- Location Picking the right location for your party is key. What kind of scenery do you prefer? For example beaches, or a cityscape. Are water activities a priority? Is there a particular location that offers things to do beyond the yacht charter (an island to visit, a restaurant to dine in, etc.)?
- Weather Optimal weather is a factor when considering the location. Weather varies depending on the season, so make sure you check your potential destination to make sure you’re not planning a trip during a stormy season! Or, if a little rain doesn’t bother you, opt for a vessel that has plenty of cabin/covered space for you and your guests.
- Party Theme Do you want to let loose and throw the party of the year? Or is your event to be more of a sophisticated evening with fine dining? Parties come in many shapes and forms and Boataffair can cater to each end of the spectrum.
- Food and drink Boataffair can arrange for a chef to cook your party a gourmet meal onboard or organize an evening on land at a 5-star restaurant. Onboard snacks, drinks, and alcohol can also be requested.

How many people can fit on a party yacht?
Most of our private yachts are designed to legally carry a maximum of 12 people. This is because a yacht which carries more than 12 people it is considered a 'Passenger ship' and must comply with extensive SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) regulations.
Can you have more than 12 guests on a yacht?
At Boataffair, we do not typically rent out boats for more than 12 people. This is due to Boataffair’s focus on private, premier yachting.
We don't operate as a mass-market service; instead, we reserve our boats for boutique experiences for families, groups of friends, and couples. This is why most of our yachts are limited to 12 people or less.
Additionally, many of our motor yachts are designed to legally carry no more than 12 people, and often overnight stays allow for a maximum of 8-10 people.
You’ll want to keep in mind how many people can fit on a yacht before you start building your guest list. But don't worry, you can have wonderful birthday parties on our yachts with less than 12 people!
Please reach out to us if you have questions about your guest list and we will work with you to find a yacht option that best matches your party style. We do have some options that allow for big groups, but we specialize in and excel with parties of 12 or less as well.

Aristotle Onassis purchased the vessel — originally a convoy escort called the Stormont — at scrap value, turning it into his floating mansion, which he called the Christina. For almost two decades, the yacht served as a meeting place, a reception hall, and the " world's most exclusive bar ."

Notable guests over the years included a long list of Hollywood stars, from Elizabeth Taylor to Marilyn Monroe . Frank Sinatra, John Wayne, and Richard Burton also visited, alongside royalty such as the Prince and Princess of Monaco.
Today, the luxury yacht can be rented for $100,000 per day . With 17 cabins, the ship remains one of the few yachts able to accomodate 34 overnight guests. Additionally, the Christina O is capable of carrying up to 157 guests while cruising and up to 250 guests while docked .

