Stefan & Chloe: Sailing, working and loving together since 2007 Chloe and Stefan were liveaboard cruisers (sailing in the Pacific, Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Mediterranean and Caribbean) long before they started to run crewed charters in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2015. Captain Stefan (MScEng, RYA Yachtmaster, PADI Dive Instructor) was born in Berlin, Germany, and developed a love of the wind and sea as a teenager, sailing his first dingy at age 16 and is a keen surfer, kitesurfer and freediver. He got his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, which led him to a successful career managing specialist multimillion dollar engineering projects in Europa and Australia. However, his first love was always the ocean, so he decided to return to Europe the slow way; sailing solo on his own yacht, over the Pacific Ocean...and managed to get as far as Bali before meeting Chloe; which was to change his life's course forever. After sailing all over the world together (over 45,000nm) for several years, it was time for a new project, so Stefan started designing and building luxury houseboats in Europe. 13 houseboats later, they decided it was a sailor’s life for them after all, and never looked back. Chef Chloe Chand (BA Hons, RYT Yoga Teacher, PADI Rescue Diver) was born in London, England and had a professional career in project management before developing an aversion to chairs and retrained to become a yoga instructor and teacher, working for various charities and universities. Her passion for education, the environment, spirituality and anthropology has led her all over the world – living everywhere from Barcelona to Borneo. Chloe has trained at the prestigious Ashburton Chef’s Academy in the UK and her cuisine favours fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to create healthy, rainbow-coloured and seriously flavourful recipes. European food is at the forefront of her culinary repertoire, as well as more exotic influences from her travels (including South East Asia, India and Morocco). Vegan menus are one of Chloe's specialities. Chloe and Stefan have a soulful love of the ocean and sailing, which they enjoy sharing with guests. Their warm, upbeat personalities, exceptional hospitality and joie de vivre is all part of what will make your vacation unforgettably wonderful! Chloe: Sailing, working and loving together since 2007<br /> <br /> Chloe and Stefan were liveaboard cruisers (sailing in the Pacific, Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Mediterranean and Caribbean) long before they started to run crewed charters in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2015.<br /> <br /> Captain Stefan (MScEng, RYA Yachtmaster, PADI Dive Instructor) was born in Berlin, Germany, and developed a love of the wind and sea as a teenager, sailing his first dingy at age 16 and is a keen surfer, kitesurfer and freediver. He got his master&rsquo;s degree in Mechanical Engineering, which led him to a successful career managing specialist multimillion dollar engineering projects in Europa and Australia. However, his first love was always the ocean, so he decided to return to Europe the slow way; sailing solo on his own yacht, over the Pacific Ocean...and managed to get as far as Bali before meeting Chloe; which was to change his life's course forever. After sailing all over the world together (over 45,000nm) for several years, it was time for a new project, so Stefan started designing and building luxury houseboats in Europe. 13 houseboats later, they decided it was a sailor&rsquo;s life for them after all, and never looked back.<br /> <br /> Chef Chloe Chand (BA Hons, RYT Yoga Teacher, PADI Rescue Diver) was born in London, England and had a professional career in project management before developing an aversion to chairs and retrained to become a yoga instructor and teacher, working for various charities and universities. Her passion for education, the environment, spirituality and anthropology has led her all over the world &ndash; living everywhere from Barcelona to Borneo. Chloe has trained at the prestigious Ashburton Chef&rsquo;s Academy in the UK and her cuisine favours fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to create healthy, rainbow-coloured and seriously flavourful recipes. European food is at the forefront of her culinary repertoire, as well as more exotic influences from her travels (including South East Asia, India and Morocco). Capt. Kennon Jones Originally from Georgia, Kennon has been sailing since 2011 when he decided to buy a 23’ sailboat from craigslist for $500. It was all downhill from there as sailing fever took hold. He went on to complete a two and a half year double handed circumnavigation (2018 - 2020) aboard his 1971 Tartan 34C Temujin which he still lives aboard and cruises in the off season. With over 33,000 nautical miles of experience, he holds a USCG Master Near Coastal license and works as a freelance captain for deliveries, charters, and sailing/cruising instruction. Prior to making a living on the water, Kennon worked for the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and extensively cruised the Chesapeake Bay. He has a degree in Economics and Chinese (Mandarin) from Wake Forest University and speaks Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Italian as well as bits of Indonesian, Russian, and Arabic. When not sailing Kennon enjoys scuba diving, spearfishing, wakeboarding, reading, dabbling in data science, and continuing to avoid climates where socks are necessary (though an exception is made for snow skiing). Chef Stephanie Johnson Stephanie was raised in beautiful Oregon but has spent 20 years throughout the Caribbean. She feels lucky to be able to call both naturally beautiful spots home. After graduating with a Marine Biology degree Stephanie discovered the yachting industry which combined her love of adventure, marine life, sharing food, meeting new people, and generally celebrating life. Stephanie and her husband owned their own 72ft boat for 15 incredible years. They chartered all winter and traveled in the off season. When her husband passed away she decided she wasn’t done being on the water and had more to learn and explore so, she is back for more adventure. She holds a 100ton USCG Captains license and is excited to share her cooking skills developed in the Pacific Northwest and honed on her travels around the world. Stephanie’s cooking tends to be on the lighter healthier side bringing in as many of the local ingredients as possible. However, her motto in life is, “Everything in moderation, including moderation!”

