Debbie’s is an excellent option for networking as it is run by Chief Stewardess Debbie and Engineer Franco. You can also expect to find more established crew staying here.

Debbie’s Crew House is situated right near a bus stop which is great as it is about a 20-minute walk to downtown Antibes.

The Crew House is a very popular option among new yacht crew seeking work. It can sleep up to 30 crew at one time so you will be networking with a big group of people.

The Crew house is run by Martin and Virginie who are well known for looking after the crew and helping with job seeking and advice. Known commonly as a home away from home, this crew house in Antibes comes highly recommended by other crew.

It is also centrally located near the main docks and crew agencies of Antibes. They also offer discounts and good prices dependent on the time of year and length of your stay.

As a 'first-tier' hiring port, you’ll need to act quickly to secure housing ahead of your arrival, or you could well miss out on the best places to stay!

Thankfully there are a number of accommodation options available to yacht crew in Antibes, most of which are based around Port Vauban. Below, we break them down and provide local housing recommendations, helping you to work out which is best suited to your needs.

Securing crew housing and accommodation in Antibes

The yachting season kicks off in the South of France in early April each year, so it's vital for crew hopefuls to get sorted well in advance to avoid the last-minute scramble for beds. In fact, it’s often better to schedule your arrival a little before in the hope of joining a yacht before it gets underway.

It’s worth noting that prices for crew accommodation can be quite high in Antibes when compared to other hiring ports around the world, due to its status as a great hiring port for first-time yachties. The minimum you can expect to pay for even the most basic lodging is €20 to €25 per night.

The Crew Grapevine

Debbie’s Crew House

A relatively small and relaxed crew house just outside Antibes, Debbie’s Crew House is positioned just a few minutes’ walk from the beach and near to Antibes station, making it easy to travel to the surrounding ports for even more opportunities. It’s a good option if you want to stay away from central Antibes, but is also close enough that you can get into town (approx. 30 minutes walk) when you need to.

The house features a kitchen and laundry facilities, as well as Wi-Fi, printing, and outdoor-sports equipment. Banks, bakeries, and supermarkets are located a short walk across the road.

Debbie’s Crew House is run by Debbie, a former chief stewardess, and Franco, a chief engineer aboard a luxury yacht, and they are known to offer helpful advice and answer any questions that guests may have about the industry.

The Glamorgan

A popular and well-known house for crew, The Glamorgan is conveniently located just a few minutes’ walk from Port Vauban and near to crew agents, shops, bus stops and Antibes train station.

It features a communal lounge and kitchen, along with Wi-Fi, computers, printers, and laundry facilities. Rooms sleep up to six people and come fully air-conditioned and heated, with some dorms also offering en suites.

The Glamorgan encourages guests to submit CVs at the earliest opportunity too, as it’s in regular contact with yacht captains and crew agencies that can advise of job opportunities.

The Crew House

One of the most popular crew houses in Antibes, The Crew House can sleep up to 30 people at any one time. One of the cheaper options for crew, it provides printing, free Wi-Fi, a kitchen, and laundry facilities. Thought of as a great place for networking and meeting new people, The Crew House is located centrally, close to the docks, crew agents, and other local amenities.

Martin and Virginie, who have been running the house for many years, regularly receive day work and job offers direct from local yachts, which they share with guests. A refundable deposit of €50 is required on arrival.

Amma’s Crew House

Known to be one of the cheapest crew houses locally, Amma’s is located further away from the marina than the other houses and is suited to crew on a tight budget. Amma’s has en-suite bathrooms with every room, and offers Wi-Fi, printing, a washing machine, and a kitchen.

It doesn’t boast as many features or amenities as other crew houses, but the noticeable difference in price makes it the ideal option for those looking to keep accommodation costs as low as possible.

Chief stewardess Debbie and chief engineer Franco have designed their crew house using their vast experience on board super yachts. Franco is chief engineer on M/Y Kingdom5-KR which is docked in Antibes for most of the year. At least one of them will always be present to advise and help you. You never know who you might find at Debbie’s. Due to its location on the outskirts of Antibes, Debbie’s is also popular with more senior crew looking for a base either between jobs or doing yacht courses. A number of our regularly returning clients have many years’ experience in the yachting industry holding varying positions such as chef, engineer, chief stewardess and captain. Who knows who you might be sharing a beer with by the pool !

With three large private townhouses in the centre of old Antibes, Crew Grapevine provides quality shore side accommodation to Superyacht crew, industry professionals and those seeking that end. The three properties are within 100m of the port, among the crew recruitment agencies and yachting schools. 

Their focus is helping their crew finding their feet, finding their next yacht, finding a quiet place to study, and finding support from a network of like-minded people sharing the experience. Owners Capt. Jason and Chef Jennifer have combined over 25 years of industry experience and (being crew themselves) have created the infrastructure to provide crew with what they need when between jobs or studying. 

