Amigo 40 is a tough Swedish design. The ship has a long keel with an attached rudder and a nice sheltered cockpit. The ship is excellent for sailing on larger waters. The interior of this ship is very clean. The current owner had a Windpilot windvane installed in 2017 and a Vespermarine AIS Watchmate. The sails are from North from 2011 and have not been used much. The teak deck needs some maintenance.

Review of Amigo 40

Basic specs..

The Amigo 40 is equipped with a long keel. A long keel provide a better directional stability than a similar boat with a fin keel; on the other hand, better directional stability means also that the boat is more difficult to handle in a harbour with less space.

The keel is made of iron. Many people prefer lead keel in favour of iron. The main argument is that lead is much heavier than iron and a lead keel can therefore be made smaller which again result in less wet surface, i.e. less drag. In fact iron is quite heavy, just 30% less heavy than lead, so the advantage of a lead keel is often overstated.

The boat can enter most marinas as the draft is just about 1.50 - 1.60 meter (4.92 - 5.22 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.

Although our AMIGO may seem compact, this pocket cruiser offers the seaworthiness, comfort, and features of much larger vessels, but at an affordable price. Not to be confused with the lighter, less able weekender-types of similar length, this is a heavy boat capable of serious long-distance offshore and coastal cruising. Yet AMIGO is a boat that is easy to handle in either the masthead or gaff sloop rig, even by the single hander. Best of all, it's trailerable. A most notable feature aboard AMIGO is the standing headroom throughout the cabin area, a remarkable feat considering the very attractive and well-proportioned appearance. Another clever feature is the fully enclosed toilet room with stall shower formed by a series of hinged panels. These panels fold back when not needed, hiding the head from view while opening up the cabin for spaciousness. The divided cabin offers dual cabin privacy, something seldom seen on a 22' boat. Other features of AMIGO include two hanging lockers, a dinette that converts to form a berth, an aft quarter berth, a 4' long galley, and a huge ice box with loading and access from the cockpit or galley. Storage space is located in every nook and cranny, including a separate locker at the stern for stove fuel with overboard drains for safety. The cockpit is self draining and long enough to sleep in. For range there is a 50 gallon fresh water capacity. Aimed at the amateur who prides himself on quality workmanship and perseverance, building AMIGO will be a rewarding experience that will draw the admiration from on-lookers. Plans are available for either wood-strip or "one-off" fiberglass construction.

The Reckless 40L is a rackless luggage system that easily mounts on almost any motorcycle. We designed this bag for long day trips, motel-hopping, and minimalist camping off your bike. The Reckless 40L is 100% waterproof, with five separate removable welded-seam drybags that slide/strap into a protective outer harness.  (Onyx/Orange and Black are available for preorder with expected delivery in May 2024. If you’re ordering in-stock and preorder items and need your in-stock ones right away, please place two separate orders or all items will ship with the preorder.)

The Reckless 40 V4.0 offers a stiffer, more durable, and lighter-weight design featuring CURV® composite harness material. The stiffness of the CURV® material significantly reduces movement of the bag, adding more stability for technical off-road riding. CURV® has a unique high-impact strength that will not fatigue or crack, even when riding on very hot days or in freezing temperatures. The new design of the harness is 0.5lb / 0.25kg lighter than our previous V3.0 harness.

Additional updates include multi-directional Molle on the beavertail and leg holsters, two settings for leg strap mounting, low-profile non-slip cam buckles, and optimized integration for the optional  Gnoblin  rear mounting accessory. The R40 is also now built with 100% recycled 1680D Ballistic nylon, eco-friendly PVC backing, and UV treatment.

The Reckless 40 includes three 100% waterproof roll-top dry bags that can be easily accessed throughout the day. The side dry bags have clear panels on the front, so you can tell which bag has what you need. They also have webbing handles at the bottom so that they can be pulled into the holster from the bottom.

The Stinger 8L tail bag includes stashable backpack straps in case you want to go for a day hike or run into town for errands. It also has four sewn-on connection straps, making it easily rigged as a standalone tail bag. To increase the capacity of your Reckless 40, you can replace the Stinger 8L Tail Bag with a Stinger 22L Tail Bag .

The Reckless 40's removable beavertail is a great spot to tuck a motorcycle jacket when it’s not in use or to store wet or dirty things - like a tent fly, towel, or campsite garbage. The beavertail is removable and can be rotated to run either parallel or perpendicular to the bike. On the top of the beavertail and front of the leg holsters, there is two-directional MOLLE panels so you can customize the harness with various MOLLE accessories.

