The policy was written from the ground up as a stand-alone recreational boat rental insurance policy covering the period of time that the boat is being rented and is available for all non-commercially insured boats.

Does Boatsetter screen renters?

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

Pacific Shadow , a luxury yacht built in 1982, has been extensively retrofitted for today’s cruising needs. Professionally decorated and lovingly maintained, she is the perfect yacht for up to 4 couples, large groups or families to cruise in comfort in the PNW. Pacific Shadow is available for crewed charter.  Perfect for 4 couples or 2 -3 families, she sleeps 11 guest comfortably.  She has 5 staterooms (4 guest and 1 for the crew) all with ensuite heads (bathrooms for you landlubbers) and a day head (or powder room) on the main level.  

She also includes a 13' RIB dinghy with a chart plotter/fish finder, crab rings and fishing gear.  Back on board, there are two bars where you can drown your sorrows if you don't catch anything.  

Charter is handled through the Northwest's premier chartering company.  They can arrange everything from crew to food.

And Cloe and Zane: always about the yacht assuring that we were without need. And such nice, nice individuals. And we loved the “uniforms”. And, then there was you. I have been about yachts for 50 years; yes, 50. I have been aboard 10 chartered yachts with captains and crew. I know expertise. You are beyond remarkable. We felt very safe and enjoyed seeing you “in action”. Then there was your hospitality. Charming. Quite charming. And, yes, we were sad to leave. All to say, we all had a marvelous time. Well, this is Day 5 for my week long adventure on the Jamal. Grandpa & Grandma will still be with all of you for a week after we leave. We came here to relax before our big day, & we have definitely accomplished that. It was above & beyond anything we could have imagined! Alaska is beautiful & breath-taking, but not half as beautiful & breath-taking as you three ladies. The hospitality, amazing, the food, outstanding, the memories, forever! The generosity of our Captain, even though she was on a schedule, was perfect. She knew how badly I, (Allie), wanted to see whales. She found them & took the time out for us to enjoy them. Sensational sights of whales, glaciers, and bears have made this voyage on the Jamal the most fantastic way to see Alaska. Taking those narrow passages and hearing the thunderous crack of the glaciers remains for me the highlight of the trip. Thanks to you, Jennifer, we have seen as much of Alaska as possible in a short time. You took us to waterfalls, sea lions, warm & hot springs and superbly maneuvered the boat to sight whales. Travel in tandem with DK, Stacy and Megan proved to be fortuitous, with them some of our group went fishing and even saw bears in action. And, Jen, your crew of Sally, Sally Jo, and Cathy went out of their way at all times to make us extremely comfortable, well fed, and entertained. You have all enriched my life and I will miss you. Alaska will be here if we ever decide to return, but we would be lacking something if we didnt see you again.

Captain Jennifer Hanna, who also holds a U. S. Coast Guard Master’s license, has cruised the waters of Puget Sound to Alaska with her father, Jim, all of her life. Her precise navigational skills and exceptional knowledge of seamanship have been valuable assets on charters. She has recently spent a year sailing the Pacific coast to southern Mexico. Jennifer earned a Master’s of Education degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Western Washington University. She has taught elementary and middle school in the Bellingham area since 1988. Her love of the sea is reflected in her many interests which include fishing, swimming, water skiing, sailing, snorkeling and surfing. Jennifer is certified in scuba diving and First Aid.

The Pacific Northwest is a region in western North America bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and, loosely, by the Rocky Mountains on the east. Though no universally agreed upon boundary exists, a common conception includes the U.S. states of Oregon, Washington, and the Canadian province of British Columbia. Broader conceptions reach north into Alaska and Yukon, south into the coastal and mountainous regions of Northern California, and east into Idaho and western Montana, and western Wyoming to the Continental Divide. Narrower conceptions may be limited to the Northwestern U.S. or to the coastal areas west of the Cascade and Coast mountains.  The Northwest Coast is the coastal regions of the Pacific Northwest and the Northwest Plateau (also commonly known as "The Interior" in British Columbia and the Inland Empire in the United States) is the inland regions. Montlake Cut:  The Montlake Cut is the easternmost section of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, which passes through the city of Seattle, linking Lake Washington to Puget Sound. It is approximately 2,500 feet (760 m) long and 350 feet (110 m) wide. The center channel is 100 feet (30 m) wide and 30 feet (9.1 m) deep. The path along the cut was designated a National Recreation Trail as Montlake Cut National Waterside in 1971.[1]

