Absolute Yachts Navetta 75

It’s challenging to create a yacht that looks and feels formidable yet inviting. Rugged, luxurious. But all these descriptors came to mind as I toured the Absolute Yachts Navetta 75, the Italian builder’s new Navetta-series flagship in a line with six other Navetta models starting at 48 feet length overall.

Absolute gives each new model a theme, and the Navetta 75’s is “the absolute sphere.” The idea is that a sphere represents perfect balance and harmony. Consider the yacht’s DNA: The Navetta 75 is, indeed, an exercise in balance, including its overall proportions, performance, use of glazing, and interior and exterior real estate’s form and function.

The Navetta comes in at 74 feet, 10 inches length overall with an 18-foot-5-inch beam. It carries a good bit of that beam forward, enhancing internal volume. A beneficiary of this design is the master stateroom. The space is forward on its own level with a private entrance just a few steps down from the main salon. There is 6-foot-6-inch headroom, and the stateroom is made to feel even larger with a light-oak sole and natural light passing through the hullside windows. There is a forward-facing berth, and a vanity with a work desk is to port. Forward of the berth is the en suite head with his-and-hers sinks on centerline. A shower stall is to starboard, and the toilet is to port. It’s whisper quiet in this stateroom underway, and the ocean vistas are as impressive as they are relaxing.

Absolute Yachts Navetta 75 stateroom

Guests can relax as well, since all three staterooms belowdecks have either hullside windows or port views. There is a full-beam VIP amidships with an en suite head to port and a vanity to starboard. The head is outboard, running longitudinally, with a sink in the middle and a toilet forward. The shower stall is aft. As in the master stateroom, average headroom here is 6 feet, 6 inches, and natural light and views are courtesy of 36-inch-long, 26-inch-high hullside windows. Forward and to port is a second guest stateroom with an athwartship berth and an en suite head. Both the VIP and this stateroom are accessed via space-saving pocket doors. The third guest stateroom is to starboard with twin berths and in-room access to a day head, which can also be accessed from the companionway.

Sole-to-ceiling glass encompasses most of the superstructure, creating a main deck that feels infinite and is connected to the sea nearly 360 degrees. This design is enhanced further with the yacht’s cut-down and open bulwarks. Narrow stainless-steel supports are all that occasionally come into view while looking outward when seated. In fact, the windows adjacent to the formal dining table for eight people—set amidships and to port—are nearly 8 feet long by 4½-plus feet high. Abaft the dining area are two settees in an L-shaped configuration, as well as a loose chair. A coffee table pulls the space together as a cozy conversation nook. The interior spaces are made to feel warm, thanks to tasteful indirect lighting.

Forward of the dining area—also on the port side—is the Navetta 75’s galley. Equipped for serious at-sea meal prep, it’s outfitted with Miele appliances, including a convection oven, a full-height fridge and freezer, a four-burner cooktop and an Isotherm ice maker. During my time on board, the galley was open to the salon, but this space can be closed off during formal occasions. If it is closed, crew can access the Navetta 75’s side decks via a pantograph door to port, to serve guests discreetly.

Absolute Yachts Navetta 75

The all-weather lower helm is a couple of steps up from the salon. It is set up with twin helm seats, three Garmin multifunction displays, a bow-thruster control and a joystick to manage the twin Volvo Penta IPS1350 diesels around the dock. Cockpit joystick controls are optional. The upper helm is where I spent my wheel time; it can be accessed internally from the lower helm or externally via the cockpit. The helm is on centerline with unobstructed sightlines.

I ran the Navetta 75 off Cannes, France, on a light and variable morning with near-flat, calm seas. I found the yacht relatively nimble and real-time responsive to wheel input with minimal inboard heel on hard-over turns. It was a confidence-inspiring driving experience.

With the throttle on the pins, top speed was 24.9 knots at 2,470 rpm. At top hop, fuel burn is about 102 gallons per hour. Considering a 10 percent reserve on the yacht’s 1,057-gallon fuel capacity, range is around 232 nautical miles. Dial the engines back to 2,100 rpm and a cruise speed of 19.6 knots, and fuel burn drops to 67 gph, while range increases to about 279 nm. Slow cruise at 1,800 rpm and 14.8 knots for fuel consumption of 47 gph and range of 300 nm. For longer voyaging, the Navetta 75 has a 541 nm range at a 10.8-knot jog.

Absolute Yachts Navetta 75 helm

In addition to the upper deck being command central on fair-weather days, it’s also laid out for alfresco entertaining. Owners can personalize the layout here. This Navetta 75 had settee seating for about six guests, plus two chaise longues aft with views of the Côte d’Azur through the glass balustrade. An alfresco dining table under the hardtop is also available here, as well as a sink, a Kenyon grill and a bar, making this a great spot to take in Bimini’s aquamarine waters while grilling some mahimahi for the family. When the sun goes down, indirect lighting sets the mood. Open the hardtop’s retractable roof for stargazing.

The Navetta 75’s foredeck creates yet another alfresco social zone with a sun pad for four guests, and built-in U-shaped seating and a table for sundowners with friends.

I wrote the word “complete” in my notes as I exited the Absolute Yachts Navetta 75. Its effective layout, optimized spaces, admirable performance, luxury flourishes and ability for owners to personalize their yacht makes it a vessel that checks off a lot of must-have boxes. For yachting enthusiasts who are ready to level up to a vessel that is at the border of owner-operator and the crewed-yacht experience, the Navetta 75 is an eminently cruise-worthy consideration.

Absolute Yachts Navetta 75

Room for Crew

Absolute Navetta 75 owners may choose to have full- or part-time crew. To that end, abaft the engine room are two berths for crew. One of the berths is in a separate cabin. The second berth also serves as seating for meals. A window slides up, providing fresh air and access to the teak swim platform. There is also a head with a separate shower stall, a table, and a side-by-side Miele washer and dryer for laundry day.

Here Comes the Sun

About half of the Absolute Navetta 75’s flybridge can be covered with a hardtop. If extra sunshine is desired, the hardtop retracts about 80 percent of its total length. With only a few structural elements—and the fact that owners can personalize this space to accommodate their entertainment-at-sea lifestyle—there is a lot of flexibility in how this deck can be used.

Absolute Navetta 75 review: The perfect blend of practicality and panache

  • Top stories

Think you know what a trawler yacht is all about? After test driving the Absolute Navetta 75, Alex Smith reckons it might be time to think again...

There’s something delightfully Italian about Absolute’s new flagship, the Absolute Navetta 75. On the one hand, it adopts the classically upright form of a Nordic or American-style trawler. And on the other, it tweaks and cajoles that traditionally workmanlike form with remarkable aesthetic finesse.

Vast, seemingly mullion-free side windows wrap around the superstructure, dividing the flybridge from the hull sides with unbroken reflections of sea and sky. And unlike the outgoing Absolute Navetta 73 , the new boat adopts some very attractive design elements from the Coupe line too.

While the 73 uses a rugged, squared-off back end with imposing aft bulwarks and swept fibreglass struts, the Absolute Navetta 75 augments the connection between the cockpit and the sea by means of an open transom design with a clear glass balustrade, alongside a bulwark that dips as it leads aft, extending the deep midships cutaway right back to the aft cockpit’s seating zone.

Absolute has revised the hull sides too – taking its trademark concoction of square and circular hull windows and gathering them together into just two large tinted panels. As on the Absolute 60 Fly , these elegantly raked sections eradicate the clutter, making the boat feel much slicker and more cleanly resolved.

