Yachts routinely steal the show during the F1 grand prix weekend.

The yachts docking in the harbour for the F1 Monaco Grand Prix have turned heads - with a couple particularly impressing.

A yacht named Seven Sins caused a commotion because there is a Bugatti Chiron onboard.

The Seven Sins can be chartered for a week at a much more reasonable $300,000 but that doesn’t come with the Bugatti!

The car itself is worth around £2.5m and, now, there is one in full view in Monaco harbour during the F1.

A yacht named Evrima, owned by Ritz-Carlton, is being used by Lewis Hamilton , George Russell and Toto Wolff as part of their partnership with Mercedes .

Evrima is more of a floating luxury hotel than a boat.

Guests have voyaged around France before docking in Monaco for the coolest weekend of the year.

Rooms cost $10,000 to $100,000 for holidaymakers at this time of year.

If you want to charter Evrima, it will set you back $2.2m for a week.

It boasts 149 rooms, a private terrace for each suite, an infinity pool and even an onboard therapist.

It has direct access to the seawater, and watersports, from its deck.

The biggest yacht at the Monaco Grand Prix (so far) is actually owned by the Ritz-Carlton. • 149 Cabins • Pools, Spa & Gym • Rooms cost $10,000 to $100,000+ It's essentially a luxury cruise — you spend a few days in France and then dock in Monaco for the race. A superyacht named Faith has also docked in Monaco for the grand prix and it is known to some of F1's richest people.

The $200m yacht was previously owned by Lawrence Stroll, the current Aston Martin owner.

Stroll sold it to the billionaire father of former F1 driver Nicholas Latifi.

Faith has a helipad onboard plus a gym and a theatre.

And it's yours to rent for one week for a mere $1.5m...

A yacht named Lionheart is also turning heads in Monaco this year.

It was formerly owned by businessman Philip Green, and is valued at $150m.

The largest yacht currently in Monaco's Port Hercule is Lionheart, a superyacht built for businessman Philip Green by Benetti SpA, which cost $150 million. Most famously, when Kimi Raikkonen was forced to retire early from the 2006 Monaco Grand Prix, rather than go back to his team garage he instead walked straight to the harbour to find his yacht.

Moments later, he was spotted lounging in the sun onboard his private yacht with his friends - with the F1 race going on without him.

The Superyachts of the Monaco Grand Prix

superyachts Monaco Grand Prix

If you like nice boats and fast cars, and frankly who doesn't, the Monaco Grand Prix is the place to be.

Every year the world's elite descend upon the beautiful Mediterranean island to take in the annual F1 race. But over the years, it's become arguably as much about boating as it is about auto racing. Massive superyachts with premium slips can moor with their stern facing the racetrack. It's quite the sight, and it adds an additional spectacle to watching the world's fastest cars rip through the narrow streets of Monaco. Both on the track and off, there's plenty to see.

Those slips, and the top decks of those superyachts, have the perfect vantage point to catch a portion of the race. They also serve as a makeshift showcase for boating enthusiasts to see who, and what, is in town for the weekend.

There are 760 berths up for grabs near the racetrack, with the least expensive running about $3,800 a night. But, for those who want a guaranteed view of the racing, or for those who need a large slip for a large boat, they can run up to $110,000 a night.

This year included some of the nicest superyachts from around the world, plus a few smaller vessels that captured the public's attention. We took a deep dive into the three most eye-catching boats in Monaco over the weekend, and they're not your typical fare.

Conor McGregor yacht Lamborghini Tecnomar

Arguably the biggest splash on the scene was UFC superstar Conor McGregor and his Lamborghini Tecnomar 63 . And it wasn't because of the size of his boat, but because of the buzz it generated.

In 2020, ‘The Notorious’ purchased the 63-foot-long Lamborghini Tecnomar 63. The 63 is a boutique ensemble of old school Lamborghini style (the "63" is both the length of the boat and an ode to Lambo's first year in business), and ultra-modern tech from Tecnomar. Of the 63 being made, McGregor scooped up #12 in ode to his Proper 12 Irish whiskey.

yachts at monaco grand prix

Not only is the yacht modeled after Lambo's new hybrid Sián Supercar , it also has old school kickbacks to the Countach and Miura of the 60's and 70's. Tecnomar provided the modern touch with carbon fiber accents, a futuristic layout, 4000 horsepower, dual diesel V12's, a top speed of 60 knots (70 mph). It even has the epic nickname of "Supercar of the Sea." That is some legit performance for a luxury yacht.

By all accounts, McGregor had a really good time in Monaco. Great dock slip, too.

Always known as a crafty fighter with clever trash talk, McGregor may have out-gamed the system by bringing a smaller vessel. The inner docks of Port Hercules overlooking the racetrack have a length restriction of 30 meters. With only a 19 meter (63 foot) LOA, McGregor was able to get right on top of the action.