This crew deserves and yacht deserve a 20, not a 10! The boat was perfect for our group, 3 experienced and 4 non-experienced sailors. The Cat ride was far gentler than the monohull yachts I’ve sailed in the past. Such a great platform for a relaxing sail for everyone aboard. Stephanie and Kennon exceeded ALL expectations. They were always a step ahead of us on everything. They never missed a chance to help or serve regardless of what they had plate at that moment. Kennon was a rock-star regarding the itinerary, he listened to our wish list and made every day happen. Not to leave Stephanie out on this praise, she was also an integral part of our trip schedule. Her suggestions based on experience and knowledge was invaluable.

Thanks Kennon and Stephanie for making our trip so comfortable and fun. We really were blown away by the level of service and pampering we received. The food we had on the boat far exceeded what we had on land in the restaurants! Kennon was such a great dive master and captain and a better dinghy driver than we have ever seen. This was a trip we will never forget - we have never been so pampered and so well cared for. The food was excellent and Stephanie was so careful to watch for all our food issues. The way Kennon and Stephanie quietly served us graciously and looked out for every need was such a blessing. It will be rough returning to normal life after this week of paradise. They truly know how to show people hospitality. Thank you for an unbelievable week!

Stephanie and Kennon could not have done more to make our trip 5 star with no exceptions. Stephanie´s passion for the sea and the sea animals has rubbed off on me 100% at 5 months pregnant I could not have been more comfortable. We feel so lucky to have had such a perfect experience. Being on the water sailing and seeing all of the beautiful sights was awe inspiring and soul enriching But, it would not have been really as awesome had it not have been nearly as awesome had it not been for Kennon and Stephanie. I cannot think of one need or desire that they didn´t cheerfully meet. Loved getting to know them both a little because they are both such genuinely pleasant and interesting people. Trip would not have been nearly as great with out them!

My family sailed with another family on the Ventana for one week in the USVI. Michelle with Epic was fantastic throughout the selection and planning process and her insight was invaluable and much appreciated. We will work with her again and have already recommended her to other friends. The Ventana is a Lagoon 52 foot catamaran and the boat was perfect for our group. I can’t say enough good things about Captain Kennon and Chef Stephanie. From the food and beverages to the service and itinerary, it was all phenomenal and we felt completely pampered for the entire trip. They worked tirelessly so that we could relax, adventure and truly enjoy our time on vacation. We commented that it seemed not just a job for them but a true joy for them to ensure that we were happy and having fun. We would love to sail with them again!

Virgin Islands Entry Regulations

From covid to work permits and business licences.

With the health crisis is almost at an end , Covid regulations in the British Virgin Islands have changed. They have not disappeared, but transferred into a bureaucracy war of work permit and trade licences.

What that means is that your charter starting in USVI might not go to the BVI because the paperwork did not make it through. How can you be sure that your selected yacht has the necessary paperwork to go? That depends on your dates. Consult your preferences with us and we’ll be very direct about where your selected yacht is in terms of feasibility of a BVI charter. Note that the rules are subject to, often very unexpected, changes.

BVI charter guests on vacation are no longer required to register for entry clearance or show proof of travel insurance, regardless of their vaccination status. Also, there is no longer the need to present a COVID-19 test result upon arrival in the British Virgin Islands.

YACHT CHARTER SEASON IN BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

If you’re looking to charter a yacht in the BVI, you’ll want to start your search at least six months out. The main charter season in the BVI spans from December to March, with a peak around Christmas/New Year. Notice the interesting months of April and November, which offer reasonable deals in the British Virgin Islands.

By the beginning of summer, the best choices for peak dates are booked. It’s not unseen to have clients inquire 2 years ahead – the value for money First minute vs. Last minute is unbelievable. There still are “deals” on last minute charters that rarely have to do with last minute cancellations.

A beautiful island in the British Virgin Islands, Jost Van Dyke is a must-see for yacht charters looking to experience some of the best scuba diving in the world. The waters around the Jost Van Dyke land are flourishing with marine life- creating an incredible opportunity for snorkeling and other water sports.

Even though it is one of the smallest leeward islands in the  BVI , the yacht charters will be treated to  spectacular scenery  and authentic experiences in Jost Van Dyke. Don’t miss a visit to the Great Harbour Bars of Foxy’s and Ivan’s for a drink, the peaceful energy of Diamond Cay, and the crashing waves of Bubbly Pool.

