2001 Bruckmann Bruckmann 50 This Mark Ellis design has redefined the motor sailor genre and offers solid performance with 9 knot speeds under power or sail.  Razz M' Tazz is a perfect blend of power and sail.  She has the comfort of a trawler below with gorgeous mahogany joiner work.  The inside helm offers 360 degree visibility and protection in any weather, and her single level cockpit and salon offer a huge area to entertain and relax. The outside helm has the sail controls close at hand.  She is rigged for short hand sailing with Leisure Furl Boom, electric winches, and roller furling headsail.   Razz M' Tazz has been thoughtfully updated by her knowledgeable owners.  This is a balanced, swift blue water sailer with the advantage of excellent speed under power and amenities for comfort and luxury rarely found in a sailboat. Entering from the cockpit the Salon is at the same level and connected through a sliding glass door.  This becomes a large area for entertaining when the doors are open. This is a new boat located in Harpswell in Maine.  The Abaco 40 is designed by Mark Ellis and built by Bruckmann Yachts. The Abaco is a classic Downeast style with a single engine, keel and skeg, that protects prop from lobster pots and debris.    This boat has a traditional Hereshoff style interior, a centerline berth forward and a large head with separate stall shower.   The dinette in the salon easily converts to a queen size berth. Powered with a 670 HP Cummins, the Abaco gets up on a plane at 10 knots and cruises comfortably at 25 knots with a top speed of 28-29.  The Abaco 40 has been designed to be easily handled by one and comfortably accommodates two plus two overnight guests. The Bruckmann 50 MK II offers performance that outpaces sailboats and trawlers in her size range.  With a 200 HP John Deere diesel this boat  powers along at 9+ knots.  Reaching in approximately 15 knots of wind she will comfortably sail at 10 knots.  WINIFRED can be driven from the cockpit or the inside steering station which has 360 degree visibility and is comfortable in any weather.  She has been equipped with bow and stern thrusters for maneuvering in tight spaces.  WINIFRED has the MKII  extended swim platform which provides additional waterline for better performance and additional storage. Mark Bruckmann is a second generation boat builder.  The Bruckmann Yachts are high quality construction with modern systems and classic good looks. WINIFRED is offered by her original owner who has maintained her in excellent condition. If you are contemplating a move from sail to power this is a design you should consider Winifred.   Starting forward, the Owner's Cabin has a large V-berth with a Temperpedic mattress filler to create a queen size berth. There is anchor locker access at the forward end of the berth.   An overhead hatch provides light and ventilation. Above and outboard of the berth are six louvered  lockers for storage. There is a large cedar-lined hanging locker and drawer storage under the berth. Interior fabric is ginger-colored Ultrasuede.  To port in the Owner's Cabin is a vanity with mirror and seat. The Heads are located on the port side. Access to the owner's head is from the forward stateroom or the hall. It is equipped with an Italian marble floor, stainless sink, Corian counters, and VacuFlush head. Next aft is a separate stall shower, which can be accessed from the guest's or owner's head. The shower is designed with a seat and telephone-style shower. There is a teak grate and a storage locker. The guest head is accessed from the hall and can be used as a day head. It is equipped like the owner's head. A Guest Cabin is located to starboard. It has a full-size berth, a hanging locker, and lockers above the berth for storage. An opening port and overhead hatch provide light and ventilation. Stainless steel Danish cabin lights. Cedar ceiling strips on the inside of the hull. Moving aft to starboard is the Den/Library. This features an L-shaped settee. The outboard settee can be used as a sea berth. On the forward side of the Den are two large lockers that has a full-size Meile washer and dryer. I'd like to share some essential knowledge for existing or new owners of yachts and service providers in the industry to keep customers and vessels safe and secure in the marina industry, which differs a little bit from a corporate environment.

The first and most essential step is vetting your crew members for criminal records, their online footprint and their work history. When you offer services in this industry, you have to understand that a multimillion-dollar yacht is not just only a moving villa on the sea; it also has a very sophisticated expensive IT infrastructure, and its owners are oftentimes public figures who value their privacy and security, both physically and in the digital world.

Over the years, I have worked with my team from Oceans Yachting on numerous projects, and I'd like to share our expertise with other leaders in the industry.

Security Basics

Contractors who work with yacht owners have the absolute obligation to protect the asset's hardware, software, information and identity with the best technology and knowledge possible. After a successful implementation project (whether a build, refit or upgrade), the entire vessel needs to be monitored and maintained due to daily exposure to ever-changing cybersecurity threats, and its access, identity and location should be kept protected at all times.

If you have a staff of 20 or more permanently on board year-round, they need to be educated and trained on industry do's and don'ts. For example, all private work should only be performed on their own dedicated network in their off time. That way, they can't do damage to the client's network even if they are able to download a virus.

Network Considerations

In a regular cyberattack at a corporation, there might be financial or reputational damages; however, in the marina industry, the consequences can be way more severe, including jeopardizing human life in the event of a crash. For this reason, I highly recommend that commercially used vessels and private vessels have multiple networks set up—not just in the interest of complying with cyber risk guidelines from organizations like the International Maritime Organization, but also for the fundamental security of everybody on board. Every vessel should have the following networks:

1. A network that is only for communication and navigation. (Navigation systems should under no circumstances be connected to the internet; updates should be performed offline and on board.)

2. A crew network that is very limited in bandwidth and have many functions restricted, such as watching illegally obtained movies online, using Instagram, and so on. Activities like these can compromise the location and security of the owners and crew to pirates at sea or digital attackers.

3. A network just for the owners that is designed to meet the needs of the owner.

4. A dedicated network to monitor and access the entire engine system and communications.

5. Three internet lines: a shoreline for when the vessel is at the marina, a satellite line for use on the ocean and a 5G line for when the vessel is close to the coast or shore.

Work-based email and cellular lines should be controlled internally; no crew members should use personal emails or alternative sources to communicate without explicit permission.

Remaining Vigilant And Prepared

The captain and security officer of a vessel always need to be in close contact with the IT and security team, while the main staff should have limited knowledge and access to anything security-related. I can't stress the importance of security and the elevated risk a yacht's owners often face enough. This industry is a small but wealthy one, so they may be attractive to pirates at sea, kidnappers or cyberattacks for ransom.

It's important to look at all elements all the time and minimize clients' exposure (including to personal security risks). Having a small closed circle of people on board is better. There should be an area of operations established for every situation. Make sure to evaluate the risk and the level of security needed for the asset.

Get the right people for each job, because every job is different.

In most situations, for all corporations or industries, crisis response time is more valuable than money to business owners or CEOS, as a quick response can minimize damage to data, reputation and clients.

When it comes to the hardware service providers use, everything should be redundant, including battery backups, firewalls, switches, access points, servers and so on. This is because on a vessel, you cannot just go and order or buy a switch the same day if you are on the open ocean. Similarly, all equipment should be kept licensed and monitored remotely to ensure immediate responses are possible.
