Ghost Perform Live Debut of ‘Bible’ With Swedish Choir + The Great Discord’s Fia Kempe

Ghost just treated fans in Stockholm to the live debut of “Bible.” The Imperiet cover is Ghost’s closing track on their acclaimed Popestar EP and the live debut featured a full-on choir along with Fia Kempe from The Great Discord.

The Popestar EP’s shining track was “Square Hammer,” which immediately became a fan favorite. We even named it the Best Metal Song of 2016. However, amongst the cover songs on Popestar , “Bible” stood out to us as the most grandiose and lush piece, further embellishing Ghost’s Satanic cult concept through the use of religious music.

Ghost’s fans in their home country of Sweden were given the song as a surprise encore, which may end up as a one-night-only occurrence, seeing as Ghost didn’t repeat the feat in Finland two nights later. The choir brought some welcomed life to the ‘80s new wave cover, as did Fia Kempe, who recorded backing vocals for “Bible” on the Popestar EP. Kempe was in full makeup, so the Swedish musician wasn’t hard to spot.

Papa Emeritus III recently made a guest appearance himself, joining Kreator for a German TV performance of “ Satan is Real .” Check out some fan-shot footage of Ghost performing “Bible” in the video above!

Galatians 5:16-23 New Living Translation

Living by the spirit’s power.

16  So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17  The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18  But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

19  When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20  idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21  envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22  But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23  gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

What Does the Bible Say about Ghosts?

Becoming involved with the paranormal is not encouraged for Christians. God warns us about not seeking out mediums or necromancers. Believers need to flee from any fascination with ghosts as the ghosts are only demons.

What Does the Bible Say about Ghosts?

Are ghosts are? Many question this throughout the year as they think about their loved ones who have passed away or especially during Halloween time when many more people are interested in what the Bible has to say about ghosts. While the media portrays ghosts as being dead people who come back to haunt friends, family, and enemies, what can we know is really the truth about ghosts?

Sometimes, the film industry even portrays ghosts as being friendly as in the case of Casper.  Nonetheless, what does the Bible say about ghosts? Are they real? Can dead loved ones really come back to haunt us?

Ghosts in the Bible

The Bible is clear that once a person dies, they cannot return from the dead. The author of Hebrew tells us each person is destined to die once and then to stand before God ( Hebrews 9:27 ). A person does not get to choose whether they are going to return to haunt the people of their earthly life. When a person dies, they are immediately before God ( Ecclesiastes 12:7 ).

Depending on whether or not they accepted Jesus will determine if they go to Heaven or hell. All individuals who have placed faith in Jesus will go to Heaven; however, all of the people who have not accepted Jesus will go to hell. Each person will either go to one or the other. There is not a third option to return to the earth and complete “unfinished business.”

Many people still report seeing dead loved ones or experiencing the paranormal activity of a haunting in their home. How can one explain this? There are no such things as ghosts, but there are demons . What people report as being ghosts are actually demons.

Demons are known to masquerade themselves in an attempt to fool people. In 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 , Paul tells us, “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”

Since demons can masquerade as angels of light, it is completely possible that they can make themselves look like dead loved ones. Believers need to be aware of this as demons will try to trick us in any way they can. This is where many Christians can become confused about ghosts.

If you believe you have experienced the ghost of a dead loved one, it was not your deceased loved one. If your deceased loved one is a believer, then they are with Jesus in Heaven. The “dead loved one” you would have seen was a demon.

What Does the Bible Say about Spiritual Beings?

Demons are spiritual beings. The Bible does attest to the fact that there are spiritual beings. In addition to demons, the other spiritual beings are angels. Since demons and angels do not have physical bodies, they are spiritual beings.

The main difference here is that angels are good, but demons are bad. Angels help believers and protect them. The Bible tells us angels are ministering spirits sent out to help believers ( Hebrews 1:14 ). In contrast, demons seek out mankind’s downfall.

What Is the Paranormal?

Becoming involved with the paranormal is not encouraged for Christians. God warns us about not seeking out mediums or necromancers ( Leviticus 19:31 ). Believers need to flee from any fascination with ghosts as the ghosts are only demons.