The Cut provides a connection between Union Bay, part of Lake Washington, to the east and Portage Bay, an arm of Lake Union, to the west. It is spanned by the Montlake Bridge, a bascule drawbridge carrying Montlake Boulevard (State Route 513). Most of the land on the north shore of the Cut is occupied by the University of Washington, its medical school to the west and its stadium parking lot to the east; residences and a recreational trail occupy the south bank, which is part of the Montlake neighborhood. It is the site of the annual Windermere Cup crew regatta and the Seattle Yacht Club's Opening Day Boat Parade, both of which take place on the first Saturday in May. Puget Sound Boat Rental:  The Puget Sound region is home to the majority of Washington State citizens who live in the bustling cities and suburbs that extend north to south from Stanwood to Olympia. Most Puget Sound communities lie on either side of the north-south Interstate 5 corridor that serves as the major traffic thoroughfare of the state.

Puget Sound itself is a body of water lying east of Admiralty Inlet, through which ocean waters reach inland some 50 miles from the Pacific Coast to provide all-weather ports for ocean-going ships at Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia. The waterway is a complex and intricate system of channels, inlets, estuaries, embayments and islands.

Ballard Locks:   Tourists and locals enjoy watching the parade of yachts, sailboats, motorboats, barges and tugs passing through as the locks' water levels are adjusted to allow for safe passage between the salt water and the fresh water of the ship canal. Tillicum Village:  Tillicum Village is a Puget Sound area visitor attraction located on Blake Island just off the shore of Seattle, WA. It is believed that this attraction dates to the time period immediately preceding the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Madison Park:  Madison Park is a neighborhood in east central Seattle, Washington, USA, named after the city park at the foot of E. Madison Street on the Lake Washington shore Estates on Mercer Island:  Mercer Island Estates is the largest South End neighborhood located just south of the QFC shopping center and Mercer Island Country Club. This planned community was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and includes homes in a variety of styles, including mid-century modern, traditional, and Northwest contemporary. With wide streets and plenty of cul-de-sacs, this neighborhood is popular with families, who also enjoy Wildwood Park and its proximity to the nearby South End shopping center.

Fremont Cut:  The Fremont Cut is a body of water that forms part of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, which passes through the U.S. city of Seattle and links Lake Washington to Puget Sound. The Fremont Cut connects Lake Union to the east with Salmon Bay to the west. It is 5,800 feet (1,800 m) long and 270 feet (82 m) wide. The center channel is 100 feet (30 m) wide and 30 feet (9.1 m) deep.

The Fremont Cut is spanned by the Fremont Bridge, a bascule drawbridge that connects the neighborhoods of Fremont and Queen Anne via Fremont Avenue North. A campus of Adobe Systems and the headquarters for Tableau Software are located at the north-eastern quadrant of this intersection of bridge and canal, and an office of Google is located on the north-western quadrant. Meydenbauer Bay in Bellevue:  The Bellevue Marina lies between the foot of 99th Avenue Northeast and 100th Avenue Southeast on the south side of downtown Bellevue. Depending upon the pier, the marina may be accessed from either street. From Interstate 405, take the NE 8th Street exit west. Turn left on Bellevue Way Southeast. Turn right on Main Street and proceed until reaching either the 100th Avenue Southeast or 99th Avenue Northeast intersections (Please note that Main Street turns into Lake Washington Boulevard Northeast at the 100th Avenue Southeast intersection.) Estate with Full T-Rex skeleton inside: Nathan Myhrvold became fascinated with dinosaurs and visited the filming of the “Jurassic Park” sequel in 1996 and met the film’s consultant and world-leading paleontologist, Jack Horner. Horner convinced Nathan to use some of his Microsoft multimillions to fund a dinosaur bone digging foundation. His foundation has recovered more tyrannosaurus rex skeletons than the total previously found by everyone else. He has given most of them to museums including the Smithsonian. In-side the big rounded windows of his living room he has one of the t-rex skeletons he helped dig up.

