Italian-made luxury yacht BARENTS (ex SOTAVENTO, LUMIERE, CUOR DI LEONE and LIONHEART) was the vessel which kick-started the hit Bravo TV show ‘Below Deck’ back in 2013 as motor yacht HONOR, and seven years on her professional crew and gorgeous living spaces have kept her stellar reputation secure.

Motor yacht BARENTS known as Honor in the Below Deck series

She received an extensive refit in 2018 to refresh her interior and exterior appearance, and her status as an Approved RYA Water Sports Centre makes her all the more appealing to groups that love water sports. Read on to find out what made this yacht so desirable on the charter market even before she had her own series.

The Interiors

The highly acclaimed designer Stefano Natucci produced her neo-classical interiors, combining pale oak burl, honey onyx and matching marble along with Greek design elements that can be clearly seen in the wet bar detailing and foyer bannisters. The result is an uplifting and memorable environment for holidays, celebrations, and family and friends get-togethers with that added touch of sophistication.

Saloon and dining area

Saloon and dining area

The main salon is the hub for fine dining indoors, seating the whole group around a large glass-topped table for multi-course meals coupled with a wide selection of refreshments from the bar, which is ideally positioned aft to serve guests indoors and out. The main salon provides plenty of seating for receiving visitors while dockside, and for guests on the go there is easy access to the lower deck swim platform and the tender to jet off to the next big party.

The sky lounge features a 65″ widescreen TV perfect for film nights and makes a great second choice that lets the group split up for private conversations. There is a more laid-back ambience when compared with the main salon, and it has its own wet bar for convenience.

The Exteriors

When it comes to outdoor space M/Y BARENTS has numerous options: Begin each day with breakfast alfresco on the main deck aft, or tumble into the comfortable sofa for lunch after spending all your energy on the water toys.

For elegant meals surrounded by the grandeur of nature, there’s no surpassing the upper deck aft, which has seating along the stern to take in the scenery and watch the sunset. The Portuguese deck offers a more intimate environment on the curved sofa, while still granting panoramic views of the location.

Guests can spend the whole day outdoors on the sundeck, which has a sun-exposed aft lounge filled with sun loungers and armchairs, a shaded alfresco dining area and bar, a raised Jacuzzi forward and an elevated platform for sunbathing in peace and quiet.

The Accommodation

However and wherever guests choose to spend their days, the six en-suite cabins to sleep up to 12 guests are designed with the utmost comfort in mind: The warm and inviting colour scheme is enhanced with ample lighting and mirrors to further amplify the illumination, and the plush beds are fitted with the best quality quilts and covers. Every cabin has TV entertainment for winding down with a film before bedtime or a lazy morning recovering from a spectacular celebration.

Luxurious accommodation

Luxurious accommodation

These cabins consist of a Master suite, a VIP stateroom, two double cabins and two twin cabins that both have a Pullman berth, and the ability to convert into doubles.

The Master suite has the additional benefits of a private office and a massive en-suite bathroom with his-and-hers entrances accessed through wardrobes. Within, the highlight is the central spa tub, however, there is also a shower for when the occupants require efficiency overindulgence.

The VIP stateroom on the upper deck has elevated views and quick access to the sky lounge, and much like the Master Suite, it has greater privacy away from the majority of the accommodation on the lower deck.

The rest of the guest cabins are all generous in their proportions and their adaptability ensures that extended families and friends groups have options to suit their needs.

The Water Toys

As an Approved RYA Water Sports Centre, guests can earn a jet ski licence during their time onboard. There is also a wide selection of towable toys to appeal to adrenaline seekers and for group activities, and fishing gear to relax and savour the sunshine with the opportunity to catch a mouth-watering meal.

Below Deck Yachts

Yacht with Below Deck logo

If you’ve never seen the show, it follows the crew of a luxury yacht during peak “charter season.” The original Below Deck, for example, showed off the glitz and glamour of the Caribbean, especially around St. Thomas, the British Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas. The Mediterranean spin-off, on the other hand, highlights European hotspots, including Italy, Spain and Croatia.

The show is undeniably a ton of fun. From the drama in the crew quarters, to the incredible beaches, the show provides an entertaining look behind the curtain.

Yet, the chartered superyachts are the real stars of the show. Each season, Below Deck features a truly stunning super yacht. All of them measure over 150 feet and are decked out in opulent features, staterooms and amenities. And here’s something you might not know: The majority of the Below Deck yachts are available for charter!

Below Deck Charter Yachts

Through five seasons, Below Deck has featured some of the most magnificent super yachts in the world. Some of the yachts have changed ownership since the show, been renamed, or have undergone a refitting. Yet, most look like they did from the show.

