Hinckley Portsmouth is a fully certified Yamaha and Mercury Marine dealership for outboards, and Cummins, Yanmar, Volvo (marine diesels and IPS), Westerbeke, Caterpillar, and all major marine inboard diesel engines. Boat Storage

Hinckley Portsmouth is RI’s largest boatyard. With our waterfront acreage and 196,000 square feet of indoor boat storage, Hinckley will make sure your boat is secure and dry for the winter storage season. On our 15 acres we have room to store 450 boats, all of which are professionally shrink-wrapped with or without access door. Hinckley provides more indoor boat storage than any boatyard in the area. For boat storage, all the options are available for all makes and models at Hinckley Portsmouth. Hinckley’s Portsmouth marina also has boat slips available in the heart of America’s favorite cruising grounds. Deep water slips for yachts up to 180’. Richard Pims

Capt. Richard Pims also doubles up as an amazing Chef on board Northern Star. Richard was born in Queens, New York and grew up in New Jersey, not far from the shore. He attended Johnson & Wales University studying Culinary Arts. As a young child he loved all sports, games and pastimes, especially hockey, golf, hiking, climbing, fishing and sailing. Richard soon became hooked on sailing. From a very young age he would sail with family and friends, and then he regularly sailed with an uncle throughout the rest of his childhood. Having qualified with a bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts and Related Services at University Richard went on to work as a Chef in some of the finest restaurants in New York and as a result brings a high level of sophistication to all aspects on onboard yacht hospitality, particularly by preparing world class meals onboard for charter guests. Richard says he is very comfortable with silver service dining, due to his culinary background, but he is very adaptable to more casual dining usually enjoyed on board a sailing yacht. From a Captain's perspective he really enjoys to see guests active and getting involved with sailing during the charter, as well as other adventures by water or on land. His favourite yachting destination was the San Blas Islands in Panama, which is a group of untouched islands, with indigenous Indians living a traditional lifestyle. It was one of the most amazing places he's ever been, and loves that he can experience these exotic places as a Captain on a charter yacht. His motto became "Don't wait to live your dreams"! Richard enjoys spending his spare time reading, fishing, live music, tennis, scuba diving and travel. His friends describe him as Driven, Adventurous and Funny. All great characteristics for a Yacht Charter Captain - and Chef!!

Here’s an appealing alternative to boat ownership, particularly if you like to enjoy the better things in life and you like to go boating in a lot of different places: The Barton & Gray Mariners Club, which offers members the use of crewed Hinckley Yachts in 25 spots on the East Coast, the Gulf Coast, and the Great Lakes.

The major appeal of the club is that you can have all the advantages of owning a Hinckley without the disadvantages, primarily the costs of buying one, insurance, dockage and maintenance. And that’s before you add in the services of a professional captain, and moving your boat from one spot to the next.

Barton & Gray also is symbolic of the expanding experiential economy. Many people now want to spend their money, and their time, on new experiences, not necessarily on new things. The club provides the experience of using an iconic Hinckley yacht, but without any of the hassles and headaches of actually owning one.

The club has a fleet of some 30 Hinckleys – Picnic Boat Classics, Picnic Boat EPs, Talaria 40s (pictured above), and Talaria 44s – in 25 cities. Club members pay a $15,000 initiation fee and then sign up for one of four levels with rising levels of annual dues:

Ensign, $29,500 a year, with access to Picnic Boats in every harbor and an unlimited number of reservations (made two at a time).

Lieutenant, $39,500 a year, with access to every yacht in every harbor, an unlimited number of reservations (four at a time), and complimentary yacht upgrades.

Admiral, $59,000 a year, with access to every yacht in every harbor, an unlimited number of reservations (eight at a time), complimentary yacht upgrades, and out-of-season scheduling.

There’s also a Fleet Admiral level, but only two are issued each year.

The 25 ports include many of the most desirable cruising destinations in the United States. On the East Coast and Gulf Coast they include Boston, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Newport, Sag Harbor, East Hampton, Greenwich, New York City, Annapolis, Washington, D.C., Charleston, Vero Beach, Palm Beach, Miami, Key Largo, Naples, Boca Grande and Sarasota. NIGHT TRAIN is the most visually appealing model currently available on the market. Originally commissioned for Bob Hinckley she is meticulously designed for optimal performance. As the lightest displacing Hinckley 51 ever built, she ensures impressive speed on the water.

The current owner has spared no expense in maintaining and upgrading the yacht, ensuring it remains in excellent condition. NIGHT TRAIN can sleep up to 5 guests in 3 staterooms. The generous cockpit is ideally suited for cocktailing or cruising and her beautiful teak interior and ready to cruise to faraway destinations.

The well-designed interior of NIGHT TRAIN offers ample space, featuring two separate cabins, two heads, and a quarter berth. The satin-varnished cherry bulkheads and trim, gloss-varnished teak and holly sole, and white galley countertops create a refined aesthetic, complemented by the white overhead with cherry trim work. Stepping into the cabin from the cockpit, the galley is situated to starboard, immediately aft of which is the updated navigation station. Further aft, is the quarter berth to starboard.  Opposite the nav area, to port, is the owner's cabin with an ensuite head and shower. Forward is the salon, with a passage leading to the v-berth. The second head and shower are situated on the port side.

The main salon features a U-shaped dinette with a varnished cherry dining table on the port side. To starboard, there is a settee providing extra seating. Surrounding both the dinette and settee are louvered storage lockers that also house the entertainment center. On the forward starboard side, a large hanging locker stands. Overhead, a sizable hatch allows for ventilation.

Moving aft to starboard is a U-shaped galley with a large double stainless-steel sink facing forward. Outboard, there is a new (2023) gimballed Force 10 propane 3-burner stove/oven. Aft, there are separate engine-driven Sea Frost refrigerator and freezer units, both with front and top opening access. There is ample storage in the outboard lockers with louvered doors, a countertop locker outboard of the sink, and under the sink. Opposite the galley is a bureau with a work surface, two utensil drawers, mug, and glass racks above, and a trash bin below. The galley area is equipped with hot and cold pressure water, filtered drinking water, pressurized seawater, and a freshwater foot pump.

Aft of the galley, starboard is a highly capable navigation station. This station features a desk, a new GPS system, and the latest Garmin models, along with some custom enhancements for racing performance.

Aft of the nav area is the quarter berth, this cabin is ideal for a captain or children.

Opposite the nav station on the port side is a quarter cabin with ensuite head and shower. The cabin consists of a double bunk with drawers under it and a bureau and cedar-lined hanging locker outboard. 

The head is located forward through a sliding pocket door. A VacuFlush head is outboard which can be used with either fresh or salt water. Inboard is a sink and vanity, and forward is a separate stall shower.

Starting in the bow is a spacious V-berth with an insert to convert to a double bunk. A bureau, large cedar-lined hanging locker, and lockers outboard over the berth give great storage. Access to the chain locker is forward of the bunk through locker doors.

The forward head is to port and can be accessed from the forward cabin or the main salon. The head has an integrated shower, a vanity with sink, and a Jabsco head. Storage is available outboard in two lockers.

Maine bareboat charters & boat rentals – midcoast & downeast maine, charter a hinckley jet boat – the hinckley talaria.

This Hinckley Talaria 40 is outfitted for overnight stays and is available for bareboat chartering. The charter starts with an extensive briefing and training on the vessel. Captains are available for those who would like to go boating without the stress of running the boat themselves. If you want to learn about running a Hinckley Jet boat with an experienced Captain, this is a great opportunity. Some charter clients use this vessel for day trips while they reside in seaside accommodations such as the Claremont Hotel.