Electric rv, bowlus rivet luxury rv allows for ‘indefinite time’ off-grid with yacht-quality battery and solar.
Oh, and did I mention it can park itself? Bowlus revealed its most rugged travel trailer yet, the off-grid Rivet. The Bowlus Rivet features a “yacht-quality” battery and solar power system that allows “indefinite time off-grid in all conditions.”
Trailblazing the luxury electric RV market
Bowlus is best known for upgrading travel. In 1934, he launched the first aluminum travel trailer. As the story goes, Bowlus blazed the trail years before Airstream’s iconic “Silver Bullet” hit the market.
The company has continued its history of innovation with products like the first fully aluminum monocoque space frame. The new design reduces an RV’s weight by about half compared to similar-sized models.
Bowlus has used the design to enable easier towing, fusing it with a luxurious interior and best-in-class comfort.
In 2016, Bowlus launched the first lithium-powered RV, complete with a 4kWh lithium-ion power system. The system provided enough off-grid energy for a week. This included air conditioning for the first time.
Bowlus released the Volterra in 2022, calling it “the world’s first all-electric RV.” Starting at $310,00, the Volterra featured 17 kWh of power, solar panels, kitchen essentials, EV charging, and more.
Following the Volterra’s success, Bowlus revealed plans to become the first fully electric RV company.
Meet the new 2025 Bowlus Rivet Luxury RV
Bowlus launched its most rugged travel trailer yet, the 2025 Rivet luxury RV. At 3,500 lbs, the Bowlus Rivet is “towable by the most extensive selection of vehicles of any other full-sized RV,” including EVs like the Tesla Model Y .
The Bowlus Rivet luxury RV includes a robust power system with a “yacht-quality” 8 kWh lithium battery and up to 660 W of solar power generation.
Bowlus says the system allows “indefinite time off-grid in all conditions.” Like its other models, the Rivet can run appliances like air conditioning and heating off-grid with its best-in-class Bowlus Power Management System and AeroSolar.
The Rivet is also the first production RV to be self-propelled, self-powered, and remote-controlled from essentially anywhere. It also includes a 3″ lift kit and added off-road tires.
With AeroMove, the Rivet can drive up steep slopes, turn 360 degrees, and fit into campsites, driveways, or parallel parking spaces. According to Geneva Longer, founder and CEO, AeroMove is a camper’s dream that the company has quietly been working on for over five years.
Bowlus EasyHitch also allows you to hook on the trailer in under 60 seconds, according to the company.
The Rivet’s (25′ 3″) compact floor plan features a separate bedroom, a luxury bathroom, and spacious living and kitchen.
You also get a hotel-style shower, fridge/freezer, air conditioning, heat, two-burner induction cooktop, faucet, microwave, plenty of storage, and more.
The 2025 Bowlus Rivet Luxury EV is $148,500 after the tax credit. If you want the AeroMove feature, it will cost you an additional $10,000.

Man charged months after victim falls off boat, dies in Biscayne Bay

MIAMI – A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, nearly six months after a passenger on his boat died after falling into the waters of Biscayne Bay, authorities said.
Eric Rodriguez, of Miramar, is charged with manslaughter while boating under the influence and vessel homicide/operating in a reckless manner.

According to his arrest report, Rodriguez was driving his 26-foot Sea Hunt boat at a high rate of speed on the night of Sept. 23, 2023 as it was dark outside and raining.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers said the boat was heading north in the Intracoastal Waterway in Biscayne Bay with Rodriguez and six passengers onboard.
GPS data shows that the boat had left Miami Marine Stadium and had been traveling in and out of the channel at about 46 mph in a 30 mph zone, the report stated.
According to the report, as the boat was passing the 79th Street Causeway, one of the passengers, Justin Sosa, moved from the back of the boat to the starboard (right) side of it.
FWC officers said Rodriguez then struck a channel marker in the water, causing Sosa to be thrown from the boat and strike his head on the channel marker.
Rodriguez didn’t stop the boat until other passengers alerted him that Sosa had fallen overboard, authorities said.
Officers said the group searched for Sosa and one passenger called 911.
Rescue divers found Sosa’s body a few hours later in the morning at the bottom of the bay near Channel Marker #20, the report stated.
According to the report, an autopsy revealed that Sosa died from blunt force injuries.
Officers said Rodriguez smelled of an alcoholic beverage as they were speaking with him and said passengers onboard his boat confirmed that he had been drinking vodka while at Miami Marine Stadium.
Toxicology results showed he had a blood-alcohol level of .079 about six hours after the crash, according to the report.

