Buying the best sailboats for sale.
There are so many boat options that are available out there, selecting the right one usually depends on the kind of experiences that you prefer. If you love sailing, then choosing one of the best cheap sailboats is a great option to make. You also notice that even when you narrow it down to sailing, there are still so many options that you can pick online at sailboat auctions . You may be lost and could be wondering exactly where you should start.
There are so many forums that you find online seeking to get answers for such queries. There are so many things that you should consider when you are looking for sailboats for sale. It helps to have some tips in mind so that you know what works and what does not.
Some of the questions to ask when choosing cheap sailboats
It makes sense to sit back and first ask yourself some critical questions that could affect the decisions that you make in the long run. There are so many cheap sailboats to choose from. There are small sailboats for sale and some of the largest sailboats available in the market today.
Here we look at some of the things that you should consider when taking your pick
How will the sailboat be used?
When choosing sailboats for sale by owner , you should first consider how you intend to use them. You notice that most sailors have very big dreams. As you sail, you have the great opportunity to cast your worries away and just concentrate on the water. The breeze and the calmness of the water can be therapeutic. When you are considering your needs, you need to be as honest with yourself as you possibly can. It is good to be realistic about the intentions, goals, and reality of the intentions.
Used sailboats for sale or new sailboats for sale have more to them than just equipment, construction material, style, size, and budget. If you cannot be honest about the kind of sailing plans that you have, then everything else may fail.
Are you sailing on an inland lake? Taking a weekend trip once in a while? Coastal cruising as a couple, a couple of times every year? It is not everyone who is comfortable being out on the open sea. When you determine where you fall, then you can find & buy used sailboat or new ones.
Your sailboat budget
You should be honest about the budget and how much you are willing to spare on the sailboat. This is a very important thing and it can help validate the kind of ideas that you have. When choosing used Jeanneau sailboats for sale , Beneteau sailboats for sale, or catamaran sailboats for sale , you need to be honest about the budget available.
If the budget is a bit restrictive, then it makes sense to settle for small sailboats for sale. These options are usually cheaper and can give you the kind of experience you are seeking even on protected waters. If you do not want to buy a small one, you can consider making savings and instead of hiring your ideal sailboat from people who already have them.
Type of sailboat for the use intended
If you are looking for the best small sailboats for sale near me , you will have to have an idea of the kind of boat that actually matches the use that you intend for it. If you already have some sailing experience, you may already have an idea in your mind about the kind of sailboat that you need. You may already have a list, but the above two factors have to be considered as well.
Used sailboats for sale or new sailboats for sale can be classified in a number of ways. These include the intended use, the material used for construction, rigging, keel type, and the number of hauls available.
If you want to buy used sailboat or any other sailboat you can choose the above categories and determine the type that you really need for your sailboat cruises at live sailboat auctions.
You can also pick the sailboats from specific builders like Jeanneau sailboats or Beneteau sailboats and so on.
The intention of purchasing cheap sailboats
When you are looking for small sailboats for sale or large sailboats for sale , you are actively staying alert to any deals that may be forthcoming. This is sometimes a very tricky thing to consider. There are so many boats that you find on boatyards and you can end up with one at a very low price if you want at sailboat auctions.
You can easily find & buy sailboat that may look rough but once patched up, you can sell it at a great profit. This is a great score. This is a great idea for anyone who has enough space, and skills to handle the repairs that could take up quite a bit of time. If this is not your intention, then settle for an option that has been well maintained and capable of offering you great services.
Location means everything when picking the ideal sailboat. Since 1988, National Liquidators has facilitated more than 40,000 transactions, including small recreational vessels, superyachts and cruise ships; and we maintain one of the largest inventories in the industry.
National Liquidators has led the industry with its commitment to excellence in customer service throughout the brokerage and repossession process. We partner closely with lenders, attorneys, and insurance companies to ensure our clients capture the greatest possible value for their assets, and our full-service model covers all aspects of the process from repossession and transportation through marketing and facilitation of title transfer to a new buyer.

In 1988, three partners started National Marine Liquidators (NML) as a small boat auction company in Fort Lauderdale FL. Their partnership combined talent of an automobile sales professional, a seasoned yachtsman, and an experienced/retired IT executive. Their vision was to create a sales environment designed to protect financial institutions in commercially reasonable sale. They began selling boats and yachts in a weekly sealed bid auction system. All bids were recorded through their newly developed bid tracking software which provided cutting edge and very timely reports to the selling banks.