The Octopus

Octopus superyacht

The biggest boat in Monaco this year might be familiar to yacht enthusiasts. The superyacht Octopus was the most expensive yacht sold in 2021 , and it was originally commissioned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. It is now reportedly owned by Swedish industrialist Roger Samuelsson .

The Octopus , at a whopping 414 feet long, went onto the market following Allen's death in 2018. it sold for a record-setting $266 million in August of 2021. Initially, the ship was listed as high as $325 million before undergoing several price drops until finding a buyer. At the time it was launched in 2003, it was the world's largest yacht .

The explorer-style yacht was built by respected German shipyard Lurssen, and some of its most recognizeable details include a full recording studio, a full size swimming pool, a gym, a library, and a basketball court. Her coolest feature might be the hydraulically-assisted swimming pool that converts to a dancefloor. As for guest accommodations, there are 13 cabins for 26 guests and space for over 60 crew. The master suite has its own private elevator and observation deck, not to mention two VIP apartments, seven double staterooms, and three twin staterooms.

yachts at monaco grand prix

The rugged hull design was built for Arctic exploration, and power comes from massive diesel-electric engines and eight generators. Its hybrid propulsion system gives Octopus increased autonomy and greater range, allowing it to travel up to 9000 nautical miles (16,600 km) before needing to refuel. It also has an impressive top speed of 19 knots (22 mph). She's functional too, having helped the British Royal Navy recover the bell of the historic HMS Hood from a depth of 1.7 miles (2.8 km) in the Denmark Strait of the North Atlantic after it sunk during World War II.

But all of that undersells the coolness of what she hides below deck. Octopus was designed to accommodate one of the most insane collection of secondary vessels ever seen. Two helicopters, a submarine, and seven tenders all use custom holding stations inside the hull's framework. There are also two life rafts, multiple jet skis, and an autonomous robotic boat (ROV) for deep sea exploration. There is even a glass bottomed observation deck, a fully-equipped diving station, and a hyperbaric chamber for post-dive recovery. There's also the small matter of the literal Beatles-inspired Yellow Submarine .

If you couldn't make it to Monaco but would like a ride aboard Octopus, she's available for charter for a meager $2.4 million per week. The last time she went out for charter, F1 champ Lewis Hamilton and Olympic medalist Shaun White had one heck of a good time cruising around Antarctica.

'joyMe

'joyMe superyacht Monaco Croatia

The most visually stunning yacht that pulled up for F1's big hoorah might have been the 164-foot (50 m) 'joyMe . Most superyachts (and most yachts in general) tend to have bland colour schemes. Usually you get all-white, and sometimes if you're lucky you might see the occasional blue or green accent.

Not so with 'joyMe , as she's decked out with an eye-popping chrome lower half and a crimson red upper hull. To complement the unique colours and details, she also has a beautiful teak deck. Her interior also sports some avant-garde style that wouldn't be out of place in a modern art exhibit or inside David Bowie's wildly styled superyacht El Caran .

Her top speed is 15.0 kn (17 mph) and her cruising speed is 13.0 kn (15 mph), which is pretty average for a 164-foot superyacht, but we'll chalk that up to the fact she devoted her resources to looking good. On the upside, she does have a maximum cruising range of 3200.0 nm (3600 miles / 5800 km) at 12.0 knots, which is solid. She gets her power from twin Cummins diesel engines and can accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 staterooms and 11 crew members.

Not only is her exterior unique, but so is her interior layout. All the guest staterooms are located on the main deck, which is both peculiar and extremely rare (they're typically well below deck). The perk is that it creates better views from enormous bay windows and easier access to everything topside. There's also a 'VIP Deck' for the owners, which is laid out like a full size apartment and includes a walk-in bathroom, master lounge, a jacuzzi, and access to the wheelhouse.

Since all the guests are on the top deck, that leaves room below for a full gym, a Finnish sauna, and a Hammam spa. What's a Hammam spa , you ask? Also known as a 'Turkish bath,' it uses hot steam during treatments to encourage a more intense and refreshing experience. As if sitting on her deck to watch an F1 race wasn't epic enough.

'joyMe is currently the largest yacht under the Croatian flag available for charter on the Adriatic, which makes her one of the best (and most attractive) options for exploring the coast of Croatia and Montenegro, or for taking in an F1 race.

The Largest Superyachts in Monaco for the 2022 Grand Prix

By Emily Dawkins

The Monaco Grand Prix is often recognised as one of the most iconic events in the summer calendar; not only for the fans of Formula One and motorsports, but also for the luxurious world of superyachts.

Marking the unofficial start of the yachting charter season, the prominent motorsport event offers the perfect opportunity for the UHNW elite to revel in all things luxury. From a-list events, dazzling car displays and lavish boutiques, the Grand Prix in Monaco has it all.

Not just offering the perfect high-class experience inland, the waters of Monaco present an incredible location to watch the GP races unfold. The legendary Port Hercule provides numerous berths with stern-to-track mooring, allowing those on yachts to watch the action unfold from the comfort of their lounges onboard.

