For more than nine decades, Montauk Yacht Club has been an integral fixture on Star Island, harkening back to 1928 when entrepreneurial urban developer Carl Fisher first opened the property as a private social club on the North Shore of Long Island. Love the food and the location always fresh food with a great view. Casual dining with five star food.

I no idea why the pin is in the middle of the sea? This place is in Star Island and within Yacht Club Marian. Why map has to be so confusing? Finally, we went to the island for my breakfast with my husband and our dog. The place is in the Yacht Club Marina. Pet friendly and warm welcome. The morning we went wasn't busy at all and it was raining but we were happy to have place to sit. The breakfast was American style, and the view was extraordinary! I can't imagine in summer night this place is probably pack!

Interesting to see such polarization in the reviews! I saw it as a mix of both without ever crossing into either extreme. In general the appetizers were good, not great. The blackened fish over a Caesar salad for my main meal was a safe bet I was very happy with. The best part about going here was that it was able to accommodate a very large group without a reservation. This alone is a feature and not a bug since it is a solid average meal. It is also a stop on one (is there more than one?) of the "booze" cruises that are available to be booked in Montauk. Thus, use that as a guide for where to place this on the scale of what you are looking for in a place to eat.

We had breakfast there this morning, service, food and ambiance was great! The kids love fed the fish and we enjoy a after breakfast frozen mudslide !

Saving the best Montauk review for last. If I'm not staying in Montauk and I caught fish, I'd put my fish bootie in the cooler and drive home to soak those mamasitas in buttermilk. But if your staying at a hotel and catch a bunch of fish, what do you do?? Enter the Star Island Yacht Club & Marina. Back in the day there was a Chinese food place on Main st that would cook your catch. Outta business. I asked the guys on the Lazy Bones where the heck am I going to have my catch cooked? They all said go to Star Island Yacht Club & Marina, they'll do it all right. Now I don't have a fish story to tell. It's not one or two fish to cook but the biggest damn fish caught on the boat that day. We're talkin' fish baby! We drive in and and see a cool sign, You caught it, we'll cook it. Whew. The ladies are saying, we smell like bait, lets go back and shower, yada yada yada. All I'm thinking about is my fish has a shelf life and can this dude cook all this fish?? Oh hell yes. We're driving into the Marina and see all the boats, with a sign to the restaurant. We walk in like four fish hunters. We talk to the people behind the counter and ask, can you cook all this fish? The chef nods and takes everything from us. We ordered a few sides while waiting for our main course. Then, it all came out at once. What I'm looking at was insane! Fish tacos, deep fried fish, broiled fish, blackened fish, pan fried fish, fish!!!! The chef was a true chef, everything was cooked perfectly. OMG, we ate like champs. And we had leftovers! We brought the fish back to the hotel and had lunch poolside the next day. I don't know about the actual marina but the restaurant at Star Island Yacht Club & Marina was awesome. If you catch fish on your trip, you need to come to "The Yacht Club". Pinkie up!

Just left the yacht club....well actually got chased out by Alex the dock manager. My wife and I were enjoying amazing cocktails at the bar. Def try the dirty banana! The approach Alex used to have us move our boat to a slip was totally unnecessary and left a horrible taste in our mouths. We wanted to go into the store to buy multiple items but after the manager Alex was done talking to us. We just left. And we won't be back ! If I could do less than 1 star I would.

Brought our catch here, had 4 different preparations and everything was amazing. So many layers of flavor, fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation We'll be back soon to try regular menu !

Called ahead and brought our catch of fluke and porgy in to make some tacos to go. They asked for about 30 minutes, we stayed and had a beer (which they also allow you to walk out with to enjoy the marina), then came back in to claim the prepared meal. Made an incredible set of 24 tacos, half blackened and half fried - both equally delicious! I love fish tacos and these were likely the best I've ever had. Fish was cooked perfectly. Seaweed salad, a slightly spicy sauce, and other crunchy and perfectly cooked fresh veggies were all excellent and gave them a slightly Asian flare. Thoroughly enjoyed and will continue bringing our catches here

The freshly renovated Montauk Yacht Club is the one-stop destination in the Hamptons. With its own private beach and the addition of a restaurant, spa, market, and storefront, there’s no need to leave the beautifully manicured property. Located on Star Island, the historic resort spanning 35 acres is now part of Proper Hospitality within The Collective. From the team behind the upscale Mavericks Montauk, Vanessa Price and Jeremy Blutstein have perfected the local fish sandwich and the famed BBC frozen cocktail as well as the campy beach bar aesthetic, sporting vibrant turquoise walls decorated with surf memorabilia and photographs from French photographer Jean-Philippe Piter.