Paul warns all people that you cannot have a seat at God’s table and the table of demons ( 1 Corinthians 10:21 ). Satan and his demons want to cause your downfall. They want to scare, harm, and hurt you ( John 10:10 ).

Becoming involved with ghosts can cause bad things to happen to you. God is more powerful than the devil and his demons, but we should never test the Lord ( Deuteronomy 6:16 ; Matthew 4:7 ). The Lord wants you to live in the freedom, love, and joy of knowing Him. God’s plan for you does not involve becoming involved with demons, mediums, or the occult.

Demons can be extremely convincing and can easily lead a person astray. As believers, we do not have to fall victim to their tricks. The One who is in us is greater than the devil and his demons ( 1 John 4:4 ). The Holy Spirit will keep you safe from demons, but we also have to use our own knowledge to abstain from the paranormal.

After the death of a loved one, we can be particularly vulnerable to the attacks of demons. Demons have been around for a long time, so they can accurately predict human behaviors. If demons know that a loved one has passed, they may try to deceive you with visions, dreams, or encounters with your loved one.

Should Christians Really Give Up All Their Possessions?

Should Christians Really Give Up All Their Possessions?

Even in the difficult times of losing a loved one, you still must stand your ground against Satan and his schemes ( Ephesians 6:10-18 ). As a follower of Jesus, you do not have to fall victim to Satan and his demons’ tricks. Lean on God, talk with Him, and pour out your sorrow to Him ( Matthew 11:28-30 ).

Jesus knows what it feels like to lose a loved one. He wept when His friend Lazarus died ( John 11:35 ). When a loved one passes away, turn to God. Do not run after ghost-hunters or contact a medium to try to communicate with dead loved ones ( Deuteronomy 18:10-13 ).

When Jesus rose from the dead, His disciples thought He was a ghost ( Luke 24:36 ). Jesus did not tell His disciples, “Yes, I am a ghost. Dead people can come back from the dead and visit their friends and families.”

What Jesus actually said was, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have” ( Luke 24:38-39 ).

Some people believe that Jesus affirms the existence of ghosts by His statement in Luke 24:39 ; however, He is not affirming the existence of ghosts. The more correct word that should be used here is “spirit” rather than ghost.

Jesus was showing His disciples that He has truly physically risen from the dead. He was not a spirit — He was the resurrected Lord. Jesus came back from the dead because He is God. Nobody else has ever come back from the dead because mankind cannot rise from the dead.

Why Does This Matter?

Ghosts are not real; however, demons are real. Demons want to trick you in any way possible. Therefore, it is essential that all believers abstain from the paranormal and abstain from a fascination with ghosts.

You will see your loved one again if they are a believer. There is no need to try to seek out the dead while you are here on earth because you will not be communicating to your loved one or a “ghost.” Rather, you will be communicating with a demon.

3. Hebrews 9:27 “And just as it is destined that men die only once, and after that comes judgment.”

4. Matthew 25:46 “These people will go away into eternal punishment , but the righteous will go into eternal life .”

5. Ecclesiastes 12:7 “Then man’s dust will go back to the earth , returning to what it was, and the spirit will return to the God who gave it.”

Ghost stories in the Bible

We always hear about those stories that have to do with hauntings. People come back for revenge to claim their house, but what does Scripture say?

6. Psalm 146:4 “For his spirit goes out and he returns to his earth and in that day all his thoughts are destroyed.”

Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 “For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten. Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun.” – ( Jealousy in the Bible )

Another name for Satan is the deceiver.

He seeks to deceive as many people as he can and of course demons do the same thing. You may hear about people going to psychics  and talking to dead family member, but once again those are just demons impersonating the deceased and deceiving people.

All the different ghostly activities, ghost stories, haunted mansions, etc. are all the work of demons. Watch out for people like ghost hunters who try to profit off of this.

8. 2 Corinthians 2:11 “I have done this so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his schemes.”

9. 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light . Therefore it is not surprising his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousnes s, whose end will correspond to their actions.”

10. John 10:10 “ A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy . I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.”

11. Ephesians 6:11 “ Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

There are some people that might say, “didn’t Saul talk to Samuel’s ghost?”