Ukraine’s first lady declines State of the Union invitation

Olena Zelenska, Ukraine’s first lady, declined an invitation from the White House to attend Thursday’s State of the Union address, forgoing one of Washington’s most dignified events and underscoring the complicated politics facing her war-torn country.
The intent had been to seat first lady Jill Biden near Zelenska and Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died last month in an Arctic prison, according to officials familiar with the planning. The image of both women, each a symbol of resistance to Russian President Vladimir Putin, would offer a powerful backdrop to President Biden’s address to a joint session of Congress.
But Navalnaya’s potential presence caused discomfort for the Ukrainians, said people familiar with Kyiv’s deliberations. Though her late husband is widely hailed as an anticorruption icon who risked his life to oppose Putin, Navalny’s legacy in Ukraine is clouded by past statements that Crimea, which Putin annexed in 2014, belonged to Russia.
Even though Navalny’s views later evolved into support for Ukraine’s internationally recognized 1991 borders, many Ukrainians view him as out of step with Kyiv’s goals.
“While in the West, we have always thought of him as someone who fought bravely and courageously against Putin, in Ukraine, Navalny is seen as in line with a mind-set of Russian nationalism and imperialism,” said Alina Polyakova, president of the Center for European Policy Analysis, a Washington think tank.
“Navalny opposed Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, of course, but in 2014, when Russia first invaded Ukraine, he very much was in line with a general Russian view that saw Crimea as part of Russia’s historical lands,” Polyakova said.
A White House official said Zelenska’s decision was probably due to “schedule conflicts,” and referred further questions to Zelenska’s office, adding that the seating arrangement is a detail finalized near the end of the process.
Zelenska’s office said Wednesday that the embassy in Washington did receive an invitation for the first lady to attend the State of the Union address.
“However, due to scheduled events, including a planned visit to Kyiv with children from an orphanage, the First Lady, unfortunately, won’t be able to participate in the event,” it said.
Navalnaya also declined to attend Biden’s address, according her spokeswoman, who cited fatigue as a factor.
“Yulia was indeed invited and considered going, but I think everyone forgets the circumstances against which the events unfolded,” said Navalnaya spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh. “Yulia’s husband died two weeks ago. She’s been traveling all this time. Today is the first day she’s been home at all. Like any human being, she needs time to recover, and so while she very much appreciates the invitation, she needs to recover at least a little now.”
One U.S. official said the White House likely did not inform Kyiv that Navalnaya had decided against attending, though her presence wasn’t the only concern for the Ukrainians, according to people familiar with the situation, who like some others interviewed for this report spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private discussions.
Another issue for Kyiv, as it seeks additional U.S. security assistance, is being viewed as too closely aligned with Biden. The president has been Ukraine’s chief advocate, but the government of Zelenska’s husband, President Volodymyr Zelensky, has sought to avoid further politicization of the war effort.
At the moment, Ukraine is desperately lobbying House Republicans to allow a vote on Biden’s request for $60 billion in aid — a package opposed by the likely Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump . Ukraine is running low on artillery against Russia’s better-equipped forces and is beginning to lose strategic towns along the front lines.
While urging lawmakers to support the funding measure, Ukraine does not want to offend Republicans, who could control the White House next year depending on the outcome of November’s election.
“The Ukrainians are very sensitive to our internal political dynamics,” said Polyakova.
When Zelensky traveled to Washington in December, he took great pains to cast aid for Ukraine as a bipartisan cause. “He had the same challenge of trying to walk a very fine line to not appear as too supportive of President Biden, even though he of course favored Biden’s agenda to arm and equip Ukraine,” she said.
In his remarks on Thursday, Biden is expected to urge House Republicans to pass Ukraine funding “as quickly as possible,” said a White House official.
Each year, the first lady invites a range of individuals to join her at the State of the Union, and the president will often mention them in his speech as he highlights or promotes a certain policy or issue area.
The White House has not announced the first lady’s guests for this year beyond Kate Cox , a Dallas-area woman who traveled outside of Texas to receive an abortion because of the state’s near-total ban on the procedure. Cox sought an abortion after she learned her fetus had a typically fatal genetic condition and that carrying the pregnancy to term could jeopardize her fertility in the future.
Last year, Jill Biden brought a number of guests, including the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova. Among the other guests were Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), a Holocaust survivor, a father who lost a daughter to a fentanyl overdose and a cancer survivor.
Lawmakers also bring guests, and among those expected to attend this year are the parents of Evan Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter who has been detained in Russia. Others include the first person born via in vitro fertilization in the United States and families of hostages being held in the Gaza Strip .