Virgin Gorda

Virgin Gorda is the third largest island in the British Virgin Islands, with just over 4,000 people. It’s known for its beautiful white sands, the rock pools known as The Baths, and world-class luxury resorts and clubs for BVI yacht charters. There are also some great hiking trails on Virgin Gorda with sweeping views of the island’s coastline-making it an ideal destination for visitors with  bareboat catamarans .

After soaking up the sunshine and saltwater activities in Virgin Gorda, consider visiting the Copper Mine National Park. These 19th-century abandoned ruins are found between Copper Mine Bay and Crooks Bay on the island’s southeastern point. The structures were built by Cornish miners and housed around 130 families before the mine was closed in 1862.

This tiny island is arguably one of the most pristine places in the world, and it makes sense why it has become synonymous with white sand beaches. Loblolly Beach, Bay Beach, and Cow Wreck Beach are not to be missed in BVI yacht charters.

Anegada sea is also home to the largest barrier coral reef in the Caribbean. You’ll find turtles, nurse sharks, stingrays, and even manta rays!

Catamaran Altesse Overview

Altesse is a beautiful 2013 Lagoon 560, able to accommodate 8 guests in 4 queen size cabins, or 3 queen cabins and a bunk cabin for kids. All cabins have en-suite bathrooms.

Lagoon 560s are one of the most popular charter boats on the market due to the yacht’s bright and spacious cabins, beautiful internal relaxation areas and wide range of comfortable lounging and dining spaces.

In 2015 Altesse went through a full refit to specifically enhance the experience for charter guests with additions such as a full dining area on the flybridge with an extra BBQ and dining table installed, enhancements to the interior to give her a sophisticated European twist and a custom built 'champagne deck' which extends the cockpit and offers a unique and hugely popular additional relaxation and jumping area.

The yacht has a 70HP dinghy, inclusive diving for up to five guests, new water toys (including an 8 man floating island), updated linen, crockery and furnishings throughout as well as a wine cellar featuring a range of superior French organic wine.

Green Initiative

Purified drinking water made on board. Reusable water bottles available for use on board. The crew are conscious about the beautiful environment in which we live. We use environmentally-friendly and locally-sourced products wherever possible. We plant two trees per charter, in order to offset the carbon emissions created during charter. We also support a variety of local charities, including ARK (Association of Reef Keepers), PAWs (Promoting Animal Welfare), FSN (Family Support Network for victims of domestic violence) and Seeds of Love (reforestation project).

Meet the Crew

Capt. Kennon Jones

Originally from Georgia, Kennon has been sailing since 2011 when he decided to buy a 23’ sailboat from craigslist for $500. It was all downhill from there as sailing fever took hold. He went on to complete a two and a half year double handed circumnavigation (2018 - 2020) aboard his 1971 Tartan 34C Temujin which he still lives aboard and cruises in the off season. With over 33,000 nautical miles of experience, he holds a USCG Master Near Coastal license and works as a freelance captain for deliveries, charters, and sailing/cruising instruction. Prior to making a living on the water, Kennon worked for the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and extensively cruised the Chesapeake Bay. He has a degree in Economics and Chinese (Mandarin) from Wake Forest University and speaks Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Italian as well as bits of Indonesian, Russian, and Arabic. When not sailing Kennon enjoys scuba diving, spearfishing, wakeboarding, reading, dabbling in data science, and continuing to avoid climates where socks are necessary (though an exception is made for snow skiing). ..read more

Chef Stephanie Johnson

Stephanie was raised in beautiful Oregon but has spent 20 years throughout the Caribbean. She feels lucky to be able to call both naturally beautiful spots home. After graduating with a Marine Biology degree Stephanie discovered the yachting industry which combined her love of adventure, marine life, sharing food, meeting new people, and generally celebrating life.

Stephanie and her husband owned their own 72ft boat for 15 incredible years. They chartered all winter and traveled in the off season. When her husband passed away she decided she wasn’t done being on the water and had more to learn and explore so, she is back for more adventure. She holds a 100ton USCG Captains license and is excited to share her cooking skills developed in the Pacific Northwest and honed on her travels around the world.

Stephanie’s cooking tends to be on the lighter healthier side bringing in as many of the local ingredients as possible. However, her motto in life is, Everything in moderation, including moderation!”

We had a fabulous time with Stefan and Chloe. They took wonderful care of our family and we felt like we left two new friends behind when we departed to return home.

Altesse was beautiful and very comfortable for us. We spent a lot of time on the flybridge, so that was probably our favorite spot on the yacht. The grandkids loved the water toys, especially the paddle boards and pull-behind.

Chloe is an excellent chef and we had great meals which were very well presented. She paid close attention to our preference sheet and was well informed as to what we preferred.

We have sailed the BVIs three times previously so, obviously we love the area. Stefan tailored the itinerary to get in all our favorite spots.

