Sailboat Trailer Rental?

Does anyone know of a company east of the Mississippi that rents trailers for 27' sailboats by the week?

Not all 27' sailboats are alike. The h27 Cherubini displaces 7,000 lbs. dry, and comes in deep and shallow draft configurations. Suggest you define your boat's specs and measurements and trailer requirements before you start calling. I believe the trailer should be adequately rated for the weight, it should have brakes and have adjustable bunks and a keel rest. Start googling trailer rental companies close to your area and move farther out as needed. Away from the East coast and marine venues you may not find suitable sailboat trailers but perhaps one of the larger outfits might arrange to move one out for you. If it is a long distance move consider a cradle on a flat bed trailer.

I understand that I will need to define my parameters to any company I may contact. I have been googling sailboat trailer rental for weeks now and haven't come up with any that present themselves as experts in sailboat trailering. Just thought I'd ask here in case anyone had some firsthand knowledge of a company. Hiring a flatbed is not possible, as I'm in the landlocked Midwest on a small lake where there are no travel lifts. None of the boat hauling companies I've contacted will back there trailers down a launch ramp, and the cost of hiring a crane to lift the boat from my trailer to a flatbed seems like it would be prohibitive. My trailer is an equipment trailer that is too high for my boat to meet regulations for bridge height clearances.

If you find a trailer, but can't get them to back it in the water, is there a marina that you can get to with the boat on your trailer that has a travel lift? They may transfer it to the rental trailer for a small fee.

instead of calling trailer rental companies, call marinas. Try the marina where you want to drop off, then work out from there. Any way you slice it, there are going to be expenses that make it seem prohibitive. Maybe what you do is rent a Uhaul trailer for the boat's contents and sell the boat where you are buy a boat where you want to go. - Will (Dragonfly)

Hello Gorilla Toast, Does "rent a trailer" mean only what it says? Have you explored the boat hauling companies that move a boat for a fee? We have done that several times. Is it expensive? Yah, sort of. But, We did not have a tow vehicle (like a serious truck) and I do not have a CDL or similar experience to haul a boat, and insurance would be an additional concern. We have often done things by ourselves, but boat hauling large sailboats was out of our skill set.

rgranger said: I had a 25' boat moved from Maryland to a lake in Virginia about 10 years ago. These boat moving companies have trailers with hydraulic "pads" that move to fit your boat. It was very cool to watch and an impressive piece of equipment. That might be a good way to go .... except you are still stuck with needing it lifted out of the water. Click to expand
Will Gilmore said: GorillaToast, Where are you going with your boat? You appear to be just north of Columbus, not very far from Lake Erie. If you could just get your boat there, the canal system will take you to Montreal, NYC or the Gulf of Mexico. I know it is slower going, but a borrowed trailer might be feasible. If you have the time, the adventure would be worth it just for the experience. Seriously, that is your best option. A personal trailer is very convenient and will pay for itself in marina hauling and/or storage charges when doing your own work or self-storing. -Will (Dragonfly) Click to expand

Gotcha, I just looked at it on a map and my idea wouldn't work. It looks like there are no other decent sized bodies of water in your area.

How Much Does It Cost To Rent a Boat Trailer?

  • Updated March 13, 2024

Boat Trailer

Owning a boat is great, but you need a sturdy and dependable trailer to haul your watercraft to the water or marina. However, buying a boat trailer entails investing in a hefty sum. A boat trailer may cost anywhere between $500 to $10,000, depending on the construction materials, weight capacity, size, as well as design.

So, unless you move your boat frequently, a trailer might be an optional expense. Renting a trailer for a day or two may be the most cost-effective alternative if you’re not transporting your boat often. Many marinas rent out boat trailers through marine sales and supply companies.

But if buying a trailer is expensive, how much does it cost to rent a boat trailer?

Well, there’s really not a single answer to this question. The cost for renting a boat trailer will depend on various factors such as the size and carrying weight. You can also have a hauling service move the boat and set things up at an additional cost.

Keeping those things in mind, I’ve researched the average costs of rental boat trailers of boat sizes in the US. You can explore your options with the table below. Remember that these numbers are merely estimates and rental prices will vary depending on their load capacity and your provider.