But beyond the name and maybe a few changes to the interior, there aren’t many differences. All of the water toys, Jacuzzis and stunning outdoor dining areas are what you’ll find on the yachts available for charter! So which charter yachts are available?

Here’s a more detailed look at the yachts featured on the original Below Deck:

Honor – Season 1

Lumiere yacht

Honor (which is now LUMIERE) kicked off the first season, and she put on a dazzling display. The yacht, originally built by Benetti in 1999, is one of the largest yachts ever featured on the show, and it was actually booked for a five-week charter for filming.

HONOR benefited from the new-found fame of the show. She sold after it aired for nearly $15 million, and the new owners completely refit her interiors and renamed the boat. Today, LUMIERE is a masterpiece of nautical engineering.

She features luxurious accommodations for up to 12 guests and an abundance of deck space, including a sprawling sun deck. The yacht also features a wide array of water toys (the slide was a struggle for the crew all season!).

Ohana – Season 2

Yacht Rhino

Season 2 took the crew on a tour of the British Virgin Islands and featured some familiar faces. Captain Lee, Chef Ben, and Bosun Eddie were back, much to the pleasure of fans. Yet, the yacht was completely different.

OHANA (real name is RHINO) was featured on the second season, a stunning 154-footer, with beautiful decks, a horseshoe outdoor bar, and a stunning outdoor sun deck. After the show aired in 2014, Ohana underwent an extensive retrofit.

She now features an updated interior with a decidedly modern, airy vibe, as well as new hardware, including a state-of-the-art stabilization system.

Eros – Season 3

Yacht Mustang Sally

EROS took centerstage in Season 3, and the 161-foot yacht, originally built for the founder of Tim Hortons, was one of the most luxurious featured on the show. The beautiful tri-deck, featured a stately saloon, a sky lounge Jacuzzi, and sleek exterior styling.

EROS – which was sold prior to the third season – has since been renamed and was also remodeled. She’s now known as Mustang Sally, and unfortunately, this is one of the few Below Deck charter yachts that’s not available for charter.

Valor – Seasons 4 & 5

below deck yacht honor

The stately VALOR was a fan favorite in Season 4 and 5. Built in 1990 by Dutch-based Feadship, the 154-foot VALOR featured a sprawling aft deck, perfect for sunset dinners and afternoon lounges. Plus, the ship – when featured on the show – had a range of water toys, including dual jet skis and a sleek, boutique hotel-inspired interior.

Like Mustang Sally, VALOR – which is now known as simply BG – isn’t available for charter. Yet, fans will always remember all the drama that took place on board.

Below Deck Mediterranean Yachts

Below Deck Mediterranean premiered in 2016, and through three seasons, the show has featured some of the Med’s best yachts. All of the yachts from the Mediterranean spin-off are available for charter, exactly how you see them on the show.

Ionian Princess – Season 1

Yacht Ionian Princess

Season 1 of Below Deck Mediterranean launched with a bang, featuring one of the strongest premieres for the franchise. Although there was plenty of drama throughout the season as the crew traveled around Greece, the beauty of IONIAN PRINCESS couldn’t be missed. The ship, which was originally built in the U.S. in 2005, featured a sleek, streamlined tri-deck design and gorgeous interiors.

The sun deck – where guests partied all season long – is one of the yacht’s star attractions, featuring a Jacuzzi with world-class views. Her interior, though, is one of the most stunning, featuring a chic design. The yacht also includes six cabins with accommodations for up to 12 guests.

Sirocco – Season 2

Sirocco yacht

Season 2 took the crew to Croatia, aboard SIROCCO. The Dutch-built yacht originally launched in 2006, and thanks to its unique two-tone, third-deck exterior, she was remembered for her striking exterior. All of the yacht’s features made great TV. From her incredible sun deck, to the African chic interior, and all of the many water toys, SIROCCO’s impressive design and amenities stood out.

Today, she’s available for charter throughout the Mediterranean. A few unique features include a sun deck gym, an alfresco party deck, a theatre, and a wide array of water toys.

Talisman Maiton – Season 3

Talisman

Named for an island in Thailand, TAILSMAN MAITON is a stunning tri-deck that cruises the pristine waters of Italy and all of the Mediterranean. The largest to ever be featured on the show, TAILSMAN is truly incredible.

The yacht accommodates 12 guests, in 6 beautifully appointed rooms. There’s a master suite, as well as 1 VIP stateroom, and four smaller cabins. The yacht was built in 2006, but most recently refit in 2016 with a timeless Art Deco aesthetic. The yacht also features a sundeck spa pool with a beautiful bar, a full-service gym, and an observation deck with panoramic views.

How Long Are the Below Deck Charters?

