No mention of the condition of, or indeed, the presence of sails??

Hi Perry. I know of someone who may well be interested, but owing to previous issues with e-bay, will neve buy or bid there again. Do you have a "buy it now" price or are you just advertising the e-bay auction for it?
JennyMorgan
MM, they are smashing little boats, good friend of of mine had one on Oulton Broad for many years. Proper little boat!
Fine JM,m but if I tell my friend that this boat is for sale, his first question is going to be "How much?" So, what do I tell him?
Just a note on Ebay: if the bids get above the reserve price and you cancel the listing, Ebay will charge you commission on the basis that it sold at the price of the latest bid. They have got wise to the trick of getting people interested then trying to avoid the charges. They will also charge you if you give out any contact details through their messaging system.
Thank you for that information. I have paid 48 pounds for the pleasure already so the fees will be what they are. I really don't like Ebay but it does help give you an idea of the interest on an item. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
Document flipped.
I have always been a fan of the "Double-Ender" or canoe stern yacht. The whys and wherefores have raged for years but I do subscribe to the "Splits the seas" brigade. A well designed canoe stern, with plenty of buoyancy above the waterline allows the sea to pass under on a run with a following sea reducing greatly the chance of a broach. Imho. In the 70s I crewed on an eight tonne Hillyard and a Fisher and I really like them.
MM, I will forward to you a copy of the advert for my friend's boat, he didn't quite achieve the asking price but it will give you a guideline price.
Thank you Peter. PM received.
Hi All Could you share some feedback I have had about 50 messages on Ebay asking for a price and as you maybe aware I cant answer as I dont know. I think now I would like at least £2500 would that be a reasonable start any thoughts would be good. Thanks Perry Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
Just seen a Westerly Centaur with working engine for under £4k. Says it all about secondhand small sailing cruisers - sadly more available than buyers! That sets the price really!
Having said that, any boat will be worth what anyone will pay, and if someone wants a small Scanner, then it really depends on how much you want the money! Probably difficult to gauge the price - I would definitely get the engine running though! Without it - anyones guess to be honest - then you might be being a tad unrealistic. But don't listen to me - I am no expert!
Check this website - noted for being towards the bargain end of the market

Andy Seedhouse yard is a must on a visit to Woodbridge! I could, and have spent hours in the yard and looking through his bits and bobs. Absolutely a wonderful place, the like of which you don't see nowadays.
In normal times The Riverside Restaurant by the theatre is right on hand for lunch, which is very good indeed. I love the whole of the Woodbridge riverside/quay area.
The maritime festival at Woodbridge is a delight, September I recall but it’s been a few years now since I last went. There were some lovely Hillyards and an Ernest Woods built boat, albeit designed by someone else, possibly Albert Strange but there was a Woods stamp on the build about the coach house and window style.
May normal times and tides be with us again soon or at least by September, it’s my birthday and wedding anniversary, half century and decade respectively... a year to remember?
If I were selling then I'd avoid 'buy it now', it's an auction, let it find it's own price.
Essentially, it seems, that she's a non runner. Her transom and cockpit combing is not designed for an outboard. Knowing the boat a lot of her attraction is that she's an able motor sailor. An honest description from the seller but I suspect that £2,500.00 is a tad optimistic. As a runner I would have thought £3k plus a little was both fair and reasonable in the present market, very much a buyer's market right now.

I agree with Marshman 100% plus on this one. Might be worth a call to these people, they do Yanma:

One problem with small cruisers is that the cost of marina moorings is out of all proportion to the cost of a boat. , especially old ones.
Very true, Broadsedge min is 20ft. But many marinas start at 24 or 25. A boat for a couple of grand costs £1000 to moor!

