Ghostbusters VR Gets Official Title, and Release Window
Live out your ghostbusting dreams in vr next year..

Sony Pictures VR officially announced the official title and release window for its upcoming Ghostbusters VR game.
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is slated to launch in 2023 for the Meta Quest 2 and PlayStation VR2 . The game was initially announced back in April during Meta's Gaming Showcase as a surprise announcement to wrap up the show.
Set in San Francisco, players run their own ghost-busting business. As noted in the press release, players will have the chance to play solo or with up to three friends as they try and "stop the powerful Ghost Lord and his band of malevolent ghosts from causing chaos" through San Francisco.

Sony Pictures VR confirmed to IGN that the upcoming Ghostbusters game will not be a direct sequel to the 2021 film Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Instead, the publisher explained that it was "really important" for the game's developer, nDreams, to "move forward and create a whole storyline."
While nothing firm outside of a 2023 release window has been announced, the game will release the same year Sony's second generation VR headset, PlayStation VR2, will release.
In August, Sony confirmed that it will launch the PSVR2 in early 2023 . While the Meta Quest 2 is showing its age, we do know that the newly-announced (and costly) Quest Pro was announced a few weeks back. While it is designed to focus on work and productivity, it is compatible with the Meta Quest 2 library .
Meta has also confirmed that the gamer-focused Quest 3 will release next year and might also include backward compatibility for Quest 2 games.

Ghostbusters VR is coming to the Oculus Quest 2
Who you gonna call?

Are you ready to bust some ghosts? Well, you better be as Ghostbusters VR is coming to the Oculus Quest 2 (now Meta Quest 2) later this year.
This immersive new game is based on the film franchise of the same name and was announced as part of the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase .
Much like the heroes from the classic flicks, you and a team of ghost-catching aficionados must venture into spooky locales to eradicate the undead infestations.
Based on the trailer, it looks like you can do it while wearing a range of colorful costumes:
Beyond the fact that we'll be throwing on proton packs and hunting down ghosts, there's not much else we know right now as Mark Zuckerberg revealed this as the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase's finale piece - the 'one more thing' announcement.
The event ended once the trailer finished playing, leaving no time for the host to tell us anything more than what we saw in the one-minute-long clip of footage.
That said, we expect we won't be waiting too long before we hear more about Ghostbusters VR. That's because at the beginning of the event the host said we'll be playing all of these games within the year.
With a 2022 or early 2023 release date on the cards, there are only so many days left before we'll have Ghostbusters VR in our hands.
So, be on the lookout for more Ghostbusters VR news over the coming months, and be sure to check back here every so often. As soon as we hear anything we'll be sure to update you on all the latest about the best VR games out there.

Ghostbusters VR Game Announced For Meta Quest 2, Watch The First Trailer
A new Ghostbusters game has been announced for VR from the developers of Far Cry's VR title.
By Eddie Makuch on April 20, 2022 at 12:07PM PDT
A new Ghostbusters video game has been announced for virtual reality. Revealed during the Meta Quest Gaming showcase today, Ghostbusters VR (working title) is a new project in the works for Meta Quest 2.
It's developed by nDreams, the team behind the game Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity. Sony Pictures is publishing the game. Check out the first trailer below.
In the game, players will solve a "deep mystery" in a "new chapter" in the Ghostbusters franchise. The game--which is set in San Francisco--supports solo and co-op play with up to three others. As you'd expect, the gameplay involves protecting San Francisco from ghosts and taking part in the "humor and frights" in keeping with the tradition of the franchise.
Meta's director of publishing, Chris Jurney, said, "This game will give the ultimate wish-fulfillment of catching ghosts in true Ghostbuster fashion, and we're excited to team up with Sony Pictures Virtual Reality to bring this universe to life on Quest 2."
More details on Ghostbuster VR will be announced in the coming months. In addition to the new Ghostbusters VR game, Illfonic is developing a new 4v1 game called Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed for 2022 for console and PC.
The Meta Quest Gaming showcase also included the announcement of NFL Pro Era , the first licensed NFL game for VR. Additionally, Moss: Book II was given a Summer 2022 release date on Meta Quest 2.

On Wednesday, Meta announced a new Ghostbusters co-op game published by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and developed by nDreams. The game was announced alongside a brief trailer that shows an original cast of characters exploring an abandoned factory with their ghost-hunting gear. Predictably, there’s a ghoulie about, and they need to stop it from wreaking havoc with their gadgets and proton packs. There’s also time for a little bit of banter in the trailer, which is appropriate for the source material.
This is the second Ghostbusters co-op title to be announced recently; in March, we learned about Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed , a more traditional co-op game for PCs and consoles. There’s a lot of promise in a VR version of Ghostbusters, and similar games like indie horror title Phasmophobia have been very successful .
While players will be able to solo the game if they so choose, they can also play with up to three friends, and it seems as though the game is designed around having a team and some tactics. Ghostbusters VR does not yet have a release window.