Grapevine believes in the crewing experience, and works hard to help their crew to integrate with day-work, connections, guidance and support. Yacht Managers and Captains know they will find the best crew at Crew Grapevine.

The Crew lighthouse located in the Antibes Centre, ideally situated near Carrefour Supermarket (100m), Port Vauban, the crew agencies, training facilities, bars, restaurants, super markets – Supermarket U 300m, Monoprix 250m, Intermarché 300m - Post Office and “La Gravette” sand beach 350m.   From Antibes Railway Station 350m, only 10 minutes’ walk.

Antibes This city is old - 2500 years- and famous for its culture Greco-Roman, cathedral, castle, Picasso museum, and panoramic sightseeing from the Garoupe Chapel. Some of the world's largest and most lavishly appointed Super yachts have Port Vauban the largest Marina in Europe as home port. Beaches in Antibes are lying near the fortified port Vauban -La Gravette sand beach-, and on both side of the Cap d’Antibes - La Salis - La Garoupe - Juan les Pins-Antibes On the other side of this peninsula lies Juan les Pins which is modern and famous for its Festival of Jazz, its nightlife! In between are the beaches and what gorgeous beaches they are! Mostly yellow sand but with a few pebbly spots, these beaches offer small coves and wonderful spots for snorkeling and most have good facilities to buy food, shower, rent loungers and find loos!

Transport 10 miles from International Nice-Airport. Taxis are very expensive + from Airport to Antibes so try to avoid such transport. Look for Uber. Train from Nice to Antibes is also very good, but from Nice-Airport you need to take a bus to go to Nice Railway Station. The best way is from Nice-airport to take special bus # 250 going to Cannes (€11.00). Or public or bus # 200 bus-stop to 4 lanes highway, across terminal 1, going to Antibes Cannes (€3.00 but more often), and you stop at the Antibes Central Bus/Railway station. The Crew Lighthouse is only at 10 minutes walk from Antibes Bus /Railway Station / or Port Vauban / or La Gravette sand beach If you arrive in the day or late in the evening, you also can ask us for a special cab to collect you for €55.00 from Nice airport.

Please keep your CV nice and clean and free from formatting blocks of colour/shading/columns etc. It is fine to have a smart presentation copy to take to interviews but for uploading to the various sites, it can become a problem. Be aware that, as Crew Agents, we have to brand each CV we send out to yachts/management companies. There are many different Agencies and Captains’ need to be able to distinguish which Agent sent him which CV. If your CV is heavily formatted, it is difficult to put our mark on it without it all going awry. Also be aware that your CV will be opened on many different programmes Mac/Windows 7-10 etc and they can also play havoc with formatting so that all that hard work at presentation actually has the opposite effect.

French law requires that you carry photo ID with you at all times.

However, taxis are very hard to come by, particularly at night and night buses are pretty rare. Stay Safe! Ideally set yourself up an Uber account.

Crew Housing

Finding a roof over your head and a place to crash upon arriving at a new destination can be a daunting task. Fortunately, in this day and age, it is fairly easy to prepare ahead. However, it is worth keeping in mind that the yachting hubs tend to get very busy with crew houses known to be fully booked during these periods;

Antibes : March – June and end of September – October

Palma : March – June and end of September – October

Fort Lauderdale : Middle of January – June and September-November

Newport : May – September

Caribbean : End of November – March

If you decide to stay in a crew house, you are recommended to make a reservation WELL IN ADVANCE! It is always a good idea to bring a printed confirmation (or screenshots) just in case of problems with your booking. Please bear in mind that it can be challenging for some crew house owners to take reservations due to the nature of tenants coming and going at a random pace. For this reason, not all crew houses will take bookings far in advance. NB: Some crew houses require tenants to present a Seaman’s Book, STCW certificate or a yachting CV.

• Facebook Of course, the biggest network to connect everyone. You can often find rooms for rent or ask for one in the Facebook group covering your destination. This is likely your most flexible option.
• Roomster Roomster helps you find private rooms worldwide – great for small budgets!
• Hostelworld.com HostelWorld.com is an awesome hostel-search engine, where you can see photos and compare hostels not just locally but also worldwide. You can also find hostel deals and see the location of the hostels in relation to the marinas. It is well worth checking out!
• TripAdvisor TripAdvisor is always a good choice if you want to check the reviews before booking, whether it be a hotel, hostel, restaurant, bar etc. Discounts are often available from their platform as well.
• FairBnB You may never have heard of FairBnB. This new platform shares their commission with a local community project each time you make a booking through them – without the host being paid less. This is “Community Powered Tourism” at its’ best!
• AirBnB AirBnB allows you to find private accommodation in a safe environment worldwide. Perhaps not the cheapest form of housing, but if you are unable to book a room, a crew house or a hostel then this is a good place to continue your search for a place to stay.
• Flipkey Flipkey is a great alternative to AirBnB and definitely worth checking out if you are looking for something a little more private.
• Sublet Sublet is a brilliant site which helps you find rooms and apartments short term or long term worldwide.
