Friend invited me in as a guest. Never realized this was located at the end of City Island because of the restaurants that are there. Really can't tell it's here till you get inside the gate. Dining area is well kept and casual. Staff is also friendly. I was there for Sunday brunch and had to wait till noon before ordering off the lunch menu. Find their overall food prices very reasonable. Heard they also have a different membership if you don't own a boat.

Out of all the years of being here in NY - I can finally say I've been to the BRONX! Wooo hooo - not sure if City Island really counts as the boogie down Bronx, but I am still checking off Bronx from my list. Came here sailing with cutie patootie E and A. This place offers storage spaces for you to put your personal things there for safe keeping. (i.e life jackets, fishing poles, and etc.) As we walked out I could see an endless amount of mussels - DAMN too bad you can't eat them because I would have brought a pot. We got onto the launch and the launch operator took us out to the sail boat. It was a breezy Saturday not so much sun, so I had trouble sitting still without loosing my balance. I never knew New York could be this peaceful or this beautiful. The scenery is amazing and I never imagine the houses in the Bronx looks like the ones back home. Maybe this is why it didn't feel like the Bronx to me. You can fish here, but I didn't really see anyone fishing that day except cruising around in their boats. When the weather is good, you can hang out on the shore or throw private parties here. There's really not much else to review here since there's no food - it's just basically you and your boat. Oh, they have real restrooms here...no port-a-potties!

A few months ago, my fiancé and I were on City Island and decided to stop by Morris Yacht Club, to possibly hold our wedding. We called and were told to come right by. When we arrived, we could not find anyone to speak with or any way to get into the building. We walked around for a while, knocked on doors (which were all locked) we were unable to find anyone to speak to, so we left. This week, we decided to give it a second chance. We called earlier in the week and made an appointment for 1pm on Saturday to meet with Kim. Upon arrival, we were informed that Kim had stepped out but would be back in half an hour. We were invited to explore the place on our own and have a drink, until Kim returned. After 45 minutes, we notified them that we had another appointment and couldn't wait any longer. The only reply we got was a very disinterested "OK." No one asked for our contact information. There was no apology for our inconvenience nor any desire to have us return. Considering the rave reviews I have read and the fact that they were preparing for other events, it seems many people have been given a much better customer service experience than we received. I can only ascertain that the fact that we are a same sex couple had something to do with our treatment.

i spent my entire childhood being dragged kicking & screaming from the boondocks streets of Fort Greene bklyn 80's to this backwater backward backyard of the Bronx every summer weekend. But now looking back i miss the old style of salty-dog types that frequented this place with their sundameged pinacle playing over sized sun glassed wearing wives sitting on the lawn while their sea fare husbands were running the dry dock & downing six packs Bud out of igloos. a little of the old remains here withing the people & the great lawn...but after the fire and new high tech dry dock installation its a shell of its former self.....still 5 stars just not my kind of 5 stars...but that's just me, i miss the old but to be fair its a change that was going to come whether i like it or not.

the morris yacht club in city island

This is the most exceptional place on city island. It was a NYC landmark before it's tragic electrical fire... But the club it self is stronger than even... I grew up here,.. And there were no better memories.

The Morris has changed for the better. With it's brand new club house and travel lift to haul boats, it has gone through a metamorphosis. It hosts a catering hall and restaurant with beautiful views of the long Island sound and Manhattan. Definitely a must see!!

Photo of Evan S.

My girlfriends family joined Morris about 1 year ago to access kayaking a bit easier. I must say, I did have a preconceived notion about the degree to which one had to have their nose tilted in the air to attend a yacht club. However, upon going to Morris fairly consistently on the weekends, I no longer feel this way. We do not have a boat, so I cannot review the amenities regarding that, however it is a great place to have your kayak, and an awesome place to hang out when the weather is nice. I have not had a chance to eat but they have a nice bar/restaurant upstairs and I have ingested some pretty delicious libations. I would give it 5 stars if they had a pool, and if they kept better care of their beach. ( Nothing bad, but it could use a good combing). Will return on a weekly basis.

Your Guide to City Island, the Bronx: What to Eat, Drink and Do

We had a chance to visit this sleepy town in the Bronx on Thanksgiving Day in 2018. Forty-five minutes by subway from Manhattan, City Island is a perfect getaway for New Yorkers to escape the city’s dins and chaos, offering vintage shops, fresh seafood, and an interesting museum. Here is a one-day itinerary with all the fun things you can do on this 253-acre island.

Table of Contents Show

The History of City Island

the morris yacht club in city island

The waterfront views from City Island.