Note: Different boats require different types of trailers. Whichever you choose, make sure it not only fits your boat but also your budget.

Moving the Boat by Yourself

This is obviously an easy option if you want to transfer your boat yourself and require a trailer. it would be beneficial to contact your local marine sales and supplies or boating sales firms for recommendations on where you may rent boat trailers.

If you decide to haul your boat on your own, check your rental trailer. A typical 21-foot boat trailer, for example, weighs between 500 and 1,390 lbs for a tandem axle galvanized steel trailer. Most boats of such a length weigh roughly 5,000 lbs.

To pull a trailer and a watercraft with such weight, you’ll need a vehicle that weighs at least 6,000 lbs. The car manufacturer will provide you with all of the details you’ll need on your vehicle’s carrying capacity. But if your vehicle can tow this amount of weight, you should be good to go.

Before renting a boat trailer, make sure that you have all the necessary knowledge to operate a boat trailer. These vehicles will need the appropriate hitch and ball size for your rented trailer, but you may contact your local hardware store for a range of hitch components.

You should also be aware that you are financially liable for any damage to the boat trailers. Rental companies impose strict compliance regarding this.

Things To Consider in Renting a Boat Trailer

Renting a boat trailer isn’t as simple as paying a ticket to a roller coaster ride. You need to do some research and a little preparation goes on your part. Here are a few things to consider when renting a boat trailer.

Boat Type and Size

As I’ve mentioned above, boat trailers come in various sizes. Before renting a trailer, you must first gather your boat’s length, width, and weight. Keep in mind that your boat’s weight must include whatever equipment is on board when you move it.

If you’re not sure about your boat’s dimensions and weight, you may refer to the documents that came with you when you bought it. You may also check with the boat manufacturer regarding the information you need.

Choosing the Best Boat Trailer

Picking an inadequate or trailer of the wrong size might jeopardize the safety of your boat. It can also make it unsafe for other vehicles using the same road as the boat trailer.

Consider the number of axles on the trailer. You can securely use single-axle trailers on boats of 22 feet or less, while larger boats entail using multiple axles.

Other key considerations are the tires, lights, frame materials, roller, wiring, and brake style. The bunk, where your boat settles when you transport it is also important. If you are knowledgeable of these elements, it will be easier for you to find the right boat trailer. You can always consult your provider regarding these things, though.

Finding a Boat Trailer Rental Provider

Finding the right trailer for rent should be relatively simple. If you live in an area where there are a lot of boating sports and recreation, then it will be much easier for you to find a boat trailer provider. There are many marine sales and supply companies that rent boat trailers as well, and you can call one from your area.

If they don’t rent out trailers, you can ask them to refer you to one that can provide you with an adequate trailer. And wherever you moor your boat, you’ll want to consult with the marina and perhaps they know companies that rent out boat trailers around the area.

The tip I always give my readers is to verify the legitimacy of the business before renting a boat trailer from them. It’s also best to check their reputation and the safety policies they offer.

Once you’ve found your rental provider, confirm what documents you’ll need to bring with you when you rent. They may require you to bring your proof of insurance, and make sure to have your credit card ready for reservation.

Should You Hire a Professional Shipper?

You may also hire a professional shipper to transport your vessel since many of them have their own trailer. The distance of the hauling and your boat’s size will affect the cost.

A boat trucking company like the Interstate Haulers transfers different types of boats. You can have your powerboat, sailboat, or yacht in different sizes transported at various fees.

Marketplace-based services where you can publish your shipping info online also work. The platforms where you listed your offer will link you directly to drivers from their network. They will contact you with bids and you can negotiate with your chosen driver about the fees.

Other Shipping Options Available

While finding a boat trailer provider can be easy, it’s not for everyone. Some boat owners simply can’t transport their boat by themselves since they’ll need someone to set things up. You might also find it hard to find a professional boat shipper, so what’s next for you?

You may opt to call sales yards that are transporting boats across the country. This is to check whether there is an opportunity to rent within their cargo system.

It could perhaps involve some more planning on your part if you need your boat to be shipped in a container. This, however, can be a speedy and safe way of transporting your boat across long distances.