In 1990, during the Savings and Loan crisis, NML, become the only RTC (FDIC) approved marine remarketing contractor. Bob Toney, as a contractor for the RTC himself found the NML model to be just what the industry needed and believed it should grow into a national player, not just the southeast. As the RTC project came to a close, Bob joined the National team and began taking it coast-to-coast with four sales locations. As the late 90’s came to a close, the company became National Liquidators and expanded into the remarketing of other large ticket assets. The company also moved into government contracting handling the storage, maintenance, and auction sales of seized assets. The company experienced incredible growth through the early 2000’s as the leader and most professional in this space. The recession of 2008-2011 hit all records for National. With increased regulation and scrutiny on national lending practices, the industry focus became compliance and regulation driven. Born from Bankers, Bob and the National Team quickly became the cornerstone of regulatory compliance in the industry. National remains the leader in this space and continues to offer the most professional level of service and the most aware of the banking and government regulations required to meet the needs of the industry.
In 2021, Bob made the decision to form a partnership with 2 of his long-term employees, Frank Kups and Annie Amata. The partnership will allow National Liquidators to continue to thrive within the industry it operates. The level of commitment, professionalism and knowledge will not only insure that our clients are serviced with the highest of standards but also allow the company to grow within the industry. Our number one focus is Marine. Our number one concern is you, our client.

Boat Liquidators
All you need to know about boat liquidation.
When seeking a boat for sale, you may wish to consider a boat liquidation sale. Boat liquidation auctions are the result of boats which have been repossessed by the investor, usually the financial lender, and require immediate sales in order to offset the loss that the financers would obtain if the vessel was not sold. While this is unfortunate for the original purchaser of the boat, it does offer an ideal opportunity for qualified buyers to obtain the boat of his or her dreams for a fraction of the cost. However, before you attend a boat liquidation sale there are a few things that you should know.
Boat liquidators are in the business of obtaining capital quickly for the boat which was repossessed. In many instances, the bank or the lender will not take the time to have a full inspection of the vessel, but will just ensure that the boat can operate without sinking. As such, anyone who purchases a boat from a liquidation sale should be cautious of problems with the starter, the electrical system, outboard motors, and such.
Repo boats are sold as-is. This means that there are no warranty or guarantees to the boats. It is a coin toss that plays to the gambler nature and the deal seeker side of the business. This is not to state that liquidations are a bad thing, but rather that the purchaser should note that the reason that the boat is discounted is to avoid having to pay for inspections and (depending upon the repo company you choose) sea tests.
What is the history of the boat?
It is critical that when you go to a liquidation sale that you ask the seller about the history of the boat. Sometimes, not often, boats at repo sales will be police repossessions of stolen and stripped boats. While there may be an effort to spruce up the boat, there could be vital elements missing. Additionally, if a dealership is selling a boat as liquidation, the potential buyer should inquire as to the history of the boat. Has the boat been dry docked for a long time? Has the boat been wrecked? How many miles does the engine have upon it? All these questions should be asked prior to purchasing the vessel.
Just a little bit of work
Your inquiries into the boat’s history may yield the answer that the boat for sale needs minimal handyman work. Be cautious. While there could only be some minor cost involved in the “fix-up” process, the boat is being sold as-is and the repairs could become substantial. Think of it in terms of doing a rebuild on a house. There are always hidden costs, unforeseen problems, and fees that are not calculated in. Additionally, if you are purchasing an older model boat liquidation, parts may not be available or may be rather pricy, depending upon the model.
The Good side to boat liquidators
Not all boat liquidators are bad. There are many instances where you will be able to find a great deal on a boat through an auction or a repossession. It is advised that you choose a boat from a creditable source, and that you perform due diligence in inspecting the boat. Should you wish to find a liquidator in Florida, there are a few to choose from. These are:
- Marine Connection Liquidators
- National Liquidators
- South Shore Liquidators
- Marine Surplus
- Global Marine Boats
Keep in mind that banks are apt to have private auctions and local liquidation sales. Check your classified ads for upcoming events and details.