With only one day remaining until the start of the 2022 Monaco GP, we take a look at the largest yachts that have been spotted in Monaco, either berthed in Port Hercule or deeper in the Monégasque bay.

96.6m FAITH

Delivered by Feadship in 2017, 96.6m FAITH is a magnificent example of the meticulous craftsmanship of the Dutch yard. Across five vast decks, FAITH offers numerous indoor and outdoor entertaining and lounge areas: an idyllic spot to watch the races from the water. With exceptional onboard features including a glass-bottomed swimming pool and large beach club, FAITH also provides an excellent retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the GP. Currently listed for charter with Burgess , it is no surprise that this breathtaking superyacht is berthed in Port Hercule.

92.4m TATOOSH

Two legends meet: Nobiskrug’s 92.4m TATOOSH has been spotted in the waters of Monaco. Delivered in 2000 by the German yard, the white superstructure of TATOOSH is recognisable around the world. Featuring several versatile exterior spaces and an array of onboard amenities including a jacuzzi, pool, and a floor that rises to become a dancefloor, TATOOSH fits in perfectly with Monaco’s opulence. Joining the brokerage market in 2021, the 92.4m motor yacht is listed for sale with Burgess .

91.5m QUEEN MIRI

91.5m QUEEN MIRI is the largest yacht to be delivered by Greek shipyard Neorion. Abundant in space, both inside and out, alongside numerous sublime features including a children’s playroom, beauty salon and conference facilities, QUEEN MIRI presents the ultimate yacht for optimal work/life balance. Spotted moored in Port Hercule’s Quai Rainier III, QUEEN MIRI is currently believed to be privately owned.

90m LIONHEART

Launched by Benetti in 2016, 90m LIONHEART remains in her home berth of Port Hercule for the Monaco GP this year. Often spotted cruising the nearby Mediterranean waters, little has been revealed about LIONHEART since her launch, but with an array of comfortable outdoor areas the 90m would undoubtedly offer an exemplary location for watching the GP. She is currently berthed at the end of Quai Rainier Ier.

88.5m CLOUD 9

Moored at Monaco’s deep water anchorage is Oceanco’s 88.5m CLOUD 9. Previously named INFINITY,  the 88.5m was delivered in 2015 by the Dutch shipyard, and was sold by Burgess earlier this year. As one of the largest sales of 2022 so far, CLOUD 9’s appearance in Monaco is the first time she has been seen since her name change. She is now available for charter with Burgess for the first time since her delivery.

Other large superyachts that have been spotted in Port Hercule and Monaco's surrounding waters include:

87.78m FOUNTAINHEAD

86m MAN OF STEEL for charter with Ocean Independence

82.5m SECRET for sale and charter with  Burgess

81.2m GRACE

74.5m LADY E for charter with Burgess

73m CORAL OCEAN

109m BRAVO EUGENIA was recently spotted in Monaco but has since moved to the nearby Port Vauban Antibes, where 91.5m TRANQUILLITY and 97.2m CARINTHIA VII are also berthed.

With the action set to kick off tomorrow with the first F1 free practice sessions, we can’t wait to see what the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix will hold, and what other superyachts will make an appearance in Port Hercule.

The coolest yachts to charter at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix

Heralding the unofficial start of the Mediterranean yachting season, the Monaco Grand Prix brings roaring races, A-lister events and a swell of superyacht titans to the principality each year. The event is one of just two Formula One fixtures on the calendar that can be watched from on board as the yachts moor stern to the track in Port Hercules. Catch the best views of the action from one of these yachts, available to charter at the 2023 race.

Guaranteed to garner plenty of attention, the 60.9-metre Arience is one of the largest charter yachts available for charter at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix. She was built by German yard Abeking & Rasmussen and delivered in 2012, featuring interior and exterior styling by Reymond Langton Design . You can enjoy front-row seats to race from her expansive sun deck, but if you want a bird's eye view - head up to the circular observation lounge. Or simply relax and soak in the action from the hot tub on the owner's private deck on the bow. Arience sleeps 12 guests and 16 crew, with plenty of space for parties, too.

Arience is available to charter with Cecil Wright with a weekly rate from €595,000.

Feadship's 43-metre superyacht Go , delivered by the Dutch yard in 2010, has secured a spot in Monaco's Port Hercules. She is one of the largest yachts of her size on the water and features excellent deck space – ideal for catching all the race day action. She's also super stylish, with clean lines, modern furnishings and contemporary design running throughout. The spacious yacht accommodates 10 guests and nine crew, plus more for parties, of course.

Go is available to charter with Y.CO with a weekly rate from €200,000 .