Purchased in 1654 by Thomas Pell, an English-born physician from the Siwanoy band, City Island had a population of about 1000 people, mostly farmers and shipbuilders, as well as livestock. This “New England” town was part of Pelham, Westchester County, and in 1895, it became part of NYC. Boating is a real draw of this 253-acre island, which has three yacht clubs: Harlem Yacht Club, City Island Yacht Club, and Morris Yacht and Beach Club.

At City Island Yacht Club, you’ll find the Columbia University Sailing Team, who comes from Manhattan 4 times a week to practice, while Fordham University’s sailing team sails out of Morris Yacht and Beach Club. This small fishing town’s only connection with the Bronx is via the City Island Bridge (it was City Island Causeway Bridge that was replaced in 2015,) connecting with Pelham Shore Road, Pelham Parkway, and Bruckner Expressway.

How to Get to City Island

Located in the northeastern Bronx of New York, City Island is accessible by public transportation and local highways.

Those who drive and depart from  Manhattan’s East Side  can take the FDR Drive to the Triborough Bridge. Turn onto the Bruckner Expressway, and stay on 95 North until Exit 8B, “City Island.” Take a right after the drawbridge, and take the second turn at the traffic circle. Once you cross the bridge, you’re on City Island. The trip takes about 25 minutes.

If you drive from  Manhattan’s West Side , take the West Side Highway. Turn north on Route 95 (the Cross Bronx Expressway) and stay on the highway until Exit 8B, “City Island.” Take a right after the drawbridge and take the second turn at the traffic circle. Once you cross the bridge, you’re on City Island. The trip takes about 25 minutes.

If you are coming from  New Jersey , take the George Washington Bridge towards Manhattan. Stay on the Cross Bronx Expressway or Route 95 until Exit 8B, “City Island.” Take a right after the drawbridge and take the second turn at the traffic circle. Once you cross the bridge, you’re on City Island. The trip should be right under an hour.

If you don’t drive , there is also public transportation that can get you there comfortably. One option is to take 6 Train north to Pelham Bay Park, which is the last stop. Then, transfer to Route Bx29 towards City Island. The trip should take under 2 hours from Manhattan.

What to Do in City Island

1: rent a boat at jack’s bait & tackle.

If you’re into fishing, rent a 4-person boat ($70 on weekdays and $90 on weekends) at this family-owned fishing gear outpost and test your luck catching some fish on Long Island Sound. Jack’s Bait & Tackle also sells bait, and the staff will happily guide you to the best areas to catch porgies, flounder, bass, and bluefish. For a fancier experience, you can also charter a boat, which is about $400 for a roundtrip. Call them in advance in case they’re out fishing.

Location: 551 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

2: Take a stroll along the short, sleepy street

the morris yacht club in city island

City Island Avenue, along which are quaint, cottage-type abodes, bungalows, and Victorian homes.

This sleepy, east-west street on City Island is only 1.5 miles long, taking you past quaint, cottage-type abodes, bungalows, and Victorian homes. At 21 Tier Street, you’ll also find the summer house from Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums . This house includes a whale weathervane and a wraparound porch overlooking Eastchester Bay and Pelham Bay Park. The same house was in 1962’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night , starring Katharine Hepburn.

3: Get your Own Yacht from Island Current Fleet

If you have a lot of cash lying around (we’re taking thousands), get your own yacht club from Island Current Fleet. They can be the size of your apartment or bigger, ranging from 42 to 76 feet long and equipped with a stereo, a galley, and a radar to find fish, depending on which boat you choose. They can accommodate 6 passengers all the way up to 150. For those looking to spend a day hanging out with friends on the water, this is your best bet.

4: pick up a vintage toy at 239 Play!

the morris yacht club in city island

Alice In Wonderland toy plushes at 239 Play!.

Housed in a building that dates back to the 1860s, this eerie store along City Island Ave is full of vintage toys and gadgets. A glance at it will remind you of the vintage shop in  Toy Story 4 , where Sheriff Woody found his old friend Bo-Peep. You can spend a whole afternoon here, roaming through rare Star Wars figurines, plushes of characters from  Alice in Wonderland , 1960s flower-power pins, record players that play classic tunes, and a trove of windup oddities.

Location: 239 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

5: Go back in time at City Island Nautical Museum

History buffs will love City Island Nautical Museum housed in the old Public School 17 building, where they can peruse maritime artifacts and photos as well as learn about the island’s yacht and shipbuilding history and its role during the American Revolution. You’ll also find the America’s Cup here, the world’s oldest sporting trophy that dates back to 1851. The museum is open every weekend from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Admission is only $2.5 per person.