In fact, despite the fact that the new Absolute Navetta 75 retains all the voluminous vertical elevation you would want from a trawler-style yacht, there’s a strong argument to suggest that this is the loveliest looking boat in the entire Absolute Yachts fleet.

Beneteau grand trawler 62 review: french boating giant breaks new ground.

£2000000

When you step on board, that sense of design clarity is fully backed up by the intelligence of the deck layout. As far as possible, Absolute has used single-level decks, alongside a mix of fixed and freestanding furniture, to provide all the storage and work surfaces you need while retaining plenty of flexibility in the way the day spaces can be arranged.

At the aft end, the cockpit’s freestanding six-person dining station is framed within the wraparound glass of the central balustrade and serviced by a starboard wet bar, which is particularly handy on a galley-forward layout like this.

In addition to twin side gates, there are also symmetrical steps down to the swim platform on both sides and, as you would expect of a trawler yacht , sheltered side decks lead you safely to the sunbeds at the bow.

Absolute Navetta 75 Review (2022 Edition)

Absolute's new flagship promises smooth cruising and impressive living spaces both inside and on deck and has a keen eye on practical detailing and day-to-day usability.

Absolute Navetta 75 Review (2022 Edition) image 1

The Absolute Navetta 75 may be based on the Navetta 73, which, for now, is still in production, but there are some key differences in both styling and design.

The Navetta range is big on interior volume and, true to form, the Navetta 75 feels enormous inside but with modular furniture and a more open-plan vibe, there is plenty of scope for customers to make their mark on the way the boat looks and feels on board. At the Cannes Boat Show we had the opportunity to both tour the boat and take it out for a sea trial, so read on to see what it's like.

Our Scores Explained

Performance & Handling

Absolute was an early adopter of Volvo Penta's IPS system back in the early 2000s and now its entire range runs on pods, so its knowledge of the system and how to get the best out of it is second to none in this market. The Navetta 75 has IPS1350 with 1,000hp per side as its sole engine option and it suits the boat very well indeed. If outright performance matters then something like the Princess Y72, which is capable of over 30 knots flat out, is a better option but if a cruising speed in the late teens is acceptable then they don't come much smoother than the big Absolute.

Absolute Navetta 75 exterior

Around the Marina

One of the joys of IPS is how easy it makes boats like this to handle in the confines of a marina. Edging out of our hideously tight berth within the Cannes Boat Show deft nudges of the joystick prompted quick and predictable actions and none of the swaying that used to be an issue on large IPS-powered flybridge boats. Both the internal and external helm positions are quite a long way forward so the third station in the cockpit is a must-have if you'll be mooring stern-to on a regular base. The station is neatly integrated into the cockpit wet bar and it has a joystick, bow thruster control and chain counter so you can keep an eye on the chain if you are mooring using the anchor as the ground line.

Talking of mooring gear, the Navetta 75's is both substantial and very easy to use, especially in the stern quarters where the distinctive fins encase cleats, multi-directional fairleads and winches. There are early signs that this boat has been designed by people who actually go boating and therefore know what makes the day-to-day life on board that bit easier. A good example of this is the pull-out shower at the bow, not really designed for showering off salty humans but more so that you can wash the decks down if the ground lines are filthy without having to connect a hose and run it up to the bow.

Absolute Navetta 75 running

The Navetta 75 may not have the ocean-crossing capabilities of a true trawler yacht but those 1,000hp Volvo Penta engines provide impressively flexible performance. With a 4,000-litre fuel capacity, it will cover nearly 1,200nm at 8 knots but if you need to get a move on there is enough power on tap to crack 25 knots at the top end. For a fast cruise, 18-22 knots is fine and efficiency doesn't waver all that much; even at top speed fuel economy doesn't fall off a cliff.

It is an incredibly relaxing boat to cruise aboard no matter which helm you choose to take control from. IPS generally makes for quiet progress thanks to the position of the engines so far back in the boat but because both of the 75's helm stations are set well forward there isn't much of a sense that you're being propelled by internal combustion at all. The rush of the water under the hull is more prominent at the flybridge helm than anything the engines produce.

Take A Turn

Handling? It's not particularly engaging but then it's not supposed to be. This is a relaxed (nautical) mile muncher, designed to waft along and sweep you to your destination in serene comfort so razor-sharp reactions aren't really what this boat is about. The steering is lovely and light, though, and that matters because it makes changing the direction of this 60-tonne cruiser very easy indeed. It's not totally lacking in feel, either, and there isn't a ludicrous number of turns lock-to-lock so if the moment calls to have to take evasive action, it's not an issue.

Wash from other boats aside there really wasn't much in the Bay of Cannes to test the mettle of the hull. The Navetta range has a relatively shallow hull profile at that aft end to ease the boat onto the plane but it sharpens quite dramatically at the forefoot to slice nicely through the chop. My experience of smaller craft in the Navetta range suggests that the flagship should stand up well in rough conditions.

Design & Build

Absolute Navetta 75 running

The latest generation of all three Absolute ranges (Coupe, Fly and Navetta) share some distinctive design traits that distinguish them from their predecessors. Namely, the fin-like haunches on the stern quarters that conceal the mooring gear and, in the case of the Navetta 75, a neat compartment containing the shorepower connections. The cockpit layout is also designed to engender a better connection between the main deck and the bathing platform. Part of this is a modular furniture arrangement with chairs and sofas that are only held in place with weight and friction and can therefore be moved around into endless combinations depending on whether guests are dining, lounging or sunbathing.

Styling is, of course, totally subjective and Absolute's range contains few wallflowers. The looks of the Navetta 75 aren't going to suit all tastes but the extra length of the flagship means its proportions are far better than the smaller models in the Navetta range. The payoff for the boat's height is the extraordinary volume of its interior and sprawling deck spaces.

Structural Integrity

Absolute builds its boat in a unique way using an Integrated Structural System (ISS) first developed by the shipyard's founder Angelo Gobbi in the 90s. In the early stages of manufacturing, while the hull and deck are laminated in their own moulds, a CNC machine prepares the components for the boat's internal grid. Once the grid is stiffened and bonded it is dropped into the hull and coupled to the stringers before the deck is put on and all three parts sealed together. The benefit is a lightweight construction that is incredibly precise, strong and efficient to manufacture. The grid also contains the necessary routing and trunking for all of the boat's plumbing, wiring, hoses and junction boxes. It is, for a production boat builder, a highly industrialised process that breeds consistency and high quality.

You feel it on board where the floors feel extremely solid, there is no squeaking or rattling from furniture, doors or bulkheads and the finish, even behind the scenes, is very good indeed. In terms of fit and finish Absolute is right up there with the very best in this sector.

Absolute Navetta 75 engine room

The engine room exemplifies Absolute's attitude towards practical detailing and demonstrates the depth of engineering aboard the Navetta 75. First and foremost, access to this area is brilliant, either via a wide hatch in the cockpit deck or through a watertight door in the forward bulkhead of the crew quarters. Once in, there is over 6ft (1.83m) of standing headroom throughout and excellent access to all sides of both Volvo Penta D13 1,000hp engines. Wiring and plumbing lines are all neatly arranged and clearly labelled so it's easy to tell what does what.