Make a Plan Ahead of Time

If you can, book the trailer a few months ahead. This allows you to save money on the rental fee.  Avoiding the queues could also help you get the perfect trailer for your needs. If you need to haul your boat in the summer, for instance, you need to make your reservation as early as three months.

Plan ahead of time, and you will have a much more fun experience.

Rental Boat Trailer Tip

You may always pay someone to carry your boat to the water or storage. Make sure to compare prices and that the boat trailer rental business you pick has expertise in shipping boats. Hidden charges are a common complaint among renters, so it’s best to check what other customers say.

How are large boats shipped?

Depending on the boat’s size, one commonly-used method of shipping a boat is on its own trailer. A professional boat hauler transports a boat across the land. Most have experience shipping all kinds of boats like pontoon boats, sailboats, speedboats, and yachts.

Can you tow a 50-foot yacht?

The maximum allowable trailer length changes state by state, ranging from 30-60 feet. States also have requirements for the combined length of the vehicle plus trailer being towed, which can run from 50-85 feet. Longer vehicles may be allowed to be towed with an oversize load permit, depending on the jurisdiction.

Final Thoughts

Renting a boat trailer isn’t an expensive investment, just make sure to plan things ahead to get the best deals. Don’t forget to exercise safety precautions and have fun. Good luck!

Moscow International Business Center (Moscow City)

  • Guide to Russia

What can you do at Moscow City?

  • Dine in style: Moscow City is home to 100+ cafes and restaurants, including Europe’s highest restaurant and ice-cream shop
  • See Moscow like never before: Ascend to one of Moscow City’s observation decks for an unparalleled panorama of Moscow
  • Admire world-class architecture: Each of Moscow City’s skyscrapers has distinctive architecture and design
  • Learn something new: Visit the Museum of High-Rise Architecture in Moscow or the Metro Museum

Moscow City is a multifunctional complex in the west of Moscow, which has come to represent the booming business of Russia’s capital. Its skyscrapers enrich Moscow’s skyline, contrasting the medieval cupolas and Stalinist high-rises. Visitors to Moscow City can enjoy entertainment high in the sky, as the complex is home not just to offices, but to restaurants, cinemas, viewing platforms, and museums.

Moscow International Business Center (Moscow City)

Photo by Alex Zarubi on Unsplash

History of Moscow City

Moscow City was first conceived in 1991 by honoured Soviet architect Boris Tkhor, who proposed to construct a business center in Moscow. It would be complete with gleaming skyscrapers rivalling those of New York and London, to reflect the new life and growing ambitions of post-Soviet Russia.

The chosen site was a stone quarry and disused industrial zone in western Moscow, in between the Third Ring Road and Moskva River. Initially, the territory was divided into 20 sections arranged in a horseshoe shape around a central zone. The skyscrapers would increase in height as they spiralled around the central section, with shorter structures built on the waterfront to give the taller buildings behind a view of the river.

Architect Gennady Sirota, who contributed to iconic projects such as the Olympic Sports Complex on Prospekt Mira, was selected as the chief architect, and many other world-famous architects were attracted to Moscow to realise their visions in Moscow City.

What can you see and do at Moscow City?

Where Moscow’s cityscape was once dominated by Stalin’s Seven Sisters skyscrapers , this is no more. Moscow City is home to eight of Russia’s ten tallest buildings, six of which exceed 300 metres in height. More buildings are still under construction there today, including the One Tower (which will be Europe’s second-tallest building). Once completed, Moscow City will comprise more than 20 innovative structures.

Each of Moscow City’s skyscrapers was designed by its own architect, lending the cluster of skyscrapers a unique appearance. Aside from being a site of architectural wonder, Moscow City is a place for leisure and entertainment with over 100 cafes and restaurants, exhibition spaces, cinemas, viewing platforms, and more.