The Reckless 40 includes one  Cleat Kit , which can be bolted to the bike's rear fender, providing a convenient lash point for the rear connection straps. We recommend adding the optional Gnoblin rear mounting accessory for rock-solid attachment and easy on-off functionality.

• Exhaust heat damage is not covered under warranty. Please use the included heat shield and follow the installation instructions carefully.
• On dual-exhaust bikes or bikes with especially high/exposed pipes, you will need a second heat shield, available for purchase in our website's Hardware & Parts section.
• Contact between soft luggage (no matter how soft) and your bike's plastics or painted surfaces will cause cosmetic wear to the bike over time because accumulated dirt is abrasive. If that is important, try applying a clear protective film (like  Allstar Performance Tape or  3M Polymask Protective Tape ) to your bike.
• Different bikes and installation approaches present different wear points to the Reckless 40 harness. After installation, go for a short test ride, then check for wear points. Adjust the harness position, file down sharp rack edges, or apply a sacrificial wear patch as needed. Continue to check for high-wear points over time, but remember that the harness is made to take a lot of abuse. Some visible wear is normal, and in no way does it affect the strength or waterproofness of the luggage.

It’s a high-steaks scandal.

Iconic Big Apple Theater District steakhouse Gallaghers has been displaying an “A” health rating on its storefront while online city records show it earned a “C”— and some customers now have beef with the pricey eatery.

During its most recent reported inspection in May of last year, the white-tablecloth restaurant was found to have “filth flies” and workers with “inadequate” personal cleanliness such as untrimmed fingernails, according to online city Department of Health records .

The inspector also reported the eatery — which sells prime rib for $78 a plate, and filet mignon for $67 — had kitchen surfaces that were “not properly washed” and “conditions conducive to rodents, insects or other pests,” the records show.

In total, it racked up 56 health violation points, according to the city website.

But the popular restaurant, on 52nd Street and Broadway, was still showing off an “A” sign — with a five-year-old inspection date of May 6, 2019 — in its window Friday.

Diners said it left a bad taste in their mouths.

“What bothers me most is the lying, publishing they’re an ‘A’ when they’re actually not. At least take the ‘A’ down,” said Mark, a customer who gave only his first name.

“Lying bastards,” huffed one tourist.

“Seems like it should be illegal, right?” fumed another patron leaving with a doggie bag.

Indeed, it’s required by law for restaurants to post their letter grades, though a Post investigation found in 2010 — the year the grading system launched citywide — that eateries that earn “C”s often hide them.

In July 2022, Gallagher was also cited for 17 health violation points including for “filth flies,” unclean surfaces and food stored at the wrong temperature, the city records show.

Other diners said the restaurant didn’t look outwardly unhygienic and that their meals were good, if a little overpriced.

“You can’t tell that it’s a ‘C’ inside, it looks like a regular fancy restaurant,” Felipe Del Rio, 46, a tourist from Chile who sprung for the filet mignon, said as he left the eatery Thursday night.

“It was a good meal and good service.”

But he added, “It bothers me that they are lying.”

“The steak wasn’t hot,” another diner said.

“The way the presentation of the food is, I’m not surprised they got a C.”

One customer, a band manager in town from Los Angeles, was unfazed.

“I’ve eaten off the hot dogs off the worst food carts and I haven’t died yet,” Eddie Francoeur, 49, quipped, adding, “I live in LA. Everyone has a ‘C’ there.”

A spokeswoman for the restaurant said owners believed the “C” was a pending grade that they didn’t need to post because they’d be reinspected.

“We apologize if there was a misunderstanding or any confusion,” the spokeswoman said.

“However, when we received the rating on May 16, 2023, we were of the understanding that there’d be a follow-up with a reinspection within 30 to 60 days before that rating was instated,” she said.

“That was over a year ago and we have still not been reinspected,” she said.

“We continue to anxiously await our re-inspection and are very proud of our health and sanitation procedures.”

But a rep for the health department said the “C” grade was official, not pending.

“Gallagher Steakhouse was last inspected in May 2023 and received a C grade. The restaurant is due for reinspection this month. The penalty for not exhibiting the grade is a fine up to $1,000,” a spokeswoman for the agency said.

‘9 to 5’ and ‘Tootsie’ star Dabney Coleman dead at 92

Dabney Coleman, most famous for his role on “9 to 5,” has died at the age of 92.