Here’s a little-known secret about Below Deck: The “charter season” on the show is just a few weeks. In fact, the yachts are actually booked for about six weeks, and their regular crews are sent home. In other words, the charters on Below Deck are actually a charter within a charter!

Each of the Below Deck charters last just a few days, and each episode features new charter guests.

Below Deck Yacht Rental Costs

Hiring a yacht from Below Deck isn’t cheap. The majority cost in the neighborhood of $150,000 per week. Yet, that charter rate doesn’t include expenses, including fuel, dockage fees, and taxes.

Yet, for that price, you’ll get a truly world-class experience. The crews of each of these yachts provide first-class service and all of the boats are fully loaded with amenities. There’s nothing quite like it in the world. And by hiring one of these superyachts, you’ll also have bragging rights for chartering a yacht featured on a TV show!

In the fourth spin off of Below Deck, the now infamous decided to spice things up a little. Instead of the usual Mediterranean or Caribbean routine, Below Deck went to the less explored (but extremely breathtaking) Norway.

keri lee III below deck down under season 1

The 181ft (55m) yacht was built by the American shipyard Trinity Yachts and features amenities such as a gym, a jacuzzi and 6 magnificent cabins. The perfect vessel to sail in style the waters of Northeastern Australia.

Keri Lee has a weekly charter rate that starts at AUD310,000 .

Northern Sun: the yacht in Below Deck Down Under Season 2

northern sun below deck down under season 2

Below Deck Down Under season 2 explored the coasts around Cairns, the gateway to access the great barrier reef and the Whitsunday Islands.

And it’s hard to imagine a better yacht than the Northern Sun motoryacht to explore this iconic area. The Northern Sun is a 50.8m (now yacht) that used to be a vessel dedicated for ice exploration. The refit work took two years but was clearly worth it when we look at the result displayed in this second season of the Australian Spin off.

Although the Northern Sun is built by the Japanese Narasaki shipyard, it surely is a boat that fits Australian waters quite well and could delight anyone looking to explore the most rugged locations in style, whether they are polar or tropical.

Northern Sun is available for charter from $161,700 / week . Her latest asking price was $15,000,000 .

Here are a few key factors that can influence the cost of a Below Deck charter:

Yacht size and features : Larger yachts with more amenities typically command higher prices. For example, the Sirocco from Below Deck Mediterranean is valued at over $18.5 million.

Season : High season (usually during the summer months) is generally more expensive than low season, as there's more demand for yacht charters during this time.

Duration : Charter prices are typically provided as a weekly rate, so the longer you plan to spend on the yacht, the higher the cost will be.

Destination : Popular cruising grounds like the Mediterranean can be pricier due to increased demand.

Crew size and experience : A larger, more experienced crew may require higher wages, which could affect the overall cost.

While the base cost of chartering a yacht on Below Deck might seem like the biggest expense, there are additional expenses that come with chartering a yacht. This section will break down a few key additional costs, including crew gratuity, provisioning costs, fuel, and dockage fees.

Crew gratuity is around 15–20% of the charter cost

The hard-working crew on Below Deck is an essential part of your luxury yacht experience. As a token of appreciation for their service, it's customary to provide a gratuity at the end of your charter. Crew gratuities are usually around 15–20% of the charter cost. Be sure to factor this into your budget when planning your yacht vacation.

Provisioning costs are around 20–30% of the charter cost

Provisioning covers the cost of food, drinks, other supplies and amenities such as toiletries, cleaning products, and water sports equipment, and any special items or activities you may request. Yacht charters on Below Deck often include world-class cuisine and personalized menus for guests, prepared by skilled chefs. Some charters offer an "all-inclusive" rate, while others have an advanced provisioning allowance (APA), which covers these costs, usually around 20–30% of the charter cost.

Be aware of fuel and dockage fees

Depending on your itinerary and how much time you spend cruising versus docking, these fees can vary. Fuel costs can significantly increase the overall cost of your charter, especially for larger vessels with more powerful engines. As a general rule, guests should expect to pay anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 or more in fuel fees for a one-week charter.

Dockage fees depend on the marina, location, and length of your yacht, and they are usually charged per night. As a general rule, guests should expect to pay anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000 or more in dockage fees for a one-week charter. When planning your Below Deck yacht charter, work closely with your yacht broker or charter company to estimate these costs based on your desired itinerary.

Booking a Below Deck yacht charter can be a complex process, but with the help of a yacht charter broker, it can be made easier. It can take several months, especially during peak season, so it's recommended to start the process at least six months in advance to ensure that you can secure your preferred yacht and itinerary. Here are the steps to book a Below Deck yacht charter:

Choose your yacht - Research the different Below Deck yachts and choose the one that best suits your needs and preferences.