Federation Tower

  • East Tower: 374m, 97 floors; West Tower: 243m, 63 floors
  • Completed in 2017
  • Architects: Sergey Tchoban and Peter Schweger

The East Federation Tower is the tallest building in Moscow, and the second-tallest building in Europe after the Lakhta Centre in St Petersburg. Visitors can enjoy a luxurious meal of seafood, truffles or steak at restaurant ‘Sixty’ on the 62nd floor of the West Tower, or visit Europe’s highest observation deck, ‘Panorama 360’, on the 89th floor of the East Tower.

Did you know? The ice cream and chocolate shop on the 360 observation deck are the highest in the world!

  • South Tower: 354m, 85 floors; North Tower: 254m, 49 floors
  • Completed in 2015
  • Architect: Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP

The South OKO Tower is the third-tallest building in Russia and Europe. Here, you can visit ‘Ruski’ to dine on hearty Russian cuisine cooked on a real Russian stove, and have a drink in the ice bar. Alternatively, visit restaurant, nightclub and performance space ‘Birds’; the restaurant is the highest in Europe, situated on the 86th floor roof terrace alongside an observation deck. The OKO Towers are also home to karaoke club ‘City Voice’.

Did you know? Underneath OKO Towers is the largest underground parking in Europe, with 16 levels and 3,400 parking spaces.

Mercury Tower

  • 339m tall, 75 floors
  • Architects : Mikhail Posokhin, Frank Williams, Gennady Sirota

Another multifunctional skyscraper, which was designed as the first truly ‘green’ building in Moscow. The Mercury Tower has a distinct geometric shape and copper-coloured glazing, and was the tallest building in Europe upon completion. Visit ‘More i myaso’ (Sea and meat) on the first floor of the tower to enjoy European and Mediterranean cuisine whilst surrounded by greenery. On the 2nd and 40th floors a modern art gallery, the ‘ILONA-K artspace’, has just opened.

City of Capitals

  • Moscow Tower: 302m, 76 floors; St Petersburg Tower: 257m, 65 floors
  • Completed in 2009
  • Architect: Bureau NBBJ

The unique geometric design of the City of Capitals towers resembles stacks of rotating blocks, and is rooted in Constructivism of the early Soviet period (many Soviet Constructivist buildings can be found in Moscow). Visitors to the Moscow Tower can enjoy a range of cuisines – traditional Italian dishes on the summer terrace of ‘Tutto Bene’, Panasian cuisine in the tropical luxury of the ‘Bamboo Bar’ on the 1st floor’, and poke or smoothie bowls at ‘Soul in the Bowl’ cafe on the 80th floor.

Tower on the Embankment

  • Tower A: 84m; Tower B:127m; Tower C: 268m, 61 floors
  • Completed in 2007
  • Architects: Vehbi Inan and Olcay Erturk

After completion, the Tower on the Embankment was the tallest building in Europe, and is now the 13th tallest. It houses the headquarters of several large Russian and international  companies, including IBM and KPMG. There are two cafes located on the 1st floor of Tower C – self-service café ‘Obed Bufet’ (Lunch Buffet) and Bakery Chain ‘Khleb Nasushchny’ (Daily Bread).

Evolution Tower

  • 255m tall, 54 floors
  • Architects: Philip Nikandrov and RMJM Scotland Ltd

Evolution is Moscow City’s most recognisable tower, and the 11th tallest building in Russia. Its façade is a true architectural marvel, comprising continuous strips of curved glazing spiralling high into  the sky. According to the architect, Philip Nikandrov, the spiral shape of the tower honours centuries of architectural design in Russia, from the onion domes of St Basil's Cathedral to Vladimir Shukhov’s Tatlin Tower, a masterpiece of Constructivist design. Outside the Evolution tower is a landscaped terrace and pedestrian zone descending to the Presnenskaya Embankment, which was also designed by Nikandrov.

Did you know? Moscow’s largest wedding palace was supposed to be built on the site of the Evolution tower, though the project was abandoned.

  • 239m tall, 60 floors
  • Completed in 2011

Imperia’s interesting design has a curved roof and an arched glass façade. Inside the tower are various cafes including ‘City Friends’ for all-day breakfasts and light lunches, ‘Mama in the City’ for simple meals of Russian cuisine, and ‘abc kitchen’ for European and Indian-inspired dishes. Alternatively, visit ‘High Bar’ on the 56th floor for cocktails with a view. In Imperia you’ll also find the Museum of High-Rise Construction in Moscow (suitably located on the 56th floor), and the Camera Immersive Theatre.