Notice that the figure did not come from Heaven. It came from out of the earth. Notice that the figure was not joyful and notice that Saul’s face was down. Scripture teaches that the dead can’t come back.

12. 1 Samuel 28:13-15 “The king said to her, “Do not be afraid; but what do you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “ I see a divine being coming up out of the earth .” He said to her, “What is his form?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped with a robe.” And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and did homage . Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” And Saul answered, “I am greatly distressed; for the Philistines are waging war against me, and God has departed from me and no longer answers me, either through prophets or by dreams; therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I should do.”

There are evil spirits/fallen angels in this world.

13. Revelation 12:9 “And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.”

14. Matthew 10:1 “And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.”

Can ghosts harm christians?

You don’t have to be afraid because they can’t harm Christians we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us. Believers are protected.

15. 1 John 4:4 “You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, becaus e the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

16. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee .”

17. 1 John 5:18 “We know that everyone who has been born of God does not sin, but the One who is born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.”

Indulging in demonic activities

But that does not mean we are free to indulge in demonic activity such as black magic . We are not to seek evil. It is a sin and it will harm you.

18. James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

19. Ephesians 4:27 “And do not give the devil an opportunity.”

20. Leviticus 19:31 “ Do not turn to mediums or consult spiritists, or you will be defiled by them; I am Yahweh your God.”

21. Deuteronomy 18:10-11 “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.”

Jesus did not believe in ghosts

22. Luke 24:37-39 “They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

"Do you believe in ghosts?"

Most of us heard that question when we were children, especially around Halloween , but as adults, we don't give it much thought.

Do Christians Believe in Ghosts?

Are there ghosts in the Bible? The term itself appears, but what it means can be confusing. In this brief study, we'll look at what the Bible says about ghosts, and what conclusions we can draw from our Christian beliefs .

Where Are Ghosts in the Bible?

Jesus ' disciples were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee, but he was not with them. Matthew tells us what happened:

Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage ! It is I. Don't be afraid." (Matthew 14:25-27, NIV )

Mark and Luke report the same incident. The Gospel writers give no explanation of the word ghost. It's interesting to note that the King James Version of the Bible, published in 1611, uses the term "spirit" in this passage, but when the New King James Version came out in 1982, it translated the term back to "ghost." Most other later translations, including the NIV, ESV , NASB, Amplified, Message, and Good News use the word ghost in this verse.

After his resurrection , Jesus appeared to his disciples. Again they were terrified:

They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have." (Luke 24:37-39, NIV)

Jesus did not believe in ghosts; he knew the truth, but his superstitious apostles had bought into that folk tale. When they encountered something they couldn't understand, they immediately assumed it was a ghost.

The matter is further blurred when, in some older translations, "ghost" is used instead of "spirit." The King James Version refers to the Holy Ghost , and in John 19:30 says,

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

The New King James Version translates ghost to spirit, including all references to the Holy Spirit .

Samuel, a Ghost, or Something Else?

Something ghostly did turn up in an incident described in 1 Samuel 28:7-20. King Saul was preparing to do battle against the Philistines, but the LORD had departed from him. Saul wanted to get a prediction on the outcome of the battle, so he consulted a medium, the witch of Endor. He ordered her to call up the spirit of Samuel the prophet .

A "ghostly figure" of an old man appeared, and the medium was startled. The figure scolded Saul, then told him he would lose not only the battle but also his life and the lives of his sons.

Scholars are split over what the apparition was. Some say it was a demon , a fallen angel , impersonating Samuel. They note that it came up out of the earth instead of down from heaven and that Saul did not actually look at it. Saul had his face to the ground. Other experts feel God intervened and did cause Samuel's spirit to manifest itself to Saul.

