The Yacht Club has captured the essence of summer with new lunch, dinner and drinks menus that showcase the best flavors of the season.

The new menus feature a variety of soups, appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees, including gluten-free and vegan items. They include new offerings as well as fan favorites such as fish and chips, jumbo soft pretzel with crab dip, the Cowboy burger, Crab Cobb salad and the Yacht Club Club sandwich.

New menu items include:

Fried Calamari - Flash-fried with yellow peppers, parmesan cheese and garlic aioli

Buffalo Brussels - Flash-fried with red onion, blue cheese crumbles, and tossed in a house-made Buffalo sauce

KIDS FISHING CONTEST - Your child MUST have a well-fitted LIFE VEST and be accompanied by an adult at all times when by the fishing dock and river.  No Exceptions.

PARKING - Street Parking only.  Do not park in the Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church.

1. Full Golf membership

The Full Golf membership comes in two types of its own. Firstly a regular membership. To be eligible, you would have to be of the age of 40 or above. 

And secondly, junior membership has four sub-categories. You must be between 23-29, 30-34, and 35-39 to be eligible for junior membership. 

Alongside full-unlimited access to the legendary 18-hole Oakmont golf course, you get full access to all of the club’s amenities with these memberships! 

This includes access to the club’s training grounds, social events, dining facilities, fitness and gym facilities, aquatic facilities, and all-new clubhouse facilities. 

Your spouse and children under the age of 23 will also be able to experience the membership privileges! 

2. Social membership

With a social membership, you can enjoy full access to all of the club’s amenities, such as social events, dining facilities, fitness and gym facilities, and aquatic facilities! 

However, you won’t get the golfing privileges similar to the Full Golf membership. 

But, as a guest of another Full Golf member, you can still enjoy the legendary Oakmont golf course once a month (guest fees apply). 

Again, your spouse and children will be able to experience the membership privileges. 

Social memberships are much less expensive than a Full Golf membership. However, the initiation fee must be paid in full upon application. 

3. Non-resident membership

To be eligible for either the Full Golf membership or the Social membership, you must be a resident living at least within a 100 miles radius of the country club.   

If not, you can still be a Non-resident member! Upon application, you will have to provide proof of residency. 

This membership is also hard to qualify for as the club handpicks special individuals. 

The members, along with their spouse and children under 23, will be able to enjoy most of the country club’s amenities. 

Non-resident members can also enjoy a total of 24 rounds per year on the golf course. Access to the training facilities is also part of this membership.

History Of Oakmont Country Club

The Oakmont Country Club is situated in Oakmont, outskirts of Pittsburgh in Western Pennsylvania. In 1900, Henry and his sons were regarded as the best players in Western Pennsylvania. In 1903(119 years ago), the Club was established by Henry Fownes. He and his two sons (William & Charles) desired 18 golf holes in Western Pennsylvania. Henry began the Oakmont Land Company, where investors purchased land for $78,500, approximately $2.5 million, in 2022. 

Henry began designing his golf course in September with a group of 150 men and 24 horses. They first dug 12 holes within six weeks using their hands and completed the last six holes during the spring. The Course was opened on October 1 st , 1904, for play, playing at 6406 yards and a par of 80.

The Oakmont Club Course was designed using the Great Britain format. It is regarded as the oldest golf club and championship winner.

The Golf Course and Clubhouse were opened in 1904. The Course was designed by Edward Stotz, a great Pittsburgh architect. An estimation of $25,000 was first budgeted for the Course but was finished at the cost of $38,000. 

William (Henry’s son) won numerous Championships and made the Club known Nationally. The Course got national awareness in 1916 when the Club hosted the Intercollegiate National Championship. 

After the U.S. Open Championship in 1953, Oakmont went through drastic changes. Oakmont was addressed as an “ugly, old brute of a course” by The New Yorker’s Herbert Warren Wind during the report of the Open. The golf course was beautified with over 5,000 trees, transforming it into a typical parkland course.

It is exciting to state that four U.S. Opens are planned (2025, 2033, 2042, and 2049), and two U.S. Women’s Open (2028 & 2038) will be hosted by Oakmont Club.