In Texas, a ‘Once-in-a-Generation’ Brawl for Control of the G.O.P.
Attorney General Ken Paxton is out for revenge. Gov. Greg Abbott wants private school vouchers. Both want to bring down incumbent Republicans in Tuesday’s primary and shift the state further to the right.

Rarely have intraparty battles between Republicans in Texas been as bitter, protracted and consequential as the primary contests culminating in Election Day on Tuesday.
The fights have primarily focused on members of the Texas House who angered many conservative voters last year by impeaching the Republican attorney general, Ken Paxton, on charges of corruption and abuse of office. Mr. Paxton, who was acquitted in the Texas Senate, vowed revenge, and number one in his sights has been the house speaker, Dade Phelan.
Gov. Greg Abbott has also been going after a number of Republicans in the Texas House, seeking to unseat those who opposed his plan to use public money to help families pay for private and religious schools.
Aggressive campaigning by both statewide leaders is amplifying tensions that have simmered for years between the party’s old guard and a more socially conservative faction aligned with former President Donald J. Trump that sees Tuesday’s vote as a chance to shift the balance of power in the Texas House, which has served as a moderating force in the state’s politics.
The fight is not unique to Texas as Republicans across the country and in Congress engage in a struggle for control of the party. But the outcome could reverberate widely if Republicans in Texas, the most populous and wealthiest conservative state, decide the state needs to move even further to the right.
“This is a once-in-a-generation election,” said Nick Maddux, a Republican consultant who is working with Mr. Paxton and for Republican candidates in more than a dozen races.
If the two chambers of the Texas Legislature came out of the election aligned further to the right, “it would be the most conservative legislative body in the country,” said Brendan Steinhauser, a Republican consultant who has done work with school voucher supporters. “Dade and his allies are the only thing preventing that from happening.”
The flood of outside money and the sheer number of contests, including more than two dozen races seen as competitive, have forced longtime representatives into nail-biting fights for their political lives. Those involved in raising money said the primary appeared likely to be the most expensive yet seen in Texas, a state famous for big campaign spending.
To fund his statewide push, Mr. Abbott received a $6 million campaign contribution — the single largest in state history — from a Pennsylvania billionaire, Jeff Yass, who supports school voucher programs . A pair of West Texas billionaires who have long backed Christian conservative causes put in more than $2 million to help candidates aligned with Mr. Paxton. Millions more have been spent to defend Mr. Phelan and his embattled colleagues.
“It’s uniformly the most painful election we’ve experienced,” Mr. Phelan said, referring to his own experience and that of his colleagues.
Greeting voters this week in Vidor, Texas, near the Louisiana border, Mr. Phelan — wearing a white T-shirt and a camouflage hat, both imprinted with his name — bristled at his opponent’s claims that the Texas House under his leadership had not advanced conservative causes.
“We went from 50,000 abortions to 34, and they’re saying that that’s not pro-life. We have constitutional carry. You no longer have to get a permit from the government to carry a firearm, and they were saying that’s not good enough because convicted felons can’t have them,” Mr. Phelan said. “Tell me what’s left to do? Mandatory carry?”
In addition to trying to oust the Republican state representatives like Mr. Phelan who backed the attorney general’s impeachment last year, Mr. Paxton is trying to remake the state’s highest criminal court by unseating three Republican judges who serve on the Court of Criminal Appeals.
He has criticized the judges as Republicans-in-name-only for their part in an 8-1 ruling by the all-Republican court finding that the state Constitution did not allow Mr. Paxton to unilaterally prosecute criminal cases of voter fraud without going through local district attorneys.
Sharon Keller, the presiding judge and one of those facing a challenge, said she was surprised at the attacks. “I’ve always been criticized, if anything, for being too conservative,” she said in a television interview .