WOW! That’s the best way to describe the time aboard Altesse. The service was to no other, Stephine and Kennon always made sure we were comfortable and were well taken care of. Kennon is a great Captain and we always felt safe knowing he was in charge. They both worked very well together and always were one step ahead of our needs. I knew the food was going to be good… BUT Stephine took it to another level. The food was AMAZING!! We were glad we didn’t put any restrictions on her and let her do what she is good at! The boat was very spacious and we never felt like we were on top of one another. Kennon and Stephine were always on top of keeping the boat in tip top shape. Never once did I feel like the boat was cluttered or dirty! The sleeping quarters were more comfortable then I thought they were going to be… the beds were very comfortable. Capt. Kennon Jones Originally from Georgia, Kennon has been sailing since 2011 when he decided to buy a 23’ sailboat from craigslist for $500. It was all downhill from there as sailing fever took hold. He went on to complete a two and a half year double handed circumnavigation (2018 - 2020) aboard his 1971 Tartan 34C Temujin which he still lives aboard and cruises in the off season. With over 33,000 nautical miles of experience, he holds a USCG Master Near Coastal license and works as a freelance captain for deliveries, charters, and sailing/cruising instruction. Prior to making a living on the water, Kennon worked for the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and extensively cruised the Chesapeake Bay. He has a degree in Economics and Chinese (Mandarin) from Wake Forest University and speaks Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Italian as well as bits of Indonesian, Russian, and Arabic. When not sailing Kennon enjoys scuba diving, spearfishing, wakeboarding, reading, dabbling in data science, and continuing to avoid climates where socks are necessary (though an exception is made for snow skiing). Chef Stephanie Johnson Stephanie was raised in beautiful Oregon but has spent 20 years throughout the Caribbean. She feels lucky to be able to call both naturally beautiful spots home. After graduating with a Marine Biology degree Stephanie discovered the yachting industry which combined her love of adventure, marine life, sharing food, meeting new people, and generally celebrating life. Stephanie and her husband owned their own 72ft boat for 15 incredible years. They chartered all winter and traveled in the off season. When her husband passed away she decided she wasn’t done being on the water and had more to learn and explore so, she is back for more adventure. She holds a 100ton USCG Captains license and is excited to share her cooking skills developed in the Pacific Northwest and honed on her travels around the world. Stephanie’s cooking tends to be on the lighter healthier side bringing in as many of the local ingredients as possible. However, her motto in life is, “Everything in moderation, including moderation!”

Altesse is a beautiful 2013 Lagoon 560, which accommodates up to 8 guests in 4 cabins. Lagoon 560s are widely acknowledged as the best charter boats available, due to their bright and spacious cabins, beautiful dining areas and the plethora of comfortable relaxation spaces.

Altesse had a full refit in 2015 and 2017 to specifically enhance the charter experience of our guests.   

Altesse features a unique sunbathing/ stargazing 'champagne aft deck', as well as a 'sunset lounge' and a spacious flybridge, where guests can enjoy the sailing or sit back with a delicious Caribbean cocktail.

Within her 56ft of magnificence, she is now equipped with full dining capabilities on the flybridge, including an extra BBQ and installed dining table, Altesse is perfect for any occasion. There is a custom built “Champagne Deck” which extends the cockpit and offers a very popular relaxation and jump off area. Adding to all the fun featured on Altesse, there is now all new water toys including an 8-man floating island and a new 70hp dinghy with inclusive diving for up to 5 guests! The refined taste of the French owner is shown throughout the yacht by the new furnishing, linen and crockery. Not to mention a wine cellar stocked with a range of superior organic French wines. This yacht sleeps up to 8 guest in 4 spacious queen sized cabins or 3 queen sized cabins and a bunk cabin, perfect for kids! The crew are flexible and happy to move between the bunk room and a queen cabin, depending on the requirements of your group. All cabins are en-suite with a private toilet and shower, and fully air-conditioned with individual controls. Full dining and BBQ is available on the flybridge.

Rating of Yacht & Crew: 5 Was the yacht comfortable and clean? The boat was in great shape, very clean. the crew stepped in and kept the boat clean and picked up the whole trip! perfect Was the yacht well ventilated? yes the crew kept the rooms nice and cool! made for very comfortable, showering, sleeping etc. Was the crew friendly and accommodating? We could not have been any happier! Kennin the captain went beyond our expectations to make sure our drinks were full and our comfort was concern #1. Stephine’s meals were off the hook. she made us feel like we were at home the entire time! Was the food good and well presented? Unbelievable! off the hook! every morning the crew was up way before we were making sure the coffee was hot when we came up. the breakfast were way more then we could have expected! now were close to a continental breakfast. I can’t even begin to explain the flavor, the presentation was amazing. table was set to perfection, napkin folding was always fun to see. I just can’t say enough how great it was. We had one of our people that had a aversion to spicy. Stephine made him a seperater version of the same thing we all had to make sure he was happy. she took some food allergies for others and designed the menu around them. again off the hook! I would put her up against some of the best chiefs ! 8. Additional comments about the yacht and crew? We will be hard pressed to find a better crew. they work so well together. totally seemless and effortlessly. Cruising Area