Interior Accommodation

Absolute Navetta 75 saloon

The Navetta 75's main deck has a less formal open-plan feel than the Navetta 73 but it's finished with the same typically stylish Italian flair. The view out of the salon is excellent because the windows are vast and the cut-out gunwales, which make the 75's profile so distinctive, maintain clear sightlines out over the water. It's a beautiful effect, especially at the dining table where guests can dine overlooking the water, even if the weather has forced everyone inside.

Aft is the main lounging area, complete with elegant and comfortable Minotti sofas, arranged opposite a television that pops out from the dresser at the touch of a button. The galley is forward of the dining area and it's cleverly designed to adapt to whether the boat is being run by the crew or the owner. The partition which faces the dinette can be raised and lowered to either open the galley up if the owner is doing the cooking and wants to talk to their guests or it can be closed off so the crew can work without disturbing those in the saloon. There are side doors to both side decks, too, so the crew can move around the outside of the boat without disturbing those in the saloon.

Here we arrive at a particularly likeable piece of design that few of the Navetta 75's key rivals can match - an internal staircase. It may seem a simple addition but having access between the decks from inside the boat is such a benefit. It gives guests and crew two ways of moving between the main deck and flybridge but also makes it very easy for the skipper to switch helms quickly without having to charge up and down the stairs in the cockpit to change driving positions. Internal staircases are brilliant and we should see them more often.

Bedding Down

The sleeping accommodation is split fore and aft with separate access to the master stateroom at the forward end of the boat and the guest cabin amidships. The arrangement has a couple of benefits. Firstly, the master cabin enjoys the full beam of the boat and in its slightly elevated position at the front of the boat has wonderful views out of the enormous hull windows that flank this area. With the bed running down the centreline the ensuite bathroom is situated right forward and it's a lovely space with twin sinks and separate shower and toilet cubicles.

The advantage of having this cabin separated from the guest cabins is that if the owner is hosting guests they can have their own space amidships with the owner tucked away in total privacy at the forward end of the boat or, if the owner is on board with their family, they can occupy the middle of the boat leaving guests to enjoy the splendour of the master suite.

There shouldn't be many grumbles about being "demoted" to the VIP cabin, however, because the 75's layout means this cabin is a full-beam affair amidships and feels much like another master cabin. It is spacious, packed with storage and maximises the available space by having the sink open to the cabin with separate cubicles for the shower and toilet. It's a lovely space.

The other two guest cabins are a twin, which has easy access to the day head, and another double which has an ensuite and adjoins another area that bolsters the Navetta 75's cruising credentials. Running forward from this area, underneath the master suite, is a utility space and storage area that anyone who plans to live on board the boat for a long time will appreciate. Accessed via a pocket door, which slides into the bulkhead, this space with fitted storage space and all shapes and sizes will be endlessly useful on longer cruises and makes the most of space that could otherwise be wasted. Even the void right forward, which houses the bow thruster and its battery, has shelving moulded into its sides. Not an inch of space goes wanting here.

Absolute Navetta 75 master cabin

The Navetta 75 balances delicately on the threshold of being a fully crewed boat and owner operation. If the boat does have crew then they will likely be very happy to have such spacious and well-designed quarters on a sub-23m boat. There are 30m (100ft) yachts that don't have as comfortable crew accommodation as this. The layout is flexible with the option to have two or three berths, one of which is separate, presumably for the skipper. With the two-berth option, there is space for a small mess area on top of the galley and a bathroom that has separate toilet and shower rooms so they can be used at the same time. This is also where you find the washer/dryer.

Access is via a door in the transom but there is also a large window that hinges upwards on gas to pull fresh air into the cabin without having to have the transom door open. This window also draws in lots of natural light, boosting the feeling of space that already has well over 1.83m (6ft) of headroom. From here, there is direct access through a watertight door to the engine room, another useful feature for the crew.

Absolute Navetta 75 crew space

Helm Station

Absolute Navetta 75 lower helm

Something to admire about Absolute is that no matter the type of boat it is producing, the helm stations are always driver-focused and brilliantly laid out. Considering the type of cruising the Navetta 75 is designed for, it doesn't need such an adjustable, intimate upper helm but that hasn't stopped the design team from pulling out all the stops to create an outstanding driving environment. The central position is great and though there is only one helm chair there is a bench seat to starboard that allows crew and guests to enjoy the ride. The dashboard is angled towards the skipper, creating a cockpit-like feel and thanks to the huge Garmin screen on either side it's very easy to see and flick through all of their functions from charting to engine information, cameras and radar. The icing on the cake is the sliding wind deflector, which can be height adjusted depending on the breeze and offers a decent amount of protection on top of the built-in windscreen.

Downstairs it's even better. As I've already mentioned, the transition between the two helms is made so much easier by the internal staircase and the lower helm is as good to look at as it is functional. It's shaped in a similar way to the upper helm, with a pair of angled MFDs towards the driver but they're joined by an even larger MFD at the lower dash, which is really easy for the navigator to work with and gives even greater flexibility to how the information is displayed.

Absolute's digital boat management system is one of the slickest around and puts all of the boat's major functions at your fingertips from either helm. It's clear and nicely designed and the UI is responsive so swiping around the systems is easy and intuitive.

The seats are fabulous. Two sumptuously upholstered multi-adjustable leather helm chairs with MFD controls built into the armrest so you can keep an eye on things without having to relinquish their supportive embrace At this level, few - if any - builders design a better helm station than Absolute.

Absolute Navetta 75 cockpit

The key shift in deck design with the Navetta 75 is the modularity of its deck furniture. In the cockpit and on the flybridge Absolute will install any furniture that the customer desires and even what's fitted as standard can be arranged in any number of different formations depending on whether guests want to lounge or dine. The standard stuff, designed in Italy, naturally, is lovely and given that it's only held in place by weight and friction can be moved around the decks in any position. In the cockpit, having the seating arranged facing across the cockpit rather than along the centreline makes so much more sense and means that those at the table have an equally good view out over the water. The more open transom creates what feels like a terrace over the hydraulic bathing platform so that adults can relax and observe in comfort if the kids are having a swim.

Up top, there is an equally relaxed beach club vibe but the sheer length of the top deck is what really impresses. A long top deck is inherent in the Navetta design but really feel it on the flagship. More flexible furniture curls around the aft end of the deck with the central area dominated by a handsome dining table, which is flanked by identical units that flank both storage and the necessary equipment to host up here such as the twin Kenyon grills and cooling space. The standard dining table is a handsome piece of furniture but open slats in the top mean that anything spilt will drop straight onto the teak, which isn't ideal. Make sure a tablecloth is one of the first things you add to the inventory.

Overhead there is a hard top with a built-in canvas roof, which opens over the dining table - a nice touch if you want to do a spot of star gazing over dinner. There is an option to replace the sunroof with solar panels, which will help to top up the domestic electrical supply in sunny conditions.

The foredeck isn't huge but the available space is cleverly used and includes both sun beds with adjustable backrests and a small sofa with a table so guests have somewhere to put their drinks and nibbles.  The practical detailing comes to the fore once more around the deck spaces where you are never too far from a useful storage void to chuck lines and fenders and, even though the bulwarks have deep cut-outs in them, it still feels very safe to move around the boat at sea. It's good to see boarding gates on both sides, too, this makes life a lot easier if moored side-to or alongside a fuel quay.

Absolute Navetta 75 flybridge

Value For Money

Price-wise, Absolute is pretty much in line with the high-end, lower-volume European manufacturers. The quality of these boats can't be overstated, however. There is a lustre to the mouldings, a solidity to the cabinetry and an eye for engineering detail that is out of the top drawer and stands out among its closest competitors. Absolute also has one of the most mechanised and streamlined construction methods in the sector, which allows for a very efficient build process.