The book of Isaiah mentions ghosts twice. Spirits of the dead are prophesied to greet the king of Babylon in hell:

The realm of the dead below is all astir to meet you at your coming; it rouses the spirits of the departed to greet you—all those who were leaders in the world; it makes them rise from their thrones—all those who were kings over the nations. ( Isaiah 14:9, NIV)

And in Isaiah 29:4, the prophet warns the people of Jerusalem of an oncoming attack from the enemy, all the while knowing his warning will not be heeded:

Brought low, you will speak from the ground; your speech will mumble out of the dust. Your voice will come ghostlike from the earth; out of the dust your speech will whisper. (NIV)

The Truth About Ghosts in the Bible

To put the ghost controversy in perspective, it's important to understand the Bible's teaching on life after death . Scripture says when people die, their spirit and soul immediately go to heaven or hell. We do not wander about the earth:

Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8, NLT )

So-called ghosts are demons posing as dead people. Satan and his followers are liars, intent on spreading confusion, fear, and distrust of God. If they can convince mediums, like the woman at Endor, that they actually communicate with the dead , those demons can lure many away from the true God:

...in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. (2 Corinthians 2:11, NIV)

The Bible tells us that a spiritual realm does exist, invisible to human eyes. It is populated by God and his angels, Satan, and his fallen angels, or demons. Despite the claims of unbelievers, there are no ghosts wandering about the earth, except for those you might see "trick-or-treating" on Halloween night . The spirits of deceased humans inhabit one of two places: heaven or hell.

Are Ghosts Real? 4 Things the Bible Tells Us

Dear Roger,

I have had a friend ask me a question about ghosts. They have stated that they have seen a ghost, a man who stands by a window. The ghost walks by them but does not do anything to them. They also asked if this could this be a family member who died and has returned from Heaven? Are ghosts real?  Annon

Dear Annon, Surprisingly—or, perhaps not—the Bible has a lot to say about ghosts. Let’s begin with several definitions that give us a foundation from which we can work.

Bible Definition of a Ghost

A ghost may be defined as   "the spirit of a dead person, especially one believed to appear in bodily likeness to living persons or to haunt former habitats."

A ghost may be defined as "any faint shadowy semblance; an unsubstantial image; a phantom; a glimmering; as, not a ghost of a chance."

A ghost is sometimes said to be "the apparition of a deceased person. The word ‘ ghost ’ may also refer to the spirit or soul of a deceased person, or to any spirit ..."

Ghosts in the Bible

Ghosts are encountered several times in the Word of God. In Job 4 Eliphaz, one of Job’s three argumentative “friends”, described a night-time encounter with a ghost who enforced Eliphaz’s incorrect assumption that Job’s problems resulted from his sin. Eliphaz’s night-time demonic (?) encounter makes for fascinating reading ( Job 4:12-19 ):

Several things stand out in this ghost encounter.

Second, the conclusions drawn by the apparition (ghost) were not from God.

Third, it is not beyond the realm of imagination to think that Eliphaz made up the encounter in order to give some credence to his philosophical position on sin and suffering.

Finally, under times of great stress, the brain is perfectly capable of conjuring up a seemingly very real human experience (like seeing a ghost) which, in fact, never occurred at all!

Another infamous “ghost” experience occurred with King Saul and the Witch of Endor in 1 Samuel 28:4-25   Again reading the passage is fascinating:

When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid; terror filled his heart. He inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets. Saul then said to his attendants, "Find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her."  "There is one in Endor," they said.  So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothes, and at night he and two men went to the woman. "Consult a spirit for me," he said, "and bring up for me the one I name."…  Then the woman asked, "Whom shall I bring up for you?"  "Bring up Samuel,"….T he king said to her, "Don't be afraid. What do you see?"  The woman said, "I see a spirit coming up out of the ground."  What does he look like?" he asked. " An old man wearing a robe is coming up," she said.  Then Saul knew it was Samuel, and he bowed down and prostrated himself with his face to the ground.  Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?"  "I am in great distress," Saul said. "The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do."  Samuel said, "Why do you consult me, now that the LORD has turned away from you and become your enemy? The LORD has done what he predicted through me. The LORD has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors —to David. Because you did not obey the LORD…”

Fifth, the Bible is quite clear that no one returns to earth and makes appearances after death. Jesus made this fact quite clear in Luke 16:26   In reiterating Abraham’s answer to the rich man who wanted a chance to return to earth from Hell and warn his brothers, Abraham said: “And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.” In addition, the writer to the Hebrews declared in Hebrews 9:27 that the “after-death process” includes no option for a return to earth: “Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”

Are Ghosts Real? Four Direct Conclusions from the Bible:

First, your friend may very well have seen a ghost. The ghost might appear to be a familiar spirit impersonating a departed family member.

