The 29m/95'2" motor yacht 'Sea Raes' (ex. Greybeard) was built by Farocean Marine at their Cape Town shipyard. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Pieter Beeldsnijder Design and she was last refitted in 2005.

Guest Accommodation

Sea Raes has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in 4 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3406B-DITA) 500hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 13 knots with a range of up to 4,000 nautical miles from her 25,500 litre fuel tanks at 11 knots. Her water tanks store around 6,430 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register classification society rules.

94′ of luxurious European styling with a Mediterranean edge, motor yacht Sea Raes was built in South Africa by Farocean Marine in 1996, and underwent a substantial refit in 2019. An extension of Australia’s iconic boutique hotel, Raes on Wategos, Sea Raes is ready to show guests the stunning East Coast of Australia in unrivalled opulence. Cruise the iconic Sydney harbour or explore the immaculate islands of the Whitsundays, a Sea Raes charter invites guests to indulge, and discover Australia’s finest offerings.

A glorious and spacious tri-deck design, Sea Raes flawlessly delivers an array of outdoor entertaining options. Her beautiful interior has been designed to accommodate four couples or two families in four well-appointed double guest cabins. When required, the vessel can allow for up to 10 guests overnight. Featuring an assortment of toys and equipment for guests of all ages and interests, fun is guaranteed onboard, with snorkelling gear, stand-up paddle boards, skis, wakeboards, SeaDoo 2UP Sparks, and an inflatable pool, trampoline and slide, all for guest enjoyment.

Sea Raes boasts a full time crew of four, including Captain, First-officer, Chef and Chief Stewardess, all dedicated to providing guests with a premier charter experience. Day charter capacity allows for up to 30 guests. Event catering options can be a seated dinner for up to 10 guests, or a standing canapé affair for up to 30, and all menus are curated by Raes Collection Executive Chef, Jason Saxby.

Promising a premier charter experience to remember, Sea Raes is currently based in Sydney until May 2023, then once again heading north to the Whitsundays from June till mid-November 2023.

CHARTER RATES 2023

Day rate per hour – AUD$2,000 plus GST, minimum 4-hour period.

This includes a lunch, dinner or canapés for up to 10 guests, the Sea Raes crew of 4, the vessel’s onboard equipment and the vessel. Additional guests and staffing for groups larger than 10 guests is an additional cost. A maximum of 30 guests is permitted.

Day charters are available midweek only. Day charters on Friday, Saturday or Sunday are on request.

• 24-hour – AUD$18,000 • Overnight w/ 2 full days – AUD$25,000 • 2 nights – AUD$32,000 • 3 nights – AUD$48,000 • 5 nights – AUD$80,000

All-inclusive rates are available for 10 guests for event and overnight charters, excluding GST. This will include marine crew, food, beverage, wharf fees, fuel and any waitstaff needed etc. Additional guests or visitors onboard may incur a fee. Pricing is noted for non-peak seasons only & ex-GST. Peak rates applicable across certain public holidays.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Beautiful boat

Very impressed with the quality of this boat. The spec is top of the line and we'll maintained. The toilets are fresh & clean. The route on the river through Moscow takes in many of the iconic sites of Moscow and is a great introduction. The food was nice. Wide selection. Service was pleasant. Get the iPod with audio for some interesting commentary. I recommend the 2 1/2 hour trip.

The standard return route from Gorky Park Pier to Hotel Ukraina Pier lasts two and a half hours with the pivot closer to the business center "Moscow-city" to the Kotelnicheskaya embankment without any stops. On weekends the departure time is at four p.m. and eight p.m. The boarding starts thirty minutes before the departure.

When I got on Radisson's cruise boats, I thought that it's a normal, boring river cruise, but 10 minutes later I found out I was totally wrong. What a beautiful view of the historical buildings of Moscow!!!! The statue that hung in the middle of Moskva River is amasing. Service is acceptable and waiters/waitresses are freindly and the food is in good quality.

Went with business group on dinner cruise, with guide. Really enjoyed the views after dark - seeing Red Square/The Kremlin from this vantage was great. And being on the top deck to view with no obstructions was worth the cold wind ! Kind of hard to eat and see the views at the same time, but the food was nothing special so we focused on the views. Service fine but not notable. Guide might as well have been a pre-recorded piece as there was no attempt to engage us - and it was hard to tell what building or view she was referring to as she just sort of looked in the direction of the item and spoke with monotone voice. Go for the views, not the food or service.

Great boat ride - see all the sights. The food is way better than you expect on a riverboat. This is a great 3 hour ride through Moscow with too many sights and views to name individually - take your camera!

It would be great to arrive before departure time inorder to enjoy your dinner. And spend the rest of the trip enjoying the scenic views. Our waiter was a gentleman. He spoke broken English. But he made great effort to explain some of the important buildings as we passed by. He made sure that our little girl was treated like a princess.