The Grand Prix was traditionally considered a gentleman's sport, so where better to watch it than a classic gentleman's yacht. The 35.4-metre Alhambra , delivered by Dutch yard Feadship in 1970, enjoyed a modern refit in 2021 that added contemporary touches to her classic styling. Accommodating 10 guests and six crew, racing fans can bask in the atmosphere from the yacht's large sundeck, two al fresco lounges, or the foredeck, featuring a bar.

Alhambra is available to charter with Northrop & Johnson with a weekly rate from €55,000 .

Catching plenty of attention in her spot at anchor, Palmer Johnson ’s 52.4-metre gold-hulled DB9 is the perfect yacht for entertaining over the Formula One weekend. She’s primed for hosting Monaco Grand Prix yacht charters, with three pools, an integrated speaker system and an expansive sundeck for soaking up the rays. With her sharp, sporty look and supercar-inspired name, DB9 is completely at home at the F1.

DB9 is available to charter with Worth Avenue Yachts with a weekly rate from $25,000,000 .

Making her way onto the rankings of one of the finest charter yachts on the market, Phoenix 2 has some rare availability at the Monaco Grand Prix. The 90 metre Lürssen was designed inside and out by Winch Design to capture the art deco spirit of New York. She is finished with a 5.7-metre firebird figurehead that rises up from the bow like the eagles mounted on the Chrysler building.

Inside, Phoenix 2 is an entertainer at heart and even features a piano lounge, commissioned for an owner with a penchant for music. According to Andrew Winch the 90 metre Lürssen has played host to some world-class musicians and extravagant soirees over the years. Adding to The Great Gatsby vibes, a six-panelled gold-bas relief by DKT Artworks overlooks the custom Steinway.

Phoenix 2 i s available to charter with Edmiston with a weekly rate of €1,150,000.

Competing with the racing cars for attention is the sleek 49.5-metre motor yacht Khalilah , delivered by American yard Palmer Johnson in 2014. Catch the race from her large aft deck or for panoramic views and a hot tub, head to the sundeck. Inside the yacht's bold, gold exteriors, she sleeps 11 guests and nine crew and features interior styling by Luxury Projects and Palmer Johnson's in-house design team.

Khalilah is available to charter with Fraser with a weekly rate from €255,000.

Hot on the heels of an all-encompassing 2023 refit, the 50.4-metre Emerald is a fine flagbearer for classic Feadship style, with her clean lines and well-balanced profile. Returning to the charter fleet after 16 months in the yard she is now more than two metres longer and boasts a striking new paint job, reflective of her new name. Primed for entertaining, Emerald boasts a vast sundeck – a perfect spot to take in the Grand Prix excitement – and has a bar on hand to keep the cocktails flowing.

Emerald is managed for charter with TWW with a weekly rate of €210,000 .

The 66.4-metre Okto was built in Italy by ISA and delivered in 2014, instantly becoming an icon. Now scheduled to be in Monaco in May, the yacht, listed for charter with Camper & Nicholsons , is set to be one of the most in-demand charters at anchor during the Grand Prix. She was designed by Andrea Vallicelli with interior styling by Alberto Pinto , and can accommodate up to 11 guests in six cabins, and 16 crew. Her spacious decks offer plenty of room to celebrate the race day action, while her six-metre infinity edge pool and elevated sundeck Jacuzzi are great places to soak in the atmosphere.

Okto is available to charter with Camper & Nicholsons with a weekly rate from €480,000 .

Having won a World Superyacht Award for her attention-grabbing, vertical-plumb bow exterior, S oundwave will be sure to turn heads during the Monaco Grand Prix. A monochrome masterpiece of poise and comfort, the 63-metre yacht was the second bluff-bowed boat Benetti has ever built, and features a wonderful sundeck, primed for entertaining.

But for those looking for some recovery after high-octane-action at the Grand Prix, the top deck of Soundwave is dedicated to wellness, complete with a massage room, steam room and shower area as well as a mosaic-tiled hot tub for unwinding. A small seating area with a kitchenette allows the crew to serve up smoothies or other healthy snacks to refuel after a day at the races.

Soundwave is available to charter with Y.CO with a weekly rate of €650,000 .

Royal Falcon One

This 41-metre Custom catamaran will be turning heads in Monaco during the Grand Prix, not just because of her sweeping superstructure and visor-like windows, but as one of the few catamarans at the event. Designed by the Singapore-based Royal Falcon Fleet with the F.A Porsche Design Studio , Royal Falcon One is a futuristic-looking entertainer, with a sundeck featuring a Jacuzzi spa tub with cushioned sun pads and an exterior lounge aft on the main deck. She has three bars on board and generous spaces for post-race parties.

Royal Falcon One is available for charter with Fraser with a weekly rate of €195,000.

What It Costs To Moor A Superyacht At The Monaco Grand Prix

Forget the F1 – booking a berth is the real race...

What It Costs To Moor A Superyacht At The Monaco Grand Prix

Image: Gareth Harford

Monaco. The billionaire’s playground. The kleptomaniac’s kryptonite. The ludomaniac’s lair. Superyacht city. Monaco is known as a fabulous place to spend money like wild (and to strut on a treadmill on the deck of your superyacht , whilst watching the F1).