Our Options & Pick

The Navetta 75 comes with a healthy standard specification including desirable options such as teak decking, a proportional bow thruster, tropical air-conditioning, Interceptor trim tabs and twin inverters. On top of that, we would add the hard top (a bimini is standard), hydraulic bathing platform, cockpit docking station, twin generators, the crew cabin fit-out (even if there are no crew, it's a great extra cabin) and the Seakeeper 18 gyro.

The Navetta range raised a few eyebrows when it was first launched but it's a range that proved to be ahead of the curve in its ability to deliver what customers really want. The Navetta 75 boasts the interior volume that the market demands but adds to its box of tricks excellent deck spaces with an element of customisation that customers at this level will most definitely be looking for. The boat's performance suits modern cruising, too, happy to slip along in the low 20s without burning hideous amounts of fuel and with a large enough fuel tank that it can cover some serious ground with a speed in single figures. Then there are all the little details that make living with the boat day-to-day that little bit easier, or indeed for a whole season. The Navetta 75 can't really be pigeon-holed and it faces competition from a broad range of craft including more traditional flybridges, but in many respects, it is in a league of its own.

Reasons to Buy

  • Outstanding living spaces
  • Huge interior volume
  • Generous crew quarters
  • Efficient cruising

Things to Consider

  • The styling will divide opinion
  • Top end performance

The Navetta 73, which precedes the 75, carved out a niche of its own when it was launched but other builders have since adopted the pseudo-trawler SUV (Sports Utility Vessel) aesthetic so there are more rivals to consider today. The Navetta 73 is still in production, too, so there is strong competition within the Absolute ranks.

The 75 may be slightly longer and wider than the Navetta 73 but the majority of the underwater profile is shared as is the layout of the lower deck. The biggest difference between the two is the way they look because the 75 has adopted the open, fin-like haunches of the latest generation of Absolutes and there is even more glazing in the superstructure. On board, there is a more modular, open-plan feel with less fixed furniture and more free-standing, which gives the owner the ability to personalise the style and layout to a greater extent. The 75 also has a smaller hard top with an extending aft sun shade to open up the top deck a little more. Engine options are identical, as is performance. A few 73s may be creeping onto the used market so could be well worth a look given how much it shares with the new and more expensive 75.

Numarine has enjoyed great success with its XP line and the  Numarine   22 XP is a particularly impressive package. It's slightly shorter than the Absolute but it's 1m wider and boasts a similarly voluminous interior and a four-cabin interior as standard. As an option, the two guest cabins that are sandwiched between the master and VIP ensuite can be replaced by one large full-beam double stateroom with an ensuite. The explorer vibes are bolstered by the 22 XP's massive range which, thanks to a fuel capacity of 6,000 litres (2,000 litres more than the Absolute) means it achieves almost double the range (2,000nm) of the Navetta 75. The standard twin Cummins 420hp engines are comparatively tiny for a boat of this size, hence the brilliant cruising range and 12.5-knot top speed, but if you want a bit more performance you can have 1,200hp MAN V8s for a top speed more in line with the Navetta's.

Whereas the Navetta 75 feels like a very large flybridge boat and tops the Absolute range, the Horizon FD75 has much more of a mini superyacht vibe, which given that it's effectively a scaled-down FD100/110 should come as no surprise. Its dimensions are not that much greater than the Navetta's but it feels absolutely enormous on board and the quality of build and engineering is absolutely superb. On board, there is a spacious master suite forward and three further cabins amidships for guests, including a generous full-beam VIP with ensuite amidships. It's not all about living space, though, because this is a serious cruising machine that can cover 2,300nm at 8 knots thanks to a staggering 9,000-litre fuel capacity. Performance? The pair of Caterpillar C18 1,136hp motors are good for a top speed of 19 knots and a cruising speed of around 16 knots.

The Bluegame BG72  is a very different proposition to the Navetta 75 but then it's a different proposition to most things. That said if fast, quiet comfortable passage-making is an important part of what your boat needs to do then the BG72 fits the bill very well indeed. It's a whisker shorter than the Navetta and exactly the same beam but in terms of living space, the focus is on the enormous aft platform, which can be used as a living space or as a toy storage area with direct access to the water-level aft saloon. It's a fascinating layout that takes the beach club focus that most brands are adopting and takes it to the extreme. For a truly luxurious ownership experience, the aft saloon can be replaced with the master ensuite so the owner has direct access to the aft platform via sliding doors in their cabin. The boat is available with IPS1200 or 1350 and will crack 30 knots with the larger ones.

ABSOLUTE NAVETTA 75

Navetta 75: Absolute Yachts’ flagship on test

Minimal Logo

World premiered at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, the Navetta 75 immediately caught our attention. A perfect synthesis of beauty, balance and technology, Absolute Yachts ‘ new flagship features large volumes which, despite her twenty-three metres, make her belong to the superyachts segment.

An intriguing craft, then, capable of combining the above-mentioned characteristics, as you will see in this article, with great seaworthiness.

Navetta 75 Sea Trial

Our first approach to the Navetta 75 is not of the easiest ones. The boat is confined in a berth that to call it problematic would be an understatement and, with the boat show in full swing, getting out of Cannes’ Port Vieux will certainly not be easy. With 15/16 knots of crosswind and 4/500 metres of navigation awaiting us between the cables stretching forward, floating jetties and really tight spaces, millimetric precision manoeuvring is not an option but the only way to get out into open waters.

Yet I see Gimmy Valente strangely serene, he is at the helm and from the Flybridge, calmly and quietly, he orders the lines to be released and grasps the joystick. Navetta 75 moves slowly forward and begins to evolve with impressive ease, heedless of the gusts coming in on the beam. I lean outboard and on the surface of the water I see the irrefutable signs of the thrusters and IPS pods working in unison, coordinated by a single movement, that of Gimmy’s hand on the manoeuvring joystick. A combination of technology that until yesterday was impossible but today makes it really easy to untangle these complex situations.

ABSOLUTE-NAVETTA-75

Outside the port the wind strengthens and rises to around 18 knots. The sea is rough and a short, steep wave comes (as always when at sea) from exactly the only direction we can go. I take the controls, the forward visibility is excellent and the boat, although almost stationary, hardly rolls. I put the throttles forward and we start to sail, at 10 knots Navetta 75 goes brilliantly, with a perfectly horizontal trim and not a hint of sinking aft, it’s immediately clear that she is at ease in this element.

Between 10 and 12 knots she takes off the wake, but she does so completely progressively, without varying her trim, so much so that you have to look at the stern monitor to realize that. But that’s just the beginning because as she accelerates further Navetta 75 reveals a propensity for speed that is decidedly unusual for boats of this size. She quickly reaches 20/22 knots and then, unperturbed, continues to increase her speed until she reaches an unthinkable 25.6 knots, which is really a lot for a boat of this size.

The most distinctive thing about her, however, is that, even with this sea and at this speed, she gives the feeling of sitting on a terrace watching the sea, the level of comfort she is capable of is simply magnificent.

I slow down and start trying to figure out what the cruising speeds are but, after several attempts, I simply realize that this is a trawler capable of being comfortable at any speed, both in displacement and on plane. Navetta 75 can easily sail at 10 or 20 knots, at 15 or 25, it is only up to her captain to choose.

running

Doing this study, however, I also realize that, when travelling at 10 knots, wonder within a miracle, consumption is just six litres per mile, which would basically be 65 litres per hour: basically, the consumption of a RIB with two latest-generation outboards. Incredible. Accelerating, consumption certainly rises, but it always remains in a very low range, an irrefutable sign of a particularly well-designed hull.

