Designed by Morelli and Melvin and built by Robertson and Caine, the 2011 Leopard 38 has earned awards for the Best Multihull Cruiser and theImport of the Year in 2011 from Cruising World Magazine.All of Cruising World Magazine's Boat of the Yearjudges agreed that the Leopard 38 and the Sunsail 384 are well executed and that the designers have provided a good balance between performance, accommodation, safety, and practicality. Cruising World Magazine noted, if youre looking for a well-designed catamaran that will take care of you no matter where you cruise, the Leopard 38/Sunsail 384 may be just what you had in mind.

With the foregoing in mind, s/v Marshelle is likely the finest example of a 2011 Robertson and Caine, Leopard 38 available. The present owner is a former heavy airline mechanic and this couple's attention to detail and pride in ownership shows!

She is a 4 cabin 2 head layout. The starboard side head is a manual flush toilet and the port side head is a composting head. Both heads have a stand alone shower separate from the toilets. The port side shower is being used as a laundry room with a washer. The clothes washer can easily be removed and converted to the original shower, if desired. The forward starboard closet has been converted to a pantry that can be returned to it's original condition, if desired. The galley has a new drawer refrigerator and drawer freezer as well as an additional well thought out folding counter to the right of the stove to create additional counter space.

The creature comforts in this vessel include, but are not limited to, a full cockpit enclosure, new cockpit cushions, new salon cushions, new hatch lenses and seals, hatch covers, winch covers, helm cover, an electric sea water pump with faucets at the bow and transom, a Spectra Catalina 300 12.5 gph water maker, 700w of solar, a wind generator, an external Honda generator, a power winch at the helm, stainless steel dinghy davits with an electric winch, a washing machine, and additional USB ports for charging have been installed.

In addition to these comfort items, Marshelle has fresh bottom paint applied in May 2023. The engines have low hours and folding propellers. It is equipped with a 45 lb. Mantus anchor with 200' of 3/8" galvanized chain.

It is noteworthy that she has an air draft of 63' making her Intercoastal Waterway (ICW) friendly.

The Leopard 38 is known for providing a good balance between performance, accommodation, safety, and practicality.

Catywampus has the the four cabin, two head layout. She is air conditioned with two 16,000 btu units. With the new generator they can be run while under way or at anchor. The cherry-finished interior is attractive. Her four cabins provide practical shelving, hanging lockers, seats, and good lighting and ventilation through fixed ports, opening ports, and hatches. The berths are quite roomy and secure.

Engine noise is minimized in the rear berths because the engines are mounted aft and separated from the cabins by a watertight bulkhead rather than mounted under the aft bunks, as they are on some other cats.

Another notable feature is the electric davit which provides one of the industry's easiest ways of hoisting the dinghy. (Dinghy not included)

With her generous sail plan and stepped hull design, this yacht provides excellent performance under sail. The cat is stiff but also relatively light, combined with an easily managed total working sail area of 990 square feet. Twin fixed keels and spade rudders allow owners to sail in water that's 4 feet deep, but they still allow superb maneuverability, upwind performance, and speed under sail.

The hardtop bimini over the cockpit provides superior protection from the elements and also offers a stable working platform. Mounted on the hardtop bimini are two semi-flexible solar panels. The raised helm to the starboard side provides great visibility for the skipper plus helps to create more space in the cockpit. Forward is the trampoline area, perfect for soaking up the sun in the afternoons with a book!

Stainless steel electric davits make stowing the dinghy easy.

The exterior of the Leopard 38 is equally well thought out, with a large cockpit hardtop providing excellent shade and weather protection and a powerboat-style stepped transom enabling easier boarding. The vertical front windscreens give superb panoramic visibility, more effective use of interior volume as well as sun protection. Environmental considerations were also central to the design, with solar panels installed as standard on the helm hardtop to charge the onboard batteries.

Apart from sailing beautifully, this Admiral 38 has an incredible feeling of space. The roomy, open galley-up is brilliantly laid out and rivals that of a much larger catamaran. Everywhere are handy lockers. With the beautiful joinery work and wood accents there is an attractive feel of high-end design with a comfortable and functional homeliness.

The Admiral 38 came in owner and charter versions. The owner version accommodates 3 double bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms, an 8 seat dining table in the saloon with additional extensive entertainment areas on aft and fore decks. The galley is “galley up” with oven, large deep freeze, refrigerator etc. The spacious elegant saloon with 6 ft 4 inches headroom.′ It’s 23′ beam creates stability and space equal to or superior to many 40′ Cats. The charter version has 4 bedrooms, 2 heads.

The Admiral build quality is workman like and have competent joinery work, built sturdy and nice (polyurethane paint on inside instead of veneer ). It is one of those catamarans where they extended the transom on later models so they could sell it at a higher price. These boats are one of the best boats for the money, a great bargain without sacrificing quality and make great live-aboards. Consider that the bridgedeck clearance is high enough that it will suffice and isn’t a draw back. As they were often sailed on the 7,000 mile delivery from South Africa to the Caribbean, you KNOW these are fully blue water capable!
