10 Best Catamarans Under 200k
Are you looking for a catamaran to enjoy with your friends and family on weekends, or summer vacation, or maybe to liveaboard? If yes, catamarans are large yachts that provide many luxuries, but that doesn’t mean you will have to destroy your savings since there are many great choices under 200k. Of course, quality isn’t cheap, especially when it comes to a life of luxury on the ocean. However, we have carefully selected the best catamarans under 200k that are both elegant and economically viable.
Price: Used From 150k to 400K
The Lagoon 380 is one of the best catamarans ever produced. By 2013, over 700 of these boats had been delivered globally. It is regarded as the baby of the Lagoon company, as it is the smallest but very comfortable even for a liveaboard family. This boat stands at 37 feet and is regarded as the benchmark for 40-and-under feet catamarans.
It was designed by the renowned French-based naval architectural company, VPLP, this boat features a simple and efficient deck layout, a circuit vision in the rounded saloon, a cockpit equipped with a real outdoor lounge area, a structural beam that provides easy access to the sea and life raft, three or four cabins which are very bright (due to the large hull windows) and can accommodate up to 10 people. The galley is located between the cockpit and the saloon. The engine room is distanced from living areas and perfectly insulated for maximum comfort.
You can find a Lagoon 380 in good condition for around 200k, which is a phenomenal deal. At this price range, this is an affordable luxury because it is comfortable with enough amenities. In addition, it has amazing interior woodwork designed by X. Fay. The design, technology, speed, safety, and great navigation make it a whole lot more appealing. The vertical glazing provides better protection against the sun and optimizes space and headroom. The Lagoon 380 is definitely worth your time and money; make sure to check one out if there is one for sale in your area. Also, because this catamaran was very popular when it was released, there are many for sale on the used market. Personally, I believe that the Lagoon 380 is the best catamaran under 200k .

Broadblue 38 Catamaran
Price: Used From 150k to 400k
Broadblue is a United Kingdom-based company at Thornham Marina, Emsworth. The company is famous for achieving the perfect combination of performance, speed, luxury liveaboard, comfort, and safety. This 38-foot catamaran price ranges from around $150k to $400k. Designed by Stuart Davidsen, it has lots of spaces, storage or not. The saloon and cockpit provide spacious comfort for 6 people, with all-round visibility whether at sea or in the harbor.
The most popular layout of this catamaran comes with 3 double cabins and 2 v-berths and, as usual with cats, a very spacious saloon. The boat has superb woodwork in the interior with lots of amenities that could afford one the life of luxury when cruising. This a very popular catamaran on the used market because of its great value-for-money. Honestly, this design looks a bit dated on the outside, but they are very comfortable and well-built.
MacGregor 40 Catamaran
Price: Around 100k
The MacGregor 40 was designed by designer and builder Roger MacGregor; as you probably understood already, he also named the boat after himself. With a price of around 100k on the used market, this 40-foot cat is astonishing for many things. It is a fast catamaran with cabins and has enough space for a weekend trip with a simple mast raising system. However, its sensitivity to moderate winds, lack of storage space, and difficulty of handling are reasons people become wary when getting the MacGregor 40.
The galley and saloon are well equipped with the finest of craft from woodwork down to the electronics; you would certainly love the deck layout for sunbathing and a whole lot of other water sporting activities. This catamaran is for someone who is an adrenaline junkie looking for the fastest catamaran under 200k but not necessarily the most comfortable one.
Gemini Legacy 35
Price: Used From 150k to 250k
This is the most successful cruising catamaran ever built in the US. Since it was first built in 1981, this American-made boat has been the most family-friendly performance cruising catamaran in the world. The Legacy 35 has more interior space than most 40-foot monohulls and costs a little less than an average monohull, while it stands at only 35 feet. The cost varies from $150k to $250k, depending on the dealer, age, condition, etc. Like most catamarans, it is easy to maneuver, fast, family-friendly, great to liveaboard but affordable.
The hallmark for a Gemini design is the shallow draft. Legacy 35 has a 34-inch draft that allows the boat to be pulled right up next to the beach or anchored in small protected coves.

Lagoon 35 CCC
Price: Used From 120k to 200k
The premier multihull in the world, the Lagoon 35 CCC, is built in the United States to have a hull constructed using the SCRIMP infusion method of elimination. The ‘CCC’ in front of the name stands for Coastal Cruising Catamaran. This boat is a collaboration of Jeanneau and TPI, then conceived by American architects Morelli and Melvin, who have expert knowledge in the field of designing catamarans. Morelli and Melvin chose performance over comfort. Starting at $120,000, this boat combines an excellent layout and high-quality finish with a capability of sailing fast.