The range is also remarkable, ranging from almost 1,000 miles of displacement cruising (at just under 9 knots, 983 miles are covered) to the 300 miles of classic cruising speed of 20 knots. In any case, long voyages can be undertaken wholeheartedly, without the hassle of planning stops for refuelling.

I re-engage the throttle and, at around 20/22 knots, I begin to make a series of turns that Navetta 75 slyly tackles without uncertainty, always remaining firmly planted in the water, sailing undaunted on her course, never giving back a jolt, always giving me a great sense of balance and absolute safety.

I leave the controls to the next journalist and, while my colleague enjoys his test, I go down to the indoor helm station. While from the Flybridge the feeling of speed was reduced, from here it is practically non-existent, it feels like steering a 30-metre superyacht . I wander around the main deck and then go down to the lower deck and enter the cabins. Here, silence is absolute, not a squeak can be heard.

This new Navetta 75 is really a great boat.

The Navetta 75 in detail

Let’s start by saying that, without wanting to offend the other yards, the spaces, habitability and solutions of the Navetta 75 can only be compared to yachts of 30 metres or more. In fact, there are no less than three complete decks on which the interiors and exteriors are spread, and where Absolute Yachts has also managed to create a dedicated crew quarters that includes the upper helm station, the lower cockpit and the galley. This solution, typical only of superyachts, allows the captain and hostesses to manage navigation and the needs of all the guests on board, without hindrance and in total privacy.

Let’s start with the Flybridge which is a complete living area that uses the entire extension of the trawler to create four zones: the area dedicated to steering the yacht, a huge dining area (with a table for 8 people, a full kitchen and a mobile bar), a lounge area complete with modular sofas and a huge sunbathing area that even houses beach loungers.

The bow is home to a second lounge area with a U-shaped sofa complete with central table and a large sundeck that also serves as the opposite seating area of this second open-air lounge. It will therefore also be possible here, perhaps to have more privacy when in port or to enjoy fresh air when at anchor, to dine al fresco in a large equipped area that can also, of course, be shaded with carbon poles and tarpaulins.

aerial view

But it is at the stern that Navetta 75 has another great surprise in store. Here, in fact, Absolute has created a terrace that, with no architectural barriers, directly overlooks the sea. Three wonderful modular sofas (all the external furnishings are really beautiful and functional, made especially for the shipyard) seat as many as six guests who, thanks to the central table, are pampered both by the view of the panorama and by the clever external bar unit which, as well as containing everything needed for the guests’ satisfaction, also conceals the boat’s third helm station. Mooring aft from this position will therefore be very easy, a solution that denotes the yard’s focus on simplified use of the boat.

Navetta 75 – Interior

Entering the Main Deck from the stern, the view is simply phenomenal, the windows are enormous and the absence of the bulwark, replaced with an exquisite and invisible stanchion, creates the sensation of being in direct contact with the sea while amplifying the already enormous spaces available. The workmanship of the furniture, the choice of woods and leathers are decidedly above average, the construction quality that this shipyard produces improves from year to year and, with Navetta 75, reaches truly high levels, which can be seen by observing the details and touching the individual components.

At the entrance on the port side there is an L-shaped sofa for 5/6 people, while on the starboard side is a low piece of furniture that, in addition to providing storage space, conceals the electric movement of the television, which, when raised, effectively creates a “cinema area” of considerable size. Towards the bow, again to the left, there is a huge dining table for 10 people which, another touch of genius, is separated from the galley by a concealed electrically operated mirrored wall.

ABSOLUTE NAVETTA 75 main deck at night

The galley is huge, beautiful and, because of its construction, can be left exposed or closed off via the electric wall just mentioned. This room has two exits, one on the side-deck and one in the helm station (which in turn is connected to the flybridge). For the crew, it is the ideal solution to be move around freely, without disturbing guests.

The indoor helm station is a concentrate of technology and space, from which you can control everything without moving from the pilot seat. Thanks to the 3 large displays, it will be possible to view the bow and stern cameras, manage navigation or the domotics of the entire yacht.

Sleeping Zone

A staircase in the bow leads to the Master Suite, which is located on a slightly raised level compared to the other cabins. The owner’s cabin is decidedly out of the ordinary, it is enormous and takes advantage of the raised level and large windows to create an ensemble that to define suggestive would be an understatement. The bed is King Size and placed centrally, surrounded by large walk-through spaces bordered to port by the woodwork and to starboard by another low piece of furniture, while a door to the left of the bed leads to the walk-in wardrobe. The forward bulkhead, on the other hand, houses the television and marks the entrance to the en suite bathroom where, just to give you an idea of its size, there is a marble countertop housing two washbasins, the toilet area complete with bidet and a large separate shower.

ABSOLUTE NAVETTA 75 master cabin front

The rest of the sleeping area is accessed via the staircase to starboard on the main deck. The VIP Cabin, located on the beam, is in fact a second master which, taking advantage of the yacht’s full width (5.61 m) creates a truly enormous space. Here, too, there are a king-size bed and floor plans of considerable size. To starboard there is a graceful boiserie while to port there is a head where the marble top containing the large sink is exposed, while to port and starboard are the separate toilet rooms and separate shower stall.

Continuing around is the third guest cabin, which also has a queen-size double bed and dedicated facilities that unexpectedly contains access to a huge walk-in wardrobe and, continuing on, also a technical area that allows us to reach the boat’s bow facilities.  Then there is a twin-bedded cabin with a head that, in addition to servicing the cabin, also serves as a day toilet for the rest of the boat.

There is plenty of room for the crew, who can rely on three beds, one of which is in a room reserved for the captain. This room is also equipped with a large window overlooking the aft beach club, a very useful solution for providing fresh air to the whole environment. A washing machine, dryer and soundproofed access to the huge engine room are also installed in this area.

Absolute’s flagship Navetta 75 sets new peak

  • March 23, 2023

One of Absolute’s two Generation 2023 models, the brand’s new flagship Navetta 75 has many remarkable features including an enormous flybridge, multi-functional cockpit, and four guest cabins including two full-beam staterooms. Words: Clare Mahon; Photos: Absolute

Absolute’s Navetta 75 debuted in late 2022

You’ve got to hand it to Absolute Yachts. While the usual yachting catchwords such as ‘sleek’ and ‘streamlined’ don’t apply to its boats, the most significant ones like ‘smart’ and ‘spacious’ do – and in spades. And its new flagship, the Navetta 75, is the latest data-driven evolution of the Absolute species.

Absolute – represented in Hong Kong by Absolute Marine – really exists in a category of its own. While other shipyards may talk about family feeling when it comes to defining the aesthetics of their line-ups, Absolute doesn’t even have to mention it. The look of their vessels is so unique and distinctive that spotting one of its yachts in port or on the water is as easy as pie.

Absolute’s Navetta models provide great space and volume

The exterior look is defined by lines that maximise volume while their interiors prove – in a very stylish and Italian kind of way – that achieving an excellent quality of on board life is a precise science.

Absolute’s facility is located outside Milan and this landlocked position has significant impact on the shipyard’s production. From an exteriors point of view, the finished vessels need to be transported over land to the water, so they must be engineered to fit under autostrada overpasses and through tunnels.