New 'Ghostbusters VR' Game in Development at Sony Pictures Virtual Reality
The new 'Ghostbusters' game was revealed for the Meta Quest 2 VR headset.
Put the call out and get ready to bust some virtual reality ghosts with your friends as an all-new Ghostbusters game was revealed for the Meta Quest 2 VR headset. The game does not have an official name yet, though it is currently using the working title Ghostbusters VR . The upcoming game was announced at last week's Meta Quest Gaming showcase and was revealed with a short teaser trailer. The trailer was rendered in-engine with no real gameplay shown off, but what is shown is that the game retains the cartoonish art style that has been present in many of the more recent games based on the iconic property.
The trailer opens with a lone player traversing what looks like the lower levels of some sort of facility with a light, items being thrown around, and a lot of ectoplasm. The scene then cuts to the same player in a group with three other players, watching items all around them getting thrown around until a ghost jump scares the point of view character, who responds by firing his Proton Blaster at the spirit. The game will take place in San Francisco and will allow players to play through its campaign either solo or in co-op as they "solve a deep mystery across a new chapter in the Ghostbusters universe."
With the new game coming out, fans are going to want to know where it falls into the overall story of the Ghostbusters universe, especially with Ghostbusters: Afterlife having released last year. Speaking to IGN , Senior VP of Virtual Reality for Sony Pictures Entertainment Jake Zim said that the game does not directly tie into the events or story of the most recent film outing for the franchise, though there will be some returning elements that fans will enjoy. "Our game is not about Afterlife ," Zim says. "It is not a sequel to Afterlife . It does not go deeper directly into the stories. It is a new story, it's a new concept, but it ties closely back into lots of things that people loved from Afterlife and the broader Ghostbusters world itself."

The game is published by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR) and developed by nDreams, creators of leading titles Phantom: Covert Ops , Fracked , and Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity . The title joins a large number of other games based on the 1980's phenomenon, including several other VR games such as Ghostbusters VR: Showdown , Ghostbusters VR: Firehouse , and Ghostbusters VR: Now Hiring .
Ghostbusters VR does not yet have a release date or a release window and will be coming to the Meta Quest 2. You can watch the official trailer for the upcoming game down below.
Here's the official synopsis for the new Ghostbusters VR game:
Strap on your proton pack and Quest 2 and step into the world of Ghostbusters in immersive virtual reality. Run your Ghostbusters HQ in a new city, San Francisco, and solve a deep mystery across a new chapter in the Ghostbusters universe. Track, blast, and trap ghosts in gripping encounters by wielding iconic equipment. Go it alone, or as a team with up to three friends in co-op, in an extensive and engrossing campaign. Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord Revealed, Coming To VR In 2023
The Ghostbusters VR game teased earlier this year now has a name and a vague release date.
A new Ghostbusters game coming to VR was teased earlier this year, and now the first official and tangible details about that game have been unveiled. Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord will launch on Meta Quest 2 and PlayStation VR2 in 2023.
The newest Ghostbusters title has been created by nDreams, the studio behind the last Ghostbusters VR game and also the team responsible for bringing Far Cry into the VR world, and Sony Pictures VR. Although no specific launch date has been given just yet, probably because the PSVR 2 also still doesn't have a release date, players will be able to wield a virtual proton pack at some point next year.
RELATED: Ghostbusters Video Games: The Good, The Bad, And The Terrible
Rise of the Ghost Lord will include a number of familiar elements from the Ghostbusters franchise, but also introduce an all-new villain players will be tasked with taking down, or maybe that should be bustin'. You'll also likely recognize some of the game's backdrop as the ghouls you'll be zapping and sucking up will be dotted around San Francisco. Keep an eye out for the Golden Gate Bridge, as you can see, it's in there.
You'll be able to bust ghosts alone or in a team of up to four players, and there will be no need for you to fight over who gets to be Bill Murray. The cast of the game will be made up of new characters to the Ghostbusters universe, although you will be able to customize certain elements of how they look. The weapons you wield will also be upgradeable and customizable, presumably powering up as you progress through the game and your foes get trickier to deal with.
Almost a year has passed since rumors started to swirl that a new Ghostbusters game was in the works , and while it hasn't been confirmed, Rise of the Ghost Lord might well be that rumored game. The new title will likely launch on PSVR2 shortly after the console launches, or might well be one of the 20 launch titles promised for the next-gen VR system by PlayStation .