The Hollywood icon’s daughter, Quincy Coleman, told Page Six he “took his last earthly breath peacefully and exquisitely” at his home in Santa Monica, Calif., on Thursday.

“My father crafted his time here on earth with a curious mind, a generous heart, and a soul on fire with passion, desire and humor that tickled the funny bone of humanity,” she said in the statement. “As he lived, he moved through this final act of his life with elegance, excellence and mastery.”

She continued, “A teacher, a hero, and a king, Dabney Coleman is a gift and blessing in life and in death as his spirit will shine through his work, his loved ones and his legacy…eternally.”

Dabney’s cause of death is unclear.

The Texas native started working in the entertainment industry in the ’60s. However, it wasn’t until a decade later that he finally got his big break after landing the role as Merle Jeeter on “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.”

“[‘Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman’] was a huge turning point. That was  the  turning point in my career,” he told the A.V. Club in 2012.

“That’s kind of where it all started, as far as people’s belief that I could do comedy, particularly that negative, caustic, cynical kind of guy. I was pretty good at doing that kind of humor,” he explained.

“So that was a huge turning point, and it was a lot of fun. In my opinion, it’s probably the best thing I ever did.”

In 1980, Dabney cemented his ability to play world-class jerks after getting cast as Franklin Hart Jr. in “9 to 5.”

The dad of four played a diabolical boss overseeing characters played by Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton, whom he had nothing but praise for.

“All of ’em were well-established,” he told the outlet. “To varying degrees, but all extremely successful already. Almost icons in their fields, if you want to break it down like that.”

He continued, “And here’s this guy coming off of ‘Mary Hartman,’ which is not too shabby, but it was late-night TV. Anyway, what I’m alluding to is that all three of them went out of their way to make me feel equal. There’s no other way to put it. Status-wise and talent-wise, they all made me feel extremely secure and were very supportive.”

Some of Dabney’s other notable roles include Ron Carlisle in “Tootsie,” Nelson Fox in “You’ve Got Mail” and Bill Bittinger in “Buffalo Bill.”

He had nearly 180 acting credits throughout his decades-long career, with his last performance being in 2019 for an episode of “Yellowstone.”

Dabney was nominated for six Emmy awards, winning once for his work in 1987’s “Sworn to Silence.”

He was also nominated for three Golden Globes, taking home the hardware in 1988 for his performance in “The Slap Maxwell Story.”

Dabney, who was not married at the time of his death, is survived by his four children — Meghan, Kelly, Randy and Quincy — and five grandchildren.

Ukraine war latest: Moscow accuses West of being responsible for attacks in Russia; two dead in airstrike on major city

At least two people have been killed and more than a dozen injured in a reported Russian attack on Ukraine's second-largest city of Kharkiv. Russia says it sees the US and UK as responsible for recent attacks on its soil.

One person has been killed and another eight injured in a Russian missile attack near the Black Sea port of Odesa, a Ukrainian official has said.

Regional governor Oleh Kiper said five people were being treated in hospital. He posted pictures showing emergency workers near the scene of the strike.

Sky News has not independently verified the report.

Odesa has been a frequent target of Russian missile and drone attacks.

President Vladimir Putin used his meeting with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to "promote Kremlin narratives feigning interest in peace negotiations", analysts at the Institute for the Study of War say.

The pair signed a joint statement yesterday alluding to Russia's support for the China's proposed peace plan and a possible future Chinese-led negotiation to end the war in Ukraine.

In the statement, they claim both countries support a "sustainable settlement" for the "Ukraine crisis".

The ISW said it has "previously assessed" the Kremlin will "continue to use any calls for peace negotiations to feign interest in negotiations" in the hope of undermining Western support for Ukraine.

Moscow also hopes the West will force Ukraine into negotiations with Russia that make concessions on Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity, the ISW added.

'Decisive' relationship

Meanwhile, the institute says, Mr Putin likely views Moscow's relationship with Beijing as "decisive" in his bid to further mobilise the Russian economy and defence industry to support his war in Ukraine.

"Putin and Xi highlighted bilateral trade and economic cooperation throughout their public speeches," the ISW says, adding the Russian delegation includes officials and businessmen.

"The Russian delegation likely aimed to expand cooperation with their Chinese counterparts that will facilitate increased economic ties between Russia and the PRC [People's Republic of China]."