The swim platform is overseen by the infinity cockpit and extendable sun shade

Larger vessels like the Navetta 75 – which has a 22.8m LOA and a 5.6m beam – are constructed in two pieces, with the hull and superstructure then joined at the launch site using a closely guarded process. As for the interiors, the shipyard is close to Italy’s largest design and furniture production districts, so after the numbers have been crunched, a certain sense of style comes in to play with beautiful results.

BACK, FRONT AND UP TOP

Beginning a tour of the Navetta 75 from one of its least glamorous areas, the crew quarters, is an excellent introduction to the types of intelligent solutions that make this shipyard’s production stand out.

Absolute, Navetta 75, Review, Yacht Style, Milan, Clare Mahon, Hong Kong, Absolute Marine

Crew area with head, mini galley, washing and drying machines, convertible daybed and enclosed cabin

Accessible from the hydraulic beach platform by raising the portside staircase that leads to the aft cockpit, this area – often treated as an afterthought by other shipyards – has been so carefully engineered that it can provide space for three crew and still include a mini galley, separate washing and drying machines, and a head that’s also a passageway to the engine room.

The captain has a berth inside a small, separate cabin, while two further crew can sleep on a bed that doubles as a couch by day and an additional bunk that folds down over the dining table. The whole space gets light, air and natural ventilation from a large window in the transom and side portholes. All of this in just a few square meters, which is the essence of Absolute design.

Absolute, Navetta 75, Review, Yacht Style, Milan, Clare Mahon, Hong Kong, Absolute Marine

The swim platform accesses the common or crew area

The ‘look carefully and look twice’ theme continues in the aft cockpit. Enclosed by a glass railing so you can see on and around the beach platform, the breezy area is furnished with the same ingenious and surprisingly chic modular pieces that Absolute has used aboard other successful models.

Base elements can be used singly as chairs and poufs or joined to become couches, with backs and armrests slotted in as required. Owners can set up the furniture in various configurations according to their changing needs and everything can be packed away and stored easily.

Absolute, Navetta 75, Review, Yacht Style, Milan, Clare Mahon, Hong Kong, Absolute Marine

The cockpit’s modular furniture can be set up as three two-seat sofas and two three-seat sofas

Absolute, Navetta 75, Review, Yacht Style, Milan, Clare Mahon, Hong Kong, Absolute Marine

Open the countertop of the cockpit bar and you’ll find a supplemental helming station, a real boon when docking in a tight space. Even the foredeck is planned for flexible use, with a table that can fold out to double in size and sun beds that can become couches.

The Navetta line, which starts from the 48, features spacious flybridges as its crowning glory. The 75’s upper deck includes an open-air helm station fore, a covered dining area, a long, slender outdoor galley and bar to port, plus a lot of free space aft for owners to arrange as they please, ideally using more of the modular pieces used in the aft cockpit for maximum flexibility.

Absolute, Navetta 75, Review, Yacht Style, Milan, Clare Mahon, Hong Kong, Absolute Marine

The enormous flybridge has sun loungers, L-shaped sofa, covered dining, helm and more seating forward

Even the hard top offers options. It can have a sun curtain in the middle or it can be fitted with solar panels to provide enough current to switch the generators off in hotel mode. This is a real dawn to dusk (and beyond) area where guests can eat, chat, sunbathe and enjoy helming if they want.

FLEXIBLE AND FUNCTIONAL

The interior is also elegant, luxurious and very well thought out. The saloon features large windows and excellent ceiling height, and offers ample living and dining areas. Look closely at the large mirror behind the dining table and you’ll find another Absolute brainstorm: when raised, it reflects the surroundings and gives the saloon an infinity effect; when lowered, it reveals the galley.

Absolute, Navetta 75, Review, Yacht Style, Milan, Clare Mahon, Hong Kong, Absolute Marine

Forward view of the saloon, dining area and galley (shown in ‘open’ mode)

The galley, located just aft of the bridge, shows Absolute’s commitment to flexible solutions and practicality. If a crewmember is cooking, the galley can be separated from the saloon for guests’ privacy, but if cooking is part of the party, the mirror lowers into the bulkhead, so galley and saloon become visually connected.

Top-of-the-line Miele appliances and smooth, linear cabinetry make the galley just as elegant as the rest of the interior. Add that the area has excellent air circulation due to doors on both sides, and it just might be that the mirror is more often down than up, but it’s always nice to have the choice.

Absolute, Navetta 75, Review, Yacht Style, Milan, Clare Mahon, Hong Kong, Absolute Marine

Absolute signatures include the master suite forward on the lower deck

The full-beam owner’s cabin is fore, just five steps down from the raised bridge and has a central double bed, desk and plenty of storage. Furnishings are linear and tasteful, and contrasts of light and dark colours, and textured and smooth surfaces keep the visual interest level high. The en-suite bathroom is also full beam and has double marble sinks, a large shower and additional storage.

The three other lower-deck cabins are reached from the starboard saloon stairway and furnished to the same level of luxury as the rest of the yacht. At the bottom of the stairs is the day head that’s also shared by the twin cabin to starboard, opposite the en-suite double cabin to port.

Absolute, Navetta 75, Review, Yacht Style, Milan, Clare Mahon, Hong Kong, Absolute Marine

The midships VIP suite is also full beam

Midships, the full-beam VIP cabin has a central bed, desk on the starboard side and an ingenious bathroom to port. The sink and vanity are part of the cabin, placed under a large window that converts to become a mirror at the push of a button. What look to be closet doors on either side of the sink lead to separate toilet and shower compartments.

Absolute Yachts was an early adopter of Volvo Penta’s IPS pod propulsion systems and helming one of their yachts will make you a believer, too. Joystick controls make manoeuvring as easy as child’s play, while the system increases fuel efficiency and reduces noise and vibration. And since these systems can be mounted further aft than conventional shaft drives, there’s more space for the cabins on the lower deck.

Absolute, Navetta 75, Review, Yacht Style, Milan, Clare Mahon, Hong Kong, Absolute Marine

Elegant dressing area in VIP suite

A navetta -type yacht is about luxury and there’s more to a luxurious experience at sea than fittings and finishes. This is why the Navetta 75 has room for a crew of three and why footfall through the yacht has been planned so carefully. To keep guest and service paths separate, crew can access areas such as their cabin, the galley, the bridge and the flybridge helm without passing through guest areas like the saloon.

While anyone who boards the Navetta 75 will appreciate the detail and quality of furnishings and fittings at first glance, by the time they step back on land it will be the planning, engineering and smart solutions that have them hooked. Absolute is the shipyard that proves time and again that it’s all in the numbers, even when you’re talking about luxurious living at sea.

Absolute Navetta 75 Review: Pride of the Absolute Fleet

absolute yacht navetta 75

This balanced yacht with utmost harmony among all details and painstakingly designed spaces is a new generation Navetta, boasting every single new solution Absolute have developed for the range

The new Absolute Navetta 75 is the largest yacht in the range of her famous Italian builder, whose fame is based on the very range – the Navetta series that came to life ten years ago, with the 58-foot model. The new and largest Navetta is the pride of the Absolute fleet, carrying special significance, so the builder outdid themselves to make her shine, paying attention to the tiniest details.

absolute navetta 75 side view

Absolute Navetta 75 Evolution

This evolution of the hugely successful Navetta 73, boasts many of the features of latest Absolute boats. This model of impeccable design and style, offers plenty of living space, both on deck and in the luxurious interior. Above all, the newest navetta models excellent performance – even though it isn’t considered a high-performance yacht, the model delighted is during our sea trial in Cannes , with over 20 knots of westerly wind.

