At low tide, the island and 2 rocky islets next to it get linked by the sandbar. Locals call it “talay waek” which means “split ocean”.

Koh Hong is another gem of Krabi! The secret lagoon inside of the island can be accessed only by dinghy on tides above 1 meter. But outside you’ll be stunned no less: the beach is simply fantastic there! It is also an excellent overnight stop where you can stay on anchor or take a mooring.

The beauty of Krabi coastline was first discovered by cruising yachties and backpackers in the 80s. Now there are several 5-star resorts and many excellent restaurants.

Right across from Koh Hong there is a 5-star Phulay Bay Resort by Ritz Carlton . Cruising further south you will end up in Ao Nang Bay , the busiest area of Krabi with lots of resorts, bungalows, restaurants, and shops. It is the access to the main road to Krabi Town which makes Ao Nang so important.

Immediately south of Ao Nang there is Railay Peninsula famous for the beauty of its beaches. There are 4 of them, all white-sand and within a walking distance from each other. Their spectacular limestone cliffs and magical caves attract rock climbers and explorers from all over the world. The cliffs also cut off the access to the peninsula by road. So the boat is the only way to get there.

Krabi Island Private Boat Tour

Off the coast of Krabi in the southwest of Thailand are numerous picturesque islands: some little more than sandbars or rocky outcrops and others that are home to a multitude of tropical flora and fauna, and beautiful lagoons teeming with marine life. It’s not surprising that these waters attract so many yachting enthusiasts from across the globe, including ourselves! If you would like to book a short private boat Krabi island tour, we have a full-day itinerary that will give you a great taste of what the area has to offer. If you would like to spend longer exploring the local waters, it will be our pleasure to create an itinerary that is tailored to meet your specific requirements.

Private Boat Charter Krabi Island Destinations

Roughly a one hour sail north of Krabi is Koh Hong: an island with a large lagoon at its centre, sheltered by a ring of eroded limestone caves. With only a narrow inlet providing access to the lagoon by boat, you have to wait for high tide before you can pass through into the interior and take in the spectacular scenery. While you’re waiting for the right moment, you can relax with a refreshing drink on Pelay Beach: a beautiful white, coral sand beach lapped by waters filled with tropical marine fish. There is also a short nature trail that you can walk along while you’re here.

Koh Lao Lading:

Little more than 2 kilometres north of Koh Hong is Koh Lao Lading, with a sheltered bay that is perfect for swimming and snorkelling.  Also known as Paradise Island, Koh Lao Lading is a beautiful location in which to relax and recharge your batteries for a couple of hours before heading off for more adventure. We recommend including it in your private boat charter Krabi island plan if you’re putting together a custom itinerary.

Koh Phak Bia:

Roughly 1.5 kilometres further north is Koh Phak Bia, another small island with stunning limestone rock formations and white, sandy beaches that is a popular stopping-off point for those who charter a private yacht in Phuket to Krabi. Apart from sunbathing, snorkelling and just taking in the scenery, there are not that many activities on offer here but for most people, the scenery and marine life alone make it well worth a visit.

This was an amazing trip! We did the four island hopper and sunset tour. We highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore the beaches. Our guide spoke fluent English. They provided lunch, fruit for a snack, and a sandwich for dinner. Our guide also brought us smirking and informed us what we were seeing/ names of the sea life.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. The boat was clean, well equipped and safe with a great captain and mate. Our guide could not have been nicer and took us to the best spots in the marine park for snorkelling where we saw many many beautiful species of fish. On the road from the airport there are plenty of large stores for all your catering needs for your yacht if you are bare boat chartering, both Asian and Western foods can be easily found. Krabi town is more a traditional Thai large town whilst 10 kilometres north is the party town of Ao Nang where tourists tend to congregate due to the many Hotels and large beach. The countryside around Krabi is truly stunning with Limestone cliffs peppering the landscape many of which house large caves. Similarly the waters around Krabi are adorned with spectacular limestone formations such as the famous Chicken Island, so called as it resembles a chickens head! The same formations create many quiet bays including one that can only be reached by dinghy or longtail boat, a narrow entrance expands into a totally enclosed bay surrounded by 400ft cliffs. Krabi Marina is well suited to head off to Phang Nga Bay, Phi Phi Islands and further South to Koh Lanta, Trang and deserted Islands such as Koh Phetra. The further South the intrepid traveller heads the more you step back in time to the real Thailand, no Western supermarkets just small villages selling freshly caught fish and delicious local dishes, the pace is slow and very relaxed where the naturally happy disposition of Thai’s comes to the forefront.