Location: 190 Fordham St, The Bronx, NY 10464

6: Enjoy a play at the Local theater

If you don’t have the budget for big Broadway tickets, head to the City Island Theater Group for a small-town play that only costs $20! Shows played in the past include  Play On! ,  Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 , and  The Dining Room ! See their current productions and available tickets  here . The theater was founded in 1998, and it gave its first performance, Play On! in April of 1999 at Grace Episcopal Church Hall and has performed there ever since.

7: Take a stroll past Samuel Pell house

Another popular attraction on City Island is Samuel Pell House, a perfect example of the Second Empire-style houses constructed around 1876 that once proliferated in the rural areas of NYC. This three-story building is richly embellished with heavy molded door and window surrounds, bay windows, bracketed cornices, and porches with turned posts and curved wood braces. There are 13 homes of such styles still exist on City Island, but this is the best preserved.

Location: 586 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

What to Eat in City Island

1: city island lobster house (seafood, $$).

Seafood is the island’s main draw, and there are many restaurants that offer the freshest ocean treasures you can find around NYC. One of them is City Island Lobster House. Located on the first left after the City Island Bridge, this low-key spot features outdoor seating for summer feasts and fresh offerings like lobster tails, crab legs, and superb jumbo shrimp. Lobsters that weigh up to 10 lbs are also available to reserve! While waiting for your orders, check out some of the fascinating facts about lobsters on their  website .

Location: 691 Bridge St, the Bronx, NY 10464

2: Artie’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant (Seafood, $$)

If you aren’t into seafood, this laid-back Italian eatery is a great alternative for lunch or dinner. For the past 50 years, Artie’s Restaurant has had many owners, but it remains a beloved spot among New Yorkers who come here for its fantastic selection of wines, jumbo martinis, and Italian specialties, as well as fresh seafood and great steaks and chops. Our favorites are chicken wontons, clam chowder, sea bass, and oysters. The drinks aren’t strong, but they are refreshing and delicious. The service? It is friendly, attentive, and personable.

3: Sea Shore Restaurant (Seafood, $$)

This City Island classic has been servicing fresh seafood since 1920, with a casual atmosphere, outdoor settings, and beautiful waterfront views. The prices are on the higher side, but once you see the portions, you know you get what you’re paying for. Everything they serve is fresh out of the water, and the service is wonderful. Our favorites have always been their Surf and Turf and filet mignon with a broiled lobster tail. There is also a private dining room ideal for special occasions, from birthdays and rehearsal dinners to business meetings.

Location: 591 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

4: Seafood City supermarket (Seafood, $$)

If you want to pair good food with nostalgic arcade games, this spacious, family-friendly spot, which is also the first restaurant on City Island, is where to be! They also have an outdoor tiki bar, which is open whenever the weather is nice. First opened in 1989, this food hall (and supermarket) was to provide a place for Filipino immigrants where they could find ingredients and products from their homeland. If you want to replicate your favorite Filipino dishes, chicken adobo or chicharrón, at home, this is your best bet for ingredient shopping.

Location: 459 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

5: The Original Crab Shanty (Seafood, $$)

This low-key eatery is known for its seafood, especially crabs, and Italian fare. In the early 1900s, it was a movie theater and then transformed into a post office, and in 1977, the restaurant owners took over the property and turned it into the restaurant you see today. Larger portions, less money, and great service are what make The Original Crab Shanty different, and dishes like Feast for Two are a perfect example of that motto. If you are lucky, you might get a spot on their mezzanine floor or in the room with the maple tree growing out of it. You can still find some of the same servers from when they opened in 1977.

Location: 361 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

6: City Island Diner (American, $)

Featured in an episode of  Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee , starring Jerry and Ricky Gervais in a 1967 Austin-Healey 3000, this corner shop is a perfect place for morning fares. If you get to the island early, grab a stool and order their omelets, egg dishes, or muffins, and sip coffee before your adventure. The decor makes you feel like you are eating at your grandma’s house.

Location: 304 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

7: Sammy’s Shrimp Box (Seafood, $$, 4.2/5)

the morris yacht club in city island

The $33 Captain’s Platter at Sammy’s Shrimp Box, City Island.

At the end of the main and the only road on City Island is Sammy’s Shrimp Box. You’ll walk past several tanks of lobsters and crabs before entering a colorful room where you’ll dine with neon lights above. The chef told us everything on the menu was good, and the best option was Captain’s Platter. It is a mix of some of the area’s best seafood, including a lobster tail, scallops, broiled and stuffed shrimp, salmon, and clams casino! Across the street is Sammy’s Fish Box, operated by the same guy, with a more fish-focused menu.

