Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

Do you have a boat but need a trailer to haul it with? You now have the option of trailering your boat to warmer water in Eastern Washington or better fishing grounds to the north. We have five different trailers to fit boats up to 45’ long and a maximum weight of 20,000 lbs. Borrower Must Provide the Following:

• Valid Drivers License
• Proof of auto insurance
• Valid credit card

Pick Up & Drop Off

• Trailers must be picked up at our facility in Ballard
• Trailers must be returned to our facility in Ballard
• Hours for drop off & pick up vary according to season – Please see Dry Stack Schedule
• Paperwork must be done Monday thru Friday 8-4

• Borrower is responsible for installing and removing ball from tow vehicle

Does anyone know of a company east of the Mississippi that rents trailers for 27' sailboats by the week?  

Not all 27' sailboats are alike. The h27 Cherubini displaces 7,000 lbs. dry, and comes in deep and shallow draft configurations. Suggest you define your boat's specs and measurements and trailer requirements before you start calling. I believe the trailer should be adequately rated for the weight, it should have brakes and have adjustable bunks and a keel rest. Start googling trailer rental companies close to your area and move farther out as needed. Away from the East coast and marine venues you may not find suitable sailboat trailers but perhaps one of the larger outfits might arrange to move one out for you. If it is a long distance move consider a cradle on a flat bed trailer.  

I understand that I will need to define my parameters to any company I may contact. I have been googling sailboat trailer rental for weeks now and haven't come up with any that present themselves as experts in sailboat trailering. Just thought I'd ask here in case anyone had some firsthand knowledge of a company. Hiring a flatbed is not possible, as I'm in the landlocked Midwest on a small lake where there are no travel lifts. None of the boat hauling companies I've contacted will back there trailers down a launch ramp, and the cost of hiring a crane to lift the boat from my trailer to a flatbed seems like it would be prohibitive. My trailer is an equipment trailer that is too high for my boat to meet regulations for bridge height clearances.  

If you find a trailer, but can't get them to back it in the water, is there a marina that you can get to with the boat on your trailer that has a travel lift? They may transfer it to the rental trailer for a small fee.

Hello Gorilla Toast, Does "rent a trailer" mean only what it says? Have you explored the boat hauling companies that move a boat for a fee? We have done that several times. Is it expensive? Yah, sort of. But, We did not have a tow vehicle (like a serious truck) and I do not have a CDL or similar experience to haul a boat, and insurance would be an additional concern. We have often done things by ourselves, but boat hauling large sailboats was out of our skill set.

If you could just get your boat there, the canal system will take you to Montreal, NYC or the Gulf of Mexico. I know it is slower going, but a borrowed trailer might be feasible. If you have the time, the adventure would be worth it just for the experience. Seriously, that is your best option. Everything You Need to Know About Renting a Boat Trailer From Trailers and Transport

• Have your boat specs handy. The type of boat, length, width, and weight.
• Call us, or sign up online to reserve your trailer. Have a credit card ready to confirm your reservation. This will be your payment method at the time of rental unless you arrange otherwise.
• Our rental period is one business day, so the trailer needs to be returned by closing at 5 pm. You can arrange to return the trailer the following day by 9 am for a reasonable fee.
• Have the correct hitch and ball size for your rented trailer. If you need a different sized ball, Ace Hardware is just nearby and has a full selection of hitch parts available.
• Have an electrical plug for trailer lights (and trailer brakes if applicable). We stock plug adapters if you need one.
• Know how to drive with a boat trailer. If you need instruction on backing up a trailer and launching a boat, please click here to learn more.
• Understand that you are financially responsible for any damage to the rental trailers. All of our trailers are in excellent condition, so please treat the equipment gently.

Interesting Facts

•  In 2008 the  EPA took the lead and nickel out of the hot dipped galvanize. I bought  all the hot dipped galvanized frames i could,built before 2009 at scrap  prices,so the trailer manufacturers could buy the aluminum to get a head  start in the aluminum trailer business. Some of the trailer builders  that did not get in the race,went under.Sportsman trailers in Texas  was one of them. I bought about 200 of there frames. These frames were  all built for mono hulls.I build my sail boat trailers with these  frames. I go up with a 2" galvanized pipe,then weld two 3/4" nuts near the top.I brace the risers  with two are three 1 1/2"x1/4" angle iron braces with a 1 1/2" pipe  telescoping up and down with a swivel pad or runners. 
•  J 22 and J 24  trailer fits most any boat with a deep draft.The axles are on slides  U-bolted to frame so you can add another axle. 
• This trailer  is 30 ft . It will adjust to   any sail boat are mono hull boat. It is  galvanized  It is 42 years old. I has the  good galvanize.and great  American steel. 
• Galvanized with three 5200 lb axle,     10 risers, adjustable to fit deep drafts 
•  25 to 28 ft shallow draft or swing keel
• Painted  trailer with 10 risers, 37ft long, with three 5200 lb axles,surge brake  on two axles. It is ready to go. Call it will sell fast. 
• This trailer carried the boat 10,000 mi. It is for sale for $2,500.I will add a bow stop 
•  Yard trailer  that can be converted later for road trailer we can add  one more 4500  lb axle and adjust the bow stop. The bow stop is U-bolted to the tongue.  When you have completed the work and ready for the road. We can assist  you in completing the trailer.

•  24 ft frame for 30 ft boat for three  axles 
•  This trailer  was made for a 5500 lb boat. We are able to add another slide with  axles, brake, and fenders to accommodate an 8000 lb boat. Also the two  axles were on slides U-bolted to frame. 
• J27 1985  had  to add another axle. It had 700 lbs of water absorbed in hull. By  having axles on slides, we saved him about $2200.One happy camper.

• Trailer on right, before uprights we go up  with 2" galvanize pipe with 1 1/2" to telescope up and down with swivel  pad on top.On top of 2" we weld two 3/4" nuts to hold the 1 1/2" That is  a big bolt.
