First impressions

The appointed Clifford Denn to draw the exterior profile of his unique Heesen – a perfect example of a vessel that exudes the strong individuality of her owner while keeping the family feeling that characterises all yachts delivered by Heesen. Clifford Denn interpreted the client’s brief for a yacht with a powerful and aggressive personality, incorporating complex and extremely refined design elements into the exterior lines that have been beautifully and perfectly crafted by Heesen in house expert aluminium welders.

Step aboard

The interior design by Reymond Langton is characterised by rich Macassar ebony, accented with stainless steel features to exude a luxurious, refined atmosphere with bespoke fabrics by Fay Brixton, semi-precious stones, intricate inlays and warming touches of backlit white onyx and soft tactile leather. A striking first impression for those stepping on board is created by the bespoke Art Deco-style chandelier extending over two decks that is framed by the open-tread stairs.

Heesen ’s Ann G had one of the most rigorous sea trials of any custom superyacht in recent memory. The 164-foot, steel-hulled yacht proceeded from Heesen’s yard in the Netherlands into the North Sea for her tests and then made her way north for a shakedown cruise in the fjords of Norway.

Following the owner’s brief, the Clifford Denn–designed exterior has a powerful, aggressive profile with a long forefoot and white, curved aluminum superstructure that looks more like a sport yacht than a full-displacement superyacht. Powered by twin MTU M63 diesels, Ann G has a top speed of 15.6 knots, 0.6 knots higher than its contractual speed.

English firm Reymond Langton designed Ann G ’s interior. The brief from the owner was to create as big a statement as the yacht’s exterior. Stepping aboard, the first thing one sees is a large art deco–inspired chandelier framed by open-tread stairs. The London-based firm used strong-grained Macassar ebony paneling accented with stainless steel, along with touches of backlit white onyx and leather, to unite the interior. The main saloon has a seating area next to the bar, with an elegant dining area just forward. The large dining table—also crafted from Macassar ebony—features an inlaid panel. Original artwork by Based Upon is positioned on the forward bulkhead.

The art deco theme carries below through the four guest cabins, which are also decorated with Macassar, stainless steel, and leather, and feature unique color palettes to distinguish each stateroom. The owner’s suite displays an abundance of original art, particularly in the bedroom where the walls are decorated with fabric artworks and an intricate deco motif is inlaid into the foot of the bed. The full-beam suite, located forward on the main deck, also has an office, his and her dressing rooms, and a large bathroom with geometric stone artwork on the floors.

The skylounge on the bridge deck has a more informal atmosphere than the main saloon, with large windows on three sides that offer exceptional views of the sea. It features parchment wall panels and large, opulent fabrics instead of the ebony found on the deck below. By contrast, the transom beach club is more contemporary, with a less-stylized look. It is designed for working out or relaxing in the steam room, bar, and external seating area. The subdued elm paneling and teak flooring give the area a warm atmosphere. The sky deck is the ideal place to enjoy the elements, with open spaces both fore and aft, and a walkthrough enclosure overhead in the center to provide shade without stifling the fresh ocean breezes. Heesen Yachts is proud to announce that on July 17, 2015, project YN 17350, M/Y Ann G , a 50m full-custom motoryacht, was delivered to her owners in international waters.

M/Y Ann G has been intensively tested in the North Sea on July 1-2 in smooth sea conditions with fresh breeze predominantly blowing from south east.

Ann G, whose full-displacement steel hull was created by Heesen in house team of naval architects and engineers, exceeded the contractual speed by 0.6 knots, reaching a top speed of 15.6 knots.

Arcon Yachts, who project managed the construction of this unique vessel, comments: “Ann G’s owner is a client with strong vision and high expectations. We are very pleased with the result as Ann G is the quintessence of customisation and superb attention to detail; she is a muscular yet sleek motoryacht that will make heads turn wherever she goes!”