Determine your itinerary - Discuss your preferred sailing location and itinerary with your yacht charter broker. They can help you plan the perfect itinerary based on your preferences. Some yachts featured on Below Deck have cruised through the Caribbean or the British Virgin Islands, so consider the ambiance you're looking for on your charter.

Decide on your dates - Determine the dates that you would like to charter the yacht. Keep in mind that peak season (June to September) typically has higher charter rates than off-peak season (October to May).

Discuss your budget - Work with your yacht charter broker to determine your budget for the charter. They can help you find a yacht and itinerary that fits within your budget.

Sign the contract - Once you have chosen your yacht, itinerary, and dates, your yacht charter broker will provide you with a contract to sign. This contract will outline the terms and conditions of the charter, including the price, payment schedule, and cancellation policy.

Make the initial payment - Once you have signed the contract, you will need to make an initial payment to secure the yacht for your chosen dates.

Finalize the details - Work with your yacht charter broker to finalize the details of your charter, including the crew, menu, and any additional activities or amenities.

Enjoy your charter - Once all the details are finalized, it's time to enjoy your Below Deck yacht charter. The crew will take care of all your needs and ensure that you have an unforgettable experience.

Here's a friendly guide to help you navigate the cancellation policies to avoid any unwanted surprises or losses on your investment.

As a general rule, most yacht charter companies adhere to industry-standard cancellation policies, which are designed to safeguard both you and the yacht owner. However, each yacht may have specific terms and conditions based on the owner's preference. It's always best to inquire about these details before signing a charter agreement.

Typically, if you cancel your trip within a certain time frame, you will receive a partial or full refund of your deposit. For example, if you cancel more than six months before your scheduled departure date, you might be eligible for a full refund. On the other hand, if you cancel within a shorter time frame, you may be subject to a penalty or forfeit your deposit entirely.

The specific terms and conditions of cancellation policies when chartering a Below Deck yacht can vary depending on the yacht and the charter company. However, here are some general guidelines for cancellation policies:

If the charter is cancelled by the charterer (the person or group booking the yacht), the following cancellation fees may apply:

  • If the cancellation is made more than 90 days before the charter start date, the charterer may forfeit the initial deposit.
  • If the cancellation is made between 90 and 60 days before the charter start date, the charterer may be required to pay 25-50% of the total charter fee.
  • If the cancellation is made between 60 and 30 days before the charter start date, the charterer may be required to pay 50-75% of the total charter fee.
  • If the cancellation is made less than 30 days before the charter start date, the charterer may be required to pay the full charter fee.

If the charter is cancelled by the charter company (due to technical problems with the yacht, for example), the charterer will typically receive a full refund of any payments made.

Some yacht owners require the payment of a cancellation fee, which can either be a fixed amount or a percentage of the total charter cost. Make sure to inquire about these details before booking your dream Below Deck experience.

Lastly, consider purchasing travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances, such as illness or travel restrictions, that might lead to a trip cancellation. This way, you'll have peace of mind knowing that you're covered should the unexpected happen.

Bravo’s Below Deck Captains Pay Tribute to Captain Lee Rosbach

By Justin Smith

Over the years, the Below Deck franchise has become one of Bravo’s biggest hits. Season 1 premiered on July 1, 2013, with Captain Lee Rosbach at the helm. Over ten years later, there are no signs of the franchise slowing down. Below Deck Mediterranean wrapped up its eighth season earlier this year. Below Deck Sailing Yacht is expected to return with its fifth season later this year. Bravo has guaranteed that there’s a year-round supply of deep-sea drama.

While the yachties on Below Deck come and go, the captains are the glue that holds the franchises together. From Captain Glenn Shephard on Below Deck Sailing Yacht to Captain Jason Chambers on Below Deck Down Under , they all bring a unique leadership style to the show. Bravo recently assembled all of them for a conversation to reflect on the show’s legacy and how Captain Lee laid the foundation for their reality TV success.

The OG of the 7 Seas

One thing all of the captains have in common is that they all stumbled into the yachting career. For Captain Sandy Yawn , her first job on a boat coincided with her sobriety journey . It gave her a way to make money when she was practically unemployable. Captain Lee said he suddenly wound up in the boating industry because he needed cash. He saw a job posting to work on a boat that required no experience. The rest is history.

Regardless of how they got into yachting, all the captains spoke about the industry with incredible passion. They all expressed how thankful they were that the Below Deck franchise has put more eyes on the industry. Captain Jason said the visibility the show created has added more diversity to the industry.