Location: 64 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

8: Johnny’s Reef (Seafood, $$)

At the tip of the island at Belden Point, this cash-only restaurant, reminiscent of a high school cafeteria, features an outdoor patio with majestic front-row views of the passing sailboats. Since 1950, Johnny’s Reef has been serving various treasures from the sea, from lobster tails to soft-shell crabs and always-fresh fried oysters, as well as fried and meaty dishes.

Location: 2 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

9: The Black Whale (American, $$)

Less than a block from Parker’s Garage, which is operated by the same team, The Black Whale is great for snacks and drinks. If you want dinner, go to Parker’s Garage. This place is almost always busy, but if you get there early or wait around long enough, you’ll get a high-top or seat at the horseshoe bar. During happy hours daily between 3:00 and 6:00 PM, there are $3 beers, $4 wine, and discounted food, like $1 oysters and perfectly fried calamari.

Location: 279 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

10: Lickety Split (Ice Cream Shop, $$)

If you want something sweet to wrap up your meal, check out Lickety Split, housed inside a tiny, picturesque wood cottage that looks like it’s been taken straight out of a storybook. The menu features a selection of soft serve, gelato, and over 20 flavors of traditional ice cream. Get a scoop of pistachio or rum raisin in a waffle cone, and enjoy it on the outdoor patio area!

Location: 295 City Island Ave, The Bronx, NY 10464

Where to Drink in City Island

Unlike the overcrowded, overpriced bars in Manhattan, the bars in this small fishing village offer equally good beers and cocktails at a much more reasonable price. A few great options are  Fella’s Bar & Grill , a dive bar with great bar food, cheap beer, and a staff that’s been there for ages;  The Snug , with comfort food, good people, and a homely atmosphere;  Archie’s Tap & Table , a compact, modern-rustic tavern with a patio as well as comfort food, craft beer and wine.  Bronx Alehouse  is a fancier option known for its craft beer and trivia night.

Alright, these are the best things to do and things to eat on City Island. We’ll keep updating this post as we experience more of this hidden gem.

Faced early last year with a rent increase at their apartment in Washington Heights, Jessica Wolk-Stanley, 49, an illustrator, and her husband, Dmitry Kushnirsky, 45, an architect and avid sailor, shopped for homes in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. Leery of flood zones, they leaned toward places with “heights” or “hill” in the name.

When they learned that some homes on City Island, a quaint neighborhood in the Bronx on Long Island Sound, had elevations high enough above sea level to preclude expensive flood insurance, they took a closer look at the waterfront community, which was largely spared the wrath of Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Detached from New York City’s hustle and bustle, the island, a mile and a half long by a half-mile wide, with about 4,400 residents, appeals to first-time buyers, artists, homeowners downsizing from Westchester and boaters, said Sue Kawczynski, an agent with City Island Real Estate.

In August 2014, Ms. Wolk-Stanley and Mr. Kushnirsky bought a “super old-fashioned and quaint” two-story 1920s house with three bedrooms, two baths, front and back porches and a detached “slightly decrepit” garage on a lot of almost 40 by 100 feet, paying $481,000. To their delight, the home’s original kitchen had sturdy cabinets “with wonderful details,” Ms. Wolk-Stanley said.

At the end of their street is a beach club with a few grills for members’ use, a popular arrangement. “It’s $100 and you get a key,” Ms. Wolk-Stanley said. “It is old-school, small-town friendly.”

the morris yacht club in city island

Their 15-year-old son landed a summer job at Lickety Split Ice Cream on City Island Avenue, the north-south spine of the neighborhood. Their 11-year-old daughter and her friends “walk by themselves to each others’ houses, which is nice,” Ms. Wolk-Stanley said. Children ride bikes and walk to school.

“It is a very close community and it is a boating community,” said Gene Valesio, a retired advertising executive who has lived on City Island for 35 years and is acting commodore of the Morris Yacht and Beach Club, one of several on the island.

From the club’s sandy beach and new clubhouse, there are sweeping views of the Throgs Neck and Whitestone bridges and the Manhattan skyline.

Along City Island Avenue, the picture is not as rosy. City Island was hit hard by the crash in 2008, said Skip Giacco, the president of the local chamber of commerce, and has been slow to recover. About 18 storefronts are empty. “Muffin places and things that work in Manhattan don’t work here.”

Paul Klein, owner of the Kaleidoscope Gallery, said his gift shop used to stay open until midnight on weekends, but now closes at 7 p.m.

“Back in the day, people would stroll up and down the avenue in the evening,” said Mr. Klein, who is also the vice president of the local chamber. Since the downturn, weekend visitors “go to a restaurant and leave.”