The 35 feet stylish and beautiful catamaran is complemented by the size of spaces in the boat from the large cockpit that can comfortably seat eight people. It has three or four cabins with an amazing deck layout and a comfortable view, even though the designers never prioritized that. The exterior, though, is just as sleek as the interior and one reason the boat will be enticing. This boat is as affordable as luxury can get. Whether you are looking for a weekend catamaran to spend some quality time with the family or as a liveaboard, this catamaran will be perfect for you.
Final Thoughts
A great cruising or liveaboard catamaran for under 200k? Is that even possible? Many people don’t think so; I believe I just proved them wrong! As you can see, some of these catamarans cost more than 200k on the used market, but I made sure the starting price is under the 200k mark, as the title suggests. However, do not be swiped away by the good price and rush to your checkbook. Take your time, take her out for a spin, and get her surveyed; it’s worth the extra cost to get your mind at ease because a hidden problem can cost tenths of thousands of dollars. After you make sure that everything checks out and you are aware of any problems, you can write the check and take her home; or make her your home, it’s up to you!

Used Power Catamarans For Sale
Whether you're island hopping in the Caribbean, planning on living aboard, or simply want more space to enjoy boating, a power catamaran offers many benefits over your traditional monohull design. Power Catamarans are also among the fastest growing categories of boat styles, thanks in part to their popularity in the yacht charter industry. The cross-over from monohull boats to multi-hull is impossible to ignore as some boaters seek more comfort, less work managing a sailboat, and the undeniable amount of living space a power cat provides.

Buying A Power Catamaran
Power Catamarans are characterized by having two hulls, a very wide beam, and a flat, spacious main deck. Because of their design features, power cats are more fuel efficient than many motor yachts partly because of their engine selections, but also because of the reduction in wave impact by being multi-hull.
Today's luxury power cats are often outfitted with a bulbous bow that helps to cut waves and improve planing speed. Compression tunnels are part of the hull design which compress air between the two hulls, creating more lift and improving speed. While not as fast as most monohull motor yachts, power cats can still cruise about the 20 knot range, although many owners are happy to be as fuel efficient as possible around the 8-10 knot mark.
There is also no denying how much space, both interior and exterior, result in having a multi-hull boat. Some power cats have a beam of over 30-feet! That extra square footage results in spectacular sunbathing areas, massive salons, and storage space that allows owners to travel for weeks at a time.
If you are trying to decide between a power catamaran or a motor yacht for cruising, our team of expert sales professionals can walk you through the pros and cons of the different styles of yachts. Contact our main office today at 1-718-984-7676 and we will connect you with one of our team members located in New York, Rhode Island, or South Florida depending on where you will be boating.

Top 5 Azimut Motoryachts You Can Buy For Under $500K
April 23, 2019 7:07 pm
The pre-owned Azimut market has many choices ranging in size from 42 feet up to over 100 feet. A recent search of the yachting MLS turned up these popular models that can often be found priced below the $500,000 mark.
Azimut 55 Evolution [2002-11]
Overview: The Azimut 55 Evolution (called the 55 Flybridge in 2001–04) displays a styling scheme very different from earlier Azimut motoryachts. Gone are the tiered cabin windows of previous years, replaced in the 55 by a pair of distinctive fin-shaped salon windows. Also new were vertical glass panels in the hullsides, a design innovation that introduced natural lighting into the master stateroom. Stepping inside from the covered aft deck, the open-plan salon of the Azimut 55 features a C-shaped leather sofa to port and entertainment center to starboard. The galley and dining area are forward, two steps up from the salon. Below, there are three staterooms and two full heads including a full-beam amidships master, VIP queen forward, and guest cabin with side-by-side berths. Lacquered cherry wood cabinets and trim are used throughout the interior. Note the power side windows at the lower helm. Crew quarters with a single berth and toilet are aft, accessed from a hatch in the aft deck sole. The spacious flybridge has a large sun pad to starboard, opposite the helm, while a refreshment/entertainment center holds a barbecue grill, ice maker and sink. Cat 715hp C12 V-drive diesels cruise at 25–26 knots (30+ top).