Ultimately, all of the captains agreed that if it weren’t for Captain Lee blazing the trail, the Below Deck franchise would have never blossomed into what it is today. He’s basically like the Vicki Gunvalson of Below Deck. He’s the OG.

In a touching moment, Captain Kerry Titheradge told Lee how he was “honored” to be a part of the Below Deck franchise. He said that if it weren’t for Lee, none of them would have their Bravo careers. That rings especially true for Kerry, who has become Lee’s full-time replacement.

“None of us would be here if you didn’t make the show successful, if you didn’t work with the production crew, if you didn’t find ways to make things work,” Kerry noted.

He continued, “Just to see what it’s grown to, it’s gone from a show that everyone was dogging, and from that it’s grown to a very popular show, and then, from that platform, different people are able to help other people in their lives.”

Of course, Captain Lee is a class act and didn’t want to take too much credit. He noted that it’s been the “collective efforts” from all of the captains to helped make the show, and its impact, so impressive. He told the other captains that now, it’s up to them to continue championing the show into its next era.

Lee said, “Now it’s up to you to carry it on. Never quit. Never give up. You give your word, you fulfill it.”

You can stream all of the different iterations of Below Deck on Peacock.

Kerry has 30 years of experience working on boats and has spent almost two decades in yachting. As he steps on to St. David for the first time, Capt. Kerry relies on returning crew members Chief Stew Fraser Olender and Ben Willoughby to help the new staff find their way around the massive 197 ft. vessel.

Motor Yacht OHANA to Appear in ‘Below Deck’ Season 2 Reality Show

By Editorial Team   7 February 2014

Following the ratings success of the first season, Bravo TV’s ‘Below Deck’ season 2 is due to start filming this month and the charter yacht confirmed to appear is OHANA, the 47m/154’ Admiral superyacht. The production company are currently seeking charter guests to take part in the new series.

The first season of the reality show, which followed a working charter crew over the course of five-weeks in the Caribbean, featured the 50m/160’7 Benetti motor yacht ‘Cuor di Leone’ (renamed ‘Honor’ for the purposes of the charter). After filming had finished, ‘Cuor di Leone’ was sold and promptly taken off of the charter market, meaning that the ‘Below Deck’ producers had to find a suitable replacement in time for the Caribbean yacht charter season.

Popular charter yacht OHANA became a prime candidate along with her Captain John. Grugach and producers are now looking for a new crew to fill the rest of the positions on board as well as charter guests willing to be filmed for the duration of their vacation.

The 1998-built OHANA has carved out an exceptional reputation as a charter vessel over the years and is fully equipped for comfortable and exciting cruising vacations. Meticulously maintained since new, she was last refitted in 2011 and boasts a spacious, high-quality interior styled by the award-winning designer Donald Starkey . She accommodates up to 10 guests in five beautiful staterooms and features state-of-the-art audio visual equipment and Kaleidescape systems throughout.

Her outdoor areas are what truly make her stand out with every conceivable facility needed for an unforgettable vacation. This is best seen in her vast sundeck which features a large shaded double bar, Jacuzzi surrounded by sunpads, barbeque and five optional sun shade triangles in addition to a state of the art “pop-top” which rotates and opens to reveal a central, spiral staircase. OHANA’s armada of watertoys includes a 40’ waterslide which attaches to the side of the yacht, great fun for adults and kids alike.

It is still not clear whether the yacht will be called 'Honor' in second season of  Bravo's 'Below Deck' TV show.  If you can't wait until the next season airs then you can get a sneak preview of the interior photos of Ohana or watch her charter video.

If you are interested in booking a charter on board OHANA, either for the ‘Below Deck’ season 2 in the British Virgin Islands or for the summer 2014 season then contact your preferred charter broker .

Screen Rant

Signs ben willoughby won't return to below deck (was he fired).

Ben Willoughby has had a turbulent time on Below Deck season 11. He may not return to the show in the future, but was he fired from the season?

  • Ben Willoughby may not return to Below Deck due to unhappiness with his portrayal on the show.
  • Ben hinted at potential drama and conflict on Below Deck season 11 that may not have been shown.
  • Ben expressed interest in joining another Below Deck spin-off show despite his negative experience.

It’s unlikely that Below Deck season 11 star Ben Willoughby will ever return to the reality show again. He started season 11 as a deckhand but was soon promoted to bosun when Jared Woodin had to leave the boat. Part of the drama on Below Deck season 11 involved his “boatmance” with Mary "Sunny" Marquis. Ben’s love affair with Sunny caused waves when the new stew, Paris Fields, came aboard and turned his head. Sunny called him out on this, and Ben continued to flirt with their other fellow crew member, Xandi Olivier.