With more than 100 artists on the island, Mr. Klein said chamber and civic representatives are talking with city and state officials about turning storefronts into spaces for artists to live and work, with galleries in front. “It will make the commercial corridor more vibrant,” he said.

What You’ll Find

From City Island Avenue, residential streets run east and west. Homes vary from bungalows and picturesque cottages on lots as narrow as 25 feet to semidetached houses, Victorians and shingle-style waterfront homes.

Along City Island Avenue are marine supply shops, two small supermarkets, galleries, gift and antiques shops, churches, a branch of the New York Public Library and Public School 175. Next door is Ambrosini Field , with playground equipment and a baseball field. A dolphin sculpture welcomes visitors to shady Hawkins Park . A touring kayak club is on the island’s eastern shore.

A new waterfront gated condominium community, On the Sound , is under construction on the eastern side of the island, next to the Boatyard, a 1980s gated condominium.

What You’ll Pay

Compared with Westchester, Connecticut and Long Island, City Island has “very affordable waterfront properties,” said Kathy Dispenza, an agent with Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty.

Janie Blanks, an associate broker with J. Philip Real Estate, said the market this year is “a lot stronger than in previous years,” with sales increasing but “not necessarily the prices.”

Inventory is limited. An entry-level, fixer-upper cottage of about 500 square feet on a 25-by-100-foot lot can go for the mid to high $200,000s, Ms. Blanks said. The median sales price from May 15 to Aug. 15 was $444,000, according to Trulia.com, a 19.2 percent increase compared with the same period in 2014. Over the last five years, however, median sales prices have decreased 15.4 percent.

Through Aug. 24 of this year, 34 homes sold; the highest went for $972,000, said Sue Kawczynski, an agent with City Island Real Estate. During the same period last year, 18 homes sold, the highest for $980,000.

The cost of flood insurance, which depends on elevation, “is the biggest drawback” to sales, Ms. Kawczynski said.

At On the Sound, the new gated community, about half the 43 condominiums, in the style of two-family houses, are sold, said Jeffrey Simpson, head of the property development group at Greystone, the developer. Prices range from $488,000 to $928,000 for units with two to four bedrooms and two to four baths, according to a spokewoman for Greystone. Monthly common charges start at around $466. The enclave will have an outdoor heated pool, a clubhouse, a fitness center and a playground.

Jack’s Bait and Tackle rents four-person fiberglass motorboats and charter, fishing and party boats for up to 100 passengers. There are seasonal sailing races on Wednesday evenings at the Morris Yacht and Beach Club.

The City Island Nautical Museum displays artifacts from the community’s boatbuilding past in an 1898 former school that is a city landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.

A local hangout, the Starving Artist Cafe and Gallery , offers live entertainment. The City Island Theater Group , a community theater, will produce Neil Simon’s “Plaza Suite” at Grace Hall in November.

More than 30 restaurants include big ones like the Lobster Box and smaller, more eclectic places like Artie’s Steak and Seafood , the City Island Diner , Bistro SK and the Black Whale .

Nearby, Pelham Bay Park , with almost 2,800 acres, has hiking trails, bridle paths, two golf courses, playgrounds, athletic fields, Orchard Beach and the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum .

The Schools

P.S 175 has about 330 students in kindergarten through Grade 8. In English, 36 percent met state standards, versus a city average of 28 percent, according to the 2013-14 School Quality Snapshot . In math, 48 percent met standards, compared with 34 percent citywide.

The Commute

The express bus BxM8 to and from Manhattan runs twice in each direction on weekdays; it takes around an hour and 15 minutes to Midtown and costs $6.50. Commuters also take the Bx29 bus to the Pelham Bay Park subway station, then switch to the No. 6 train. The subway takes about 45 minutes to Grand Central Terminal. In light traffic, the drive to Midtown can take half an hour.

The History

From around 1860 to 1980, City Island was a yacht- and boatbuilding center, said Barbara Burn Dolensek, administrator and vice president of the historical society, which runs the nautical museum. Schooners sailing down Long Island Sound stopped at City Island to pick up Hell Gate pilots to help them navigate the difficult passage to New York Harbor. During the World Wars, P.T. boats, landing craft, minesweepers and sub chasers were built for the United States government. After World War II, yacht building resumed, and several 12-meter sloops that successfully defended the America’s Cup were built here.

The State of Real Estate

Whether you’re renting, buying or selling, here’s a look at real estate trends..

A lot of change is happening in the housing market. Here’s the outlook .

With a landmark legal settlement  poised to upend a decades-old norm that has dictated who pays real estate agents and how much, economists, agents and lenders are beginning to worry that the burden could now be on first-time home buyers .