Bill Gates House: Originally purchasing the lakefront property for $2 million in 1988, Gates has done everything in his power to ensure his dream home doesn't have a negative impact on the environment. Built into a hill as part of its earth-sheltered design, Gates was concerned about potential runoff from the walls of the massive estate. To combat the problem, he collaborated with the two architectural firms who designed the home to create an artificial stream on the property to catch the runoff. And, in true Gates fashion, he took the design up a notch and has the stream stocked with salmon and trout giving even the wildlife a fisheye view of the most expensive home in America.

Fisherman's Terminal –  Fishermen's Terminal is a dock for Seattle, Washington's commercial fishing fleet, on Salmon Bay in the Interbay neighborhood, east of the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and immediately west of the Ballard Bridge.

Hunts Point & City of Kirkland:   Incorporated in 1955, the Town of Hunts Point is located on the eastern shore of Lake Washington just north of the SR520 bridge. Once a camping ground for the Sammamish Indian tribe, this residential community of single-family residences is home to just under 500 residents. Hunts Point is one of the smallest municipalities in Western Washington, yet its bucolic feel and proximity to Seattle and the Eastside help make it a highly desirable place to live. Seattle Skyline: From 1903 to 1904, Seattle's tallest building and first steel-framed skyscraper is constructed. Five stars! The boat was gorgeous; but, the staff was VERY hospitable, and went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our experience.

How many times can you say, "I rented a private yacht for the night?" Not very often when you're in my income bracket. But thanks to my job and my role in planning meetings and events, I got to finally check renting a yacht off my list. Setting up the event was easy. A phone call, talking through options and placing a deposit secured the boat. It wasn't inexpensive, but it also wasn't bad since food and drinks are included for our 25 guests. For food, there are several options to choose from. You can do appetizer stations, have appetizers passed while people are enjoying cocktails, or you can skip apps and just do dinner. For dinner we opted for a sit down meal, but they also offer a buffet. For the plated meal, you get to choose two proteins, a starch and a vegetable. I chose a filet, mahi mahi, potatoes and carrots. The meal also comes with a spinach salad and bread. They kept the drinks flowing throughout, and for dessert we selected the chocolate cake. The boat is nice, the staff super, and cruising around is awesome! Sadly, the food is the low point. For appetizers we had a mix of things, including seared beef, spanakopita, samosas, chicken satay and bruschetta. The appetizers were pretty good but the bruschetta was served on stale crackers. I always thought the point of bruschetta was the bread. Also disappointing was the filet and mahi mahi. The filet was ordered medium to accommodate different tastes...middle of the road, I figured. Every filet was well done and the sauce tasted only of mustard. The fish was like shoe leather...so overdone. I ended up eating the salads and sides. I know it's difficult to cook on a boat, but what about cooking the filet whole and then carving it? Or just get someone who knows how to cook. If I were to do this again, I'd skip the food altogether, or maybe just do appetizers (I can buy the bread for them). People still had fun, even with the bad food. Just being on the water makes everything better.

3.5 Stars! My friend and I were running a little behind, but were able to get there in plenty of time and did not have to take a running jump to get on the boat. (woo hoo!) We were aiming for a Cherry Blossom tour, but the trees weren't on our side this time. The cruise itself was fine, as it took us around. I didn't really notice anything of note, except the Washington Monument in the distance. (This could just be my ignorance as well.) There was a deceptive display of coffee urns and mugs, but there was not coffee. That was disappointing. The bottom deck had several chairs in rows, and upstairs there are a few tables. You can also go outside on either end of the vessel. If you are on the bottom in the back, it's really loud, as that's where the motor is. Upstairs has cushioned seats and the engine isn't as noisy up there. In the front, there is some seating as well and it can also be loud if it's windy. We didn't buy anything from the snack station as we had just eaten, but I saw that they had a decent snack selection.

