Our boat Francesca is a cutter Ketch (2 masts and 4 sails) with a clipper bow, a traditional design by John G. Alden Design Co. (1909 -2008) of Boston. The firm is part of local history and was the Longest operating naval architecture company in the US. The boat design can be viewed at MIT museum in Cambridge.

Sunset Sail in Boston Harbor

If Boston is best seen from the water, then by far the best time to see it is during a sunset cruise on a classic Boston tall ship! We depart Fan Pier Marina and raise the sales, then it’s time to just chill out and relax.

The Star can accommodate up to 39 passengers for day sails in addition to a crew of 3. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets and enjoy some quality time out on the water with unbeatable views of the skyline sparkling in the twilight.

Drinks are available onboard for purchase via cash, credit, or Apple Pay – our menu includes several beers brewed right here in Boston! We also have red and white wine, vodka- and rum-based cocktails, soda, juice, and water available in addition to several snack options.

Snacks and bag lunches are welcome, but please no coolers or outside beverages.

There is no formal narration during our public sails, but feel free to ask the captain and crew and they’ll happily share their knowledge of local landmarks and history.

Club vessels not being used by members are available for daily or weekly rental in BOSTON and WESTPORT to persons with acceptable sailing certifications or sailing experience on vessels similar in size to those they wish to rent/charter. Rentals are taxable at the current rate of 6.25%. Rental day is 9-8. Holidays are charged weekend rates. Please CLICK HERE  to fill out your sailing resume for rental approval.

CAPTAINS AVAILABLE: Coast Guard licensed captains are available for day charters at $240/4 hours, $30/hr each additional hour.

Northern Lights measures 110-feet in length along her waterline and expands to a 28-foot beam. She was built with a beautiful mahogany bar, ceiling accents, ceiling trim, and railings.

Comfortable seating is available in the interior, first floor, climate-controlled cabin, while bench seating is provided on our open bow and covered top deck, which offers un-obscured views of Boston Harbor and the skyline! Guests are welcome on the forward deck to soak in the sun and score fantastic photographs of all the Boston Harbor sites from the water! This stunning yacht is perfect for families, romantic dates or a friendly gathering. Northern Lights can hold up 149 guests on any of our cruises. However, it is only suitable for up to 130 guests on a private cocktail or dinner event. In a frightening attack that has become a trend in the past four years, an unknown number of orcas rammed and sank a sailing yacht in Moroccan waters in the Strait of Gibraltar, Spain’s maritime rescue service reported early this week. The Alboran Cognac, a 15-meter (49-foot) yacht, was carrying two people when the boat encountered the animals, also known as killer whales, at 9 a.m. local time (7:00 GMT) on Sunday.

The passengers said they felt sudden blows to the hull and rudder as water started seeping into the ship, according to NBC News. After calling for rescue services, the passengers fled to a nearby oil tanker that took them to Gibraltar.

The yacht eventually sank.

The incident was the latest report of orca ramming around the Gibraltar Strait that separates Europe from Africa and off the Atlantic coast of Portugal and northwestern Spain. A research group called GTOA, which tracks populations of the Iberian orca subspecies, said there have been nearly 700 interactions since orca attacks on ships in the area were first reported in May 2020, NBC News reported .

Experts are confused about the probable causes. One theory is that it is a playful manifestation of the animals’ natural curiosity. Others believe it may be a fad among the highly social orcas, or deiberate targeting of what they believe to be competitors for their favorite prey, the bluefin tuna.

Experts believe the attacks involve a subpopulation of about 15 orcas that have been given the designation Gladis, Reuters reported .

Nude cruise to set sail from miami in 2025.

MIAMI – Cruisers will be able to go bare on “The Big Nude Boat” with an itinerary to set sail from Miami in 2025.

The travel company Bare Necessities is teaming up with Norwegian Cruise Line to launch an 11-day voyage from Miami to the Caribbean.

It will all take place on the 295-meter Norwegian Pearl and will set sail on Monday, Feb. 3.

According to the company’s website , pricing starts at about $2,200 per person for an inside cabin. The cruise will make stops in Great Stirrup Bay, Bahamas, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Phillipsburg, St. Maarten, Roseau, Dominica, Fort0de-France, Martinique and Castries, St. Lucia.