American homeowners could see a significant drop  in the cost of selling their homes  after a real estate trade group agreed to a landmark deal  that would eliminate the standard 6% sales commission.

A pricey housing market and higher interest rates have made it harder to afford a house, but so-called closing costs — for items like loan origination fees, discount points, appraisal and credit report fees — are also adding to the challenge .

As the prices for office space in urban centers tumble, cities whose municipal budgets rely on taxes associated with commercial real estate are starting to bear the brunt .

Homeowners are adding hidden doors and rooms to foil burglars, eke out extra storage space and prepare for Armageddon .

8 Yacht Clubs and Marinas in the Philippines to Moor Your Boat In

Yacht Clubs and Marinas

FoodfindsAsia.com | 8 Yacht Clubs and Marinas in the Philippines to Moor Your Boat In | Filipinos’ history as a maritime people date back to prehistoric times. In fact, the Philippines’ basic sociopolitical unit today, the barangay, traces its etymological origins to the balangay , the ancient outrigger boats that were used by precolonial Filipino communities to explore and conquer islands this side of the Pacific. As a people belonging to a seafaring culture, it’s no wonder that modern Filipinos are taking a retrospective look at their glorious past as Austronesian mariners and are developing a renewed love for the ocean and marinas as present-day yachtsmen.

Today, Philippine marinas look to accommodate more and more yachts and other pleasure watercrafts as the years go by. In 2017, an ASEAN Briefing op-ed piece named the Philippines as a country with high potential in yacht industry growth. The natural beauty of the Philippine islands and its fantastic bays, combined with a growing interest in leisurely sea travel, can explain the spike in yachting activities throughout the country.

Are you part of the demographic that’s become enamored of the yachting lifestyle? Do you want to know where in the country you can berth your watercraft? Leading sailboat and motorboat authority Europa Yachts is happy to enter the conversation, and recommends the following locations for discovering the Philippines through yachting. Here is a short list of clubs and marinas in the country, organized by island region.

Manila Yacht Club and Marina, Manila, Metro Manila

Established in 1927, the Manila Yacht Club and Marina is one of the oldest yacht clubs in all of Asia, and is nestled in the scenic Manila Bay. It is also near other well-known landmarks in the city, such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the headquarters of the Philippine Navy, and the US Embassy. Facilities in the marina include a launching ramp and a fueling center, and the club itself is host to a restaurant and gorgeous function rooms. The Manila Yacht Club only welcomes visitors who arrive by boat, and it charges an initial security deposit of USD 750 upon arrival. Club membership is mandatory for medium and long-term mooring of boats.

Subic Bay Yacht Club, Zambales

The Subic Bay Yacht Club, which was founded in 1998, upholds itself as the country’s premier yacht club. Non-members of the club may use the berths for up to 3 weeks, and can refuel at the marina’s fueling station. The yacht club offers other amenities such as locker rooms, shower rooms, Internet facilities, a chart room, and a restaurant called Barracuda Bar, which serves delicious fares. Outside of the yachting crowd, Punta Fuego Yacht Club also caters to those wishing to celebrate weddings, conferences, and corporate events in their opulent quarters.

Puerto Galera Yacht Club, Oriental Mindoro

Further south, yachtsmen may moor at the Puerto Galera Yacht Club in Oriental Mindoro, an island location that’s home to tourist attractions like the Sabang Wreck dive site, lively beachfront resorts, and the Malasimbo Music Festival. Puerto Galera Yacht Club has been in operation for almost thirty years and lends services such as refueling provisions and yacht repairs from its marina. Boat owners also enjoy optimal convenience if mooring here, as they can also shop for spare parts in the nearby Batangas port.

Busuanga Yacht Club, Puerta del Sol Bay Marina, Palawan

Beautiful Palawan is a bucket-list destination for many, especially those who dream of cruising its crystalline waters. Accommodating the yachting community in this island province is the Busuanga Yacht Club, which promises secure mooring amidst breathtaking white-sand beaches. Here, each vessel will benefit from a typhoon-safe harbor, easy refueling, and direct access to transportation hubs like the New Busuanga Airport. Adjoining this marina is the Puerta del Sol Bay Resort, which offers luxurious accommodations to visitors. When not atop the deck of a boat, travelers can also explore the lagoons and freshwater lakes of Coron, go shipwreck diving, or relax in the hot springs of Maquinit.