Second, the apparition they observed is certainly not a returned-family member. Once we die, there exists no possible pathway to return to the land of the living. This fact rules out the return of a dead person as a “ghost” to haunt a house or place of their death—or wherever.

Third, the apparition could be an actual demonic manifestation. This happened to Martin Luther when he was in the process of composing his “Ninety-Five Theses” for posting on the Wittenberg Door. The Devil appeared in his room at night and Luther actually threw an ink bottle to drive him away.

Fourth, let’s consider the possibility that our minds are perfectly capable of fooling us into experiencing a ghost that doesn’t exist!

By the way, stored memories are never retrieved in the same form in which they were laid down. The “highlights” emerge relatively unscathed but the “in betweens” can vary considerably over time. Walking in scary places at night can provide all sorts of possibilities for “ghostly” encounters—especially when someone thinks he or she might actually see one. Memory of strange noises, frightful moments, mewing cats, imbedded pictures of horror movies —just to name a few stored emotional triggers—can bring up “highlights” that remind us of ghosts. Stress, tension, fear and/or expectations can cause “ghostly” highlights to emerge. It is possible for the brain to fill in a “ghost” between the recorded “highlights. Then, we actually “see” a ghost. The various parts of the brain that would be involved in actually encountering a ghost light up positive simultaneously during fMRIs.

Well, Annon, I hope this helps to give you some insight into how to respond to your friend. Share with him some of the possible explanations for what he saw--or didn't see. Gently tell him that whatever he saw was not his mother portraying a ghost. I have not seen my long-time dead child, Jesse, since we buried her. I don't expect to see her again until we meet in Heaven's glory. Nevertheless, I have much comfort when I am praying to take a moment and tell Jesse that we love and miss her and are looking forward to seeing her soon. May God bless you in loving and helping him.

Love, Roger

Terrifying footage appears to show 'ghost soldiers' running across road at Gettysburg

Terrifying footage appears to show 'ghost soldiers' running across road at Gettysburg

Some people claim that ghosts aren't real, but this video may leave you thinking otherwise.

The chilling video appears to show two apparitions running across the road at the famed Civil War battle site in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania .

The sinister footage was shot by Greg Yuelling, a store manager from New Jersey, who was visiting the historic battleground with his daughters and two of his uncles.

He said: “We just went there as tourists, to learn more about the history of the Civil War and see the old battle ground, where the Gettysburg Address was given and all that stuff.

“We were driving along one night and we started hearing noises, I heard things to the left and my uncle heard things to the right, and there was a fog, but the fog was weird, it was only in one patch not dispersed.

“Then we saw these shapes moving in the darkness, they were the size of humans, one of them ran right through the cannon."

One of the 'ghosts' was spotted walking by the cannons. Credit: SWNS

Greg went on: “It was weird, it was scary, it was crazy… my uncle got so scared he rolled up the window.

“We went back and watched the videos over and over again, and then we blew them up on the big screen to get a closer look.

"That made us even more freaked out.

"It was really exciting, but I also got this strange, ominous feeling, like something was telling me to go back back there. I couldn't go to sleep but I was creeped out, so I didn’t go."

The brutal Battle of Gettysburg was fought between Union and Confederate forces during the American Civil War in July 1863.

It is estimated that between 46,000 and 51,000 people and 5,000 horses died in the three-day bloodbath, with many more seriously wounded.

Many injured soldiers were left bleeding in agony on the battlefield while the fighting continued to rage around them.

Many more soldiers perished in makeshift triage units that had been assembled on the periphery of the site.

Greg said: “I’ve heard people say you can catch videos of ghosts around there, but we were so skeptical until that night.

“I always questioned the validity of those ghost videos you see on TV, I was always pretty disbelieving.

“I believe everything now."

The battle site has become a popular tourist attraction and has been dubbed as one of the most haunted places in America.