Sorry for adding to the thread drift but: I bought my first boat, a Seal 22 Sinbad from Andy. Great bloke, and his son will do anything to help too. There are great bargains to be had if you haggle politely and especially if you include storage into the deal. He's an old campaigner though so any sign of aggression and he'll tell you where to go.
Love Woodbridge. Favourite places: Riverside Restaurant as above, Adnams shop in the car park and Ye Olde Bell and Steelyard pub.
Ok back on topic. With big items there's always the possibility that the winner will not have viewed it before hand and may back out when they see it for the first time. It's why some people put, "you're bidding to buy not bidding to view" in the listing.
With a non running engine they are likely to win the auction, come and see if they can get it going, rub their chin and offer you less than the winning bid, hoping you'll just give in. JM is spot on; if you can get it running and edit the listing it may save you being messed about and get a better price.
My feedback rating is 597. I sold an electric guitar - collection only - for £10 and when asked the winner when he was coming over he said he couldn't because, "you live too far away". Yep, my fault because he lived in Southampton and I wrongly live in Leicestershire. I sold a Morris Minor - barn find, restoration project, non runner, no MOT - and this winner came back with, "I can't get a trailer". The time wasters usually have a very low feedback.
In an effort to be helpful I have spent a pleasant half an hour trawling Skanner 19 on Google. The original poster has an attractive boat for sale & in more normal times I suspect that she'd sell quite quickly and easily. Floydraser has highlighted the foibles of E-Bay which I'm afraid are an unfortunate reality.
That the seller has suggested that he'd convert to an outboard, I take that to mean that the present engine is knackered. It might not be but that is how I read it. I note that Yanmar sell an updated version of the original engine. I think that I'd update the E-Bay listing with the details and cost of fitting a replacement. The cost of an outboard and the structural alterations required might be more than a simple engine replacement. Not only that but judging by this picture an outboard installation takes up cockpit space and looks pretty awful!
£2,700.00, Perry, you done good!

Little weekender 'Character Yachts' are truly in a world of their own! They appeal to dreamers who relish the solitude that mud berths, creeks and drying harbours can afford. They are inexpensive to own and run and can offer more than twice the fun, with less than half the headaches, that larger yachts might provide. True, you might not want to venture far offshore (although some intrepid souls have even crossed oceans in similar) anyway, one bit of sea looks pretty much like any other in my opinion! No; these yachts are for enjoying the sailing rather than the addition of gadgets that might be purchased at great expense. They are for dropping the hook in sheltered and 'secret' havens and watching the curlews and sandpipers. For having a brew and a snooze before returning to the hurly burly of 'marina world' and basking in the comments of envious owners, those perhaps saddled with expensive complications, who murmur wistfully "my, what a pretty boat, and so sensible too!". This little beauty has a good motor which starts at the touch of a button, a good suit of sails and is in commission and ready to enjoy now since advancing years and health issues prompt regretful sale. Marina berth would be available to purchaser by seperate contract. These boat details are subject to contract. Note: Offers on the asking price may be considered.

A lovely little Gaff Cutter that with its minimal draft is ideal for pottering about creeks and hidden waterways. The lay out with a deep cockpit and three berths is ideal for a young family learning to sail These boat details are subject to contract. Note: Offers on the asking price may be considered.

Shoalwater 19' Cat / Give me the scoop, pros & cons
- Add to quote
I'm looking to buy a new boat, & pretty well settled on a cat, now it's down to what brand. I've read tons of good things about Tran Sport cats from the baby cat all the way to the 24 SVT. But here lately I've been hearing from quite a few folks that they are getting into new Shoal cat 19 for around 28 to 30K. Anyone who owns one, or has ridden & fished out of one, please give me the pros & cons of this particular boat. I've gone to Shoalwaters web page & looking at the 19 it states it runs good from a 90 to 150' but then do in the specs it states max HP is 130 ?????? Which one is it ........I would prefer the 150. Come on Shoal owners educate me Thanks
I've also been told that John over at sport marine just came out with a smaller version of the Outlaw
yes. theres a picture of it in one of the houston boat show threads. I believe the one that was titled boat that caught my eye or something like that
I had the 150 on my 19 and loved it could bet 49 easy prob more if I put a good prop on it but ran dry for the most part and smooth for a 19 ft flats boat. Im moving to the 21 now but the only bad about the 150 was if you had like 3 people in the back she would take water threw the drain holes on the deck idk if they still put those in on the new ones mine was a 09. But you still can't go wrong with a 150 better to have more then not enough. Get it and get ready to run super skinny and never look back.