Speaking of which, you might be interested to know how much it costs to moor a superyacht in Monaco during the Monaco Grand Prix. To answer this burning question, DMARGE spoke to Istanbul-based luxury yacht manager Candaş Balci.

Balci told us just to book a fairly average berth in Monaco “for F1 week” was around 30 thousand euros “for a 35-meter motoryacht for a place which had no view of track but inside the port.”

Balci explained: “There are different parts in the marina which have different rates depending on where the yacht will be.”

yachts at monaco grand prix

“If it sees the track or not, price changes as well,” Bali told us.

“The berths which directly see the track were around 50-100K euro for the week, which is almost their yearly berth fee in a normal marina.” Candas Balci

Browsing through Reddit’s F1 Technical page, one user posts a link to a photo which purports to give a list of Monaco’s pricing for 2019. The prices which appear in the photo seem more or less consistent with the pricing Balci gave DMARGE.

Another Reddit user said: “My old landlord used to work on super yachts and also happened to introduce me to f1 so I can at least give you an anecdotal response. He said to rent the slip during the race week was around 100k and there was usually a 20k ‘offering to the port master’ as a separate transaction. He called it a bribe but I’m not sure it’s fair for me to use his characterization.”

RELATED: Hotel Staff Reveal The Wildest Rich Person Requests They’ve Ever Received

Forbes also wrote about this topic a number of years back. They reported: “To moor in one of the world’s most expensive marinas during high season, a superyacht owner can be expected to pay up to $4,130 per night, and during prime time events such as the Monaco Grand Prix rates can skyrocket to $100,000 or more for a five-day stay in Monaco’s prime berths.”

Monaco’s Port Hercules has 700 berths. Ac cording to 212 Yachts , “During the Monaco Grand Prix, the port is filled to capacity, with berths booked well in advance of the event.”

212 Yachts also says that to get yourelf a berth you need to complete a port application form. This is a highly competetive process.

“For the best chance of a successful application, it is essential to submit this form as early as possible,” 212 Yachts states.

“In order to do this, you must first select your charter yacht as technical details of the vessel must be specified on the form. Those directly associated with the Formula One, the Monaco Grand Prix and the event sponsors are fast tracked in the process, contributing to the extremely competitive nature of this process,” ( 212 Yachts ).

There you have it: you can add knowing how much it costs to moor a superyacht in Monaco to your list of superyacht knowledge (which should also include knowing what it costs to spend a week on a superyacht in the medditeranean and why travelling around Europe on a superyacht is more stressful than you think ).

By Katie Scott   24 May 2024

Putting the pedal to the metal, the fast and furious Monaco Grand Prix returns to the streets of Monte Carlo on one of the toughest courses of the Formula One calendar. One of the biggest social events of the year for visiting Mediterranean yacht charters , the Circuit de Monaco draws crowds in their thousands, plus a glistening array of superyacht charters .

An adrenaline-fueled 77-lap race with intrinsic chicanes and hairpins, Circuit de Monaco is one of the ultimate tests for participating Formula One racers, battling for their place on the coveted podium. Being just one of the very few courses to feature trackside berths, visiting Monaco yacht charters can offer a completely immersive experience just meters away from the action.

Kismet Superyacht

The latest Kismet will make its public debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in late September. For now, it’s chartering in the Med, either with owner Shahid Khan or with guests willing to pay about $3.25 million per week.

The current 400-foot Kismet is a supersized, more refined version of the last vessel, with the same features and even more extravagance, including an underwater Nemo lounge (a bubble in the bottom of the hull for seeing marine life) beneath the cinema, a duplex owner’s suite, a Balinese-inspired spa, and a retro, neon dance floor. Oh, and the jaguar on the bow is permanent this time.

The boat, which accommodates up to 12 guests in 8 staterooms, has a crew of 37. But for social events, it can hold dozens of people, including dining options for 24 on the upper deck, 18 on the main deck and 14 on both the top and pool decks.

Superyacht Kismet Balinese spa.

It’s the third boat for Khan by Lürssen, which builds the world’s largest superyachts. “The yacht has exceeded all expectations of the client,” noted Peter Lürssen, the firm’s managing partner.

Beyond the amenities, including a DJ station, a custom Boganyi grand piano, a teppanyaki cooking station, and many others, it has a hybrid diesel-electric power train. That hybrid system makes it one of the world’s largest vessels that can go into full-electric mode in eco-sensitive areas, while also having features like a heat-recovery system for heating the pools.

Kismet's forward helipad converts into a basketball court.

Last year, Khan was supposed to meet with journalists at Monaco to discuss Kismet and his career as a yacht owner, but the then- Kismet (renamed Whisper ) sold just before the show, so that never happened.