China has previously signalled concerns its economic relationship with Russia may open it up to sanctions, the ISW says, and Mr Putin "likely intends to head off these concerns as the Russian defence industry grows increasingly reliant on the PRC".

Earlier today, we reported how a purported Ukrainian drone attack caused a fire at an oil refinery in Krasnodar, Russia.

The blaze has forced an emergency shut down at the facility, owned by Rosneft, two sources familiar with the matter have told Reuters.

According to one source, the drones hit the liquefied petroleum gas production unit while the crude distillation unit remained undamaged. 

"There was no black smoke during the fire. That means it was just the gas burning", a source said.

Russia's state-run TASS news agency reported the fire was extinguished, citing local authorities. 

The Russian defence ministry said air defences downed 44 drones over the Krasnodar region and six over the Belgorod region. 

For context: The Tuapse plant's annual capacity is 12 million metric tons, or 240,000 barrels per day. 

It produces naphtha, fuel oil, vacuum gasoil and high-sulphur diesel, and supplies fuel mainly Turkey, China, Malaysia and Singapore. 

Most Russians would support an end to the war in Ukraine this week - but only if newly-gained territories were not returned.

That's according to  the independent Levada Centre , Russia's best known pollster, which ran a survey to canvass public opinion on Vladimir Putin and the war.

While 71% would back an end to the war "this week", this figure drops to just 30% if the condition for peace were to return territories.

Since September last year, Levada reports the level of support for the Russian army has stayed at about 75%, with older respondents more likely to remain in favour.

Mr Putin's approval rating appears to be at about 82%, the pollster reports.

However, those aged between 18 and 24 appear less likely to back M Putin, with 77% not approving of his activities as president.

Former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko says no one should trust Vladimir Putin when he says he won't invade Russia's second city, Kharkiv.

The Russian leader does not have an opportunity to capture Kharkiv right now due to Ukraine's defensive forces, he said.

But in Vovchansk, where Mr Poroshenko visited yesterday, the town has been turned into "hell" - with no people or houses left.

"Don't trust Putin. Don't be afraid of Putin," he said.

"I can confirm that our strategy shall be as follows: Ukraine shall win, and Russia, undoubtedly, shall lose."

Moscow says it sees the US and UK as responsible for recent attacks because they are allowing Ukraine to use Western weapons against Russian targets.

The Russian foreign ministry said the UK, US, EU and Kyiv were "playing with fire" over attacks on Russian soil, state news agency Tass reports.

Such actions will not go unanswered, it warned.

"Once again, we should like to unequivocally warn Washington, London, Brussels and other Western capitals, as well as Kyiv, which is under their control, that they are playing with fire. Russia will not leave such encroachments on its territory unanswered."

Earlier today, Russia's ambassador to the UK said the UK was a de facto participant in the war.

This was because it has supplied Kyiv with weapons and shared real-time intelligence, said Andrei Kelin.

The number of victims from a reported Russian airstrike has risen, officials say.

At least two people are now said to have died, with another 13 injured - four of whom are in a "serious condition", regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said.

It is not clear what the attack targeted, but Mr Syniehubov said those injured are civilians.

Reports had initially claimed one person had died and four injured.

Kharkiv, Ukraine's second largest city, and the surrounding region have long been targeted by Russian attacks but the strikes have become more intense in recent months.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Moscow of seeking to reduce the city to rubble.

A Ukrainian drone hit another oil terminal this morning, this time in the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiisk, according to sources and footage shared on social media.

The Importpischeprom oil products terminal and Sheskharis oil harbour were struck, with the port shut soon after the attack.

Oil loadings resumed later from Sheskharis, according to industry sources and LSEG data, while activity at Importpischeprom remains suspended.

It came as Russian officials reported another drone attack on an oil refinery, causing a fire in Tuapse, which is roughly 150km southeast of Novorossiisk.

Both are in the Krasnodar region.

Russian oil pipeline monopoly Transneftdid not reply to a request for comment. Its subsidiary, Novorossiisk Commercial Sea Port Group (NCSP), which operates the Sheskharis oil terminal, declined to comment.

Novorossiisk is Russia's largest port on the Black Sea and is a key oil outlet for crude oil and transit in country's south. It also handles grain, coal, mineral fertilisers, timber, containers, food and chemical cargoes.

Four people have been hurt and at least one has died in an airstrike on the city of Kharkiv, according to local officials.

The regional governor says some of those injured are civilians, while it's reported Russia used guided bombs in the attack.

It's not immediately clear what exactly came under attack.