When does Ghostbusters VR release for Meta Quest 2?
You're the one they're gonna call.

The Ghostbusters series has been entertaining generations since the first movie premiered 38 years ago. Now, the ghost fighting series is getting its own VR game announced at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase 2022. As stated via a slide at the beginning of the showcase, all the games shown are slated to release sometime this year, including Ghostbusters VR.
The slide also noted that these games are subject to be delayed if the development faces any issues. While the trailer showed no gameplay, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced a new trailer and website for the game.
The trailer only features cinematics rendered in-engine, but they give an idea of the gameplay. Players will likely be on a team of four who will work together to fight ghosts at different locations. The trailer even features a red ghost with eyes in his hands and rapid movement.
This game is likely to be a favorite among those who grew up with the Ghostbuster franchise, finally allowing players to slip on the flight suit and take on these mischievous spirits. Fans of the franchise will also recognize some of the tools in the trailer, like the P.K.E. Meter and the Proton Pack.
NDreams is a VR developer that has put out previous titles like Fracked and Far Cry VR. It’s also putting out Little Cities, a city builder, sometime in Spring 2022.
The game has no set release date but is expected to come out sometime before the end of 2022.

On October 31, 2022, during Kinda Gunny Games' livestream, the new title was revealed to be "Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord" and teased the story entails a San Francisco team having to solve a deep mystery and stopping "the powerful Ghost Lord and his band of malevolent ghosts from causing chaos." The team's Firehouse and Containment Unit are a cable car station and retrofitted cable car. Their Ecto-1 will be different looking than the classic one. Players will also use a P.K.E. Meter and shoot out a Trap with a retractable device. Sony Pictures VR's Riley Cooper mentioned Jason Reitman was able to play a recent build of the game and gave some direction that the equipment should be "a little bit makeshift, a little bit improvised." A modern version of the Neutrona Wand was imagined, including a side handle. Customization are in terms picking the suit for one of four selectable characters. There will be tethering and overheating. Key art of the team and Ghost Lord were shown along with Mini-Pufts . Missions will have variety. One type of mission is "Exorcism Mode." Another emphasizes the player walking around with the P.K.E. Meter. Another involves retrieving something then the ghosts show up. It will still be four-player co-op, balancing between "investigation and combat." [9]
On December 8, 2022, the official Ghostbusters Twitter account teased the game would be featured during The Game Awards later in the day. [10] A 1:02 trailer featuring pre-alpha gameplay, a remix of Ghostbusters (song) , and a narration by Ernie Hudson was released. [11]
On January 24, 2023, it was reported Oculus set a June 1, 2023 release date for the game. [12]
On June 1, 2023, a Meta Quest 3 sizzle reel included a brief shot of the headquarters and Ectomobile at the 56 second mark. [13] A 1:33 story trailer was released narrated by Gustav Hookfaber, a former understudy of Egon, Ray, and Peter at Columbia University . [14] A roundtable with ndreams Art Director Jack Bromhead was posted. He confirmed gameplay is all about teamwork, there is an array of equipment, all equipment can be upgraded, there is an upgrade station in the headquarters, upgrades include a deployable shield and a decoy, players can select from an array of missions and earn cash at the end of every mission to buy equipment, they tied in a lot of the existing Ghostbusters universe into the story, confirmed a mission takes place at Alcatraz, confirmed Mini-Pufts are in it and will swarm you, and they looked at Tobin's Spirit Guide and existing IP when developing the ghosts in the game. [15]
On September 14, 2023, a 1 minute gameplay trailer was released. The release date was announced to be October 26, 2023. There will be a "Full Containment Edition" offered. It contains the game with six months of upcoming DLC and bonus content at a discounted price. [16] Eye tracking is implemented as an option for menu navigation, as well as making it intuitive to grab objects from a distance. In cooperative gaming, it can be used for communication. Immersive lighting will darken a room. The PS VR2's graphical capabilities aided the team on delivering on emotional tone, such as feeling a sense of dread and unease going into a dimly lit dark basement until you unleash your particle thrower and it suddenly fills the room with light. The PlayStation 5's power also enabled a number of ethereal ghost effects that evoke the movies. The degrees of haptics used ranges from subtly cuing players when there's something afoot, to more shocking effects from ghosts. [17] A 5 minute roundtable conducted on the set of the Ghostbusters (Untitled Afterlife Sequel) . There are franchises in various states but there has been no activity for a while until a blip on radar in San Francisco. The team that checks it out accidentally releases Ghost Lord who plans to raise the first undead city. Chinatown, Alcatraz, and Golden Gate Bridge are confirmed as levels. At headquarters, players can change up outfits at the locker. There is a shooting gallery to test out equipment. Missions have job types like combat, investigation or exploration but you have to pick one. Once Mini Pufts are on you, you can't use equipment until you pop them. Puffer is a ghost that gets angry and explodes. Penny is the clown-faced ghost and is a "healer." If a ghost flies through you, you feel a rumble from the headset. [18]
On September 27, 2023, the game was featured briefly in a Meta Quest 3 promo. That version will have a Mini-Puft Mayhem mini-game. [19] [20]
On October 13, 2023, it was revealed a Gold Rush Proton Pack is included in the Full Containment Edition. More reveals are forthcoming. [21]
On October 17, 2023, a short clip previewing the Gold Rush Proton Pack's thrower was posted. [22] A price breakdown was also posted. [23]