Luxury Yacht Events of the World

Chartering a luxury superyacht is the ideal way to attend and enjoy some of the world’s most highly anticipated events. What could be better than soaking up the atmosphere at high society yacht shows, regattas, sporting events and film festivals? Get close to the action so you can take in these events at your leisure. Event charters are available for business or pleasure providing a floating front row seat at many unmissable events. There are even shows which aren’t open to the public, VIP entertainment at its very best.

There are a handful of very important events in the luxury yachting calendar where superyachts are chartered to attend the event or the boating industry displays luxury yachts for sale. The Monaco Grand Prix is a unique event in the luxury yacht world where yachts are chartered as a luxurious base to see the motor racing. The Cannes Film festival is similar in that yachts are used as bases for accommodation, events and entertainment. The Monaco Yacht Show is the largest boat show for superyachts in the world. These 3 events all take place on the Cote d’ Azure region of France and Monaco in the Mediterranean where there is a great selection of yachts for charter.

Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS)

The Dubai International Boat Show is an annual event which showcases superyachts from some of the most prestigious shipyards in the region, along with internationally recognised names from across the world. It was the first event of its kind in the Middle East, UAE and GCC, and remains the largest and best attended for these regions.

In addition to displaying the latest luxury yacht models, visitors can also discover the latest tenders and water toys, learn about diving spots in the region shop for the trendiest fashions and accessories, watch live entertainment from DJs and musicians, and take part in sport such as the kingfish competition.

For industry professionals, DIBS serves as a networking event, connecting Captains, crews, charter brokers, suppliers and service companies to keep up with the latest developments. CONTINUE FOR MORE INFO & DATES  ABOUT DIBS...

The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) |   Port Hercule

Every Monaco Yacht Show is bigger and better than the last, with more luxury superyachts (for charter and sale), designers and yacht builders exhibiting than ever before.

The Monaco Yacht Show is held annually in September at Port Hercules, Monaco , and brings together professionals from the international luxury yachting sector. Companies and individuals include luxury yacht builders, brokers, designers, equipment suppliers, and service providers and they gather to show off the latest and greatest luxury yachts for sale and charter in Monaco.

The Monaco Yacht Show is the only yacht show worldwide which is exclusively devoted to superyachts of over 25 meters in length. It is the largest floating luxury yacht display in Europe of super and megayachts. This makes the Monaco Yacht Show premiere showcase for Super Yachts.

Palm Beach International Boat Show |

PBIBS draws in thousands of visitors from across the world, who use the international airport for quick and convenient connections. The show highlights some of the region's greatest vessels from American and international shipyards, both for sale and for charter around the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean. In addition to the vessels on display, there are luxury cars, lifestyle products, water toys exhibitors that give demonstrations, competitions and refreshments. VIP ticket holders also have exclusive access to the VIP lounge for cocktails and gourmet tasting sessions throughout every day of the event.

Monaco Grand Prix |

The Monaco Grand Prix has been held annually since 1929, in the Principality of Monaco. It is a Formula One race which is considered to be one of the most important and prestigious races anywhere in the world.

The Grand Prix race uses the actual city streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine, which are specially prepared in advance. The cars race down right past the moored super yachts in Monaco harbour. The narrow course is made up of several tight corners, elevation shifts making it the most dangerous and demanding track still used for Formula One motor racing.

The Cannes Film Festival |

The Cannes Film Festival , which takes place in Cannes , France, around May every year, is the most famous film festival in the world. This is the one hotspot event of the world where film stars and the rich and famous congregate around beautiful luxury yachts. It is also the only one where private charter yachts serve as luxury accommodation, floating offices and entertainment and party centers.

Normally a luxury yacht will berth right in the inner harbour, along side the Palais des Festivals Cannes, without leaving its berth - although berths are at a premium for the event and authority is required from the port many months in advance. At the old port the sheer size and number of yachts, in such close proximity, makes the port of Cannes seem like a hotel for luxury yachts. This is where many of the VIPs stay and many of the private parties and private deals take place.

Experience the ultimate Cannes Film Festival accommodation aboard your own staffed luxury yacht. Ideal for either private individuals to corporate or large groups. Relax in the very proximate Cannes harbour and enjoy the finest wine food and service.

Singapore Yacht Show  |

The Singapore Yacht Show is Asia’s leading yacht and luxury show - the only one fully supported by the global yachting industry and the Singapore Tourism Board. It provides nautical lifestyle seekers with an unrivalled opportunity to discover some of the world's finest superyachts and boating brands in an elite and highly social setting. Held at the award-winning ONE°15 Marina in Sentosa Cove, this globally-recognised on-water exhibition epitomises luxury lifestyle and brings together the biggest number of world-class yachts in the whole of Asia, consistently showcasing more regional premieres than any other event in the region. Glamorous parties, high-end entertaining, and an enviable range of prestige products and brands – supercars, fine dining, high fashion, art and beautiful timepieces - make the Singapore Yacht Show a firm fixture in the region’s social calendar.