Iloilo Sailing Club, Arevelo, Iloilo City, Iloilo

Iloilo Province is home to some of the country’s most beautiful old-world architecture, a flourishing ecotourism industry, and delectably fresh seafood cuisine. What will round off an unforgettable visit to Iloilo, however, is an excursion to the Iloilo Sailing Club on a leisure watercraft. The club accepts visitors and encourages membership in the case of medium and long-stay mooring. It also hosts a number of amenities and activities, including a dinghy storage, a beach bar and restaurant, and classes for those who want to learn about sailing. In recent months, the Iloilo Sailing Club has also been a convenient meet-up point for big maritime events, such as the Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta and the Seafarers’ Job Fair.

Cebu Yacht Club, Mactan Island, Cebu

The historic Mactan Island in Cebu was the site of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan’s arrival in the Philippines. Now known as a commercial hub that hosts a prolific furniture and musical instruments industries, Mactan is also the location of the Cebu Yacht Club, an institution that is beloved by the locals. Aside from being an ideal spot to restock on much-needed fuel and supplies, the Cebu Yacht Club is also a trusted club to commission for boat repairs. There’s a good vibe in this club for everybody, as it sports both luxury accommodations and a waterfront strip of restaurants that laid-back diners can frequent. MINDANAO

Holiday Oceanview Marina, Samal Island, Davao del Norte

The Holiday Oceanview Marina is a major attraction of Samal Island in Davao del Norte Province, one that welcomes Filipino and foreign yachtsmen alike to moor within its premises. The space is quite roomy, in fact, with 56 berths that can fit vessels up to 15 meters in length. The club also has a boat ramp that can accommodate boats up to 18 meters in length. The well-guarded and weather-safe marina is a gateway to some of Mindanao’s finest attractions, such as the Pearl Farm, Hagimit Falls, and Giant Clam Sanctuary.

There’s no better way to discover the Philippines from end to end than getting onboard a seaworthy vessel and going on a long cruise, with stops in some of the most beautiful places in the country. Find a safe harbor in any of these major clubs and marinas, and participate in the renaissance of sailing in the Philippines.

Moscow nightlife beautiful girls

Moscow: nightlife and clubs

Moscow nightlife: despite the freezing weather, the Russian capital gets hot as the sun goes down. Between discos, luxury, exaggerated parties and beautiful Russian girls, the Moscow nightlife offers everything you need for memorable nights.

Moscow nightlife

The city of Moscow is definitely one of the most interesting European cities: the stories about underground lines and secret bunkers, the architecture of its buildings, from the Kremlin to St. Basil's Cathedral, up to the Soviet style of the Seven Sisters and modern skyscrapers, make the Russian capital is a unique and fascinating city.

Moscow nightlife by night

One of the many things that Moscow is famous for is its wild nightlife . Moscow never sleeps. If there is anything true about Russians, it is that they love to party! Despite its freezing weather, Moscow turns out to be a hot city with endless fun, hip nightclubs, extreme luxury, beautiful Russian girls and lots of booze when night falls!

Moscow Russian girls nightlife

In fact, in recent years, the Russian capital has definitively abandoned the gray period of communism and its inhabitants have given vent to their desire for fun. As you might expect in a city of over 12 million people, Moscow has an amazing array of nightlife options and a huge choice for all tastes, whether you are a jazz fan, hardcore clubbers or just plain old alcoholics. The nightlife in Moscow winds through a multitude of alternative and transgressive nightclubs where the watchword is to meet new people and spend a night of unbridled and uninhibited fun . In addition to the numerous discos, in the Russian capital there are also 20 casinos open until dawn. For those who want a break of intriguing relaxation, in the city of Moscow there are also numerous massage salons .

Moscow nightlife

Most of Moscow's nightclubs contain a restaurant, a bar area and a nightclub (the larger ones also have bowling alleys, billiards and a casino!). Perhaps because Moscow is such a large metropolis with very cold temperatures and taxis are so expensive that the owners of the bars and clubs want to offer their customers an all in one place for night entertainment.

So, in other words, Moscow is not the best city in the world for bar-crawling, especially bearing in mind that these multipurpose venues often charge entrance, but rather it is better to carefully choose the club where to spend the night.

For a quieter and more sober evening, head for an evening stroll along the Via Arbat or the Red Square to be fascinated by the lights of the city and the grandeur of the buildings, and admire the shops and street artists. An alternative to experience Moscow's nightlife is to spend an evening of lyric, ballet or opera. The Russian capital is home to around sixty theaters, the most famous of which is the world-renowned Bolshoi Theater (Theater Square, 1, Moscow).

Moscow nightlife Bolshoi Theater

Moscow nightlife districts

Moscow's nightlife is not concentrated in a single district but is scattered throughout the city. However, there are areas with a greater concentration of bars and nightclubs .