Meta Quest 3 review: powerful augmented reality lacks the games to back it up
Will Mitchell

The Meta Quest 3 can power augmented reality board games like Demeo. Meta hide caption
The Meta Quest 3 can power augmented reality board games like Demeo.
The Quest 3, Meta's new stand-alone VR headset, outshines its predecessor in nearly every way. But while you get more power for the $500, it's really designed to do something the Quest 2 couldn't: look out at the world around you and interact with graphics generated by the visor itself.
Apple has bet big on this augmented reality model, but their headset will cost a ludicrous $3500 . The Meta Quest 3 hopes to be much more accessible, but it still lacks a killer app — a compelling reason to shell out the hundreds of dollars it costs over the Quest 2.
Where's the fencing game Mark Zuckerberg showed off a year ago ? Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas VR was announced in 2021 — where is it now? Zuckerberg called the Quest 3 "the first mainstream mixed reality headset," but where are all the mixed reality games?

The Meta Quest 3 boasts improved pass-through cameras, comfortable "pancake" lenses, and updated controllers. Meta hide caption
The Meta Quest 3 boasts improved pass-through cameras, comfortable "pancake" lenses, and updated controllers.
Across the Metaverse
Meta has poured tens of billions of dollars into developing headsets and smart glasses since it purchased VR pioneer Oculus in 2014. CEO Mark Zuckerberg even changed his company's name from Facebook to Meta, though he recently laid off employees working to build his so-called metaverse.
It's not all bleak for Meta, however, which has still managed to sell more headsets than anyone else. Even if you lay aside the promise of "mixed reality," the Quest 3 proves to be a worthy upgrade to the already-popular Quest 2.
Let's talk about the good news. The Quest 3 comes in a box half the size of its predecessor. It's noticeably smaller, while sporting some of the highest-quality visuals yet for VR goggles. The new "pancake lenses" (a smaller and clearer lens set) like those on the Quest Pro significantly improve on the Quest 2's bulky "fresnel" lenses. Now, you'll rarely have to adjust your headset to get it in focus, unlike the constant readjustment needed with fresnel lenses. The Quest 3 also boasts a new chipset, with snappier menu navigation and pristine graphics. While I'd advise users spring for a nicer head strap than the one provided, the Quest 3's stock strap is still more comfortable than the Quest 2's.

Then comes "pass-through" cameras — which provides video of your surroundings while your eyes are covered by the headset. I honestly expected more from a device advertised as a mixed reality entry-point. While its color image outclasses the murky grayscale of the Quest 2's cameras, its grainy video quality is still noticeably warped. It used to be impossible to make out a phone screen through a Quest 2 or Quest Pro's pass-through cameras. With the Quest 3, it's challenging but doable.
The new depth sensor and updated cameras also allow for an automatic guardian system that requires you to simply look around your play space to detect your walls, floors, ceilings and furniture. This scan creates new "spatial data" which not only keeps you from punching your walls or TV by accident, but also enables new games and experiences.
Close encounters
The Quest 3's spatial awareness led to my one truly awe-inspiring moment with the device. While playing Meta's mixed reality demo, First Encounters, I noticed the little fuzzball aliens I was attempting to capture and contain were dancing, jumping, and even hiding behind my real-life furniture. I could look out into the parts of my living room wall where the fuzzballs had broken through, and even shoot out segments of my wall to reveal an alien landscape on the other side. This short tech demo was the coolest thing I've seen so far on the headset, and it's a shame that there's not more to it.
Other mixed reality experiences included Xponential+, which features branded gym workouts from the likes of Pure Barre, Stretch Lab, and Club Pilates. You can place your holographic trainer anywhere in your room to lead you in exercises. There's also Xtadium, a sports-viewing app that allows you to watch live games from multiple angles on a giant, virtual TV.
Source: Xponential+
Another feature called "shared spatial anchors" allows for local multiplayer with games like Demeo and the upcoming Demeo: Battles by "anchoring" augmented reality objects (such as a tabletop or board game) into a fixed place in space, allowing you to see room around you while interacting with the same objects. I got to test this between my Quest 3 and Quest 2 and it worked well.
I next played Dungeons of Eternity, a new hack-and-slash game which really showed off the Quest 3's graphical enhancements, with superb lighting and more brilliant detail than what I tried on the Quest 2. Assassin's Creed Nexus VR, Asgard's Wrath II, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, and Stranger Things VR are all slated to release this year.