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS (“ Terms ”) CAREFULLY AS THEY CONTAIN IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS, REMEDIES AND OBLIGATIONS AS WELL AS A SECTION GOVERNING THE JURISDICTION AND VENUE OF DISPUTES. THESE TERMS ALSO CONTAIN A LEGALLY BINDING RELEASE, WAIVER OF LIABILITY, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. By creating a username, a login, clicking submit, using the services of Charter Experts, LLC d/b/a Virgin Island Sailing® (“ Broker ) or by accessing Broker’s website, you agree that you have read, and acknowledge your acceptance of these Terms. The Terms are subject to change at any time without notice at Broker’s sole discretion. Additionally, any transaction for which you have made payment shall be governed by the form of Terms in effect at the time of such payment notwithstanding any subsequent changes hereto.

If you are obtaining a quote, information, booking travel for and/or securing or procuring a Charter (as that term is defined in Section 1 below) for more than just yourself, all references below to “Charterer” or “you” (and derivations thereof) shall be read to mean you on behalf of yourself and each individual within your group for whom you are obtaining a quote, information, booking travel for and/or securing or procuring Charter.

These Terms shall be read together and construed, to the fullest extent possible, to be in concert with any other agreement by or among Broker and Charterer. To the extent they cannot be so construed, then in the event of any direct conflict between these Terms and any other agreement by or among Broker and Charterer (including but not limited to the agreement executed by Charterer for a Charter Reservation (as that term is defined in Section 1 below), these Terms shall prevail.

• Prepaid Charter Reservations . Typically, Broker negotiates charter rates in advance with the yacht owner or charter company (“ Charter Provider ”) to obtain cost-effective rates, and facilitate reservations and availability for yacht charters, excursions and travel (the “ Charter ”). Broker also provides services to you by facilitating the booking of reservations for consideration and receives a commission from the Charter Provider (the “ Broker Fee ”). The Broker Fee is included in the pre-negotiated Charter rate provided to you, plus taxes and other fees where applicable. You agree that your payment is for the total amount set forth in the applicable Charter agreement (which Charter Provider may refer to as a Charter Contract, Charter Agreement, Booking Terms & Conditions, Instructions and Terms for Accommodations, as well as other derivations) provided to you by Broker (“ Charter Agreement ”). Upon execution of the Charter Agreement and receipt of the applicable deposit, you will have made a reservation for the Charter that authorizes Broker to facilitate the Charter on your behalf (“Charter Reservation”), including making payment arrangements with the Charter Provider. You further agree that Broker is a third-party beneficiary to the Charter Agreement and shall have the right to enforce such agreement to the extent it deems such enforcement necessary or advisable to protect its rights hereunder or under the Charter Agreement.

  Broker retains the Broker Fee as compensation in arranging your Charter Reservation. The Broker Fee varies based on the amount and type of Charter and/or services provided by Broker.  By making a Charter Reservation, you accept and agree to the relevant cancellation and no-show policy of the Charter Provider set forth in the Charter Agreement. Cancellation and no-show policies vary for each Charter. Carefully read the Charter Agreement and additional information provided to you by Broker. It is expressly agreed by Charterer that the Broker Fee is earned at the time the Charter Reservation is made. Late payment, wrong credit card or debit card details, invalid credit or debit cards, or insufficient funds are for your own risk and account, and you will not be entitled to any refund of any prepaid amount unless the Charter Provider expressly agrees otherwise under the Charter Agreement or in some other signed writing.

• Charter Rules and Restrictions . Additional terms and agreements will apply to your Charter Reservation and any purchase or rental of equipment or other items, supplies, provisions and travel you may select. Please read those additional terms carefully. In particular, if you have purchased airfare, please ensure that you read the full terms and conditions of carriage issued by the supplier. You agree to abide by the terms of purchase imposed by any supplier with whom you elect to deal, including but not limited to payment of all amounts when due and compliance with the supplier’s rules and restrictions regarding availability, charges, fares, and use of products and services.
• Payment . All payments must be made by personal check, bank/wire transfer, ACH payment and/or with a major credit card unless otherwise expressly stated. The total price for the Charter Reservation will be billed in U.S. Dollars unless otherwise stated. Some banks and credit card companies impose fees for international transactions. If you are making a reservation from outside of the United States on a US credit card, your bank may convert the payment amount to your local currency and charge you a conversion fee. This means the amount listed on your credit or bank card statement may be in your local currency and therefore a different figure than the amount provided by Broker for the Charter Reservation. In addition, a foreign transaction fee may be assessed if the financial institution that issued your credit card is located outside of the United States. Booking international travel may be considered to be an international transaction by the financial institution or card company. The currency exchange rate and foreign transaction fee is determined solely by your financial institution on the day that it processes the transaction. If you have any questions about these fees or the exchange rate applied to your booking, please contact your financial institution. Broker shall not be liable to you for any such service, conversion, or exchange fee.

