History of Feeling

Feeling, a subtle blend of innovation and savoir-faire, began its line of stunning sailing yachts back in 1972 in Les Sables-d'Olonne, France. Initially founded by Jean Lou Viau, the brand's inception marked a change in how sailing yachts were conceptualised, designed, and built, placing elevated focus on comfort, style and seaworthiness. Feeling became a division of the larger Dufour Yachts in the late 1980s following a brief period of economic instability; this marks a key moment in its history as it prompted an evolution in design philosophy, and extended its reach in the global market.

In the late '90s, Feeling evolved further. The brand passed into the hands of Alliaura Marine, famed for their outstanding craftsmanship and quality. This new management reignited Feeling's legacy for innovative design; the brand introduced the concept of lifting keel sailboats which received massive success and solidified its name as a pioneer in the boat manufacturing industry. During this period, Feelings operations shifted to La Rochelle, another historic sailing town in France, marking a new chapter in its illustrious history.

The last decade has seen Feeling take on a re-imagined persona, without letting go of its historic roots. Now, it continues to sustain an impressive portfolio of seaworthy yet comfortable yachts from its base in La Rochelle, France. Today, Feeling stands as a reputable icon in the boat manufacturing industry, backed by its history of innovation, elevated craftsmanship, and excellent sailing capabilities. Launched in 1999 by the Kirie  shipyard in Vendée, the Feeling range is a selection of single-hulled sailing boats or catamarans designed for coastal or mid-shore sailing. The range has 7 different models between 9 and 25 metres in length, such as the Feeling 32 DI (110 of these are available), a small 9.68m sailboat that is ideal for 5 people and still highly sought after on the secondhand market.