Dungeons of Eternity is more crisp and high-resolution on the Quest 3 than Quest 2. Will Mitchell/Meta hide caption
Dungeons of Eternity is more crisp and high-resolution on the Quest 3 than Quest 2.
It's a promising line-up, but Meta missed an opportunity to come out with a bang at launch with more than one great mixed reality experience. However, the impressive hardware could be enough to justify the $500 for existing enthusiasts and well-heeled holiday shoppers. By the time late November rolls around, there might be just enough to make mixed reality look enticing.

Ghostbusters game to be released on switch eshop this week, switch owners can soon enjoy ghostbusters: spirits unleashed – ecto edition .
Announced for the Nintendo Switch earlier this year, the eagerly awaited Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed – Ecto Edition has made its presence known on the Switch eShop, confirming its imminent arrival on October 19th.
Initially launched on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC last year, this game offers a unique co-op experience where players can take on the roles of either Ghostbusters or, well, the mischievous spirits themselves, in a series of ‘hide and seek’-style gameplay scenarios. It’s structured as a 4-vs-1 setup, wherein a squad of Proton Pack-toting heroes collaborates to apprehend elusive apparitions, a concept that may evoke memories of the Luigi’s Mansion minigame in Nintendo Land.
Players can look forward to both online and offline play options, with AI-controlled opponents available for those who wish to refine their ectoplasmic expertise in solo mode before assembling a team of paranormal investigators. The Switch’s Ecto Edition bundles the base game with all four DLC packages released in 2023. As for technical details, the game is designed to run at 30 frames per second and display in 720p resolution when in handheld mode and 1080p when docked.

The Ecto Edition includes not only the base game but also all four of the DLC drops from 2023, making it a comprehensive package. It’s a multiplayer game that accommodates players of all skill levels. You’ll be stepping into the shoes of one of four Ghostbusters equipped with proton packs, working together to capture elusive ghosts in asymmetrical multiplayer showdowns, either online or offline. As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock various cosmetics and upgrades for both the Ghostbusters and the ghosts, enhancing your gaming experience. The game is meticulously crafted to provide an immersive experience within the Ghostbusters universe, allowing fans to fulfill their ghostbusting fantasies, whether on the hunt or causing mischief.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition features an asymmetrical game mode akin to hide and seek, maintaining the developer’s 4-versus-1 structure. Players can choose to dive into the action solo or join forces with up to four friends. It offers both online and offline single-player modes, complete with bot-assisted gameplay to sharpen your skills.
The game faithfully includes all the iconic gear and gadgets expected in the Ghostbusters universe, from Proton Packs to PKE Meters and Ghost Traps. Players can fully immerse themselves in the Ghostbusters experience, regardless of their familiarity with the franchise. The ghosts, in particular, boast a range of abilities, including object possession and sliming, making haunting various locations a thrilling endeavor. Fans will recognize iconic locales like the Firehouse and Ray’s Occult Books, which serve as the game’s central hub, offering mission selection, character customization, proton pack practice, and exploration opportunities. Moreover, the original film actors, reprising their roles as Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore, will lend their voices to the game, accompanied by new characters to enhance the experience. Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition promises an immersive and entertaining ghost-hunting adventure for players of all backgrounds.