  Broker expressly reserves the right to cancel your Charter Reservation if full payment is not timely received as set forth in the Charter Agreement.

• Cancellation and Rescheduling . You may cancel or change your Charter Reservation as set forth in the Charter Agreement by and among you, the Charter Provider and/or Broker. Please note that some Charter Providers do not permit changes to or cancellation of reservations after they are made, or after a certain date, as indicated in the Charter Agreement. You agree to abide by the terms of the Charter Agreement with respect to your Charter Reservation. Broker will not be responsible for reimbursing Charterer for any previously tendered deposits or payments by Charterer and disclaims all liability for the failure of a Charter Provider to refund or return any such funds.
• Credit Card Transactions and Chargebacks . If for any reason, any Charter Provider is unable to provide the Charter, or any part thereof, for which you have contracted, your remedy lies against the Charter Provider, and not against Broker. However, Broker will use reasonable efforts to assist you and Charter Provider in reaching a resolution to a dispute between you and the Charter Provider. In the event that your payment has already been transferred from Broker to Charter Provider or to an escrow account, you agree that you will not seek a chargeback against Broker for such amounts transferred. You further agree to indemnify and hold Broker harmless from and against any liability, loss, damage or expense (including without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees) that Broker may incur in connection with chargebacks against Broker or under the Charter Agreement and your performance thereunder. If Broker incurs any costs, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, to recover any payments charged back by your credit card company or other financial institution, you agree that you will be liable for these costs. If your payment is declined for any reason, you agree to settle any amounts owed to Broker via money order, cashier’s check, personal check or bank/ACH transfer immediately.
• Broker Responsibility . Broker makes arrangements with the Charter Provider. Broker additionally makes additional arrangements with other suppliers for the various components and other services that comprise your Charter (“Charter Suppliers”). Broker is not an agent of these Charter Providers or the Charter Suppliers (and the Charter Providers and Charter Suppliers are not agents of Broker). Broker expressly disclaims any liability for the actions or omissions of the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers. The Charter Providers and the Charter Suppliers reserve the right to refuse service to you at their sole discretion. Broker assumes no liability for the acts of the Charter Provider or the Charter Suppliers in refusing service. Broker is not responsible for schedule changes and does not offer compensation for those changes. Broker is not responsible under any circumstances for any injury or damages you may suffer, in connection with sea, air or ground transportation, hotel accommodations, or other travel or excursion services arranged by Broker.

  You understand Broker is not the source or supplier of the Charter or other travel services you requested and acts solely as a broker for the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers. You agree that the Charter Provider and Charter Suppliers whose names appear in the information supplied to you are those who are solely responsible for providing the Charter you purchase. You consent to and request the use of the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers and agree to not hold Broker responsible should any of them: (i) fail to provide the Charter or travel services you purchased, whether or not such services are listed in the Charter Agreement or otherwise, (ii) fail to comply with any applicable law, or (iii) engage in any negligent act or omission that causes you any sort of injury, damage, delay or inconvenience.

By using Broker’s services, you waive and release any claim against Broker, its affiliated and subsidiary companies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents, arising out of or in connection with any loss of or damage to property or injury to any person caused by reason of (i) any defect, negligence, or other wrongful act or omission, or any failure of performance of any kind, by any Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, or any other provider of sea, airline, hotel, ground transportation or any other travel provider connected to or otherwise associated with the Charter, (ii) any claim for inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, mental distress or other similar claim, (iii) any delayed departure, missed connection, substitute accommodation, termination of service or change in fares or rates, and (iv) overbooking, flight or other travel cancellation, lost or misconnected personal property, or any claim arising out of the air transportation portion of your travel, and (v) or any other claim arising out of or otherwise related to the Charter Agreement or services provided by the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers.

Excepting only liability that directly arises from the gross negligence or willful misconduct of Broker, you will not hold Broker responsible for any injury, damage or loss you may suffer while on a Charter, whether incurred on the Charter or in connection with any other rental, purchase, excursion or activity, regardless of the relationship of any of the foregoing with the Charter Provider or the Charter Suppliers.

• Your Responsibility . By booking a Charter with Broker, you agree to defend and indemnify and hold harmless Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any and all claims, causes of action, demands, recoveries, losses, damages, fines, penalties or other costs or expenses of any kind or nature, including but not limited to reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in connection with: (i) your breach of these Terms or the documents referenced herein; (ii) your violation of any law or rights of a third party; or (iii) your use of the Broker website.

You will review your Charter Agreement and travel documents for accuracy upon receipt. You understand that it is your responsibility to review the accuracy of all details in the Charter Reservation provided to you, and that you may contact Broker if you have any questions.