The Krasnij Oktjabr (Russian for "Red October") complex, a red brick building located on the island in the center of the Moscow River that once housed a chocolate factory, is dotted with numerous trendy nightclubs and offers spectacular views of the river and the symbolic places of the Russian capital. This is where the most glamorous parties in Moscow take place, there are numerous bars, restaurants and art galleries.

Nightlife Moscow Red October Krasnij Oktjabr

Other neighborhoods with good nightlife are the old manufactory area near the Russian government building which houses some bars, the area around the Trubnaya metro and around Kuznetsky Most , while the Kurskaya groups the clubs with electronic music. We can also mention the area of the Patriarch's ponds, an area that is teeming with quiet bars.

Clubs and discos in Moscow

fb_icon_tiny

The crowd is very mixed. Students, young professionals, techno lovers, tourists all gather at Propaganda. Everyone comes to enjoy the music and have fun. It is one of the few clubs where the dancefloor dominates and there are hardly any tables, apart from a few that overlook the entire space. Propaganda is a restaurant until midnight. You can come earlier for dinner and stay for dancing. After midnight, the staff clears the tables from the dance floor and the whole place turns into a club. The place is different from the usual Moscow restaurant / club hybrids, however, because the atmosphere changes completely from "relaxed restaurant" to "underground electro club". Not to be missed.

Moscow Nightlife Propaganda

There are more areas with different music. In the first area, expect a mix of traditional music and Russian pop songs. In the second, slightly larger area, there is live Russian pop music until 2am. After that it is mostly some kind of electronic music. The club is frequented by beautiful Russian girls around 18-25 years old, stunning students or models, and of course there is a good deal of young Russians, middle-aged men and foreign tourists trying their luck! Unlike many other nightclubs, the Icon is a pure nightclub and not a club turned into a restaurant. In any case, if you like to party in a big club and want to savor the typical Moscow nightlife , this is the perfect solution.

Moscow Icon Club nightlife

The crowd is the same as in other high-end Moscow clubs. Men are rarely under the age of 35 and are committed to giving the impression that money is not an issue. The women are amazing even by Moscow nightlife - if you want to meet Moscow's super models, this is the place! Ideal if you want to toast with the Moscow elite.

Moscow Siberia nightlife

The club is located on two floors. The lower floor is mainly frequented by people hanging out at the bar and is good for conversation. The narrow stairs that perfectly fit the student atmosphere of the club take you to the main floor where the real party takes place, complete with a bedlam and girls dancing on the bar counter. In the summer months there is also an outdoor terrace. The place is always crowded and bouncers unnecessarily queue people - having a table or someone inside can be the key to skipping the queue. Otherwise, you might end up waiting half an hour or more. Come early or come back late if you want to avoid the crowds.

Moscow nightlife Rolling Stone Bar

The crowd that frequents this club is quite mixed. People are less trendy and more underground. The place is suitable for afterhours, so most people arrive from 3am onwards.

Moscow Gazgolder nightlife

Immediately upon entering, you will have the feeling that you have come to the local high school graduation prom instead of a real Moscow nightclub. There is no real interior design, but basically just a large hall with a stage and a bar. The crowd is almost entirely made up of teenagers and young people. Not many of the teens speak English, but it probably doesn't matter after all the alcohol. The music ranges from Russian pop and hip-hop to the most famous international hits. Perfect if you want to party and drink alcohol in one of the cheapest clubs in Moscow .

Here too, it's full of beautiful girls and it's also a great place to hit them off, as those who come here are notoriously more approachable. The advice is to be very firm with the girls who approach and to make your intentions clear. If you want to be 100% sure to get in, come at 2am when the club is still uncrowded.

Moscow nightlife Miks Afterparty

Oblaka plays a mix of Russian and international pop music. Occasionally, as in many other clubs, there are performances by Russian pop singers. As is often the case in these types of clubs, the music and DJ are not the best but the guests don't seem to care.

Moscow's bars and pubs

The bar looks similar but still distinctly different than regular Moscow posh clubs. Most of the people who frequent this place are over 25, and you can find everything from young professionals to creative types to self-proclaimed models. Great if you want to see the "real Muscovites" celebrate without the overblown flashes of wealth. The proposed music is a strange mix of old and new commercial songs and Russian pop.

Moscow nightlife Bar Klava

Downstairs is a large open space that opens its doors wide in the summer. The interior is rustic, yet elegant, with wooden furnishings and plenty of seating. The interior combined with Ugolek's popularity creates a crowded yet intimate atmosphere, especially on weekends. People come to chat, drink and eat. The upstairs bar has a more welcoming atmosphere. It is smaller, with soft lighting and armchairs to be able to relax. On weekends there is a DJ who mixes electronic music and transforms the bar into a relaxed place, ideal for the pre-party.
