all of the safety equipment and guidance that they will need. It’s located in Faro and the ride is about 30 minutes long.

Children can ride, feed, and groom the horses. There are other tours in the Algarve for horseback riding, but many of them are only for ages 12 and up.

12. Eat delicious Portuguese food 

If you and your family are foodies, then the Algarve will be your heaven on earth. One dessert that kids are sure to love is Dom Rodrigos. These sweet treats have been made for centuries and consist of egg yolks, sugar, ground almonds, cinnamon, and fios de ovos (thin egg threads).

Leitão is another dish that everyone will love. It’s a suckling pig that has been marinated and cooked for 24 hours. The meat is very tender, and the skin is crispy and delicious. 

If your kid loves octopus, shrimp, and fish, don’t miss a visit to a local fish market or fishing village to sample the freshest seafood available.

Bonding as a family with a game of mini-golf is one of my fondest childhood memories. Portugal is a very family-focused country, so you can find mini-golf courses almost anywhere.

Some of the best ones are Family Golf Park in Quarteira, Adventure Mini Golf Park in Albufeira, and ProPuttingGarden in Lagos.

This is the perfect activity to do before heading out for a family dinner or after a day of relaxing on the beach to get that last bit of energy out of the kids before bedtime. All the ones mentioned on this list have 18 or more exciting holes that will be sure to entertain the kids.

You and your kids will be entertained for hours and at a great price. There are also lounge chairs for the adults, so you can relax and watch your kids as they enjoy the pool. Then, when you’re hungry, head to the onsite restaurant that serves pizza, burgers, and ice cream.

15. Head to the end of the earth

Cabo de São Vicente (Cape St Vincent) is often referred to as the end of the earth. It’s one of the main attractions in the Algarve. During the age of the Portuguese explorers (think Magellan, Vasco da Gama, and Christopher Columbus), this was the point they would depart from in search of new worlds.

There are some spectacular views from the top of the cliffs, but there is also a lighthouse and epic sunsets. If you are looking for fun things to do in the Algarve, this needs to be on your list.

16. Climb the treetops at Parque Aventura in Albufeira

Parque da Mina   is a theme park that has so much to offer and teach your kids. You will learn what life was like back in the 17th century and experience it by visiting a 17th-century manor house, a grocery store, a gold mine, and much more.

Russia downs 10 drones in one of largest attacks on Moscow

Air defenses shot down 10 drones approaching Moscow in what Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called one of the largest attacks on the Russian capital since the beginning of the war on Ukraine, as Kyiv’s forces continued their incursion into Russia’s Kursk region.

“Our force should be felt in various corners of Russia,” Andriy Yermak, the chief of staff to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said Wednesday on Telegram, without specifically referring to the drone assault. “So it will be.”

Sobyanin said Moscow’s “layered defense” had succeeded in intercepting all the drones, and there were no reports of damage or casualties. In total, 45 drones were shot down overnight in various regions of Russia, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Moscow was regularly the target of Ukrainian drone attacks last summer. Strikes against Russia’s largest city with the unmanned aerial vehicles have been far less frequent this year as Ukraine has focused on hitting military airfields and energy sector installations in border regions.

Ukraine’s military caught Russia off guard with its intervention into the Kursk region that’s now in its third week, the first foreign military offensive inside Russian territory since World War II. Zelenskyy said Monday that his forces control more than 483 square miles of Russian territory and are continuing to expand operations in the region. The claims couldn’t be independently verified.

Ukraine has also stepped up targeting of military sites in the occupied Crimea peninsula in recent months, forcing Russia’s Black Sea fleet to retreat from the area to protect its vessels.

Ukrainian air defenses downed 50 out of 69 Shahed drones, the highest number reported so far this month, as well as one missile out of three fired by Russia overnight, the country’s Air Force Command said on Telegram.

Zelenskyy has urged U.S. and European allies to lift restrictions on the use of long-range weapons against Russia, saying his military’s cross-border operation had exposed as “illusory” Kremlin threats of retaliation.

He said Ukraine’s goal in the operation is to establish a buffer zone to protect communities in its northern border areas from Russian attack. Russia’s military has repeatedly launched missiles, glide bombs and drones from the Kursk and neighboring Belgorod regions to strike Ukrainian cities close to their border.

Russia has continued attacks elsewhere along the front line, advancing in the eastern Donetsk region toward the city of Pokrovsk, an important logistics hub for Ukrainian forces. Local authorities have ordered an evacuation of civilians.

If Ukraine is able to hold on to territory in Kursk, that could force Moscow to redeploy troops from the eastern frontline to help dislodge Kyiv’s forces from Russia, said Jim Townsend, a former top Pentagon official during President Barack Obama’s administration.

“Maybe it will take pressure off the east and they’ll be able to retake some of the settlements they’ve lost,” said Townsend, a senior fellow at the Washington-based Center for a New American Security.

At the same time, Ukraine should be careful not to fall into the trap of “overstretch,” he said. Russia could try to lure Ukrainian troops deeper into its territory and “then use artillery and air power to smash them to pieces.”