At the same time, Mr. Paxton is facing criminal charges, dating to a 2015 indictment for securities fraud. Arguments over details that have delayed that case have already been before the top criminal court whose judges he is now attacking.
While both Mr. Abbott and Mr. Paxton have been going after incumbent Republicans, their interests are not always aligned. And Mr. Abbott has himself faced challenges from the hard right of his party, including in his 2022 primary .
In the Houston suburb of Katy on Monday evening, Mr. Abbott appeared with State Representative Jacey Jetton, who supported the governor’s private school voucher plan but had voted to impeach Mr. Paxton. It was the third time the governor had traveled to the area in support of Mr. Jetton during the primary.
In an interview, Mr. Jetton lamented the large number of mailers and advertisements against him, particularly those suggesting that he supported the “trans agenda.” He clarified that he was a co-sponsor of a ban on gender-transition care for minors.
“There are a number of candidates that are running on complete lies,” he said. “If they win, I think that puts us in a dangerous direction.”
Nowhere has the campaign been as hard-fought as in the Southeast Texas district that Mr. Phelan has represented since 2015, and where his family has been prominent in business for generations. A boulevard in Beaumont, the largest nearby city, carries the family name, as does a shopping plaza. He has not faced an opponent of either party in a decade.
Mr. Phelan is being challenged by David Covey, a local Republican Party activist and technical adviser to the oil and gas industry who has promised to help make the Texas House more like the lock-step conservative Senate.
Mr. Covey, who described himself as a “very committed Christian and a conservative,” said in a telephone interview that Mr. Phelan and other representatives in Austin were too accommodating to Democrats and had lost touch with what Republican voters want.
“The conflict comes from elected leaders not listening to the Republican voters and the majority of the Republican activists,” he said.
His campaign has been bolstered by third-party groups like Texans United for a Conservative Majority, backed by West Texas oil and gas money, and catapulted into the national spotlight by an endorsement from Mr. Trump, who called Mr. Covey out of the blue to offer it.
“It was an incredible moment in my personal life and in the campaign,” Mr. Covey said. “His message was, as Texas goes, so goes the nation.”
Mr. Phelan, for his part, has been supported by Rick Perry, the former Republican governor, who has held two events for the speaker in recent weeks.
At one point in the race, online entertainers, posing as supporters of Mr. Phelan and claiming to have a transgender child and a fentanyl addiction, knocked on doors in the district , including Mr. Phelan’s own house. He was not home at the time, Mr. Phelan said, but his wife and four children were.
Separately, a 44-year-old man from Orange County in Mr. Phelan’s district was arrested after making threats against Mr. Phelan on Facebook . “He talked about what rifle he was going to use and how he was going to do it — I think he said my right temple,” Mr. Phelan said.
A recent poll from the Texas Politics Project, a program at the University of Texas, showed Mr. Phelan’s statewide approval had risen slightly from December, but remained below 30 percent .
“Phelan has been in there a while, maybe it’s time for some new blood,” Pat Jinks, a resident of Vidor, said after voting for Mr. Covey at the early voting center there. Her husband, Brett, said he voted for Mr. Phelan.
Another voter, Tony Wilcoxson, the mayor of the nearby town of Rose City, emerged and shook hands with Mr. Phelan. He said he had voted for the speaker because of the aid Mr. Phelan had secured for the area after Hurricane Harvey. “I’m as conservative Republican as they come, anti-abortion, pro-gun, all that good stuff, but at the end of the day you’ve got to take care of people,” he said.
Turnout for early voting in the primary elections in Texas has been light in most places, and Republican voters who came to cast ballots in Vidor appeared torn and eager to put the contest behind them.
“I wasn’t unsatisfied” with Mr. Phelan, said Randy Jarrell, who nonetheless said he voted for Mr. Covey. He said the Trump endorsement had an impact on him and his wife, who also backed the challenger. Both were tired of the fliers in their mailboxes and the barrage of attack ads on television.
“I’ll be glad when it’s over,” he said.