We cruised around the bay with ease and got a glimpse into the soul of this new yacht. The latest navetta inherited the new-concept cockpit from the previous model, with a glass window that allows unobstructed views of the sea. In the cockpit, free-standing modular furniture by Terra Forma (as on the upper deck) can be moved around and rearranged as desired, leaving the possibility of freeing up space for partying.

The cockpit has a cabinet on the right side. Symmetrical stairs lead to the aft platform on both sides of the cockpit, and the platform is submersible, with plenty of space for water toys. From the platform, crew area is accessible. The crew area is customizable, and very useful to private owners.

From the cockpit, we entered the main deck salon, with an L-shaped sofa and a comfortable armchair, next to a full-size dining room with unobstructed views of the sea from the left side. Another pleasant surprise, the salon is connected to the surrounding space by large glazed surfaces and a fine, almost invisible deck railing.

Forward on the main deck, the galley boasts Miele appliances, and is served by a dedicated exit to the deck on the port side, as well as its mirrored twin starboard. The galley can enclosed or open. The wheelhouse enjoys a slightly elevated position and equipped with Garmin screens that allow control over all systems.

In the bow, as we were delighted to see, is a traditional master cabin, enjoying perfect privacy. Below deck, there are three more cabins, accessible from the salon by dedicated stairs on the right side. The aft cabin is a full-width VIP, identical to the master. There is another twin cabin, sharing the bathroom with the salon, and a comfortable double cabin with access to the storage space in the bow, large enough for plenty of provisions.

Grace is a modern 28 m motor yacht built in 2013 by Aegean Yachts and started her first charter season in 2018.

In the unpleasant weather in the bay of Cannes, the new Navetta 75 charmed us with her interesting navigation modes. The highest speed we recorded was 25.7 knots, but we were impressed with how effortlessly the new Navetta reached 21 knots, with a moderate consumption of 300 liters per hour.

absolute navetta 75 interior view

At 13 knots, the consumption was 130 liters, which we would consider decent for her size. We must add that during our test, there was maximum number of people aboard, and the unit we tested was equipped with Seakeeper 18. The lovely new Navetta 75 is a yacht boasting such balance and versatility that we agree with her unusual nickname, the Absolute Sphere.

Absolute Yachts 75 Navetta

absolute navetta 75

A new flagship model in the exciting Navetta range has been announced - the Absolute Navetta 75. The Italian shipyard has had great success with the Navetta range, particularly the Navetta 73 which the new model will replace. Owners looking for a more luxurious cruising yacht with trawler-like efficiency, but with accommodations and style more similar to a motor yacht, have found the Navetta series to be a perfect combination.

The Navetta 75 will feature many of the same attributes as its predecessor including the massively spacious flybridge, large picture-sized windows in the salon, and the high ceilings in the lower deck accommodations. Absolute Yachts has created several, new innovative features that have been appearing on their latest models. For example, the cockpit is being designed with open gunwales and transparent panels towards the transom which together, increase the open visibility of the ocean. Moveable furniture, especially designed and constructed for Absolute, is used on the exterior decks which allows the owner to arrange the seating for the number of guests on board.

Other features on the Navetta 75 include:

  • A factory hardtop with a sunroof
  • Electrically-controlled sliding windows in the salon
  • Interior helm station side door with easy access to cockpit mooring station
  • Wide side-decks partially covered by the flybridge overhang for protection
  • 4 massive cabins on the lower deck each with their own head
  • Master suite found mid-ship and full-beam in size
  • Spacious crew cabin with new layout

Many more details are still yet to be announced and SI Yachts will be sure you give you as much detail as possible as we receive it. The Navetta 75 will make its global debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2022, while debuting in the U.S. at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

For more information on ordering a new Absolute Navetta 75, please give us a call at 1-718-984-7676 or [email protected] . Our team can assist you with pricing, availability, and can even take your existing boat in on trade. Stay tuned for more information about Absolute's newest model!

ALL ABSOLUTE VALUES IN A SINGLE BOAT FOR A UNIQUE, IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE The Absolute fleet flagship, Navetta 75 borrows her spherical shape from geometry to represent the shipyard’s quest for perfection and harmony in designing its latest boat.

As in a sphere, Navetta 75 embodies the best of all the Absolute creations that came before her and the shipyard’s signature features: technological evolution and sophisticated style, achieving the perfect balance of excellence and completeness.

THE SHIPYARD’S SIGNATURE Navetta 75 displays the design innovations that make Absolute recognizable and admirable worldwide: surprisingly wide windows for an immersive visual experience, high ceilings, rooms arranged on a single deck and covered walkways accessible from the inside, both from the kitchen and from the raised helm station.

Already a success on Flybridge and Coupé range boats, Navetta 75 also features an aft terrace cockpit with a glass rear parapet; the owner will be able to furnish it as desired to enjoy breathtaking views from here.

Finally, the boat features a bow master cabin with private access, luxury furnishings and premium finishes.

OPTIMIZED SPACE AND UNMATCHED LUXURY The space on the Navetta 75 is comparable to what you would expect from a larger yacht. The full-beam owner’s cabin is located at bow, with private access from the main lounge and an en-suite bathroom. On a raised level compared to the lower deck, it offers a broader view of the sea, greater privacy and more quiet. The middle of the boat also houses two double cabins with private bathrooms and a twin bed cabin with a day head.

The boat meets both practical and aesthetic needs with sliding doors and generous storage compartments, ensuring that sleeping and living areas are always neat and comfortable.

Versatile and functional, the captain’s and sailors’ quarters at the stern can accommodate up to three beds, with a bathroom and private kitchen.

Seamlessly reflecting the interiors, the external areas are optimized to ensure the highest versatility and ease of movement onboard. With two stairways to quickly climb to the flybridge, from the stern and the bow, the crew can move wherever needed, ensuring privacy for the owner and without interfering with guests. A third and a fourth mooring station are available to enhance the two steering consoles for unparalleled manoeuvrability. Thanks to modular furnishings and the absence of fixed structural elements, the flybridge and cockpit areas can easily adapt to different needs, ensuring a truly unique and immersive onboard experience.

Sunreef 100

For many yacht owners, the solution to finding more space aboard for friends and family is summed up by that immortal line by Chief Brody in Jaws: “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

Until now, bigger has typically meant longer. But that’s quickly changing as more and more builders are creating interior volume by going wider and taller. For disrupter builder Wally Yachts and its polarizing new Wallywhy 150—which refers to its internal volume rather than the boat’s length—the quirky design is said to deliver 50 percent more space than more traditional 78-footers.

Other builders like Princess have been in the game since 2021. Its X95 first appeared several years ago, effectively throwing down the gauntlet as a way forward for sub-100-foot yachts to supersize both interior and exterior volumes.

Since then, many other builders of small superyachts have jumped on board, with designs that typically have somewhat bloated profiles, far-forward main suites, and open transoms—features all designed to maximize space but minimize length.

Here are 10 new yachts 100 feet and under that are breaking the mold in an attempt to dominate the nautical space race.

