Janice of Wyoming is a 130 ft (40m) sloop designed by Ed Dubois’ team in Hampshire, UK and built by Alloy Yachts International in Auckland , New Zealand .She has a beam of 28.54 ft (8.7m) and draws 13.12 ft (4.00m). The yacht is Alloy Yachts’ 31st project and the 12th Dubois design. “Janice” began construction in June ’03 and was launched in March ’05. She has a very low profile superstructure and a high performance hull in the classic maritime colors of flag blue and white. Alloy Yachts’ own captive winches, a carbon fiber rig from Southern Spars plus a wardrobe of 3DL Aramid/carbon sails from North Sails’ Auckland loft ensure that she will be fast and easily handled in a wide variety of wind conditions.

The design has been a collaborative effort between the Alloy Yachts team, the Owners and the Dubois office. Personal design touches are everywhere, from direct galley / dining salon access and a guest servery on the lower deck.

It incorporates surfaces finished with unique fossil stone from the Owner’s home state of Wyoming as well as fluted posts and Italian marble. Owner’s stateroom includes a full-height dressing room to port and a well equipped office to starboard.

It also offers private access to the cockpit through an aft deck hatch. There are two guest cabins, a starboard double and a portside twin with an inboard Pullman berth, and all cabins are equipped with their own ensuites. Forward crew area includes quarters for six, a crew mess, separate ship’s office and a laundry, in addition to the well equipped galley.

Alloy Yachts Yachts for sale & charter

Browse our selection of some of the finest Alloy Yachts yachts for sale & charter on the market today.

New Zealand is the home of the renowned yacht maker Alloy Yachts. In the 1980's the average length of an alloy yacht was 12 to 13 metres, but that changed with the creation of the Chanel which came in at 28 metres. Currently they are custom builder of luxury motor yachts and sailing yachts ranging from 30m to 70m. Alloy Yachts was formed on the banks of Henderson Creek in West Auckland, by a number of local yacht builders after Chanel commissioned in 1985. The next project was for the Americas Cup challenge for New Zealand in 1987 and much of the boat building team have been together ever since. In 1991 Alloy Yachts built their first vessel of over 100 feet in length. A period of expansion followed through the 1990's with innovation at the forefront, Alloy Yachts skipped up the league of super yacht builders. The first use of a carbon fibre mast originally developed for the Americas Cup, was incorporated into a cruising super yacht, the 32 metre Esprit. Imagine, a 33 metre boat used a ground breaking technology enabling sustained quiet periods on board by being able to use any shore based power system. Then the slightly larger, at nearly 35 metres, Corinthian, was the first yacht to be built with a concealed anchor. From there, more recently Alloy Yachts have built what was at the time the largest sloop in the world, the 49 metre Georgia and then followed that with the Tiara at over 54 metres, the latter being awarded the 2004 Showboat International highest technical achievement award. More awards followed in 2005, a Boat International superyacht award was earned by Ad Lib, a 40 metre beauty and in 2006, the following year, Como received a styling award from the same magazine. In 2006, after 21 years of manufacture, Wyoming won the Showboats International best sailing yacht award. Further awards have followed in 2007 and 2008 so the company can justifiably claim to be one of the leading yacht builders in the world, a great achievement for a Company based in one of the least accessible countries in the world. It is not just the boats themselves that they build. They have developed a range of options that can be incorporated into other existing or in production vessels. Apart from their already mentioned concealed anchor systems, they have developed captive and vertical winches, deck hardware such as stanchions, line haulers, mooring cleats, through to the much more sophisticated Seatouch Monitoring and alarm system. They also make and supply boarding passerelles and platforms, and even jacuzzis. Alloy yachts is recognised as one of the leading superyacht builders in the world and particularly specialises in high quality luxury sailing yachts. Yachts built by Alloy have an international reputation for reliable operation and world class quality. The quality, innovation and reliability of Alloy Yachts has been acknowledged in by winning 16 International Yachting Awards.