The 7th Guest VR review: a spooky ’90s remake just in time for Halloween

“The 7th Guest VR is haunted by clumsy motion controls, but satisfying puzzle design keeps this 90s PC remake alive.”
- Fun, campy story
- Classic mansion is well reimagined
- Varied, tactile puzzles
- Clumsy controls
- Frustrating late game puzzles
How do you preserve a game like The 7th Guest ? The PC classic was a groundbreaking release in 1993, offering an uncharacteristically dark game for the time with some impressive prerendered 3D graphics. Play it today, though, and that fact will be hard to glean. By today’s standards, it’s easy to mistake it for a boilerplate puzzle adventure of the era full of cheesy acting. There’s only so much a simple remaster can do to preserve the oohs and aahs of a release that old.
Return to the haunted mansion
Perhaps sensing that tension, Vertigo Games takes a very different remake approach with The 7th Guest VR . Rather than dropping a polished version of the original into a headset, the new release is a ground-up reimagining. It features the same spooky mansion, now built as a fully explorable 3D space, but that’s about all it has in common. A more fleshed-out murder mystery and an almost entirely original set of puzzles aim to imagine what The 7th Guest might have looked like were it made with today’s technical advancements.
- PlayStation VR2 adds even more games to its launch lineup
- PlayStation VR2’s launch lineup features more than just Horizon Call of the Mountain
- Sony revives a PlayStation 2 deep cut as a PS VR2 launch title
It’s a creative remake approach that finds mixed results. The 7th Guest VR works best as a campy haunted house adventure filled with intuitive escape room puzzles. That tactile fun gets complicated by the quirks of virtual reality, as fiddly motion controls offer its biggest scare of all.
While The 7th Guest VR is a fairly radical reimagining of its predecessor, it shares a lot of foundational DNA. Players are called to a spooky mansion on a dark and stormy night where they encounter a haunted house full of ghosts, puzzles, and creepy puppets. The VR remake has a lot of fun expanding the 1993 game’s story, blowing it up into a full-on murder mystery as players learn what happened to a handful of guests who were mysteriously invited to the house. It’s full of old horror tropes and supernatural camp, which makes for a fun genre throwback.
Story was an important aspect of the original 7th Guest thanks to its heavy use of pre-rendered 3D video. That put real actors into the PC game — a remarkable feat for 1993. The VR version looks to recapture that wow factor with a magic trick of its own: volumetric video. That brings its cast of ghostly actors to life, as players can fully walk around them in 3D. It’s not as groundbreaking a technical feat, but it does help pump up its cinematic charm by putting players in the center of an interactive horror movie.
The immersive nature of VR does the original game’s spooky tone justice, as the old mansion gets a suitable 3D makeover here. Each room is a Halloween delight, filled with thick cobwebs, scratched-up portraits, and dusty furniture. All of these artistic additions are where The 7th Guest VR functions best as a remake. In 2023, it’s hard to communicate how an old PC game with a goofy MIDI soundtrack and corny visuals felt genuinely unnerving at the time of release. The VR version does a great job of modernizing the ghost story, balancing light horror and playful camp. It’s more Disney’s Haunted Mansion than Phasmophobia , but that tone is a perfect match for the original.
While its campy horror aesthetics make for fun set dressing, The 7th Guest VR is more of a mixed experience when it comes to puzzles. The core gameplay loop is easy enough: Each room of the mansion is its own mini escape room filled with interconnecting puzzles. Some of those find a great balance by mixing in some cerebral brain-teasers with tactile solutions that make great use of VR. In a gross bathroom, I’m guiding cockroaches across a spider-infested wall by shooing the insects off and blocking holes in the wall with my hands. In another, I’m sticking my hand through a magician’s hat to snag items I can’t reach otherwise.
There are tons of creative interactions here, with no two puzzle rooms feeling the same. A few even pay tribute to the more board game-like nature of the original’s puzzles. A familiar logic conundrum has me placing down a handful of queens on a chess board, taking care not to put them in one another’s crosshairs. In the kitchen, a piece of frozen meat turns into a jigsaw puzzle as I reconstruct it for a witch’s brew. Puzzles like that call back to the old age of PC puzzlers while still utilizing the more modern tactile feel of VR to their advantage.
The 7th Guest VR does feel behind the tech’s potential at times.
The tech is often The 7th Guest ’s greatest hindrance, though. Through my playthrough, I experienced a number of finicky motion-controlled moments that left me pulling out my hair underneath my PSVR2. One room has me placing dolls in a guillotine, reattaching the heads to other dolls, and placing them in the right seats at a tea party. It’s a great logic puzzle in theory, but it’s an absolute pain to get the dolls into their proper positions.
In some ways, I feel like I’m critiquing VR platforms more than the game itself, but The 7th Guest VR doesn’t always design around the tech quirks. Several late-game puzzles require precision as I press piano keys or carefully tap tiny rings in a jewelry box. Those aren’t exactly easy tasks when using fat-fingered motion controls. The back half is full of annoying interactions like that, which eventually had me spending coins to auto-solve puzzles. They weren’t hard to figure out; I just was tired of wasting time with execution.
Perhaps those technical hiccups make for a more faithful experience in the end. After all, PCs had their own frustrating limitations in 1993; maybe it’s only right that a VR remake comes with the early warts of a new gaming era too. I can appreciate that on a high-concept level, but The 7th Guest VR does feel behind the tech’s potential at times. It’s a noticeably messier experience than something like The Room VR: A Dark Matter , an excellent horror puzzler from 2020 that nailed clean, motion-controlled escape room gameplay.
While I was eager to escape the mansion by the time I reached a frustrating string of final challenges, I still admire The 7th Guest VR as a left-field remake. It’s a thoughtfully considered reimagining that does a commendable job of capturing a PC classic’s haunted house energy, while still delivering an experience that’s entirely its own. If nothing else, it’s a fine way for shut-ins to spend a Halloween while hiding from trick-or-treaters.
The 7th Guest VR was reviewed on PlayStation VR2 .