For a traditional Italian meal head to Monte’s at the Manor , serving classic dishes from linguini vongole to chicken parmesan in a cozy restaurant complete with red leather banquets and framed family photos. Former owners of Gurney’s, the Monte family has called Montauk home for over 100 years, and the warmth and hospitality exudes from the restaurant, tucked away in the Tudor-style national landmark, Montauk Manor. Their famed tomato sauce is a must and served perfectly with melted mozzarella in the spot’s signature “Stretch” appetizer.

Backyard Restaurant at Solé East

The Backyard Restaurant at Solé East has been refreshed by designer Stephane Depoux and now includes a handsome bar and chic outdoor furnishings overlooking the lush garden and pool of the charming hotel. This hidden oasis offers a relaxing atmosphere to have a drink or nosh on local seafood and farm-to-table produce, all prepared with a Mediterranean and South American influence.

Where to See Art

Brazilian-born artist The o Pinto has taken over The Surf Lodge with his iridescent series “Skyscapes.” Using the sunset as a muse, this exploration of light is showcased throughout The Surf Lodge property—even its new Mediterranean and Asian fusion restaurant concept, Casa Sereña. Pinto created a 40-foot-long curved wall that is the centerpiece for the Surf Lodge ’s famed DJ sets and concerts. “This work invites viewers to experience the sky as a shared moment, a common denominator that unites people across time and space, both physically and cosmically,” explains Pinto, who also created a limited-edition surfboard made from the same lenticular materials emulating the ever-changing hues of the sunset.

Head over to Montauk Beach House for its rotating photography exhibitions of trending photographers Jesse Frohman, Ruvan Wijesooriya, and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This lobby exhibition space, led by Montauk Beach House’s creative director Walt Lindveld, brings some Rock n’ Roll to the Hamptons.

Where to Shop

Dolce & Gabbana collaborated with Gurney ’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa for its first-ever beachfront takeover in the United States. The resort’s Beach Club has been draped in the rich blue and white Blu Mediterraneo and Majolica prints, adorning the umbrellas, cabanas, beach chairs, and linens, while the East Deck houses a luxury pop-up shop featuring a curated selection of Dolce&Gabbana ready-to-wear and beach accessories. At the end of your visit, you may have a hard time deciphering the East Coast from the Amalfi Coast.

Mid-1900s: Montauk Cliffs

Here's a shot of Montauk's picturesque cliffs taken many years ago. The region is known for its sky-high bluffs, serene beaches, and surf-worthy waves.

1937: A Presidential Visit

President Franklin D. Roosevelt vacationed in Montauk in the 1930s. Here, a group of news cameramen and reporters surround his yacht, the U.S.S. Potomac , as he floats along.

1937: Writers at Work

Reporters followed the president along in their own boat, which doubled as a floating office where they typed up articles and took notes.

1939: Montauk Beach Surf Club

1958: Family Camping Trip

A family enjoys trailer camping at Montauk's Hither Hills State Park . The park, still open today, features a 40-acre freshwater lake and over two miles of sandy beaches.

1961: Train to Montauk

A lively group of Islip High School seniors sing along to tunes while on a Long Island Railroad prom train to Montauk. The train crawled along at a slow 12 mph pace so the students could dance without getting hurt.

If you drove out to Montauk in the 1960s, chances are you would have been met with this assortment of signs advertising the area's hotels, attractions, and eateries. Funnily enough, Gurney's Inn is still a hot spot out East today, while the historic Hawaiian-themed Ronjo Resort underwent a makeover and was renamed the Montauk Beach House over a decade ago.

There was no shortage of places to stay in Montauk during the 1960s—by this time, the popular beach town already had over 70 motels .

Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE within seven days of your arrival date. Please note that deposits applied to bookings for holiday weekends are NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of when the cancellation is requested. Absolutely no refunds/credits will be issued if stay is canceled or modified within three days of scheduled arrival. Any credits issued MUST be used before the end of the current season. Your request for a specific slip will be given every consideration but CANNOT be guaranteed. Slip assignments may change before arrival at the dockmaster’s discretion. Dockage subject to availability. This policy is inclusive of, but not limited to, bad weather, boat maintenance issues, family emergencies, medical emergencies, schedule changes, etc.