Ben has hinted at a possible departure from Below Deck season 11 on his social media pages as he's unhappy with the way he’s being portrayed. While some viewers think Ben is the most annoying Below Deck cast member, he doesn’t think his depiction on the show is true to his real-life experience. Ben made it evident he had a hard time juggling the drama on Below Deck season 11. Now, speculation about whether he’s been fired is at an all-time high, though nothing is certain.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Ben called out the producers edit of him on instagram, he’s not happy he’s being painted as the “villain”.

Ben considered exposing the production’s truth in manipulating his edit on Below Deck season 11 via his Instagram Stories. Reddit user Teanailpolish shared screenshots of Ben’s Instagram Stories, where he answered fan questions about the series. When someone asked if Ben would return to Below Deck again, he simply answered, “ I once used to love below deck. ” Ben’s answers were vague , though he shared he was angry because “ there’s too much that isn’t seen ” on the show. It’s unclear what moments Ben is referring to, but it makes sense that not all moments will end up in the final cut.

“ I’m at a crossroads as to whether the truth needs to be told or I don’t need to let this consume me anymore.”

One user asked if there was an upcoming moment or episode that Ben was “ really anxious ” about the audience seeing. Ben stood firm in his stance and replied, “ Not really. I can’t control the edit. ” He hinted that an explosive event took place, writing that “ the entire production team know[s] the crap I had to deal with this season. ” Ben directly called out production with this answer. It seems like he’s upset that production knows what he allegedly “ had to deal with ” and still chose to paint him as the villain.

Said He Would Never Step On St. David Again

Ben will not be working on this yacht ever again.

Ben said he would never step on St. David again under the same circumstances he was on during Below Deck season 11. His answers on his Instagram Stories were very revealing, and it seemed like he was ready to spill the tea. Another user asked about the highs and lows that Ben had experienced during the season. He responded by saying, “ Low – not enjoying this season due to a number of factors. I never wanted to step foot on St. David again under those circumstances .”

Unfortunately, viewers likely won't see Ben working on the St. David anytime soon. Notably, St. David is 197 feet long, making it the largest boat Below Deck has ever featured. Ben’s experience with yachting would make him a great candidate to work on the St. David in future seasons. However, his experience filming Below Deck season 11 has tainted his view of the ship. He was unable to truly enjoy his time because of outside factors.

Ben Was Dragging The Entire Crew

He thinks we aren’t seeing everyone’s real personalities.

Ben dragged the entire Below Deck season 11 crew into his Instagram tirade. He was open with his thoughts on the rest of the crew members. A user asked, “ Has the show shown how people really are in person? ” Ben replied, “ Some for worse than they are, some for better than they are. ” Ben did not call out anyone in particular from the cast , which leaves his answer up for interpretation. Another question referenced his showmance on Below Deck season 11. They asked if Ben sleeping with a “ subordinate ” resulted in him being portrayed negatively, which he refused.

“Each season has a villain and you don’t get a say in that.”

Ben said that “ being pulled in all different directions ” had more of a “ negative effect ” on his character arc in Below Deck season 11. He critiqued the production once more and pointed out that a lot of “ audio gets cut out, ” inherently leaving out context. Ben had a lot of weight on his shoulders when he stepped into Jared’s role as bosun. He was excited but still nervous about the challenge. Ben had to juggle a lot of responsibilities while also navigating personal relationships on Below Deck season 11.

It Doesn't Seem Like Ben Was Fired

Did ben quit below deck season 11.

While Ben has some serious animosity towards the production of Below Deck season 11, it doesn’t seem like he was fired from his job as bosun. Ben had to step up when he was randomly promoted. Additionally, he had the job of naming his replacement deckhand. He chose his boatmance, Sunny, which may factor into the looming conflict he's hinting at. On his Instagram Stories, Ben said he was disappointed that his reasoning for choosing Sunny never aired. He continued to hint at more conflict to come later in the season, but it’s unclear what the drama is.

“I know what I stood for in these episodes to come.”

Ben may be known for being in the thick of drama on Below Deck , but he does a good job in this role as a Bosun aboard the St. David . He had a lot of expectations and responsibilities in Below Deck season 11. That, combined with his hectic showmance with Sunny and his flirting with other women, has crafted a perfect disaster. Hopefully, this alleged drama to come is nothing too serious, and Ben is doing okay since they wrapped filming. Right now, it doesn’t seem like Ben has done anything that would warrant a firing, but time will tell.

Could Ben Join Another Below Deck Series?

He said he would join a different below deck spin-off show.