PlayStation finally unveiled its starting lineup for its revamped PlayStation Plus service coming to consoles starting June 13. This new tiered membership is more in the vein of Xbox Game Pass and offers players an extensive catalog of PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and classic PlayStation titles depending on what plan is subscribed to.
This refurbishment of PlayStation Plus comes in the three tiers: Essential, extra, and premium/deluxe. These decide what add-ons and what titles one can access but each still comes with the standard Plus caveats such as playing online and getting the standard free monthly games.
On February 10, PlayStation highlighted seven new indie games in the works for PS4, PS5, and PlayStation VR. While none of the announcements were on the level of yesterday's Nintendo Direct, quite a few unique games still got their time in the spotlight. These are the seven intriguing indie games that PlayStation highlighted. Moss: Book II
The first game PlayStation showed was the sequel to Moss, one of the best VR games out there. It got a PlayStation Blog post mainly focused on world design. Polyarc explained how rooms are much bigger and interconnected in Moss: Book II, so players will have a chance to revisit areas they like and see them from different angles. Moss: Book II will be released this Spring, so it doesn't look like it will be available on the PlayStation VR2. Animal Well Animal Well - Announcement Trailer | PS5 Next, PlayStation showed a platformer for PS5 called Animal Well with a trailer and PlayStation Blog post. Just one person made this minimalist pixel-art platformer, and they plan to incorporate survival horror elements and mind-bending puzzles and secrets into the game. Animal Well will be released for PS5 sometime in late 2022 or early 2023. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge - Splinter Reveal Trailer | PS4 The highlight of today's wave of indie game announcements was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. A new trailer for the game was released and confirmed that Master Splinter is playable. A gameplay video with commentary that lasts nearly nine minutes was also uploaded and gave us our first good uncut look at how Shredder's Revenge will play. For fans of classic beat 'em up, specifically, the TMNT ones, Shredder's Revenge looks like it will be a blast from the past. It launches later this year. Post Void Post Void - Announcement Trailer | PS4 Post Void takes the prize for the weirdest announcement. The previously released PC game is like a mix between Cruelty Squad and Doom. It's a roguelike with psychedelic visuals where players will have to move fast or die. It will be released for PS4 and PS5 this spring. Salt and Sacrifice Salt and Sacrifice - Release Date Announce Trailer | PS5, PS4 Salt and Sacrifice is a sequel to Salt and Sanctuary, a Dark Souls-inspired sidescrolling action game and one of the most notable PlayStation indie games. In a new trailer and PlayStation Blog post, the developers highlighted the PvP element of Salt and Sacrifice and confirmed that it will be released for PS4 and PS5 on May 10. Samurai Gunn 2 Samurai Gunn 2 - Announcement Trailer | PS5 Samurai Gunn 2 is a fighting game where characters die in just one hit. With a new trailer and PlayStation Blog post, its developers confirmed that the game would come to PS5 and feature crossover characters and stages from popular indie games like Among Us, Spelunky 2, and Minit. Hello Neighbor 2 Hello Neighbor 2 - Pre-Order Trailer | PS5, PS4 As the final indie announcement of the day, tinyBuild games confirmed that Hello Neighbor 2 is coming to PS4 and PS5. Overview and History
Moscow takes its name from the Moskva river, where Slavic settlements began around 500AD. They adopted Christianity from the Byzantine Empire in 988 A.D., and it would last as the national religion for a thousand years.
By the 15th cent. Moscow had become the capitol of the Russian state under the Grand Duchy of Moscow, which had been busily assimilating smaller feudal territories while battling the Golden Horde of Mongols. The city was raided and burnt down by the Tatar-Mongols at least three times.
Consolidation of many smaller territories under Moscow's power set the stage for Ivan III to adopt the title of "Ruler of all of Russia." His son Ivan IV, or "Ivan the Terrible", become the first crowned Tsar of Russia.
The succession of Tsars lasted from Ivan IV until Peter the Great, who proclaimed the Russian Empire in 1721, with St. Petersburg for its capitol.
The Russian Empire survived the "Times of Troubles" which saw chaos, invasion and several uprisings of the people. Napolean Bonaparte came within 25 miles of capturing Moscow during his disastrous invasion of 1812, but was turned back after thousands of his starving troops were ambushed and killed by peasant guerilla fighters.
By the beginning of the 20th Century, Moscow was capitol, this time of the largest country in the world.
The Industrial Revolution came later to Russia than to Western Europe, partly due to Russia's institute of serfdom which kept peasants bound to the land. Soon enough however, the emergence of the Socialist political movement was loudly advocating total revolution, and by 1917 the Soviet Union replaced the Tsar and his autocratic rule. This began the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), which lasted until 1991.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Moscow continues to be the capital of Russia, or the Russian Federation as it is now known. It is still the largest single country in the world.
People and Culture
Moscow is in the grips of a western renovation, with consumerism and ostentatious displays of wealth parading everywhere. As of 2008 it is the city with the most expensive cost of living in the world, home of the most billionaires, as well as being the largest city in Europe.
Getting There
Moscow is laid out in five major sections in concentric pattern, with the Kremlin smack in the middle. The Kremlin is the administrative seat of power, and its name means "fortress." Its walls delineate the 15th century boundaries of the city.