You assume full and complete responsibility for checking and verifying any and all passport, visa, vaccination, or other entry requirements of your destination(s), and all conditions regarding health, safety, security, political stability, and labor or civil unrest at such destination(s).

You understand that Broker recommends purchasing travel insurance to cover certain risks inherent in travel such as supplier bankruptcy and the inability to travel due to a medical or personal emergency.

• No Warranties . All Charters, products, services, advice and information is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied to the fullest extent permitted under the law, including but not limited to, warranties of title or implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality or fitness for a particular purpose. Without limiting the above, no warranty or guarantee is made (i) regarding the acceptance of any reservation request or Charter Reservation; (ii) regarding the availability of Charters, or any other product and/or services through Broker; (iii) that the use of Broker’s website will be error-free; or (iv) regarding the completeness, accuracy, reliability or quality of any information, content, data, service, advice or merchandise provided by Broker or through Broker’s website.

Broker has no special knowledge regarding the Charter Provider’s or Charter Supplier’s financial condition, unsafe conditions, health hazards, weather hazards, or climate extremes at locations to which you may travel during or otherwise in connection with your Charter.

• Limitation on Liability . In no event shall Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, and/or their respective affiliates, or any employees, agents, officers, directors, members or managers of any of the foregoing (“Broker and Charter Releasees”), be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of, or in any way connected with, your access to, display of or use the Broker’s website, the Charter or services provided to you in connection with the Charter (including, but not limited to, your reliance upon opinions of the Broker), whether based on a theory of negligence, contract, tort, strict liability, consumer protection statutes, or otherwise, and even if Broker and/or any other of the Broker and Charter Releasees have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

If, despite the limitation above, Broker or the Broker and Charter Releasees are found liable for any loss or damage which arises out of or in any way connected with any of the occurrences described above, then Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Supplier and the Broker and Charter Releasees will in no event exceed, in the aggregate, the greater of (a) the Broker Fee, and (b) One-Hundred Dollars (US $100.00).

The foregoing limitation of liability reflects the allocation of risk between the parties. The limitations specified in this section will survive and apply even if any limited remedy specified in these Terms is found to have failed of its essential purpose. The limitations of liability provided in these Terms inure to the benefit of Broker and/or its providers.

The foregoing does not affect any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

• Limitation on Time to File Claims . ANY CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM YOU MAY HAVE ARISING OUT OF RELATING TO BROKER’S SERVICES OR THE WEBSITE MUST BE COMMENCED WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE CAUSE OF ACTION ACCRUES, OTHERWISE, SUCH CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM IS PERMANENTLY BARRED.
• Waiver . No waiver by Broker of any term or condition set forth in these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or condition or a waiver of any other term or condition, and any failure of the Broker to assert a right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
• Severability . If any provision of these Terms is held by a court or other tribunal of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be eliminated or limited to the minimum extent such that the remaining provisions of the Terms will continue in full force and effect.
• Governing Law and Mandatory Venue . The laws of the State of Florida govern the rights and obligations of the parties to this Agreement and the interpretation, construction and enforceability thereof. You agree that any action or proceeding initiated by Charterer against Broker shall be brought solely in the federal and state courts of Hillsborough County, Florida, and you submit to the jurisdiction of those courts and waive any objections to the exercise of personal jurisdiction over you by those courts. In the event any action or proceeding is initiated by Charterer in a court outside of Hillsborough County, Florida, Charterer agrees to pay Broker’s costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees associated with defending such action or proceeding and waives any and all defenses to the transfer of said action or proceeding, whether jurisdictional or otherwise, to a federal or state court in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Yacht charter

This Lagoon catamaran is the perfect yacht for a crewed yacht charter around the Caribbean. Altesse can accommodate up to 8 guests in four cabins; one master cabin and three doubles. The yacht is bright and spacious, with comfortable interior and exterior lounging and dining spaces. There are plenty of areas to relax with family and friends! She has a full-bimini covered fly bridge dining table to enjoy cocktails and canapés whilst taking in the stunning 360 degree scenery.

We visited the catamaran Altesse during the yacht charter show in US Virgin Islands in November 2022. Altesse won: Best Yacht in Show – 51’-60’

Main features

WEEKLY CHARTER RATE 2024/2025: Caribbean Virgin Islands (US/BVI), Caribbean Virgin Islands (US), Caribbean Virgin Islands (BVI) Weekly charter rate: $29,500 (2 passengers) Weekly charter rate: $30,000 (3 passengers) Weekly charter rate: $30,500 (4 passengers) Weekly charter rate: $31,000 (5 passengers) Weekly charter rate: $31,500 (6 passengers) Weekly charter rate: $32,500 (7 passengers) Weekly charter rate: $34,500 (8 passengers)

Prices include: All services, food and standard bar, all water sport activities, taxes and cruising licence fees.