Award-winning designers Raymond Langton and team created the bold interiors of Ann G. The interior design is characterised by rich Macassar ebony, accented with stainless steel features to exude a luxurious, refined atmosphere with warming touches of backlit white onyx and soft tactile leather. A striking first impression for those stepping on board is created by the bespoke Art Deco style chandelier extending over two decks that is framed by the open-tread stairs. The main salon is a perfect area for entertaining guests with an intimate seating area adjoining the bar of Macassar and backlit onyx. The room also includes an elegant dining area with an extending Macassar dining table featuring an inlaid art panel and a feature artwork by Based Upon on the forward bulkhead. The guest accommodation continues the contemporary Art Deco theme, with Macassar, stainless steel, leather and parchment, and a unique palette of artworks and fabrics distinguishing each of the four guest cabins. The owner's suite, located forward on the main deck, features a private office, large full-beam bedroom and bathroom flanked by his and hers changing rooms. The bedroom is accented with artistic touches such as fabric artwork, and intricate deco motif inlaid into the foot of the bed, and geometric stone mosaic artwork in the bathroom. On the bridge deck, the sky lounge is a more informal, intimate atmosphere with the Macassar architecture of the room contrasted by parchment wall panels and opulent fabrics, framed with windows on three sides filling the room with natural light and offering panoramic views of the seascapes beyond. The lower deck beach club is the most contemporary in style – a multi-purpose space dedicated to relaxation, with space for gym equipment, steam room, bar and seating area. The main woods in this area are elm panelling and teak flooring to create a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

Video: Heesen's new custom 50m yacht Ann G spotted on sea trials

The new Heesen  superyacht Ann G has been spotted out on her sea trials. Heesen Yachts launched its full-custom 50 metre yacht, now named Ann G , on June 3. Boat International was one of the first to climb aboard the stunning blue-hulled Ann G during an exclusive unveiling.

The video below shows superyacht Ann G returning from her sea trials. The yacht’s deep blue hull gleams in the sunlight on the bright day, and numerous water bound onlookers – in a dinghies, personal watercraft and day boats – slow down to circle the stunning yacht and get a closer look at her distinctive exterior lines. At the end of the video, Ann G pulls up to dock alongside another recent Heesen launch Azamanta , which is the first of her kind .

The steel-hull, full-displacement yacht Ann G comes in just under the 499GT mark. The owner chose yacht designer  Clifford Denn to pen the sweeping exterior lines and general arrangement of Ann G , while Reymond Langton created the modern meets Art Deco interior.

According to Clifford Denn, the experienced owner wanted an exterior with sculptured shapes and was very hands-on in the build.

"Modern deco" is how Jason Macaree of Reymond Langton describes the interior decor on Ann G . "It's an interpretation of Art Deco," says the designer. There are no antiques found on board, however.

The owner of Ann G had a brief for staircases that are as high quality of that of a larger yacht. This translates to wide staircases with comfortable steps that aren't as steep as you'd find on a yacht of similar size, both at the main and exterior staircases.

Coming on board Ann G , a crystal and stainless sculpture central feature catches the eye. Resembling the shape of an iconic Art Deco era building, it stretches from the lower deck all the way up.

Other commanding features on Ann G include a three-tier crystal chandelier over the dining room table, a glass artwork wall by DKT on the Lowe deck, and custom fabric headboards - all complemented by lush walnut and Makassar ebony.

The bathrooms have beautiful titles, with one guest bathroom alone boasting a mosaic wall with more than 20,000 tiles.

The owner's first yacht with Heesen, Ann G will be delivered to her owners mid July.

Heesen Yachts announced today that project YN 17350, Ann G , has been delivered to her owners in international waters.

Since her launch in May earlier this year , Ann G has been undergoing sea trials in the North Sea. The 50 metre vessel exceeded the contractual speed by 0.6 knots, reaching a top speed of 15.6 knots.