Things to do
There are many galleries and museums in moscow but here are two favorites:
First is Modern Art Museum . and second is Winzavod - it means wine factory
In addition to these, you can visit the Museum of Geology, Museum of Aviation and Astronautics, Museum of History of Moscow.
For art lovers, try the State Tretiyakovskaya Gallerry - with a huge collection of Russian art and icons - one of the most famous russian museum after the State Hermitage in St.Petersburg.
There's also a beautiful Zoo, comparing to others in russia..
As for restaurants and clubs there's nice cafe just near the red squre - F.A.Q. Cafe - if you can read russian.
There's an old good club 'Propaganda' - it's almost 10 years but still one of the best places to go out every night! Others which are not bad are:
Recommendations
What to look for in general: Red Square, the Kremlin, the Lenin Mausoleum, the Cathedral of St. Basil, and Bely Gorod which is a shopping district.
One more beautiful old place to see in Moscow is - Novodevichiy monastery (was built in 1524 and Ivan IV became a czar there).
A good place to visit for outdoor activities is also Vorob'evi Gori (hills) - it's kind of recreation zone on the moskva river with a park and Moscow state university's main huge soviet building on the top.
Another thing you can do is go for a walk down Old Arbat, a pedestrian street with ethnic flavour of Soviet times and buildings from the time of the Russian Empire.

Ghostbusters Is Getting a Co-Op Virtual Reality Game

Listen! Do you smell something? Maybe a virtual reality game based on Ghostbusters ?
Some movie franchises lend themselves to video games. Others, not so much. It really gets down to that core idea of stepping inside the movie — which is why it makes a lot of sense to turn some of these potential movies not just into video games but virtual reality games.
For example, who wouldn’t want to try their hand at busting some ghosts with their own proton packs, PKE meters, and ghost traps? That’s the experience that will be offered by the upcoming Ghostbusters VR game that was announced today by Meta. The game is being developed by nDreams and published by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality. Ghost Corps, the division of Sony that overseas the Ghostbusters franchise, is involved in the game as well.
The teaser trailer shows off a game mechanic where multiple players — it can be played alone or with a team of up to four Ghostbusters, just like the crews from the films — work together exploring a spooky factory and encountering ghosts. The logo is pretty clever too. Take a look:
The announcement of Ghostbusters VR comes not long after the announcement of a similar game for more traditional consoles called Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed , which also features cooperative gameplay with teams of buddies trying to bust ghosts. (That game comes from Illfonic, who’ve previously adapted other movies like Friday the 13th and Predator into co-op console games.) Spirits Unleashed is due out before the end of 2022 but unfortunately, Ghostbusters VR game doesn’t have a release date yet, so it’s potentially still quite a ways off.