Did you know? Inside Vystavochnaya metro station is the Metro Museum , dedicated to the history of the beautiful Moscow Metro!

  • 130m tall, 26 floors
  • Completed in 2001
  • Architect: Boris Tkhor

Tower 2000 was Moscow City’s first tower. It stands on the opposite bank of the Moskva River, and houses a viewing platform from which visitors can admire an unparalleled panorama of Moscow City. The Bagration Bridge reaches across the river from the tower to Moscow City, and underneath are piers from where you can take boat trips.

Afimall is Moscow’s largest entertainment and shopping complex, home to 450 shops, cafes and restaurants, a cinema, and a virtual-reality game park. The shopping centre is located in the central section of Moscow City, and a cinema and concert hall are currently under construction there.

Letovo Schoolcampus, Moscow, Russia

Letovo, the dream came true.

Letovo School is a special school for gifted and motivated children aged 12 to 17. An idea to create the school came from entrepreneur and philanthropist Vadim Moshkovich: ‘My dream was to offer talented children from all over the country access to high-quality education, regardless of their parents’ financial means. This school makes it possible for them to continue their studies at the 10 best universities in the country or at one of the top 50 universities in the world.’

Landscape-inspired design, shape and brickworks Located in Novaya Moskva, southwest of Moscow, the campus sits atop a beautiful plot of land that slopes down to a forest-lined river. Distinctive level variations were applied in and around the school to integrate the architecture into the landscape.

The shape of the large complex brings it down to a human scale for the children: the building appears to dance across the landscape due to its dynamic design. Due to the perspective effect one only ever sees part of the building's full size when walking around, which gives the impression of a refined scale. The building’s contours and flowing curves create surprising indoor and outdoor spaces as well.

To accentuate this curved shapes and to have the building blend into the landscape brick seemed a rather obvious choice. The natural ingredients of brick such as clay, sand water, air and fire gives the school building a natural setting as if the building has been there endlessly. Brick with its solid and sturdy exposure. We choose a sandy light colored brick so in all wheather circumstances it will have a warm glance.

The heart of the school: the central hub

The central hub is the place where day-to-day life at the school unfolds. This flexible, transformable space will be used throughout the day as an informal meeting place. The dance studio on the ground floor can be transformed through a few simple adjustments into a theatre with a stage, a cosy living room or an auditorium that can accommodate 1,000 people for special events such as graduation ceremonies and large celebrations, as seen at the grand opening. This central hub connects the building’s three wings: the art wing, the south wing with science- and general-use rooms and the sports wing.

Learning environment with a diversity in working spaces

Letovo envisioned an innovative and modern take on existing education in Russia. In the spatial design, this perspective translates into space for theoretical education as well as special areas for group work and independent study in the tapered building wings. In the library wing there are silence spaces workshop spaces and a debating room. These are all supportive to the student’s personal development.

Sports programme

In addition to the extended sports outdoor facilities, the indoor supply of sports facilities is substantial. These cover fitness rooms, martial arts rooms, a swimming pool, a small and a large sports hall. Around the sports hall there’s an indoor running track which can be used throughout the year. It is available to school staff and external users as well.

Letovo Schoolcampus, Moscow, Russia / Photography © NARODIZKIY

The interior, also designed by atelier PRO, is tailored to the aims of the ambitious programme. The design of the interior also focuses extensively on the various spaces where students can go to chill and meet up with friends. The extreme cold in this area makes the school’s indoor atmosphere important for relaxation.

Ambitous learning environment

The Russian client has established a private, non-profit school which aims to be the most prestigious school in the country and to offer the best educational programme through a Russion and an IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum. Students’ personal development is paramount, with the school adopting a holistic approach. It is a true learning environment that provides scope for a range of disciplines, areas of interest and recreational opportunities to foster children’s development. This aim is supported by the campus facilities and functions.

In December of 2016 the architectural project of school was awarded by Architectural Council of Moscow as the best project in the sphere of education and health care.