Extra costs are: -Vintage wines, champagne, special requests, dockage, harbour dues, onboard communications, airport transfers and crew gratuity.

-Altesse offers onboard diving. They include 3 dives a week and $50 per person for each additional dive up to 5 total for the week. They do not offer night dives. Up to 6 certified divers at a time, max 1 dive per day, payable aboard to yacht crew.

Crew Gratuity: Although discretionary, a crew gratuity of 20% of the charter fee is customary.

CYBA/MYBA terms will apply.

Payment conditions: 50% of the charter rate within 7 days of signing the charter agreement, remaining 50% plus VAT plus APA, at least 5 weeks before the beginning of the charter.

Captain: Kennon Jones Originally from Georgia, Kennon has been sailing since 2011 when he decided to buy a 23’ sailboat from craigslist for $500. It was all downhill from there as sailing fever took hold. He went on to complete a two and a half year double handed circumnavigation (2018 - 2020) aboard his 1971 Tartan 34C Temujin which he still lives aboard and cruises in the off season. With over 33,000 nautical miles of experience, he holds a USCG Master Near Coastal license and works as a freelance captain for deliveries, charters, and sailing/cruising instruction. Prior to making a living on the water, Kennon worked for the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and extensively cruised the Chesapeake Bay. He has a degree in Economics and Chinese (Mandarin) from Wake Forest University and speaks Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Italian as well as bits of Indonesian, Russian, and Arabic. When not sailing Kennon enjoys scuba diving, spearfishing, wakeboarding, reading, dabbling in data science, and continuing to avoid climates where socks are necessary (though an exception is made for snow skiing).

Chef: Stephanie Johnson Stephanie was raised in beautiful Oregon but has spent 20 years throughout the Caribbean. She feels lucky to be able to call both naturally beautiful spots home. After graduating with a Marine Biology degree Stephanie discovered the yachting industry which combined her love of adventure, marine life, sharing food, meeting new people, and generally celebrating life. Stephanie and her husband owned their own 72ft boat for 15 incredible years. They chartered all winter and traveled in the off season. When her husband passed away she decided she wasn’t done being on the water and had more to learn and explore so, she is back for more adventure. She holds a 100ton USCG Captains license but, on Ventana, she is excited to share her cooking skills developed in the Pacific Northwest and honed on her travels around the world.

Stephanie’s cooking tends to be on the lighter healthier side bringing in as many of the local ingredients as possible. However, her motto in life is, “Everything in moderation, including moderation!”

This yacht offers all inclusive pricing

Four cabins accommodate as many as eight guests. She is versatile, as you can choose from four queen cabins or three queen cabins and one twin bunk cabin. This allows you to choose what will work best for your charter group. All cabins offer en-suite facilities.

Her main salon features a set in table with U shaped lounge for both dining and conversation. The aft deck offers al fresco dining and lounge across the back. She also features a champagne deck with sun pads for extra enjoyment of the views. Further al fresco dining and unobstructed views can be enjoyed up on the flybridge.

Steps descend either side of the aft deck to a swim platform, affording you and your guests easy water access. For watersports Altesse features a tender for 8 with 70hp engine, water skis for adults and children, kneeboard, tube, wakeboard, double kayak, two standup paddleboard, fishing gear, snorkeling gear, underwater camera, sea scooter, and rendezvous diving.

Rendezvous diving

If your crewed charter yacht does not offer onboard diving then fear not, rendezvous diving can be arranged.

So what is Rendezvous diving?

A local dive company will pick you up direct from your charter yacht at a pre-determined location and take you for a one- or two-tank dive to experience the BVI below the water. This is an excellent option if only a couple of guests wish to dive or can work equally as well if all your group are interested. If your charter yacht offers minimal onboard diving, then rendezvous diving can also work if you wanted to add a few more dives during your charter.

Rendezvous diving is at additional cost, payable locally. The dive company provides all gear.

She is the only  Lagoon 560  with a champagne deck (the favorite place for all her guests) and a dining table on the flybridge. Additionally, Altesse now has a super-sized bimini providing ample shade across the flybridge, where you can enjoy lunch with a view and a cool breeze.

“The Altesse was immaculate. Richard and Sarah take real pride in maintaining it perfectly every day.

The yacht charter was highly conducive to diverse preferences and activities, with plenty to do.

A serious highlight of the trip was that Sarah’s an incredible chef. The food was perfectly tailored to our preferences with no effort, and each dish was perfectly perfect. I’m talking about picture-worthy food! Even Richard pitched in on the grill several times, which was fantastic.

Richard is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and sailing in general. He has excellent ideas about anchorages and takes pride in taking folks to places he thinks they’ll love. He taught us to water ski, makes great painkillers, and has some great stories too!

There is no describing how perfect it was, and I can’t imagine that there’s a better crew or even a better pair of humans to spend your vacation with than Sarah and Richard Bowman.