Azimut 50 Flybridge [2003-10]
Overview: A popular model in the U.S., the Azimut 50 Flybridge—not to be confused with the newer Azimut 50 Flybridge introduced in 2015—is a richly appointed cruising yacht whose distinctive shark-fin windows set her apart from other yachts in this class. Offered with two or three stateroom interiors, a triple-panel sliding glass door provides entry to Azimut 50’s expansive salon. The U-shaped settee immediately to starboard converts to a double berth at the push of a button, and the cherry wood table can be raised or lowered by remote control. A facing settee is to port and the lower helm is forward, two steps up from the salon level. Opposite the helm and a few steps down is the Azimut 50’s beautifully appointed galley. The galley size depends on the layout—it’s spacious in the two-stateroom configuration (shown at left), but small when the third stateroom is added. The entire interior of the Azimut 50 is done in high-gloss cherry woodwork and trim. A washer/dryer combo is located in the crew quarters aft. A staircase to port in the covered cockpit leads to the flybridge with electric grill, wet bar, and lounge seating aft. Cat 715hp C12 diesels cruise at 26–28 knots (30+ top).
Azimut 47 Flybridge [2007-11]
Overview: Like other Azimut models from the design board of Stefano Righini, the 47 Fly combines style and grace in a motoryacht of timeless elegance. Introduced in 2007, the 47 features a three stateroom, two head layout plus optional crew quarters aft. The owner’s suite is forward with a full-size double bed, two hanging lockers, and private ensuite head. Aft from the central lobby with its nicely integrated portside galley are two doors, each leading into nearly identical twin-berth guest cabins with standing headroom at the entryways. The starboard cabin is the VIP with berths that convert to a double and access to the second head. Both heads have circular shower stalls. A portside dinette is opposite the lower helm and the U-shaped lounge aft of the helm lowers to form an extra berth. In the cockpit, a sun lounge runs along the transom and a hatch provides access to the engine compartment. Additional features include a foredeck sun pad, teak cockpit and flybridge steps, bow thruster, and flybridge grille. Powered by dependable Caterpillar 575hp C9 V-drive diesels, the 47 Fly will cruise at 25 knots (29–30 knots top).
Azimut 43 Flybridge [2007-12]
Overview: Sleek, luxurious, and powerful the Azimut 43 combines the signature features of Azimut’s larger flybridge yachts in a smaller, more personal package. The 43 is a relatively small motoryacht by European standards but there’s nothing small about the impression she makes to anyone who steps aboard. With her luxury-class accommodations and spacious flybridge, the 43 is an impressive yacht with as much eye appeal than anything in her class. The layout includes a comfortable owner’s stateroom with centerline queen berth, guest cabin with two single berths and a convertible sleeper in the main salon. Both heads contain circular stall showers. Large windows bathe the entire salon in sunlight. Headroom at the lower helm position is tight, but most 43s sold into the American market will likely be operated from the flybridge so that’s probably not a serious issue. Note the opening port over the galley counter. The flybridge is huge for a boat this size. An extended teak bathing platform, cockpit table with chairs, bow thruster, and a foredeck sun pad are all standard. On the downside, the engine room is a tight fit. Cummins 480hp diesels cruise at 24–26 knots (about 30 knots top).
Azimut Magellano 43 [2013-Current]
Overview: The Magellano is an efficient semi-displacement coastal cruiser whose distinctive styling (note the plumb bow) offers something very different in Italian motoryacht styling. Available in both flybridge and hardtop models, the yacht is fitted with first-class materials and an extensive list of standard and optional equipment designed to make living as comfortable as possible. The Magellano’s innovative layout includes three roomy cabins — a forward master with en suite head, a portside double and a starboard stowage space that can be configured as a single. A second day head is on the starboard side. A large aft swim platform makes boarding easy, and a transom cut-out provides access to the cockpit with its L-shaped lounge seating and folding table. Wide side decks are protected by sturdy railings with gates for side boarding. The 43’s flybridge helm station provides an ideal overlook. Next to it, there is a large reversible C-shaped sofa offering guests total relaxation. According to Azimut, the 43’s hull has proven as efficient at trawler speeds of 7 knots as it is at 18 knots. No lightweight, Cummins QSB 5.9 350hp V-drive diesels cruise at 15–16 knots (low 20s top).

Ch. 9 The Development of Russia
Ivan i and the rise of moscow, learning objective.
- Outline the key points that helped Moscow become so powerful and how Ivan I accomplished these major victories
- Moscow was considered a small trading outpost under the principality of Vladimir-Suzdal into the 13th century.
- Power struggles and constant raids under the Mongol Empire’s Golden Horde caused once powerful cities, such as Kiev, to struggle financially and culturally.
- Ivan I utilized the relative calm and safety of the northern city of Moscow to entice a larger population and wealth to move there.
- Alliances between Golden Horde leaders and Ivan I saved Moscow from many of the raids and destruction of other centers, like Tver.
A rival city to Moscow that eventually lost favor under the Golden Horde.
Grand Prince of Vladimir
The title given to the ruler of this northern province, where Moscow was situated.