the 135HO is a bad little motor...
150 all the way don't underpowered it and hate it later on.
shoalwater won't put 150 on any 19 anymore
I looked at this boat hard at the show. Decided against it due to lack of storage....
I agree but i think the one at the show had the single back hatch in the center? Man I would look at the diff dealer and get on with the full back deck. I like the outlaw but i would deff go shoalwater before j&h.
I run a 19 with a 115 E-Tec. Some of the things I like: 8-10" static draft Runs plenty shallow Fishes 3 people comfortably Awesome ride in small chop Fits my family's needs What I don't like: Very sensitive to weight dispersment Plastic hatches Shoalwater has less than stellar customer service. This could be a problem if an issue comes up
Just put my deposit down on my one from the boat show.
In the 18-19' market I'd vote for JH. We had a 19' Shoalwater Cat with a 150. The 150 in my opinion was too heavy. It would take water over the back while drifting. I like to tell people if you think of the 19 Shoalwater as a 16-17' boat you will be happy. If you think of it as a 19--not so much. It also suffers from Cat sneeze. The bigger Shoalwater Cats do NOT suffer from Cat sneeze and are great.
Thanks for everyone's opinions & thoughts, greatly appreciated. I am going to see if John at Sport marine has one of the 18 outlaws for demo....... I demoed the 23 outlaw last year, & absolute awesome boat drives like a Cadillac. But I also want to test ride the 18 SVT & 19 Shoalcat ....... Who ever thought buying a new Boat could be so **** complicated.....
Will do
The 19 footer sits low in the back and will take on water in the back with anyone back there. The 21 and 23 footer are much better about that. The shoalwater cats are great boats and run a lot smoother than flat bottoms and run pretty much as shallow as a flat bottom. I have been on a 19 foot Shoalwater Cat and just really didn't like how low it sat in the back. I guess that's probably the only downside that I can see. I think if you can afford the 21 footer, I think you'll be much happier with it compared to the 19.
Thanks James, I appreciate it. I keep hearing that is one of the biggest issues with the 19. I've got a couple more I want to check out.....might just have to move up a notch
I got a 19cat. My dad & I can fish off the back with no water coming in the back. Maybe you need to drop a few lbs, instead of spending more money....
I'm running a 115 yamaha. Top speed 41mph. Unless you're just being to haul *** 41 mph is plenty fast. For the $ you can't beat the shoalwater. The amount of walk around room is crazy. Hell we even installed another ice chest rack behind the leaning post & their is still plenty of room. It's also very stable. You won't notice people moving around as much as on other boats.
If I was buying a 18 or 19ft boat for bay fishing my choice would be a 18ft Freedom Patriot. It is an all composite, high sided cat that is superior in storage and finish compared to the shoalwater. Check it out before you buy at Rockport Marine inc and Bernies in Victoria. BTW I am not an owner of one they are just a very impressive little boat, worth a look. Good luck
This guy has it right...
The 18' Patriot can be seen in the Tracker booth at the Boat show.
Buy the Tran 19 cat....my 2 cents.
i never got water on back of my 19 cat when i was driftting boat handle water good stable even got in big storm one time and made it back with no problem . was not easy and shower but heck you will showering any boat in storm only reason sold it to go to 23 and not much of different guys 19 cat is badass boat not much of storage thats only problem but lots off ppl don't care about storage anyway i would get a 135H.O on it if i ever buy another 19 goodluck on it you will love it
Oops one more make sure u have the right prop on it before you get in the water …… ask few guys here what size prop they will help you out
I really like my 19 cat. Mine is rated for a 150. My 115 will hit around 41. Handles small chop great. Fishes three great. Looking to upgrade to a 150 in the future.

Keel: Traditional Long. Engine Type: Yanmar 1 (10) GM. Primary Fuel Type: Diesel. Description: Very pretty 19" Gaff rig cutter with Columbian pine mast and spars and a beautiful canoe stern. This boat is lying at Burnham on Crouch at present but I would be happy to sail it around the coast to Kent, Essex or the East Coast if preferred.
