Get out of the sun for the afternoon. This cover protects the cockpit from light rain and sun without the use of bows. Awnings can also help ventilate your boat in an array of weather conditions allowing hatches and companionways to be open and covered from rain or sun. Awnings work well with dodger and bimini’s. It is easy to use, just zip the front to the dodger and insert an awning pole in the back and your done! All awnings are made using the finest outdoor fabrics such as Sunbrella and Stamoid and more.

Sail Covers

All sails should be protected from U.V. rays which, rapidly breakdown any sail cloth, taking years off the life of the sail.

  • Standard Sail Cover We provide a front zipper, vinyl protection for winches or cleats and twist snaps for easy on and off. Options of Lazy Jack cut outs if it applies to your boat.
  • Hallett Zip-Top Sail Cover Hallett Zip Top Sail covers are integrated to a lazy jack system to allow the mainsail to drop into the cover, then zip the top up and you’re done. It’s that easy! The cover is independent of the sail which allows for easy installation and taking off at the end of the season.
  • Horse Blanket The loose luff, flaked mainsail on boom Sunbrella sail cover that simply is laid and fastened.
  • Interior Luxury Foam including EZ Dry, Quality fabrics and construction will make your boat worth living on for years to come.

Winter Covers

We can build covers for any custom projects. We will work around special rigging or unique designs to bring it all together for the perfectly finished look. Also the quality and functionality of the cover is much greater than the standard blue and green polyethylene tarps. A quality winter cover is important in preserving your upholstery from rain, snow, and harmful UV rays. Now using more and more, the H2ube frame for sturdy, easy use, easy to clean covers. Sail boat enclosures. Our custom fit sail boat enclosures allow boaters to use the outdoor space in all weather and get full use of boat. This in turn can also lengthen the boating season all together allowing you to launch earlier in the spring and to stay warm on a beautiful late fall evening sail. Enclosures are designed to provide maximum visibility built with Strata Glass, Makrolon Polycarbonate or Crystal Clear glass while using Sunbrella or Stamoid for the panels.

Some of these projects include, winch covers, helm covers, mooring covers, fender covers, boom tents, wheel covers, hatch covers and much more. A BIMINI TOP

A bimini top is a free-standing boat top supported by a three or four bow frame that easily folds up and down, offering protection from the elements or full exposure to the sun. Tall enough to allow you to stand and move freely, and wide enough to cover the cockpit and seating areas of your boat, a Canvas Craft bimini cover is a popular and versatile way to offer shade and weather protection for every guest on your watercraft.

BOAT SUN TOPS & FISHING BOAT TOPS

Our custom tops attach to your windshield and are designed to cover a portion of the cockpit area while allowing stand-up clearance for any boater. They’re easy to set up, take down and store, and you can add a walk-through zipper at the middle window to create a convenient passageway to the bow. Front windows can be added for greater visibility, and additional curtains and enclosures increase your protection from the elements.

CURTAINS & ENCLOSURES

Our custom curtains and enclosures provide the best privacy, protection, visibility and comfort while you’re on the water. With the most durable, marine-grade fabric and ultra-tough clear window material (sometimes referred to as isinglass), you can rest assured that your boat provides the exact right amount of privacy and protection. Typically these curtains and enclosures zip-connect or fasten to your boat with snaps.

PERFECT FIT

Each boat canvas cover is designed for your specific boat and/or usage. This means no more flapping in the wind or pulling over on the freeway to adjust the cover. It fits perfectly, every time. All frame pockets are zippered to allow you to remove the canvas quickly and easily. All window panels in enclosures are individually removable. No raw edges appear, all fabric is heatcut to prevent fraying.

Window Vinyl for Boat Enclosures

Brands like Strataglass™, Regalite®, Crystal Clear and O’Sea® are the best choices in the industry for marine window vinyl for boat enclosures. These brands are press-polished, which is a manufacturing method of taking two layers of material and pressing them together between highly polished chrome plates. This method creates thicker polished sheet of consistently clear marine window vinyl for boat enclosures. The brand of window material we use Strataglass™ is the best in the industry and will hold up to years of use while retaining exceptional optical clarity and durability.

Bimini Tops and Enclosures

Quality bimini tops and enclosures costom made for a clean fit and professional appearance..

Each of my Bimini Tops and Enclosures are custom designed and fabricated for your boat. The pattern is made on the boat with the frame in place. This insures the best possible fit and look. "Custom marine canvas" means the canvas work is specifically designed for the details on your boat. And, just as importantly, for your needs and application. This insures a custom, clean fit, professional appearance and a quality that is rarely, if ever replicated by factory canvas products.