<p>It’s no wonder that disrupter Italian builder Wally—now part of the Ferretti Group—calls its latest head-turner a “spaceship.” Claiming up to 50 percent more space than comparable 78-footers, the 150 (named after interior volume rather than length) has standout features like a main salon with over eight feet of headroom, and a beam of more than 22 feet. The pragmatic design includes a one-level main deck attached to an open rear cockpit that offers easy access to the water. Its most noteworthy feature is the rule-breaking, full-beam master suite tucked into the bow on the main deck. It has wraparound glass—stretching all the way around the bow—for panorama-like views from the main bedroom. Priced from about $6.7 million.</p>

<p>Short for Ultra High Volume, this new Turkish-built pocket superyacht is a sistership to Lazzara’s UHV 100 and 125 models. The newest Lazzara boasts an impressive 2,153 square feet of interior space in its 87-foot length. Arguably, the boat is not pretty in a classic sense. The towering hull sides, blunt, plumb bow, and dark-tinted glass make it look more like a dinner cruiser than a mini-superyacht. But the interior space is astonishing, from the cavernous Sky Lounge, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, to the salon with a separate, chandelier-lit dining area and chef’s galley. With a fuel capacity of 3,000 gals, the twin 1,000 hp Volvo D13s deliver a top speed of 16 knots. The boat also has transatlantic range. Base price starts at about $10.9 million.</p>

<p>Movie nights under the stars should have a whole new appeal aboard UK builder Sunseeker’s brand-new 98-footer. Lie back on the yacht’s extra-wide foredeck sunpad and watch the latest blockbuster on a 140-inch screen with laser projection. Or, if you’re the lucky owner, stargaze from your private terrace tucked away in the bow, just steps from the full-beam main-deck master suite, with atrium-style glass sliding doors. One of the best innovations here is the wide, uninterrupted walkway around the entire top deck, which provides safe, easy access from the flybridge to the forward entertaining space. With its twin 2,600 hp V16 MTU diesels, top speed is an impressive 29 knots. Priced from about $10.5 million.</p>

<p>For its brand-new Grande 26M compact superyacht, Italian builder Azimut has gone extra wide to create massive interior and exterior spaces. Spatial highlights include a full-width flybridge that’s almost 20 feet across and close to 40 feet long, and a foredeck entertaining area that seems more like an outdoor patio. The Alberto Mancini-styled go-fast cruiser is crammed with space-enhancing innovations, such as a teak-decked garage door that, at the touch of a button, hinges upwards to extend the rear cockpit by almost five feet. New ZF pod drives coupled to the yacht’s twin 1,650 hp MAN V12 diesels also save space. It is priced from about $6.2 million.</p>

<p>As we said during our <a href="https://robbreport.com/motors/marine/on-superyacht-breaks-all-the-rules-1234606462/">2021 tour</a> of Britain’s Princess Yachts’ tri-deck X95 “When it comes to the polarizing, head-spinning design, there are no half-measures, no in-betweens. You either love it. Or loathe it.” But what those eye-popping lines hide is perhaps the most spacious 95-foot luxury cruiser in the category. Reckoned to be some 40 percent roomier than cruisers with the same length, the X95 has stretch-out accommodations for up to 10 in five cabins and living spaces that rival most apartments. The flybridge covers almost the entire length of the yacht. The 100 is also fast, with twin 1,990 hp MAN V12s delivering a top speed of 23 knots. Prices start at about $12 million.</p>

<p>This broad-beamed 96-footer is from the Italian builder Extra Yachts, which is part of the Palumbo Superyachts Group. While it’s called the Triplex, there are actually four levels if you include the cozy upper sundeck with its outdoor kitchen, dining area and oversized sunpads. The exterior comes courtesy of Italian designer Francesco Guida, while interiors are by Milan-based Hot Labs. Both teams have made the most of the yacht’s class-leading 25-foot beam. Notable features include a vast full-beam master on the main level and an upper salon dedicated entirely to dining, with a table for 10, an open chef’s galley and an adjoining outdoor bar. Twin Volvo IPS1350s deliver a 16.5-knot top speed. Priced from $12 million.</p>

<p>This Sunreef power catamaran’s beam spans a staggering 44 feet, offering the kind of interior and exterior spaces you only get with superyachts twice the length. Every element of the yacht is XXL-size—from the massive hydraulic swim platform to the full-width flybridge that covers almost 1,000 square feet. Down in the salon is a huge 11-seat U-shaped bar that would delight any mixologist. The five staterooms in the twin hulls have space for 10. <p>In Italian, the word “navetta” translates to “little ship.” Which is a perfect description for Absolute’s new 75-foot fast cruiser. It’s an evolution of the strong-selling Navetta 73 but with nearly two feet of extra length. The yacht’s expansive interior volumes will remain the same, with features like a forward master stateroom on its own level that has a private entrance steps away from the main salon. <p>Cross a spacious Miami high-rise penthouse with a Canyon Ranch spa and the result could be this new 96-foot superyacht from Italian builder Arcadia. Boasting a remarkable 4,300 square feet of total living space, there’s room for 12 guests and five crew. And the living spaces even expand, courtesy of fold-down terraces in the main salon and on the rear deck. But the yacht’s focus on wellness and healthy living sets it apart. That expansive, teak-decked foredeck, spanning over 500 square feet, is perfect for yoga sessions or meditation, while the cockpit and beach club offer another 1,000 square feet of social space. For extra peace and quiet at anchor, solar panels can provide up to nine hours of generator-free power.</p>

For extra peace and quiet at anchor, solar panels can provide up to nine hours of generator-free power.

<p>Think of it as offering pace, with space. Turkish yard Numarine has been building its bold 85-foot 26XP explorer style mini-superyacht since 2018, but later this year, it will launch the U.S.-focused 26XP Fast. Instead of slow-churning 435 hp diesels and nine-knot cruising, it’s bolting-in a pair of mighty 1,800 hp MAN V12s and modifying the hull to deliver a top speed of 31 knots. What hasn’t changed is the XP’s cavernous interior and expensive deck space. Take the top-deck flybridge which, thanks to the yacht’s 21-foot beam and far-forward helm, spans over 700 square feet. That space will include a dining table for eight, a full outdoor kitchen, and more lounges than a Saint-Tropez beach bar. Prices start from $6.95 million.</p>

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

absolute yacht navetta 75

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

absolute yacht navetta 75

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

absolute yacht navetta 75

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

absolute yacht navetta 75

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

absolute yacht navetta 75

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

absolute yacht navetta 75

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

absolute yacht navetta 75

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Restaurant-Yacht Chaika

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Thank you for your feedback and invite you to have lunch or dinner again aboard the ship in an atmosphere of high standards of yacht hospitality.

everything was perfect - the food, the service, the desserts were the best, nice atmosphere and the location - magical

Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive, very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Atmosphere is great and view is beautiful on the embankment. Special thanks to German & Oleg! More

Thank you for your feedback! Again aboard the yacht restaurant "Chaika" in accordance with the high standards of yacht hospitality.

Highly recommended, great location in the city center of Moscow with a superb atmosphere. Too many menu choices, though all delicious!

Thx a lot for your review! We are looking forward to see you in our restaurants.

Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More

Good afternoon! Thank you for your detailed feedback! We are looking forward to seeing you again, we are sure that you will be delighted with our dishes!

I've been here several times during two business trip in Moscow. The overall quality for both service and food is absolutely top-notch, plus the location is very unique.

Good location. Nice views. Good choice of food and drinks. European and Asian menu. Nice service. Pricey enough.

Had a large group dinner here. Food was above average and service quite good. The real attraction is the view of Moscow from the river on a nice night. Great place for a larger group dinner. More