The America's Cup |

The America's Cup is an exciting yacht racing event. See more details and the dates for the next event by clicking the link provided here: AMERICA'S CUP .  Always an important event in the yachting calendar, The America's Cup attracts a flotilla of luxury yachts which are used as platforms to see the racing and to host entertainment functions.

Please contact a friendly CharterWorld yacht consultant if you would like more information about any of the above events or would like to view a  yacht.

16 Things To Know Before Going To Monaco

  • Key takeaways:
  • Monaco's lack of personal income tax attracts high-net-worth individuals, making it a haven for the wealthy.
  • Monaco has an excellent public transport system, including buses and a scenic railway, making it easy to navigate.
  • Gambling is a big part of Monaco's allure, with the famous Casino de Monte-Carlo being a must-visit attraction.

Playground to the rich and famous, Monaco is enigmatic to many foreigners and reportedly the world's richest country . Appearing as a sea of casinos, five-star resorts, and expensive yachts, the microstate seems almost like a theme park based on all things opulent and lavish. It certainly seems too extravagant for mere mortals to visit.

Even though a sizeable chunk of the local population is made of millionaires, one doesn’t have to be extremely wealthy or famous to visit Monaco . Anybody can go and have a total ball - they just have to know a few travel tips before you go! Keep reading to find out what they are.

UPDATE: 2023/10/15 21:31 EST BY LUANA FERREIRA

Everything You Should Know About Visiting Monaco

One can never know so much about a place before visiting. Despite its small size, Monaco is a unique place, so this list has been updated to include more things about the microstate.

RELATED: Why La Rochelle On The West Coast Of France Should Be On Everyone's Holiday List No Income Tax

Monaco's most distinctive feature is its lack of personal income tax. This fiscal policy has attracted individuals seeking tax advantages, making it a haven for high-net-worth individuals. Residents of Monaco enjoy the benefits of retaining a more significant portion of their income.

This unique tax status, luxurious lifestyle, and picturesque setting make Monaco an enticing destination for those seeking financial advantages without compromising on quality of life. However, it's important to note that the absence of income tax is just one facet of Monaco's broader tax and financial regulations, which may vary depending on individual circumstances.

  • The average annual income of Monaco's residents is $186,080

Excellent Public Transport

Travelers don't need to worry about spending a lot on taxis when in Monaco, as it has an excellent transport system that is efficient and well-connected. Locals and tourists can rely on buses and a scenic railway.

The buses cover the entire principality, making it easy to navigate the compact city-state. The railway connects Monaco with neighboring French towns, providing picturesque views of the Mediterranean coastline.

The city's small size allows walking between many attractions. While taxis are readily available, well-planned public transport offers a cost-effective, eco-friendly alternative.

Yes, You Can Gamble

This is the first thing that everyone wants to know about Monaco. Because gambling is illegal in so many countries, Monaco can seem like a totally different world. The Casino de Monte-Carlo is one of the most famous in the world and is worth visiting even if you don’t want to gamble at all. Remember, this is the very same casino that James Bond often visits!

While it’s not mandatory that you gamble, there will be a lot of wealthy people at this casino who will expect you to either join in or get out of the way.

  • Where to Go: Casino de Monte-Carlo, Casino Café de Paris , Place du Casino

Tipping Is Not Mandatory

In a luxurious destination like Monaco, you would think that tipping would be not only compulsory but at an all-time high rate. But in reality, tipping isn’t mandatory in Monaco. Servers and staff tend to be very relaxed, and in most cases, it will be up to you as to whether or not you would like to leave a tip . Remember that hotel service (and most service charges) will already be included in your final bill.

If one wants to leave a tip for exceptional service, around 10 percent is considered to be appropriate. But there won’t be hard feelings if they don’t!

Stay Away During The Grand Prix

It’s one thing to specifically visit Monaco so you can attend the Grand Prix. But it’s another to unwittingly plan your vacation at the same time as this famous race is on, not realizing that everything is a hundred times more hectic in Monaco during the Grand Prix.

Many of the main streets will be closed off during the race. Not only that, but there will be far bigger crowds to contend with, and the whole place will seem much more confusing. You’re better off visiting outside the month of May when the race normally takes place.

  • Grand Prix 2024: Thu 23 May - Sun 26 May

Be Prepared To Pay A Lot

One of the most important things to know about Monaco is that it’s not the sort of destination you go to if you’re looking to save money. There are plenty of locations around the world that are cheap as chips, but Monaco isn’t one of them . Around 32 percent of the local population are millionaires. Just let that sink in. Monaco is expensive to visit .

Most hotels and restaurants will charge much more than one is probably used to pay, even by European standards. There are free things to do in the country, but in general, one should be prepared for some large bills.

It’s Really Small But Heavily Populated

Before traveling to Monaco, it’s a good idea to become familiar with how big the country actually is: Only two square kilometers. To put it into perspective, there is only one country in the whole world that is smaller than Monaco, and that’s Vatican City which is contained within Rome .