My Bimini tops and enclosures are based on the designs and methods developed by Mark and Deb Hood from Hood Canvas. Mark is an IFAI Certified Master Fabric Craftsman. His tops and enclosure designs and methods are renowned worldwide. This distinct design features durable custom visors forward and aft as well as "natural intersections" between the top and all curtains. This gives the entire project and incredible finished custom look with no exposed zippers or gaps between panels.

This methods takes a little more care, attention, time and material to fabricate. But honestly, it's so worth the effort when you see the final project.

My framing and all framing hardware is marine grade stainless steel. I don't use aluminum tubing or plastic fittings. Each frame is custom designed by me and fabricated in my shop. The goal is to give you the look and functionality that you want. The 1" diameter stainless tubing give strength and a nice beefy marine look that you don't find in many tops. I'll work closely with you during the framing design to make sure you get the top you want.

The key to any quality Boat Tops and Covers, Boat Tops and Enclosures, is a strong, durable frame with custom, meticulous canvas work.

I use only quality, marine grade products including lifelong Solarfix UV thread and  Sunbrella  marine fabrics. The use of marine grade, UV resistant products is paramount when it comes to the marine canvas application. Some factory or off the shelf products keep their pricing low by offering lesser quality material. While this may save in the initial cost, it inevitability results in a much shorter lifespan, poorer quality cover, poorer fit and more money in the long run.

Boat Owner Basics: What Are Full Enclosure Boat Tops?

Full enclosure boat tops play a huge role in the long-term care of boats, but aren’t always full understood by new boat owners. Read this post to learn more.

Full_Enclosure

Now that you’ve taken the leap and purchased a new or used boat, what are the next steps you should take to get it ready for use? One of the most common and essential additions to a boat is an enclosure for the cockpit.

A full enclosure boat top creates a protected space on the deck of your watercraft. Which can be either fully or partially enclosed. All enclosures start with rigid frame, often steel, which supports the rest of the structure.  No matter what style of enclosure you end up choosing for your boat, it’s important to start with the right materials.

The next layer of a full enclosure top is generally a textile canopy stretched over the frame, however many people choose to incorporate transparent panels to extend their view to the sides and rear. These windows are made from specialty fabric panels made from materials such as pressed vinyl sheets, which combine the transparency of glass with the light weight, flexibility, and durability of plastics.

So, why would you want or need a full enclosure?  Here’s a quick list of what a full enclosure boat top is for:

  • Weather Protection : A full enclosure boat top protects you from the rain and wind, and can keep you warm and dry while you’re out sailing or at the dock.
  • Water & Seaspray Protection : Just because the weather is nice doesn’t mean that you won’t get wet if you’re moving quickly enough. A full enclosure boat top can offer you complete protection from any spray that might come your way.
  • UV Ray Protection : Most full enclosure boat tops and vinyl enclosure windows are designed to be UV ray resistant; you don’t want to damage your skin while you’re enjoying the sea.
  • Aesthetics : Adding an enclosure is also a great way to spruce up the look of your boat. You can use a combination of colors and styles to create a boat top that catches the eye and sets you apart from the fleet.

Remember, a full enclosure boat top window also needs to be cleaned and cared for like any other part of your boat. With some routine maintenance, your enclosure should keep you warm and dry for years to come.

I am attempting to get some cost I formation on a cockpit enclosure for a Catalina 400. I am looking at a boat that will need the Bimini replaced and figured to go full enclosure but not sure of the cost estimates.

Ross

Buying everyone high quality foul weather gear may be less costly.

Kings Gambit

Kings Gambit

Bimini and spray dodger alone probably close to $4,500, if not higher.

I have a complete enclosure I purchased 7 years ago. Cost was around $3000. Exclusive of dodger. Best $3k I ever spent. My advice is don't try to cut corners.

Top notch enclosure might even go as high as 6 grand for a VERY nice one, grab rails, pockets, custom, etc..

Make it yourself Buy a machine and start learning how to sew. Did it 3 times to get it right. Total cost about $1500. Use the best material money can buy: canvas material for convertible cars, DOT certified glass for cars that's certified not to cloud (Kal-glass), biggest zipper and top notch hardware. Fully free standing with no webbing to get in the way. In the near future, I'll do the enclosure.

When we had the complete enclosure done on our IP 38 they built Sunbrella covers to go over the isinglass when visiblilty was not required. When we would leave the boat we zipped in the covers. It really extends the life of the glass. You might also think about having lea cloths made for the cockpit sides. It made for a much drier cockpit in a good blow. Ray

In MD 3 years ago on a Hunter 40.5 Bimini, Dodger, full enclosure, and rear, aft side and front outboard panels with screens, about 10K.

20140721_111046.jpg

Motor sailing at night, fully enclosed, no station wagon effect, Cabin heat on, it surprised me how much quieter it went in the cockpit. Later on I closed the companionway, since no windshield effect, just a light sweater will keep you warm. A full enclosure is an expensive, but very nice option.