Planned my wedding here in exactly one month. Rachel did a wonderful job coordinating the most cost efficient option for us and we were able to personalize so much of our big day. My groom and I were very pleased with how everything looked and ended up. Our food was delicious, we were able to upgrade to a carving beef station since we had seafood allergies on board and our guests were waited on quite well. DJ Fred was in touch with us beforehand and did everything we requested. The only hiccup was parking, which we thought we had figured out using the parking garage under the Safeway until that was full and a family member had to panic for parking fast. The wharf is under construction and to my knowledge, working on adding better parking. We both highly recommend the capital elite for a small wedding, because how many people can say they got married on a private yacht?!

Great night on the Capital Elite for our company. The staff on the yacht were amazing, helpful and professional. The food was awesome. Nothing but positive feedback from our company employees about the night.

I've been planning class trips to Washington, D.C. for groups of eighth graders for over six years. Every year, we make sure to request this cruise around the Potomac, and every year it's a highlight for the children.

My wife and I had our wedding reception at the Capital Elite private yacht in DC at the beginning of the Spring. Our overall experience with Entertainment Cruises was terrible. I am giving two stars average because Mary (the general manager who I give 3 stars) made a very good job cleaning up the mess made by the other staff members that worked with us initially. I would give negative numbers to Jennifer and Kimi if I could. When we were still negotiating the contract the customer service was great. We got all our initial questions answered within hours. As soon as we signed the contract and made the initial payment, the customer service changed in it's entirely. 1. My wife and I agreed to meet for the first time with our wedding coordinator (Jennifer Johnston) to review planning-related matters on a Saturday at 12:00pm. As we arrived at the parking lot, I asked my wife and in-laws to stay inside the car and wait for me to come back with Jennifer to grant us access to the parking lot. When I arrived at the office, I noticed that only one lady was inside doing the cleaning and she told me that the office was closed. I mentioned to her that I had an appointment, and she brought another wedding coordinator with her. She mentioned that Jennifer already left the office, and asked me if I was the guy of the appointment that was rescheduled at 4. When I mentioned to her I had an appointment at 12, and I show her a confirmation of the appointment, she tried to cover Jennifer. The bottom line is that the other wedding coordinator couldn't get ahold of Jennifer (she ended up arriving 1 1/2 hours late). We were told it was a personal emergency (which we decided to believe) 2. We had a telephone conversation with our wedding coordinator's manager (Kimi) during the upcoming week to explain the situation, and to express our concerns regarding the before mentioned incident and the fact that Jennifer was nowhere to be found, and we were not even notified. Kimi asked us to CC her in every email we sent to Jennifer moving forward, we agreed that it was not necessary as we understood it was a personal emergency and we wanted Jennifer to feel good about working with us, and we all agreed that we will be informed moving forward. 3. We sent several questions and made a few requests to Jennifer during the upcoming weeks, that in most cases required a yes or no answer. She took forever to answer (a couple of times it took more than a week) and a few times she left us hanging for that long. We explicitly mentioned during the previous phone call with Kimi that it is expected to get at least a courtesy call or email, letting us know that they were still working on our request. 4. Working with Kimi was basically the same thing. The final stroke was when we requested a clean amended contract containing the agreements made based on our questions and requests. The contract was not ready when Kimi agreed to have it. That was not a problem, the problem was that we email her to ask when it was going to be ready in order to plan our agenda and spend time reviewing it... She answered that she sent the contract that morning. We asked to forward the email again (I normally resend emails when they are not received) and she mentioned she was unable to send it, and that she will send it "again" during the morning. The contract was a joke, she basically copied and pasted the text of the previous contract into a word document and made last minute changes; several paragraphs were chopped off and the overall aspect of the document was very unprofessional not to mention that the document was timestamped with that day's date. This is completely unacceptable and makes the integrity of a person and a company to be questioned. 5. Moving forward we worked with the regional manager (Mary) as we escalated the issue to her. She was helpful and made things move forward in the right direction. 6. We thought the wedding reception went smoothly, as the staff was attentive with us during the reception. We found out later via guests, that there was not enough food to serve all our guests. We paid for a lunch buffet and they run out of food during the first serving even though a couple of our guests didn't attend to the reception. This is completely unacceptable! We spend more than half of our budget on the reception and paid a premium price for a tiny and intimate reception (30+ people). I would not recommend the Capital Elite Private Yacht/Entertainment Cruises for celebrating your once in a life time event. Once you signed the contract and made the initial payment, you will be at their mercy. If you decide to work with them, make sure to read the fine print off the contract (as you should), don't pay in full until you are satisfied with the agreements, and work very closely with them or they will forget about you.