The new 50-meter displacement motor yacht Heesen is launched

New full-custom yacht Ann G, built on the Dutch shipyard Heesen, was launched in May 2015. Construction management and all finishing works for this displacement 50-meter yacht were carried out by the brokerage company Arcon Yachts. One of the most anticipated and beautiful projects of the year 2015 — a new yacht Heesen — sure enough will become a star of the upcoming seasons in the category of super yachts up to 500GT.

The new Heesen 50m project is a result of more than three years of effective cooperation of the famous Dutch shipyard and brokerage company Arcon Yachts, which carried out all the comprehensive maintenance and management of the project at all stages of design and construction. Ann G is a fully displacement 50 meter yacht with a steel hull with 499 GRT, designed by naval architects Van Oossanen and Heesen engineering team as an individual customized project. Motor yacht Heesen 50 m is powered by two MTU 8V 4000 M63 diesel engines, so the new vessel will be able to reach a maximum speed of 15 knots and make an autonomous navigation range of 4,000 nautical miles at a speed of 12 knots.

The exterior design of the new Heesen project №17350 Ann G created by Clifford Denn is absolutely unique because of almost complete customization and thoughtful attention of the Owner and designers to the smallest details: starting from the shape of the mast and the soft contours of the hull, and ending up with a special form of handrails. The general style of the yacht Ann G is both classical and classy, elegant and brutal.

There are 5 guest cabins on board of the yacht Ann G: 4 cabins on the lower deck are for guests, and then upper on the main deck there is the Owner's suite. One of the most distinctive features of Heesen 50 m project is a very large beach club with a bar, a hammam and fitness equipment in the stern of the vessel, as well as non-standard storage location for tender and water toys in the garage and in the forward part of the main deck. The hull of the new 50 meter yacht project is painted in customized Dark Night Blue color, designed specifically for this yacht.

I realize that Moscow is on the Volga River, which connects to the Caspian Sea, but I’m wondering how foreign vessels can reach it? Or do foreign travel companies just buy a yacht that’s already "in the system"?

From the Caspian Sea, Gary, yachts come up the Volga then on to the Oka River and enter a tributary call the Moskva ("Moscow" in Russian) River. Alternate route is Volga to man-made Moscow Canal (which connects Volga to Moskva River). The big superyachts can’t get into the city limits because the river is only 3 inches deep. Just outside of the city, however, the water is 6 meters deep, perfect for large yachts. Yacht passengers easily travel into the city by limousine. (I imagine thoughts of hovercrafts, etc are a consideration for someday…) James Bond, anyone?

Sunrise Yachts, a luxury yacht building company which is based in Turkey, has been made a main sponsor of next year’s 2011 Moscow International Boat Show (MIBS). The four-day Russian yacht show event is currently scheduled to run from April 14-17 at the Moscow’s Crocus exhibition centre.

MIBS is organised by the ITE Group and it is one of Russia’s leading boat shows and is an internationally recognised superyacht event. The show covering everything from small parts and accessories to large superyacht with over 9,000 people and 178 exhibitors attended the last year show.

The Paolo Scanu-designed Sunrise 45 yacht is an ocean-going cruising yacht that was released in 2009 to much acclaim at this was the group’s first-ever model.

Sunrise Yachts was founded in 2007 by the German entrepreneur Herbert P Baum along with the French-British yacht builder Guillaume Roché. The luxury yacht group is based in Antalya, Turkey and utilises a 10,000sq m shipyard facility. Sunrise has two sheds measuring 100m (328ft) x 16m (53ft), as well as a 70m (230ft) x 16m (53ft) fully acclimatized paint shed that can accommodate new-build and refit projects up to 65m (213ft) in length and 1,200 tonnes displacement.

Along each side of the yacht-building facility, space is available for long-term sub-contractors with the latest equipment and logistics capabilities, along with air-conditioned storage, ventilation and extraction plants. The shipyard is organized as an “assembler,” based loosely on the car industry’s model, with a small, yet powerful project management team charged with running all the in-house long-term sub-contractors.
