With roughly 2350 hours on her original Detroit diesel 671TIB’s, Summer Games has averaged roughly 100 hours per year on her hull and machinery. electrical power is supplied via an 11kw Westerbeke genset while away from the dock.

Summer Games is a nearly original example except for recent upgrades with the addition of Garmin electronics. This is a very nice example of a classic from Ocean Yachts.

Classic 48 Ocean Super Sport

Summer Games is a very nice two-stateroom example of the Ocean 48 SS. Here is an excerpt from  Power and Motor Yacht  on the series;

After taking a close look at an Ocean 48 Super Sport, it’s easy to understand why more than 400 were built.

Jack Leek founded Ocean Yachts in 1977. Since then, three generations of Leeks have assembled yachts in the company’s South Jersey plant. The 48 Super Sport is high on the leader board of the success stories produced over three-plus decades. The longevity of her appeal is derived from her one-two punch of sleek looks—both inside and out—and sound performance.

From 1986 through 2003 the 48SS had one makeover and one major redesign. Combined, more than 400 hulls were produced. By numbers alone she makes a presence on the used market, but her popularity goes much deeper than simply volume.

“The original 48 was an adaptation of the popular 46 Super Sport,” says John Leek IV, Ocean’s General Manager. “We learned a lot from those owners. The 46SS offered a two- and three-stateroom layout, and the 48 improved upon that with greater interior volume and a more contemporary style.” 

“When the 48SS was introduced, Ocean was ahead of its time as far as amenities,” continues Leek. “The 48-footer had a custom-boat look and the teak added to the appeal for the hardcore fisherman. The families, spouses in particular, approved of the interior.” 

In 1991 the Super Sport got a makeover adding a more refined look to the house,  newly designed windows, and a half tower. It continued to be powered by 485-horsepower GM 6-71 diesels. Performance with this package produced a mid-20-knot cruise with a 30-knot top end.

General Description

Vessel Walkthrough

This is a classic Ocean flybridge design with the preferred 3 stateroom layout, mid-level up galley, tournament bridge hardtop and is ready to go for the serious angler. The interior of this boat including beautiful trim work and soft furnishings are all in excellent condition and is climate controlled by the dual zone air condition and heat!

Starting forward is the anchor locker and then the forward master stateroom with large island double/queen berth, all NEW color LED lighting, en-suite private head/stall shower with all NEW flooring, NEW quartz counter tops, NEW faucets, hanging lockers and ample storage. Just aft to port, is the shared guest head/stall shower with companionway and stateroom access (port guest stateroom only), followed by the port guest stateroom. This stateroom has twin lower berths and ample storage with hanging locker and drawers. Across is the starboard stateroom with an upper athwart ship berth and lower berth that is long enough to sleep 6’+ individuals, hanging locker and storage. Up the companionway stairs leads to the galley and salon. The galley is U-shaped and located on the starboard side and features a large granite countertop that doubles as a breakfast bar with bar stools, dual SubZero refrigerator and freezer with stainless-steel drawers between them. New three-burner Force 10 stove top/oven. Then you look up and see this amazing NEW stretched PCV ceiling that illuminates different colors depending on its surroundings--IT’S A SHOW STOPPER!

Moving aft and starboard, at the exit to the cockpit you will find the main engine room access hatch in the cabin sole. Moving out of the salon and into the cockpit which features all NEWER LIGHT GREY SEADECK decks that are in excellent condition, an almost full beam, a below deck fish box and large double well bait tank. The cockpit also features a full bait prep station with bait freezer, and sink to port and a large tuna door on the transom. The flybridge has a fiberglass hardtop, three helm chairs, complete array of electronics (GPS, Radar, Autopilot, VHF), additional bench seating forward and to starboard.