Even though Monaco is super small, it is the world’s most densely populated country, with a total population size of around 37,800. Add on the flocks of tourists, and it can get crowded. Avoid traveling in the summer months and in May during the Grand Prix if you prefer fewer crowds.

  • Monaco population: 36,686

You’ll Be Walking Everywhere

Given that Monaco is such a small country, it should come as no surprise that the most common way to get around is to walk . This isn’t as easy as it sounds since the landscape is quite hilly. But still, other than catching the city bus or a boat, it’s often the only option you’ll have. There are taxis, but they tend to charge incredibly steep prices.

The city bus can be a cost-effective way of getting around that doesn’t challenge your body so much. But if the weather permits, walking will allow people to properly absorb the wonderful surrounding scenery.

Visit During The Warmer Months

Although you might want to stay away between June and August if you don’t like crowds, the warmer months are the best time to visit Monaco. That’s why it’s so popular, then! And with its beaches and resorts, Monaco does tend to be a typical summer vacation. If you travel to Monaco in the winter, be prepared for cold temperatures.

To avoid the cold and crowds, the best option is to visit in early May before the Grand Prix or in September and October, when the weather is still balmy.

There’s A Dress Code

Monaco is in the Mediterranean, so you’ll find that many locals have that relaxed Mediterranean attitude toward life. But at the same time, it’s one of the most prestigious places you can visit. According to Going Somewhere Soon , there is a dress code to abide by. The main thing to remember is that you can’t wear beach clothes around the town, even if you’ve just visited the beach.

Classier establishments will also have specific rules about what one can wear, so it’s always better to check before you go. Generally, make sure you’re not barefoot and are at least wearing a shirt! It's good to remember that other countries also have strict dressing codes .

Understand That Monaco Is Not France

A lot of travelers get confused between Monaco and France. It’s easy to assume that Monaco is just another region of France, considering the close proximity between France and Monaco. There’s also the fact that the majority of people speak French. But if you want to leave the best impression on the locals, don’t make the mistake of saying (out loud) that Monaco is part of France.

Monaco is an entirely separate country. It has its own language (although French is widely spoken), and locals may be a little miffed to hear that you don’t recognize their country as an individual territory.

Bring Your ID With You

As a rule of thumb, bring your identification with you when you’re out and about in Monaco. This can be a driver’s license or a passport. The main reason for this is that different rules apply to locals and foreigners in Monaco. The most well-known is that foreigners are allowed to gamble, but locals aren’t . They aren’t even allowed to set foot in the casinos.

So if travelers can’t produce an ID to show that they’re not a local, they probably won’t be allowed in the casino. And for many people, this is the major highlight of traveling to Monaco!

Monaco On A Budget Isn't Impossible

Admittedly, Monaco isn't the easiest place to be thrifty with money. That said, it's not impossible to go to Monaco on a reasonable budget. Visitors who can look past the grandeur of luxury five-star hotels will find that there are budget hotels and even hostels scattered around the city-state.

Because Monaco is walkable, commuting costs are next to none. Plus, Monaco may have extravagant restaurants that dish out flavors of the rich, but it also has plenty of food markets that serve freshly caught seafood on the cheap every day of the week.

  • Travelers can expect to spend approximately €211 ($221) per day when in Monaco .

Driving Isn't The Best Idea

Tempted to take your own sports car out for a spin after watching Lamborghinis and Ferraris zip away on the streets of Monaco? Think again! Although luxury sports cars are easily available for rent -- as are other non-sports cars -- driving in Monaco is not as flashy as it may seem.

The small city-state can easily get congested, and its many tunnels and overpasses can make driving in Monaco an extremely tight and anxiety-inducing experience.

Street parking is practically non-existent, so unless you plan to center your Monaco adventures exclusively around places that offer valet parking, driving is probably not the best idea.

There's Much To Do Besides Gamble In The Casinos

Casinos may be the highlight of Monaco, but it's not the only thing that's worth checking out. Monaco is also the land of museums, breezy gardens, and marvelous architecture. The Oceanographic Museum, for example, is over 100 years old and has one of the world's oldest aquariums overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Nearly a fifth of Monaco is occupied by lush gardens and parks. Plus, the cathedrals and chapels of Monaco are proof that opulent architecture isn't just limited to luxury hotels; it's everywhere in Monaco.

Can't Find A Flight To Monaco? That's Because There Is No Airport

Monaco is one of only five countries in the world to not have an airport which makes sense considering how small the city-state is. So how exactly do you get to Monaco, then? The closest airport to Monaco is the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport in France, some thirty-odd kilometers away.

From there, visitors have several options. For those who can afford it, helicopter services regularly run between the Nice airport and Monaco, connecting the two in under 10 minutes. As for the rest of the common folk, trains, buses, boats, and rented cars are the way to go.
