Herzlich Willkommen. Diese Seite ist dem Wirken der Boots- und Schiffbauer der Yachtwerft Berlin gewidmet. Sie gibt einen kleinen Einblick in die 100-jährige Geschichte der Werft. Sie soll den heutigen Bootseignern die Möglichkeit der Information geben und einen Austausch rund um die Fahrzeuge ermöglichen.

Sie sehen das Resultat des jahrelangen Sammelns vieler Menschen, die sich der Geschichte der Werft verbunden fühlen. BBG Racing Shells

Durham Boat Company has two lines of BBG racing shells for sale: Olympia X (OX) and Champion X (CX):

History of BBG Bootsbau Berlin Racing Shells : Although BBG can trace its origin back to Claus Engelbrecht in 1890, the company in Berlin was renamed in 1956 as an enterprise with many factories and diverse production of a variety of vessels. It was in the seventies that they built the first composite rowing shells consisting of a gray epoxy/glass fiber hull and wood framework. The top teams of the Eastern Bloc countries successfully raced these boats. Because of the racing success of DDR crews using VEB boats, the state strongly supported the development of new materials and testing of new hull shapes to a level never seen before or since in any country. At the 1976 Montreal Olympics, 9 of the 16 gold medals in rowing were won by crews using VEB boats. By reunification in 1990, over 15,000 boats had been produced at a rate of over 460 per year. By that time crews using VEB Berlin Yachtwerft boats had won over 580 medals in World Championships and Olympic competitions. Now just about every western boat builder had copied the lines and offered “VEB” hull shapes.

The company was then renamed BBG Bootsbau Berlin in 1990 and in 2015 BBG had their 25th Anniversary.  The record number of Gold Medals won by crews from all countries using genuine BBG Bootsbau Berlin hulls or copies continues to grow each year at World Championships and Olympic competitions.

BBG reorganized in early 2016 as Bootsmanufaktur Berlin GmbH with new management, but with the same Master Boat Builder and many of the same workers. We are still a components supplier to the new BBG, as well as a dealer of BBG boats, repair parts, rigging and offer an exchange service to sell refurbished BBG boats to the US market on consignment as they become available.

A NEW SERIES OF FIRE FLOATS FROM THE VEB YACHTWERFT, BERLIN

A new series of firefighting/salvage boats is being built by the VEB Yachtwerft, Berlin, for service in ports and in coastal and other areas; the boats will also be able to assist land-based firefighters dealing with waterfront fires, and to render general assistance in cases of accidents on the water. The first boat in the series entered service in Dec. 1981, and is based at Rostock; another was due for delivery in Sept. 1982 and a third during 1983. The firefighting equipment includes three 3000-litres/min. monitors for water or foam, located forward, and, aft, one water and one foam monitor on a fire-fighting platform that can be raised about 20 m above the waterline, outboard from either side of the boat. The fire-pumps are driven off the forward ends of the boat's three main engines. The engines can be used in three propulsion modes: midship engine only, wing engines only, or all three engines. The article describes these and other features in some detail. Principal particulars include: length 40.2m o.a., 35.8m b.p., 37.4m waterline; breadth 7.57m o.a., 7.2m moulded, 6.96m waterline; depth 3.52m; design draught 2.1m; design displacement 243.1 m3; mean draught 2.2m, with 268.6 tonnes corresponding displacement; three Kuhlautomat-built 12KVD21 AL-4 main engines, rated power 900 kW at 1500 rpm, driving triple c.p. propellers through reduction gearing <2.96:1 port and midship screws, 2.83:1 starboard screw>; crew:- 5 permanent, plus 6 others; classification DSRK KM III, Ice 3, Firefighting Boat.

Inland passenger ship (BiFa) type III - Binnenfahrgastschiff (BiFa) Typ III

As a single passenger ship (bifa) type III an type series of day trip vessels is Yachtwerft Berlin-Köpenick designated. The passenger ships were built from 1976 to 1992. According to the former GDR TGL 21615, your original engine designation stands for 6 cylinder four-stroke diesel, 14.5 cm piston stroke, 12 cm cylinder bore, series 1, vertical, row, water cooling from the Schönebeck diesel engine plant. Due to subsequent modifications, especially in the area of ​​the engine and in the area of ​​the upper deck, the technical information and the information on the number of passengers may vary.

The five type IV ships belong to a series of connections. In the original, they have space for 106 people in the salons and 56 guests on the sun deck.

The last passenger ships launched at the Koepenick shipyard were the two saloon ships Eosander (hull no. 3157) and Lenné (hull no. 3159). They are also regarded as the successors to the Type III ships and were developed from the Type IV from 1992 onwards.