Though Ben showed his disdain for Below Deck season 11, he didn’t write off joining another series. Ben revealed he would be open to joining a “ new crew ” to “ start fresh. ” On his Instagram Stories, a user asked if Ben would ever appear on another Below Deck spin-off like Below Deck Sailing Yacht or Below Deck Mediterranean . “ In a heartbeat ,” he wrote, which means he hasn’t cut ties with the entire franchise yet. It will be interesting to see what happens to Ben on Below Deck season 11, especially in the wake of his mini-Instagram rant.

Ben probably won’t return for another season of Below Deck after season 11 wraps. He alleges that production had meddled with his edit and left out crucial pieces of the story. It doesn’t seem like Ben was fired, but he had been hinting at possibly quitting in the weeks to come.

Below Deck season 11 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo, then streams the following day on Peacock.

10 Biggest Clout Chasers In Below Deck History

  • Fan-favorite captains and crew members shine on Below Deck, but clout chasers can overshadow the show.
  • Life on a super-yacht may seem glamorous, but Below Deck sheds light on the grueling side of maritime travel.
  • Casting villains and drama magnets stir the pot on Below Deck, but clout chasers looking for fame can disrupt the season.

Below Deck has introduced a plethora of fan-favorite captains and crew members, but once in a while, a few clout chasers drown out the show. Below Deck is renowned for its iconic format that follows the staff and crew who work on super-yachts. Life on a yacht seems luxurious and worldly, but Below Deck has revealed the grueling side of maritime travel . The popularity of the show has given a slew of spin-offs, while its mainstay, Below Deck season 11 began premiering in February 2024 with a mix of familiar faces.

Reality television has created some iconic stars, but it’s also created thirsty, fame-hungry clout chasers. Below Deck cast members are part of a TV series but they’re also there to do a job. It takes a strong team to manage the workload of crews on these yachts. There have been a multitude of Below Deck franchise cast villains who, like clout chasers, know how to stir up drama onboard. However, when a cast member is more interested in creating memorable TV moments and attracting some sort of fame after their run on the show, things begin to get muddled.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Adrienne gang, below deck season 1.

Adrienne Gang was the first chief stew on Below Deck season 1 . Though she was an original cast member on the series , Adrienne wasn’t asked back as a crew member on the show. She made an appearance during Below Deck season 2 as a friend to the primary charter guest, and her former co-workers were not excited about working for her. Since exiting the series, she’s stayed in the Below Deck zeitgeist by launching her adjacent podcast, Gangplank Report . On the podcast, Adrienne would speak with fellow Below Deck alum and discuss the airing seasons.

Adrienne is very proud of her time on Below Deck . In her Instagram bio, she makes it known that she was on the show by writing, “ OG #chiefstew @bravotv #BelowDeck. ” Adrienne also references her job as a celebrity chef, which she took up after leaving the Bravo series. She also held a viewing party for the premiere of Below Deck season 11. Though Adrienne was only cast as a crew member in one season of the show, it’s clear that she’s ecstatic to call herself an “ OG ” of Below Deck.

Hannah Ferrier

Below deck mediterranean season 1-5.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 5 would have looked different without Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier. Undoubtedly, after Hannah was fired by Captain Sandy Yawn, the season suffered. After filming Below Deck Med , Hannah jumped ship to film The Real Love Boat as the cruise director for the dating series. She was cast on The Traitors Australia season 2, one of the hottest and most anticipated reality TV shows. Though it’s been a few years since she’s been on Below Deck , Hannah has used her history on that show to expand her career as a reality TV star.

It’s safe to say that Hannah has stayed in the spotlight since appearing on Below Deck Med , and her presence isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. She hosts her podcast , Dear Reality, You’re Effed! , which per the podcast’s Instagram bio, “ delv[es] deep into the Bravo/Reality TV/celebrity world. ” On Captain Lee’s podcast, Salty With Captain Lee , Hannah said she would consider returning to Below Deck if Captain Lee or Captain Jason Chambers asked her to.

Colin Macrae

Below deck sailing yacht season 2-4.

Colin Macrae made his first Below Deck appearance on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2. He was a fan favorite for not getting into the drama and doing his job exceptionally well. However, during Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, he was single and found himself in a love triangle with crew members Daisy Kelliher and Gary King. Colin’s personality shifted from Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 to 4, and he was ready to stir up more drama. He’s used his time on Below Deck to promote his YouTube channel, where he posts videos about sailing.

Natalya Scudder

Below deck mediterranean season 7 & 8.

Natalya Scudder was the drama on Below Deck Mediterranean season 8. Natalya and Tumi Mhlongo feuded instantly during the season, and Natalya arguably perpetuated their conflict . She would talk about Tumi to their fellow crew members, which drew more attention to both of them. Her dear friend, Kyle Viljoen, made their fight worse. Kyle got between Natalya and Tumi before they had the chance to meet. However, Natalya continued their conflict by snapping back and getting defensive at Tumi’s requests.

