( via TripAdvisor ) The day with Captain Justin was so awesome! We just did Disney for the first 4 days this week and wrapped it up with some Anna Maria sea salt therapy. Our 3 kids, unanimously, voted the 5 hour fishing/tour trip was by far their favorite day. Above Disney! While we are now sad for our wallets, we couldn’t agree more. We saw ALL the things. From sharks, to stingrays, manatees, dolphins, turtles, crabs etc…Not to mention each kiddo caught 7+ fish in the couple hours we fished. Justin was amazing and great with our family. Truly was an unforgettable day.

He was great with my 10 year old daughter, teaching her what to do and helping her all the time. We have fished a lot of charters around the country and from start to finish captain Jake was a pro and well seasoned beyond his years. Explanation of techniques and cast placement were bar none. This guy is serious business. We caught over ten species of fish including tripletail, snook, snapper, sea trout etc. From the moment we stepped aboard to departure after filleting we had an amazing experience. Jake knows all the spots and moved accordingly. Visitors of all skill levels should make it a priority to spend the day on the water with this company and guide. Passage Key is a popular clothing optional sandbar North of Anna Maria Island and South of Egmont Key in Tampa Bay. It is only accessible by boat and is a wildlife refuge. While you are not allowed on the island itself, the surrounding shallow sandbars allow for sitting, relaxing and enjoying a perfect day. The water is very clear so with, or without bathing suits, you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, shelling, or just take in the amazing array of sea life. It is not uncommon to find sand dollars, crabs and starfish and to see stingrays, schools of fish, and even manatees and dolphins.

Our charters are private, include a U.S.C.G. licensed captain, and can accommodate up to 6 people. We offer a range of charter services that are perfect for any occasion, whether it's a romantic getaway, bachelor or bachelorettes party, or even a nudist sandbar excursion! The “Sally D” is a 2001 24-foot, Robin outboard custom flats boat with a wide nine-foot beam that provides a smooth, stable ride and plenty of space for four anglers, all powered by a Yamaha 150 four-stroke outboard motor. Anna Maria Island is home to a sandy paradise of beaches , including Manatee Beach , Holmes Beach , and Coquina Beach , all popular and with abundant amenities. For a secluded getaway, head to Bean Point , with three different public beach accesses: at the crossroads of North Bay Boulevard and North Shore Drive, which is considered the main access (793 N Shore Dr., Anna Maria 34216, FL); at the crossroads of Gladiolus Street and North Shore Drive; and at the crossroads of Fern Street and North Shore Drive.

Intimate, white sand wonder that feels like a private beach. An under-the-radar gem with minimal tourist traffic and abundant wildlife, Bean Point is the place to go to escape the party.

Sited at the northernmost tip of Anna Maria Island, Bean Point is a pale finger of sand that curves out into the Gulf of Mexico and Anna Maria Sound, promising a natural, stunning oasis. Hike down a sandy path that winds through dunes lush with seagrapes and sea oats to discover its powder-soft, white sand and unbelievably clear, turquoise-hued waters. Here, you’ll see beachgoers kicking back under candy-colored umbrellas—but not too many; swimmers cooling off in the shallow, placid surf; and kids floating on inflatable rafts. Sweeping views of Tampa Bay and the iconic Sunshine Skyway bridge, the occasional sailboat offshore, and the residential neighborhood add to the tropical ambience. While the water at Bean Point is usually calm, winds, tides and offshore systems can cause rougher conditions.

On or near the beach

Bean Point’s pleasures are simple yet profound: admiring dolphins arcing out of waves; searching for shells; and watching the sun go down over the Gulf of Mexico. Swimming, snorkeling and exploring the shores are popular.

Accessibility

Bean Point isn’t accessible, but just down the road, Manatee Beach , Holmes Beach , and Coquina Beach offer beach wheelchairs and other amenities.

You won’t find concessions, restrooms or showers at Bean Point. Bring whatever you need: plenty of water, sunscreen and snacks. Packing a picnic or ordering a takeout meal from Hurricane Hanks is a fine way to refuel by the shore. 

There are no lifeguards at Bean Point; swim at your own risk.

The tradeoff for tranquility is that nearby parking spots are scarce. Arrive early in the morning or visit on a weekday to find these coveted spots, and be prepared for a bit of a stroll to reach the beach. The best places to check are Fern Street, Gladiolus Street and Jacaranda Road, by the footbridge entrance.

Parking is vigorously enforced, so be careful to heed signs.