Great night for our annual trip to DC. The staff on the yacht were amazing and professional. The food is excellent. This is a great option for a large group. This was our second year using Capital Elite, they did not disappoint!

I am giving these guys 5 stars purely because of Kimi Williams' follow-up. We had been working with Paul from Elite and he was very accommodating in organizing our event. The cruise and food were great especially the salmon with the best beurre blanc sauce I've ever tasted! The yacht and view was wonderful and elegant. Our group increased headcount the night before and Elite placed a special order of alcohol. In the end, we didn't need the extra headcount. We reached a compromise with Kimi's help. Kimi was able to get Elite to work with us and provide a credit and partial refund for the unconsumed liquor. We will definitely use them again.

Cruise was pretty good. I went with a pretty large group. The boat picked us up right from the hotel and off we went. The crew was nice, food was decent but very heavy. For some reason, I think I am more of a fan of the appetizers. They were all delicious. The cruise I went on was open bar with top shelf liquor. Always good. My only complaint was that when I would get another drink, unless I abandoned the drink somewhere, I got a refill in the same glass with old ice etc. While mildy annoying, I wasn't paying, so I can endure it. Not sure about how much it cost, but it was interesting to take a cruise up and down the Potomac and get a different view than you would otherwise.

An abandoned, burned boat and 2 missing men: South African authorities investigate maritime mystery

CAPE TOWN, South Africa — South African authorities searching for a missing charter boat captain are concerned about possible foul play after they discovered his vessel burned and abandoned on a beach in neighboring Mozambique, but no sign of him or the unknown man who hired him.

The National Sea Rescue Institute raised the alarm over captain John Matambu and his passenger after they didn’t return to Sodwana Bay on South Africa’s northeastern coast on Saturday evening having gone out early that morning.

The charred wreck of Matambu’s speed boat, Magnum Too, was discovered by a search plane on Sunday in the Dobela area of Mozambique, some 170 kilometers (105 miles) up the coast.

“Both men remain missing in unknown circumstances,” the National Sea Rescue Institute said.

Matambu’s cousin told local media that a petrol canister and a medical kit were found near the boat.

The NSRI said some of the circumstances “appear to indicate that foul play may be involved.”

The man who hired Matambu to take him out on the 21-foot (6.4-meter) boat apparently gave false contact details, NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said. The booking was made for a man, his wife and a child, but only the man boarded the boat, Lambinon said.

“Hopes are that this has all been a misunderstanding, and foul play was not involved, but at this stage all possibilities are being examined,” Lambinon told national broadcaster SABC. “The fact that the boat has been found across the border is obviously the difficulty now.”

The NSRI received a report that the boat was spotted at 10 p.m. Saturday night heading north toward Mozambican waters, it said, the last sighting before its charred hull was discovered the following day.

The Police Sea Borderline Control agency and the Police Search and Rescue unit are also involved in the search. Authorities described Matambu as a well-known, experienced and respected boat captain in Sodwana Bay.