Natalya and Kyle both love attention. They also fought throughout Below Deck Med season 8, and Natalya ended up resigning because of the drama. However, she returned to stir up controversy once more during the finale of the season. Though she had already quit, Natalya had to make her presence on Below Deck Med season 8 known once more. Natalya and Kyle made a perfect duo on the show due to their dramatic natures. They knew how to make great, captivating TV, and they did just that.

Ashton Pienaar

Below deck season 6 & 7.

Ashton Pienaar endured one of the most dangerous accidents on Below Deck season 6 when his foot got caught in a tow line. Ashton was dragged into the water, and a cameraman had to save him. He was invited back for Below Deck season 7 but didn’t make a great impression on the viewers. Ashton drank a lot in his second season and often got angry and violent when doing so. He wasn’t invited back to Below Deck, but he used his time on the show to create and promote his fitness company .

Fraser Olender

Below deck season 8-11.

Fraser Olender is one of the leading personalities on Below Deck season 11. He’s the poster child of the latest season, and he’s been stirring drama on camera. Fraser’s conflicts with Barbie Pascual have overtaken the season , and sometimes the drama feels a little forced. Former The Real Housewife of New York star Jill Zarin slammed Fraser for his lack of leadership skills that made her trip unenjoyable. His drama with Barbie has clouded Below Deck season 11. Having dealt with a conflict in season 10, maybe Fraser knew he could garner more attention towards himself with this feud.

Malia White

Below deck mediterranean season 2, 5 & 6.

Malia White’s time on Below Deck Mediterranean captivated viewers. She was in a relationship with her co-star, Tom Checketts. Their eventual breakup was heartbreaking for many Below Deck fans, but she was also known for her controversial actions on board. Like many reality TV alums, Malia has garnered an impressive following of over 570,000 followers on Instagram. She’s used her audience to promote her Below Deck -related podcast , Total Ship Show , and track her fitness journey.

Ben Willoughby

Below deck season 10 & 11.

Below Deck season 11 star Ben Willoughby was extremely unhappy with his portrayal of the season. Ben considered exposing the truth about Below Deck in a series of Instagram Stories on his page. Reddit user Teanailpolish shared screenshots of his responses to fan questions, where it was clear Ben was unhappy with his edit on the season. “ There’s too much that isn’t seen,” he wrote, adding, “I’m at a crossroads as to whether the truth needs to be told. ” Ben did say he’d join Below Deck Sailing Yacht or Below Deck Med . He might have threatened to expose production to attract clout.

Alex Propson

Below deck sailing yacht season 3.

Alex Propson enjoyed starting the drama on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3. He showed romantic interest in Mad Herrera, but they didn’t end up pursuing a relationship. Alex has done a lot of press to stay in the limelight since appearing on Below Deck Sailing Yacht . On Alex’s Instagram, he promotes the interviews he does in hopes of becoming more popular . He also joined the cast of Winter House season 3, extending his stint on Bravo. Alex seems to be a fan of himself, making him one of the biggest clout chasers to come out of Below Deck .

Kyle Viljoen

Kyle Viljoen joined Below Deck Med season 8 intending to stir up drama. Kyle was friends with both Natalya and Tumi. He got in both the women's ears before they met , and told them negative things about each other. When Natalya and Tumi clashed on the yacht, Kyle continued to spew gossip and heighten tensions between the women. Later in the season, Kyle clashed with Natalya once more, which ended in her leaving the season. Despite this conflict, Kyle and Natalya have since made amends, and he announced this on social media.

Kyle and Natalya knew how much attention the downfall of their friendship would garner and Kyle loved to spotlight this on social media. Ahead of the Below Deck Med season 8 finale, Kyle made another dramatic post on Instagram to commemorate his time on the show. His Instagram caption was extremely long, and Kyle thanked the network, his friends, and his family for their support. He also teased his “ next announcement ,” which felt like a promotional plug for a future project.

There have been quite a few clout chasers to appear on Below Deck . Clout chasers can diminish the value of a season as these people are typically vying for attention in outlandish ways on-camera. Whether they took the opportunity to appear on the show to accumulate followers or promote their businesses, it’s clear they enjoy the attention the Bravo series brings.

Below Deck season 11 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo, then streams the following day on Peacock.

  1. 'Below Deck' on Honor Yacht

The 50m (164') luxury charter yacht 'Honor' is the setting of new Bravo reality series 'Below Deck' that follows the lives of crew and guests on board a five-week charter of the Caribbean. The show has already been subject to some criticism, with many in the industry claiming it does not offer a true insight into luxury yacht chartering.