The Rise of Moscow
Moscow was only a small trading outpost in the principality of Vladimir-Suzdal in Kievan Rus’ before the invasion of Mongol forces during the 13th century. However, due to the unstable environment of the Golden Horde, and the deft leadership of Ivan I at a critical time during the 13th century, Moscow became a safe haven of prosperity during his reign. It also became the new seat of power of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Ivan I (also known as Ivan Kalita) was born around 1288 to the Prince of Moscow, Daniil Aleksandrovich. He was born during a time of devastation and upheaval in Rus’. Kiev had been overtaken by the invading Mongol forces in 1240, and most of the Rus’ principalities had been absorbed into the Golden Horde of the Mongol Empire by the time Ivan was born. He ascended to the seat of Prince of Moscow after the death of his father, and then the death of his older brother Yury.
Ivan I. He was born around 1288 and died in either 1340 or 1341, still holding the title of Grand Prince of Vladimir.
Ivan I stepped into a role that had already been expanded by his predecessors. Both his older brother and his father had captured nearby lands, including Kolomna and Mozhaisk. Yury had also made a successful alliance with the Mongol leader Uzbeg Khan and married his sister, securing more power and advantages within the hierarchy of the Golden Horde.
Ivan I continued the family tradition and petitioned the leaders of the Golden Horde to gain the seat of Grand Prince of Vladimir. His other three rivals, all princes of Tver, had previously been granted the title in prior years. However they were all subsequently deprived of the title and all three aspiring princes also eventually ended up murdered. Ivan I, on the other hand, garnered the title from Khan Muhammad Ozbeg in 1328. This new title, which he kept until his death around 1340, meant he could collect taxes from the Russian lands as a ruling prince and position his tiny city as a major player in the Vladimir region.
Moscow’s Rise
During this time of upheaval, the tiny outpost of Moscow had multiple advantages that repositioned this town and set it up for future prosperity under Ivan I. Three major contributing factors helped Ivan I relocate power to this area:
- It was situated in between other major principalities on the east and west so it was often protected from the more devastating invasions.
- This relative safety, compared to Tver and Ryazan, for example, started to bring in tax-paying citizens who wanted a safe place to build a home and earn a livelihood.
- Finally, Moscow was set up perfectly along the trade route from Novgorod to the Volga River, giving it an economic advantage from the start.
Ivan I also spurred on the growth of Moscow by actively recruiting people to move to the region. In addition, he bought the freedom of people who had been captured by the extensive Mongol raids. These recruits further bolstered the population of Moscow. Finally, he focused his attention on establishing peace and routing out thieves and raiding parties in the region, making for a safe and calm metaphorical island in a storm of unsettled political and military upsets.
Kievan Rus’ 1220-1240. This map illustrates the power dynamics at play during the 13th century shortly before Ivan I was born. Sarai, the capital of the Golden Horde, sat to the southeast, while Moscow (not visible on this map) was tucked up in the northern forests of Vladimir-Suzdal.
Ivan I knew that the peace of his region depended upon keeping up an alliance with the Golden Horde, which he did faithfully. Moscow’s increased wealth during this era also allowed him to loan money to neighboring principalities. These regions then became indebted to Moscow, bolstering its political and financial position.
In addition, a few neighboring cities and villages were subsumed into Moscow during the 1320s and 1330s, including Uglich, Belozero, and Galich. These shifts slowly transformed the tiny trading outpost into a bustling city center in the northern forests of what was once Kievan Rus’.
Russian Orthodox Church and The Center of Moscow
Ivan I committed some of Moscow’s new wealth to building a splendid city center and creating an iconic religious setting. He built stone churches in the center of Moscow with his newly gained wealth. Ivan I also tempted one of the most important religious leaders in Rus’, the Orthodox Metropolitan Peter, to the city of Moscow. Before the rule of the Golden Horde the original Russian Orthodox Church was based in Kiev. After years of devastation, Metropolitan Peter transferred the seat of power to Moscow where a new Renaissance of culture was blossoming. This perfectly timed transformation of Moscow coincided with the decades of devastation in Kiev, effectively transferring power to the north once again.
Peter of Moscow and scenes from his life as depicted in a 15th-century icon. This religious leader helped bring cultural power to Moscow by moving the seat of the Russian Orthodox Church there during Ivan I’s reign.
One of the most lasting accomplishments of Ivan I was to petition the Khan based in Sarai to designate his son, who would become Simeon the Proud, as the heir to the title of Grand Prince of Vladimir. This agreement a line of succession that meant the ruling head of Moscow would almost always hold power over the principality of Vladimir, ensuring Moscow held a powerful position for decades to come.
